Applescript for Reading Email to me

I want a script that will take my gmail account, find new emails, and read them to me using the "say" function and not display anything on the screen.  Is that possible?

Also I have this code:
display dialog "Enter Mailbox To Check:" default answer ""
set s to text returned of result
if s = "Inbox" then s = "INBOX"
tell application "Mail"
          set unreadMessages to (get every message of mailbox (s) of account "Gmail" whose read status is false)
          repeat with eachMessage in unreadMessages
                    say "Subject."
                    say (get subject of eachMessage)
                    say "Message."
                    say (get content of eachMessage)
                    set read status of eachMessage to true
          end repeat
end tell
I don't think this:
if s = "Inbox" then s = "INBOX"
is working though.  If I put in "Inbox" I want it to switch it to "INBOX" instead so it'll tell me his inbox.  Thanks!

  • Applescript for "remove email copies from server"

    I have an email POP account which I use on several computers as well as my cell phone.
    I'm looking for an applescript which I could place on the desktop of my primary computer which essentially performs the action located @ accounts> advanced> remove copies from server>"remove now" so that I could delete the emails I've already reviewed from my server before having them picked up by my other computers and phone.
    Anyone seen something like this?

    Is there an applescript command that will delete a message from the server.
    I have a lot of rules that route my emails when they come in but I do not want to delete them from the server when they are moved from the inbox. This allows me to rout my messages on my desktp and still recieve them on my iphone.
    However I do want to delete any messages "from the server" that are routed to my junk mail. This will save me from having to deal with them on my iphone and since they are in my junk I can look there if I suspect a false positive.
    Is there any such ability with applescript?

  • BAPI FM FOR READING EMAIL AND GIVING PARTNER INFO

    Hello All,
    As I am new to SAP,
    As per my requirement, I need to check my partner through email. User will give email and then I should get related partner details, here I cannot use  table. So i need FM for fetching partner by giving email and (  text ).
    Regards,
    Mithuunn.

    Try BAPI_BUPA_SEARCH_2.  According to the documentation:
    This function module enables you to search for business partners.
    You can enter the telephone and fax number, the e-mail address and the address attributes 'country', 'region', 'city' and 'postal code' as search criteria. The business partner role and central business partner data, such as business partner number and the match code fields MC_NAME1 and MC_NAME2 constitute additional search criteria.
    While the e-mail address and the URI address have to be entered in full, the address attributes and central data may contain wildcards (in the form of '*'). However, bear in mind that you must enter the country when using a wildcard to search for the telephone number, otherwise an error message is issued.
    Read the Function Module Documentation for more...
    Hope this helps!

  • Entourage 2008 : applescript for Filing Emails into folders?

    Hi all,
    I run a script that archives all emails that are older than 4 weeks into an Archive Folder in "On My Computer" in Entourage.
    I'm wondering is it possible to to the following via apple script for Entourage 2008:
    In the Archive folder, within each email find the senders email address. Then create a sub-folder (if it doesn't exist) with that senders domain as the name of the folder (eg if sender address was "[email protected]", it could create a folder called "customer.com" or "customer_com".
    Then move that email into that folder.
    if it can be done, this would save me a huge amount of time sorting old emails into subfolders for each customer.
    many thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

    I'm glad it did import. We've had several users that it simply refused to import an Entourage X Identity. BTW, using category colors is never remembered. It's one of the little hidden gems that you can use. Speaking of hidden gems, be sure to enable in the Entourage Address Book the First Name, Last Name columns and get rid of the old Name column. Finally real sorting.

    See this image to get acquainted with the new Entourage 2008 window.

    When you clicked to resolve, this did not delete the older Microsoft fonts. I suggest that you remove those. Users have reported they were activated again.
    This shouldn't be a problem for you since you moved to a new computer and didn't install Office X, but older versions of Office install the Microsoft fonts in the User's Library/Fonts folder. Anyone with older fonts here should delete them.
    BTW, Office can run without any of it's installed fonts. A few of it's menus might look a bit funky, but it's ok to remove all if you want to test.

  • HT5878 how to check the detail of font being used for reading the file received by an email

    I received word file as an attachment with email on my iphone. I want to check the detail on font being used for reading the word file received as attachment in an email.
    Thanks

    You don't need to copy the cert out of your configuration. OpenSSL has an "s_client" subcommand which can open an SSL connection and verify the cert for you. It even knows how to do STARTTLS. Something like this ought to do it:
    openssl s_client -starttls smtp -CAfile /path/to/ca/file -connect your.ironport:25
    The /path/to/ca/file is necessary to provide openssl with a cache of root CA certs. You could use -CApath instead of -CAfile if you have a hashed directory of root CA certs instead of a single file containing them all.
    You can also point this at your partner's SMTP server as well.

  • Read email message with AppleScript

    Hi!
    I just used this tip to remotely sleep my MacBook Pro:
    http://www.tuaw.com/2008/04/07/applescript-control-your-mac-with-an-e-mail/
    Now I would like that when the message comes with the subject as System and the text as Read an applescript would read what I wrote after that.
    Example:
    From: Me
    Subject: System
    Text: Sleep
    -> The computer runs applescript sleep and sleeps (so far it's working)
    From: Me
    Subject: System
    Text: Read
    -> The computer runs applescript read (that's the problem)
    How do I point the AppleScript to the received message and make it start reading?
    Is there a way to also unlock the screen (screensaver uses password)?
    Tank-you in advance for any help!

    The trick here (and the part that TUAW doesn't cover in that article) is that when a Mail rule triggers an AppleScript it passes a list of relevant messages to the script.
    Once you have that it's easy to act upon the message content.
    So instead of the simple shutdown script you write something more like:
    using terms from application "Mail"
     on perform mail action with messages theSelectedMessages for rule theRule
      repeat with eachMessage in theSelectedMessages
       -- Process the current message
       -- YOUR CODE HERE
      end repeat
     end perform mail action with messages
    end using terms from

  • How can I change the colours for read/unread emails on a Samsung S6?

    The only difference between the colours for read and unread emails on a Samsung S6 is a very pale grey versus white background.  Is it possible to change these colours, or font colours, so that the difference between the read and unread emails is more obvious?

    Hm, I belive it has nothing to do with phone, most likely it's the email application that handles settings. You need to fire your email application and check the settings. Unfortunately at least in GMail app there is no way to change the theme, you might want to look for other email clients that offer customisable themes or simply more themes to select from.  Appologies that I don't have any recommndations to make

    Hi,
    May I know how you could tell where the read receipts are generated from? What is your Outlook version?
    Sometimes Cached Mode may cause the duplicate read receipts issue, this is because the cached file is corrupted, please run Scanpst.exe to repair the .ost file to test the result:

  • "Not Read" receipt received from sender for all emails sent.

    We recently migrated from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and I've got one user that started having a strange problem after the migration.  She has Outlook set to request a read receipt for all emails that she sends and that works fine except that
    for every email she sends, she gets a "Not Read" receipt back and this not read receipt comes from her as if she sent the email to herself and didn't read it.  She also get the not read receipt if she deletes emails that are in her sent box
    and again, the not read receipt comes from her.
    This user is using Outlook 2007 SP3 with all available updates installed.  We've tried a new profile and we've also tried on a different computer with the same results.  She doesn't have any rules set up except for the one for clearing categories
    that I believe is a default rule.  I've checked the settings of the rule and there is nothing there that would be causing this.  The other strange thing is that these not read receipts seem to come in batches.  If she sends one email the the
    not read receipt doesn't show up or at least not immediately.  If she sends 2 or 3 messages then she'll get all of the not read receipts for those 2 or 3 messages at the same time.

    And to To determine the problem, Please test the feature on local side to check whether the symptom occurs. Meanwhile, you can let the sender in remote domain send message to other domain to

  • Applescript for folder reading

    I need a applescript for the below script.
    var inputDirectory="D:\\IndFiles";
    var inddFiles=new Array();
    inddFiles=Folder(inputDirectory).getFiles();
    //Suppress all dialogs
    app.scriptPreferences.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevels.neverInteract;
    for(var indCount=0; indCount < inddFiles.length; indCount++)
        if (String(inddFiles[indCount]).match(/\.indd$/i))
            var aDoc=app.open(File(inddFiles[indCount]), true);
            //Save and close
            aDoc.close(2036691744);
    Arivu.

    With AppleScript you can use either POSIX or HFS paths. You just need to specify which you are passing. Shell will use POSIX, AppleScript by default likes HFS if you are going to coerce to an alias specifier (which is what most apps expect when using AppleScript). Here is another example that uses spotlight to find your files.
    set theFolder to quoted form of POSIX path of (choose folder)
    set fileList to paragraphs of (do shell script "mdfind -onlyin " & theFolder & " kMDItemDisplayName == '*.indd'")
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS2"
    set user interaction level of script preferences to never interact
    repeat with i from 1 to count of fileList
    open (POSIX file (item i of fileList) as alias)
    -- do stuff
    close document 1 saving yes
    end repeat
    end tell
    I like 'mdfind' for its full POSIX paths and speed but it is recursive…
    If you have problems with 'your code' then you would do better to post it. And also what OS version  you are using?

  • Apple Mail - Load images for some email addresses automatically

    Is it possible in Apple Mail to put some email addresses on a white list so that the images within their emails always load?
    I don't want all images to load for every email I get, but I find it an annoyance to have to often load images from contacts I already trust.

    AppleScript to the rescue!  Thank you Linc Davis!!!
    Still find it strange Apple doesn't have this built into the Mail interface as an option and have to run a script [grumble].

  • Applescript for Mail Question

    Is it possible to create an Applescript for Mail, that, when an email with a specific subject line arrives in my inbox, an attached photograph would get sent immediately in response to the person who sent the email.  The subject lines would vary (e.g., people_1, or, places_16).  Every subject line would have a corresponding photo located somewhere on my hard drive (there would be hundreds of possibilities - the catalogue would be concentrated in one place).  So, for example, when "places_21" hits my Mail in box, an email would be generated in response, automatically, with a photo (places_21) attached.  Thank you!  Marcos

    Actually, it's not that hard to do, it's just that there are a lot of use cases, and a lot of caveats to consider.
    For example, do you intend/expect to work from a predefined list of image file names? Or do you want/expect to react to any filename that's requested?
    You say that the files would be 'somewhere on my hard drive'... how does the script know where to look? How does it resolve filename conflicts? What should happen if a file can't be found?
    As fane suggests, you should also consider an audit log, so you can see who asked for what, and when, along with errors that occurred on the way.
    So it's entirely do-able, just a lot of questions to answer before you get started.

  • Applescript to save email messages feasible?

    Can someone tell me if this is feasible? If it is I might try and learn Applescript to write it.
    At work we have a problem trying to get people to file emails correctly. We want each email to be saved to their respective project folders on the server as RTFs (or ODFs).
    So I'm wondering if the following Applescript is feasible?
    1) Open a read email, normal behaviour would ensue
    2) Open an unread email and a separate dialogue window pops up, prompting the user to choose a filename and somewhere to save the message (this should include the ability to choose a filename by clicking on existing files, as in a normal save dialogue).
    3) If the email has attachments the same pop-up window, or a separate one, would prompt the user to choose a (possibly different) folder to save the attachments, and allow the user to choose which attachments to save, including none.
    4) Lastly the the same pop-up window, or a separate one, would prompt the user for a folder within Mail to move the message to.

    A native AppleScript possibility, - although, not via a single window
    With respect to '2) Open an unread email ...' - one could create a 'Rule' in 'Mail' to execute an AppleScript script.
    The AppleScript script would open each e-Mail message, present a 'choose folder' dialog box (consult 'Library' windows' 'StandardAdditions.osax' dictionary), followed by a 'display dialog' (with a 'default answer ""' entry) for file name entry, The information from the two (2) dialog box'es would be concatenated to form a new file path.
    With respect to '3) If the email has attachments ...' - the list of attachments, of each e-Mail message, would be looped (repeat ... end repeat) through - with a 'choose folder' dialog displayed as the destination of the attachment. Naturally, if the attachments' name is to be user editable - a display dialog (with a 'default answer '""' entry) would be required. Again, the information from the two (2) dialog box'es would be concatenated to form a new file path.
    Finally, with respect to '4) ... prompt the user for a folder within Mail to move the message to.' is possible by a 'choose from list' dialog box; where the list is of the 'Mailbox' names of 'Mail'.
