Apple Welcome Video effects

I have seen a few videos on YouTube that has the same effect/transition that the apple welcome video has. Does anyone know where this effect/transition can be found? For reference, the video can be found on LikeTotallyAwesome channel.

not by me.. why not simply posting the direct URL of a specfic video?
in case, yor meant those 'flying Welcome' title - no, that can not be accomplished by a 20$ consumer app .. usually, pro-tools as AfterEffects or Motion are in use. with some endurance and 'fiddling' you could reenact such an effect with FinalCut/LiveType ..
and, Welcome, Ivan, to the  iMovie boards

  • Restore MBPro to boot to Welcome video

I'm selling my rMBPro and wanted to restore it so that it booted to the original Apple "Welcome" video, but I can't see to get there.
The rMBPro came with Lion and I upgraded to Mountain Lion, and after a couple of restores from the RECOVERY drive when I reboot it goes straight to the Country screen, skipping the "Welcome" intro altogether.
    Any way to remedy?
    Thx,

Press Command, Option and R keys in boot, open Disk Utility, erase the disk and install. When the install finishes, shut down the Mac

    Any advice welcome.

To clear to old before passing it on, open the Settings app and tap on General (left hand menu). Scroll down and tap on settings, then tap on Erase All Content and Settings.
If you have been synching the iPad to iTunes on a computer, you should also have backed it up. If you havn't backed it, you will want to do so before clearing the settings and use the back up to set up your new iPad.

  • Apple tv video quality vs hd tv and high def dvd's

ok...i know it supports 1080i, but does the video quality of video in itunes really look good compared against say a blu-ray disc, or hdtv signals? i'm sure it will get better (with a hardware or software upgrade?) if its not close to high def quality but want to know what i'm in store for if i buy appletv now...thanks. PS: i currently have directv HD and a ps3 for blu-ray, and my tv's are all HD...

Based on my own testing, the distinctions between an HD-DVD movie (which are true 1080) and an Apple TV video converted as its own maximum settings (which is 720) is actually quite noticeable if you have a 1080 TV set, but at the same I don't consider it a show-stopper. I watch a lot of HD broadcast content that's only 720p, and it's still very good.
An HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD will normally be in 1920 x 1080 resolution (1080p or 1080i, generally depending on your equipment). The Apple TV's maximum resolution is 1280 x 720 (basically 720p). Therefore, even an original HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD converted to Apple TV will need to be scaled down to 720p for display on the Apple TV.
Further, Elgato EyeTV actually scales these down somewhat lower, so HDTV recorded content could be even worse-off, depending on the original source. The standard Apple TV export settings use a 960 x 540 frame in order to keep the bit-rate and frame rate within tolerances (since a 720p signal is approximately 60fps, and the bitrates will generally exceed 5-6 mbps, which pushes the limits of the Apple TV).
Even more interestingly, Elgato's new turbo.264 dongle will only encode in "Apple TV" format at a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 (and if you do the math you will realize that this will be considerably less for a 16:9 aspect ratio video).
The result is that videos converted from an EyeTV Hybrid are technically much worse off on the Apple TV than viewing the original source material. Whether this is significant enough to be noticeable will depend on your output medium, but on my 62" DLP, the difference is quite apparent (although still far superior to an SDTV signal).
You can get 1280 x 720 content to play back at 60fps at 5mbps bit-rates on the Apple TV by using ffmpeg-based encoders and manually selecting higher settings, although it's been hit-and-miss in my own testing, and of course it creates gargantuan files. Elgato and others have obviously tried to stay with the more conservative settings to ensure that they can guarantee the broadcast possible range of support.
In fact, although most of the standard encoder settings max out at 2.5-3.0 mbps, I've successfully pushed up to 6 mbps through the Apple TV, although such content has to be synced rather than streamed, since even an 802.11n network has a hard time keeping up (it worked, but there were some drop-outs and glitches in the process). Of course, 6mbps content is going to fill up the Apple TV hard drive pretty quickly as well (you'd only be able to fit around 11 hours on the internal 40GB hard drive).
The other thing to keep in mind with DVD movies is that they come from film, which is a 24fps source (based on the physical nature of film). As a result, the distinctions between a 720p and 1080i signal are less prevalant when dealing with film content, since you won't get the full 60fps HDTV capabilities anyway. Interlacing can still create some nasty side-effects, but it's far less of an issue when you're dealing with less than half of the normal frames.
In my own experiences, I have an Apple TV that is connected to a 1080p upscaling DLP TV (native 1080i input, internalized de-interlacing), and a second Apple TV that is connected to a 720p LCD TV. With the first Apple TV, I can notice the difference between 720p and 1080i output settings only when viewing photos, since the remainder of the standard content doesn't exceed 720p anyway. Further, because my TV de-interlaces a 1080i signal to 1080p, I don't get the flicker that is normally associated with a 1080i signal.
On the second Apple TV, I leave the setting to 720p, since that's the native resolution of the second TV, and I get noticeable interlacing-based flickering on the 1080i, particularly with photo slideshows (mostly in the transitions).

  • 2nd generation apple tv video pause

My 2nd generation apple tv video pause's (or lags) during movies rented from itunes.  I have adjusted the video settings for lower resolution and checked on different TV in the house but still the same issue.  The pause only occurs on videos that are directly downloaded from itunes and does not occur on videos that are saved on the computer's itunes.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.

  • Does anyone know what software was used for Mac Welcome Video?

As you may remember when you turned your mac on for the first time, a ver neat welcome video played with upbeat music. Well I just wanted to know if anybody knew what program(s) was used to make it. If you know or have any idea please tell me. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to discussions. I tried to find something about it, but was not successful. I would guess though that this has been made using some of Apple's own software, everything else would not really make sense. And there actually is one tool in the portfolio capable of creating something like that: Motion. So, as an educated guess, I would say that's the one.

  • Video Effects Die Out

    Hey,
Near the end of a video I'm making, the video effects I'm using just gradually stop. I'm using Edge Work and Flase Color, the video is 1:47 long, and the effects start dieing at 1:36 or so. Does anybody know why? Thanks!

.. so how do I check the format?..
YOU did select the 'format' of your project in the 'Create New Project' dialog...
.. I'm not sure which harddrive it's on..
.. if you don't know.. me no psychic ... same: when creating New Project, you did choose a location.. somewhere ... somehow ..
.. I do have an external one connected... ..
.. and you're using it as 'out-of-the-box'? ...- which is usually wrong formatted ... follow advice given here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh1009.html
to use iM in its all shining glory, use it as a DV-editor, meaning: iMovie is by concept for working with firewire connected miniDV camcorders...
as long as you use iM as meant, no computer skills needed, if you try to teach the dog new tricks - you need some background know-how..

  • Missing video effects for iMac g5 w/ external iSight cam

I have a G5 iMac with an external iSight camera and I'm wondering why I do not have the option for video effects while using photo booth and iChat. My wife's macbook does include video effects, so my first bet is that Apple decided not to give me the option with my OS upgrade. Anyone have a way to remedy this without spending over 2K again?

DP, he has Photo Booth and Front Row, its the effects in iChat that he can't use, and I do think that's an intel function.

  • Cannot drop pictures into video effects window (not the usual problem)

    Hi there,
I cannot drop jpgs into the video effects window. I checked http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5700460&#5700460 and http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7384222&#7384222 and they got me going, but my issue is slightly different.
The plus sign appears when I click and drag the picture out of finder and into one of the open windows in video effects user backdrop window. When I release the mouse button, nothing is dragged to the location. I have tried different picture locations, moved them to the desktop first, and different picture locations, but no luck.
Any ideas? I’ll run disk perms in the meantime in case it is something goofy, but if anyone has any ideas I’d be grateful. Just got my first Mac two days ago and love it so far

    Hi,
Did the Pic file come from another computer ?
    Manually navigate to the Pic.
Highlight it and do a "Get Info" (Apple Key and I together)
DO you Own it and have Read and Write Access (near the bottom when you expand the various tabs).
Make sure you are the Owner and have Read and Write access.

  • Urgent, in the middle of project and missing ALL video effects!!!

I had to do a wipe and reload recently and when I reinstalled FCP I have NO video effects or audio effects in the viewer, nor when I click on Effects>Video Transition all greyed out.
I have Final Cut Studio 1 and did not install the whole studio suite-I only installed FCP from the suite as i am short on space on my MBP. I did install all the extra stuff outside the other apps.
    Where are they???
BTW My plugins folder in the app support library has:
    Text Scramble.bundle, Title 3d.bundle, Title Crawl.bundle, & Vector Shape.bundle

ok, I may have just screwed up... please read this forum to help me find out if I did or if something is really wrong.

  • Using video effects in quicktime pro

how can i access the video effects in quicktime pro every time i try and use the filters i cant apply them to the movie can any one help ie fade dissolve etc any threaaaaaaad would help can not find anything in the manuals have been looking for hours ??????????????

    Only looking for hours?
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/RedneckTexasXmas/index.html
A "movie" made from still images and some sound tracks. All made using QuickTime Pro.
The "transitions" were made by taking the still images and adding them "scaled" to a ten second audio track. The audio was deleted so then I had about 50 little ten second videos. Two of these videos were merged into one file using:
    http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/samplemakeeffectmovie/index.html
Thousands of combinations can be created.
They were all added over another QT track (map of Texas) and their position and transparency levels and layers were adjusted. Last I copied all of this file and added it "scaled" to my two sound tracks.
The "filters" can be accessed via the Export "Movie to QuickTIme Movie" but they are applied to the entire file at export. If you wish to use more than one filter you should first create separate files from your source project.
The end result (a 4 MB file) would require over 300 MB's if done in an application like iMovie. The transitions add nearly nothing to the total file size when you do them using QuickTIme Pro.

  • Why I can't see Apple website videos on Samsung tablet? Used many browsers, same result...

I could not find a website issues community and this one was the closest I could find. If this needs to be moved to a different community, please do so.
I realize it's cross platforms, but web browsing should be the same for everyone, no matter what device is used.
I can watch Apple website videos just fine on Windows/Chrome browser (or IE, Firefox) but can't on Samsung Android/Chrome browser (also tried Firefox, Opera, Samsung browser).
Other websites embedded videos are working (i.e. youtube, vimeo, forums etc.) so far it is only the Apple website embedded videos that are not working.
    Any idea why?

If it's any help, here is what Samsung Support says:

Alberto: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung technical support. How may I assist you?
    Alex: Hi there
Alex: Why I can't see Apple website videos on Samsung tablet? Used many browsers, same result...
Alex: I can watch Apple website videos just fine on Windows/Chrome browser (or IE, Firefox) but can't on Samsung Android/Chrome browser (also tried Firefox, Opera, Samsung browser). Other websites embedded videos are working (i.e. youtube, vimeo, forums etc.) so far it is only the Apple website embedded videos that are not working. Any idea why?
Alberto: Hello, I understand that you want to see apple website videos on Samsung tablet, is it correct?
    Alex: correct
Alberto: Thank you for the confirmation.
Alberto: What is the model number of your tablet? It starts with GT/SM which can be found on the rear panel.
Alex: Don't have it with me but it's the Tab S 8.4
Alex: Same goes for my phone, Galaxy S5
Alberto: Okay,Do you see any error message while browsing?
Alex: nope, no error, it just won't play any video on apple website, ALL other websites videos are plaing OKare
Alex: playing Ok is what I meant
Alex: and this is the same for my tablet AND my phone
Alex: devices are updated to the latest software bla, bla
Alberto: Alright, please restart the tablet once.
Alex: scale of 1 to 10 on tech advance level, I am at 7-8, just so you don't take me through power recycle and such
    Alex: you just did
    Alex: it's not that
Alberto: Could you give me a few minutes while I gather the information for you?
Alex: you can grab a galaxy tablet or a phone and try for yourself and yo'll probably notice it won't work...
Alberto: I appreciate your time and patience.
Alberto: As you are able to see other website's embedded videos on your tablet, it could be an issue with the compatibility of Apple website.
Alberto: There should be no issue with the trablet as other websites are working fine.
Alex: Can you transfer me to your Guru tech person to see if I can get a more elaborate answer and maybe a fix for this?
Alex: Then why the apple videos work fine on windows PC and the ONLY ones not working are Android devices?
Alberto: I have rechecked the information.
Alberto: As you are facing an issue only with a particular web site there should not be issue with the Samsung tablet.
Alberto: Also tablet is working fine with other web sites which indicates that there is an issue with that particular web site.
Alberto: There is no separate setting on the tablet to access any particular web site.
Alex: This much I figured, problem is what is causing it and how it can be solved? Again, issue is only on Android devices. PC Windows and iOS devices work good
Alberto: I am afraid; Samsung do not have information about the issues with a particular web site.
Alberto: I would have surely helped, if there had been information available with me.
Alex: Yes, I was afraid you'll say this...
Alex: Do you have an android device there? Try it yourself and see it will not work. Whatever it is IT IS A PROBLEM!!!
Alberto: I understand your requirement; however, it will not be possible for me to check this from here.
Alberto: You need to contact the web site support for further assistance.
Alberto: Is there anything I might be able to assist you with?
Alex: yeah, it went as expected, no fix for this... do you have a level 2 or 3 or 4 tech there?
Alberto: I will transfer this chat to my supervisor.
Alberto: Please be online while I transfer this chat.
    Alex: sure, thanks
    Alberto: Not a problem.
Please wait while I transfer the chat to 'Sammy'.

Sammy: Hello Alex. I am the supervisor of Alberto.
Sammy: I am going through the previous chat session.
    Alex: Ok, thanks
    Sammy: You are welcome.
Sammy: I appreciate your time and patience.
Sammy: I see that you are unable to access Apple website videos on your tab.
    Alex: and on my S5
Sammy: As you are able to access the videos from all the other web sites, it is not an issue with Samsung tab and Samsung do not have any control on this issue.
Sammy: It is an issue with that particular web site and you need to contact the web site support for further assistance.
Sammy: There is no separate setting on the tab to access a particular web site.
Alex: Yes, I need to do that. At this point it's the technical aspect that bothers me, not that I can't watch the video, I can use my iPhone or my PC to watch the video, but why the Android can't?
    Alex: Thank you Alberto
    Alex: or Sammy
Sammy: I understand your requirement; however, we do not have any information about this issue.
    Alex: Ok, thanks
Sammy: I apologize for the inconvenience.
Sammy: Is there anything else I can assist you with?
    Alex: no

  • Cant open video effects

I cant seem to open the video effects. When I go to Video - Show video effects, it is always grayed out. The short cut shift-command-E does nothing. I am also told by my friends that in the bottom left corner of a video chat window should display a video effects button to click on, but I dont have it. I am using version 4.0.5. Any ideas?

    Hi,
The Backdrop Video Effects only work for Intels.
The Other Effects may be Processor Specific. It is really Graphics card but Apple tend to use the Process based on the Original Computer specs as the likely card.
iChat pushes Video production for these effects to the Video card.
In Fact the iChat 4 specs that were apparently Updated on the 12th June sasy Intel for both sets of features

  • No Video effects

The previous version of IMovie had a number of enhancements to video clips, particular slow and backward motion. The "new" iMovie has absolutely no video effects, not one.
Had I known this upgrade took a few steps forward, but 3 back, I would have not made the upgrade.

+My upgraded replaced the previous iMovie version on my Mac. Is there a way I can still access both versions?+
Your previous iMovie version is stored on your HD in 'iMovie (previous version)' and you can use it. I would prefer you to download the iMovie HD 6.0.4 version (the previous version was 6.0.3) at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html as this version works better with iLife '08, if found.
    Hope this helped.
iMovie '08 is no good--no video FX. Easy to use but no functionality.

  • Video Effects - "clip" - where is it now ?

    Hi everyone,
I was looking at this tutorial this evening,
    http://www.wrigleyvideo.com/videotutorial/tutdes_ppro_pipedge.htm
In it, the gentleman shows how to add a simple frame around a piece of video that he was using for a video in video effect.
He applies a filter called "clip" and by changing the parameters, he creates a nice border around the video.
Where is this "clip" effect located ? is it gone now ? , I believe the tutorial was made with an older version, so perhaps the "trim" effect is now gone, or perhaps renamed to something else ?
    Dave.

Hello Curt and welcome to the group :-)
    P.S.
Apart from feeling rather foolish, here is a good question.
In Photoshop, we can quickly add a border to any image, by using the outline feature. Why would Adobe decide to remove the "clip" option ?
I don't understand this. Did they replace the "clip" feature with something more powerful ? ( I'll assume that there is no "outline" option that can be added to a video clip ( to give it a picture frame effect )
I thank everyone for their work-arounds this past week.
    Dave.
