Apple TV / YouTube Sign-In Issues

I recently made some changes to my YouTube/Google account; I removed my old YouTube Channel, and am now instead using the default Google+/YouTube channel account only.
I was able to sign-in to my "new" account just fine on Google Chrome on my Mac, my iPhone 5s and my iPad Air. But my Apple TV refuses to play nice. I have tried using all of the following combinations:
1) Username: Gmail email address, Password: main Google password
2) Username: Gmail email address, Password: generated application-specific password
3) Username: Google+ username, Password: main Google password
4) Username: Google+ username, Password: generated application-specific password
All fail with various messages: some say the username/password is incorrect, and the Gmail address ones give the "account cannot be used with YouTube" error message.
Please help!!! I use YouTube on my Apple TV literally EVERYDAY to watch subscriptions and playlists, and always add videos to Watch Later list throughout the day & then sit back in the recliner and watch them that evening. I absolutely need my YouTube/Apple TV combo back! Thanks!

I had exactly the same problem. It began a few weeks ago when I started getting a "cannot connect to YouTube" message on the (2nd Gen.) Apple TV, when attempting to view a specific video or access a subscribed-to channel (it showed the list of my subscriptions just fine, so I was still logged in).
I thought perhaps logging out and back in would work, only to find that I could not log in at all. I got the message that the account "cannot be used with AppleTV." I have two-factor authentication and tried all of the following:
1. simply generating a new app-specific password and entering that (which of course I'd have to do, since I didn't have the old one handy);
2. trying my "regular" password;
3. confirmed that I have a "channel" set up in YouTube, as I'd seen suggested (I did have it set up already, so that wasn't the problem);
4. logged out of Google+ everywhere;
5. dug up an old Google+ account not tied to anything, and without two-factor, made sure it was tied to YouTube and had a channel, and tried logging in.
None of that worked and I continued to get the same error message. I finally took the extraordinary step of performing a factory reset/restore on the ATV. When it came time to log in, I generated a new app-specific password. Worked like a charm. Super fun!

    1. Don't confuse "Apple ID" with iTunes Account ID.  You can have many Apple IDs but only one iTunes account active at a time.
    2. If you "changed" your iTunes account ID, you actually have 2 accounts - one under the old name plus the new name.
    3. You can't merge the accounts - they remain separate.  Apps purcahsed under the old account name will update ONLY WHEN THE PHONE IS SIGNED IN TO THE OLD ACCOUNT NAME  and visa versa.
    4. Likewise, you can sync only the apps, music, media purchased under the account the phone AND iTunes are signed in to.

  • Old apple id sign on issues...

    Some how I have 2 apple ids. I know I can not merge them together but when I try to access my "old" account it says that my password does not match. I try to reset it by using the two options that are available. One is birthday, which is saying that the birthday that I am entering is incorrect...pretty sure I am entering my birthday correctly. 2nd option is sending a email to my account. I have had the same account since having apple products and not getting the email what so ever (inbox, junk, spam, etc). Anyone can help?

    Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Did Apple fix the video quality issue in iMovie '09?

    I am a casual video editor and iMovie 08 had the perfect user experience / functionality for what I want to do.
    However, the known video quality issue (throwing away interlaced scan lines) made the result unacceptable since I archive our family video on DVDs. I have been forced to use iMovie HD for that reason. I have tried tricks such as converting the original DV files to AIF and deinterlace prior to import into iMovie08 but that did not seem to work either.
    So does anyone know if Apple fixed the video quality issue in iMovie '09.
    MESSAGE TO APPLE IF YOU ARE LISTENING:
    Please fix the video quality in iMovie09 if not already. Yes, the quality is ok for YouTube or Internet video but for those of us who want simple editing to archive our family video we cannot accept poor video quality. Dropping an interlace field effectively halves the vertical resolution. Thank you.

    Please explain this in more detail when you say Adaptive Deinterlacer. Are you talking about another program? If so, what program and what are the specific steps.
    Also, sounds like you are recommending imovie09. By saying to do the above, are you saying imovie09 still causes you too loose significant quality like imovie08? Are you saying you can use imovie08 or imovie09 with these steps to get high quality video or just imovie09? I guess I just need more specifics on how you do what you are describing and how imovie09 fits into this versus imovie08. I joined this whole discussion trying to figure out if upgrading imovie09 made a difference regarding the whole quality issue. I know it has more features, but I am more concerned about he quality of the video right now. Thanks.

    1. Double-click the Home button to close all Inactive Apps in Task Bar
    2. Hold the Apps in Task Bar down for a second or two until you see the minus sign
    3. Tap the minus sign to close App
    4. Tap center of screen to return to Home Screen
    5. Reset iPad. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 second until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider

    It's a straightforward port-forwarding issue.
    You need to forward ports to the internal ip address of your apple tv as follows:
    TCP 123
    TCP 3689
    UDP 5353
    TCP 80
    TCP 4343
    TCP 53
    This may also solve other problems you may have with homesharing...

    Today I went to the APPLE STORE in the Aventura Mall, Miami FL and the Staff pretended not to have heard anything about the subject, this could imply an I don't care attitude  or lack of knowledge of what is all over the news and internet on this  major issue.
    The solution given about going to settings, general, accesibility, reduce motion ON does not solve the serious problem.  What it most worry me is that I am wondering if I keep on using the IOS7 op system this issue of the motion sickness, dizziness, nauseas, etc coul cause brain damage?

    I don't think Apple would actually do anything about it. They have a 30 day return policy and if customers aren't happy with the product they can return it for a full refund. In fact,  I am pretty sure when you select agree to the "Terms and Conditions" of using the phone - it covers the fact

    People have to understand that Apple is a business and it is up to them whether they think it's a big enough problem to put in a patch to remove the effects.
    Simple solution is if you feel that you don't agree to their way of business and unable to use the iPhone to your fullest comfort, either return the product for a full refund or sign a petition...

  • Apple ID Problem - iMessage/FaceTime issues

    Hello, I ran into an issue this morning, and am seeking some assistance. I was trying to tackle this problem on my own, but I decided it would be better to just ask the community .
    This morning, I ran into an issue with no explanation. It suddenly happened, with no warning. When I checked my iPod Touch this morning, everything seemed normal. But, I tried to send my friend something through iMessage, and it didn't send. I first thought it was a simple Wi-Fi issue, but no matter how many times I tried, no matter who I tried to send a message to. I didn't send. I am on a secure network, and merely a few meters from my Wi-Fi Router. I later discovered FaceTime wasn't working too. I asked my friends through another way of communication if it was also down for them, and they all said that it was working fine for them. I even tried my mother's Apple ID, and it worked fine (we're on the same network)!!! Though I only tried iMessage and FaceTime, I'm sure anything that requires an Apple ID will not work with mine.
    A few hours, it just logged me out of iMessage, so I decided to try and log back in. I checked MULTIPLE TIMES if I was typing in my password correctly, and I was. Yet, it kept on saying, either:
    1. It cannot log me into iMessage, and to check my network connection.
    2. To type in my password AGAIN, and then #1 would pop up.
    I don't know what would cause this, or what I could have done to trigger it, but if ANYBODY knows how I can fix this issue, that would be great! Thank you for your time!

  • Apple iOS 8 and LEAP Issue

    We have an older SSID using LEAP (we are scheduled to migrate away from this BTW, but not soon enough) and existing Apple client devices who upgraded to iOS 8 are having authentication issues.
    Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this same issue.

    I was also stuck with this.  Luckily, I upgraded early so I was able to roll back to 7.1.2 on iPhone because Apple was still signing the previous version.  But I know that I cannot play trial and error because I may not be able to roll back if I upgrade again. Also, the current config utility for iPhone requires OS-X 10.9 which I don't have.
    My config (12.4(15)T on an old 871W) is many years old, and I had to do a lot of trial and error setting it up since 99% of examples on the internet are "this doesn't work, what is wrong with it" :-(

    (there is a local radio server on the router).
    I have no idea whether the above is kosher, but it works fine for my laptop and my iPhones whuch never had problems before until IOS 8.
    Unless Apple explicitely states that it has re-enabled LEAP (is LEAP the same as EAP ?), I would rather change my router to another flavour of WPA2 Enterprise. 
    within config mode, these are the options given by my router for the authentication command:
    router1(config-ssid)#authentication ?
      client          LEAP client information
      key-management  key management
      network-eap     leap method
      open            open method
      shared          shared method
    Note that I do not use "client" in my config.
    So what would be recommended in terms of ssid config to maintain similar authentication secrity AND please Apple ?
     This router caused me no end in headaches because I got the cripped "advanced security" instead of "advanced IP" without knowing there were options.  I realise it is time to replace but not sure by what model yet.

    I have the same problem and unfortunately the only way to get an iCloud ID is to set one up on an Apple device that uses the Apple OS opperating system.  If you don't own one, or can't qfford one, then you are simply shut out of using the iCloud.  Does it suck?  Yes.  Is there any solution other than buying an Apple device?  No.

  • Tap to click not working properly in Mountain Lion. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

    The tap to click does not work with mountain lion as it did before the mountain lion install. I purchased a brand new imac in August of 2011 and got a wireless keyboard and selected the wireless trackpad instead of a mouse.  The trackpad worked wonderful pre upgrade with tap to click. Now after the install of the newest beast, I have to actually press the trackpad rather than a slight tap. I have carpel tunnel and this is causing great stress upon my hand. How do I get apple to fix this major issue with mountain lion?

    I have an imac purchased in Aug. 2011 which came with Lion 10.6 (two uprades before mountain lion)
    Recently, I just purchased a macbook pro retina with Mountain Lion
    On my imac, my settings allowed me to "tap to click" everything EXCEPT the initial log in at the star up of my imac, again running Lion 10.6
    On my macbook pro retina which has Mountain Lion, I set up the "tap to click" option, but notice that a "hard" click was neccessary when trying to click things. I thought this was a macbook thing (my first one) so I went and upgraded my imac to Mountain LIon, BIG MISTAKE! Now both my imac AND my macbook only have limited "tap to click" options. Before mountain lion I could "tap" to highlight and select text, tap and drag, and many other thiings that Mountain Lion has disabled.
    I am truly surprised that no one has noticed this MAJOR issue.
    Is there a way to uninstall this update, similar to how on a PC you can go back to a restore point.
    On another note even the way PREVIEW has changed is less user friendly, there used to be icons on the bottom right corner of the screen, now I have to double tap and select the option I would like to switch between contacts and thumbnails. This is really annoying and is causing me time when reviewing files.
    Just in case anyone was wondering, I did go to system preferences -> trackpad -> select tap to click
    In fact almost all of the trackpad functions have been selected.

  • I updated to iTunes 10.5 on Vista. As with iTunes 10.0, The DEP will not allow iTunes to open.  WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE?  I can't update my telephone or iPod.  I can't even open the iTunes program!!!

    I am sick of dealing with this issue.  I wish not that I had never even started using any Apple products, beginning with iTunes.  WHEN IS APPLE GOING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND MAKE ITUNES SOMEHOW COMPATIBLE WITH DEP IN WINDOWS VISTA?
    That being said, Is there any way to resolve this?  What I did in the past is completely wipe ALL Apple files from my computer, and install an older version of iTunes.  It was at least functional.  It seems that any version of iTunes 10.0 or more recent is not compatible with the Data Execution Prevention in Windows.  You can not remove iTunes from DEP, yet DEP prevents iTunes from running.
    The down side is that I can't get the latest updates for my iPhone or iPod.  Now, I have a new phone for my husband that needs syncing on my iTunes, and I can't do that because iTunes won't even open.
    Can somebody help me out with this, please? 

    OK, lets do a complete overhaul to make sure it's working ok.
    First to check your Windows system file for any corruption:
    Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
    type in
    sfc /scannow
    let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
    Restart the computer.
    Start iTunes and see if it is ok.
    If it doesn't, will have to go through the whole process of uninstalling and installing acccording to the following steps:
    1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

    Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
    2. You should remove all instances of iTunes and the rest of the components listed below:
    it may be necessary to remove all traces of iTunes, QuickTime, and related software components from your computer before reinstalling iTunes.
    Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)

    3. Reboot your computer. Next, download iTunes from here:http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and install from scratch

    On your iPhone, try toggling Find My iPhone off, then back on after a few seconds.

  • HT4314 I signed my iPod out but when I sign in it wants an apple ID but signs me in to my iPhone account, help!!!

    All iPhones/iPods are signed to the same appleID. I have tried to log my iPods game centre account in but only wants the apple ID, yet when I sign the apple ID in it signs my iPod into my iPhones game centre account which is the problem!!!! My iPhones game centre is different to my iPods but I don't want that account on my iPod as already have one on my iPod, but it won't log me in. I know the username and password for them both but every time I want to sign in it asks me for my apple ID and signs me in to my iPhones account.
