AppleCare for iMac bought last year...

Hi Guys
My iMac will be one year very soon, and I want to buy AppleCare extended coverage...
How do I buy it online? Do I have to go by my name or by the iMac serial number?

The critical information for registering AppleCare online is the iMac serial number and the AppleCare enrollment number, which is sealed inside the AppleCare box. There is a serial number on the outside of the AppleCare box, but that is not relevant for registration.
You can register AppleCare without being in possession of the box if you know the enrollment number inside. Likewise another party can register AppleCare on your behalf if they have your iMac serial number and registration info, such as name, address, phone, and email address.
I'm not aware that the Apple Store online will register it, as I think they'll only ship it to you, and then you must register. I can't figure out why a sale and simultaneous registration couldn't be done online, except for the obvious problem that so many would try to wait until the last possible moment and some on a slow connection would be upset when they missed (or misunderstood) the deadline.

Applecare for iMac 20" (2007 First Gen)

Hey!
About to (wisely?) invest in Applecare for my Mac.However,on the Apple Store page,it's listed as £140 but I've seen it advertised in Dabs for £105!!
Will this be the right cover for my iMac.I assume it will be as you can only purchase it within the first year.
Part # is listed as "MA520ZM/A".

I can understand your feelings 2 years instead of a full 3 could come as a surprise, if nothing else the lesson here is to read the fine print and ask questions if you don’t understand. Here in the US it is common practice for extended warranties to be similar about the timing so I guess (being the old dog that I am) I'm used to it. Many people feel that buying Applecare when your first year of ownership is almost over is the right time to get it, I disagree. The standard warranty only covers telephone support for 90 days from the date of purchase. With Applecare you get phone support for up to three years (assuming Applecare is purchased the same time as the new Mac) personally I like the idea of that life line. The extra 2 years of hardware coverage is icing on the cake.
Also because Applecare can be bought at discounted prices if you are willing to shop for it I think this improves the value even more.
At any rate you now have peace of mind you iMac is covered for another 2 years and that is a good thing!

MiniDP to HDMI with audio for Imac bought in february

I want to know if there is any way I can output videos using HDMI with audio with an Imac bought in februaary 2010? I saw the Moshi cable but apparently it does not support audio for early 2010 macs. Any suggestions or info on this? What could I do?

Hi,
as far as I know there seems to be two versions of that Moshi adapter.
An earlier one without audio and a later one with audio support.
But I don't know how to distinguish one form the other. Maybe the Moshi website can offer some hints.
Since Apple lists the later one in the document plus sells it in their own Store I assume they tested it with the various Mac mentioned in that document.

Applecare for iMac - Airport Extreme registration

I have an iMac registered with Applecare, and I'm trying to register the same applecare with my Airport Extreme. Does anyone have any idea how to do it? I used the same activation code for iMac, but it won't let me register.

If you read the applecare agreement, you will find airport extreme, keyboard, and mouse etc. are covered automatically by iMac Applecare when you use these devices with the covered iMac. Anyways.. i got the answer from another forum, i actually don't need to register it online... Thanks all the same!

Since you live so far from your nearest Apple Store, contact them by phone to see if they will honor the replacement hard drive since there was a recall program. It officially ended last April, but if you tell them you weren't aware of this recall program, Apple may honor the recall replacement. The HD recall program wasn't widely announced to all Apple iMac users.
The hard drive replacement program was for 1 TB internal Seagate hard drives.
You need to check if your iMac meets the basic requirement for the free replacement drive.

SSAS DAX formula for same period last year not same month last year

The DAX function sameperiodlastyear, only works if the period we are interested in, is the same as a month.
However our Period 3 for 2014 was 05-march to 04-April and Period 3 in 2013 was 01-March to 31-March
I have a dim_Date table with a separate Year Number and Period Number so you be able to match on Period Number and Year - 1
The sort of formula I am after is this, so that the P3 total for 2013 matches the value reported as 'PY' against P3 2014
so for example
PY:=calculate(sum(amount), dim_date(year) = dim_date(year-1) && dim_date(period) = dim_date(period)
I cannot find an exact example of how to construct the DAX formula to achieve this.
I have tried DAXPatterns.com, but that does not have an exact example.

All built-in time intelligence functions work on the standard Gregorian calendar. The only fiscal calendars that can be handled by the built-in functions are those that end on another day than December 31, but otherwise respect the standard months/quarters.
The problem you are encountering in your [PY] is that CALCULATE() only allows simple boolean predicates (no calculations allowed. FILTER() is the function that allows you to execute arbitrary logic in your CALCULATE() filter arguments.
Try this:

Here's what's going on in that FILTER(). FILTER() is an iterator - it steps row-by-row through the table that you pass as the first argument, and returns only those rows that meet the criterion you set in the second argument.
We pass ALL( dim_date ). This strips the current filter context from the pivot table and returns every row of dim_date.
In the second argument to FILTER() we define the logic that will determine which rows to return. This comes in two parts, connected with the logical and operator, &&. I will only explain one in detail as we're using the same pattern in each part.
dim_date[year] is referring to the value of the column [year] based on where you are in the table (remember, FILTER() is stepping row-by-row through), so will return one value from the current row based on FILTER()'s iteration.
It then compares that value to what is returned by MAX( dim_date[year] ) - 1. This expression is not evaluated in the current row context of FILTER(), rather in the filter context of the pivot table (in a pivot table your row and column labels are referred
to as rowfilters and columnfilters - this nomenclature can get confusing). Thus, it returns whatever the current year of the pivot table is and subtracts one. When the value of [year] in dim_date matches the value returned by this expression, that row is part
of the set returned by FILTER().
Once FILTER() has completed its iteration, it returns the filtered table, and that table is used to set the filter context that SUM( <fact table>[amount] ) is evaluated in.

What Apple could do to unlock my iphone which I bought last year with the option at

I bought an iPhone 4 about a year ago at the Apple store in the Florida Mall in Orlandoin the form of no plan at & t and now I see the option of iphone unlocked factory, whatcould we do that we have a year ago to apple or at & t unlocked and can be used inother countries without the need to jailbreak or make changes to the original operating system?

Apple cannot unlock an iPhone on their own initiative; only the carrier can authorize an unlock. AT&T has not as of yet announced any plans to unlock an iPhone that was purchased as locked to them. Whether or not they will do so in the future, only AT&T would know, and they probably will not say unless and until they're ready to make an official announcement.

in 2013 i bought an app called teach yourself spanish language for £8.99 and introduced it into ipod touch 3. i did not sync it so when i bought a new ipod touch 5 and went to my apple id account i do not see this purchase there. is there any way of retriving proof of this purchase i think from my bank account details or is there any other way of doing it?

If you are signed in with the same account that you bought it with, it's the same app (the developer hasn't created and released a different but similarly named app ?), and you haven't changed countries since buying it, then it should show in the Purchased tab in the App Store app on your iPod - if it's not showing there then check to see if it's hidden : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

Try a reset ...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.
