Applescript LabelGraphics script error

When running the provided LabelGraphics applescript I get an error on the line:
my LabelGraphics of me to {myLabelType, myLabelStyleName, myLabelLayerName, myLabelHeight, myLabelOffset}
The error is:
Error number: -2470
Error string: A to:{myLabelType, myLabelStyleName, myLabelLayerName,myLabelHeight, myLabelOffset}
can't go after this LabelGraphics of me.
Does anyone know the proper syntax to get this to work? Thanks!

I added the lines of script as requested so the script in full now reads as:
set vpn_ip to do shell script "ifconfig tun0 | grep inet | awk '{print $2}'" # get current ip of vpn interface
display dialog vpn_id
set vpn_port to do shell script "curl -d \"user=USERNAME&pass=PASSWORD&client_id=$(cat ~/.pia_client_id)&local_ip=" & vpn_ip & "\"https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/vpninfo/port_forward_assignment 2> /dev/null|grep -oE \"[0-9]+\""
display dialog vpn_port
do shell script "defaults delete org.m0k.transmission BindPort" # delete previous port value
do shell script "defaults write org.m0k.transmission BindPort " & vpn_port & ""
do shell script "defaults delete org.m0k.transmission BindAddressIPv4" #delete previously written ipv4binding value
do shell script "defaults write org.m0k.transmission BindAddressIPv4 " & vpn_ip & "" #write current vpn ip into transmission.plist
(Censored my username and password).
I run the script and get this error:
error "The variable vpn_id is not defined." number -2753 from "vpn_id"
With the first new additional code highlighted "vpn_id".
display dialog vpn_id
I created the .pia_client_id file but running a line of code in Terminal (which was detailed in the oringal thread where I found the script). The code I ran in Terminal was:
head -n 100 /dev/urandom | md5 > ~/.pia_client_id
Thanks so much for your assistance so far, I really appreciate it.

  • Applescript 'Contacts' code error with Maverick

    After upgrading from MacOSX 10.6.8 to Maverick my applescripts are creating errors. One example is the following script which works fine if you run it from within the 'Applescript Editor.app' (v 2.6.1) under Maverick but creates a "Data paste section" error -1743 from the 'Contacts' app if you run the script indpendently. Any hints anyone on how I might return this script to full indpendent functionality?

    Well, after a few days of restoring my cellphone (The C6-01 I mentioned before), I came to this:
    - After Hard resetting, the Lock Code is still erroneous;
    - After firmware reinstalling, Lock Code is erroneous;
    - Pulling out the battery, leaving the cellphone with no power for several hours, give the same result;
    - Downgrading firmware (previous version) did not fix the problem;
    Interesting thing is, after power on, the cellphone asks for the code lock: entering ANY number, returns "Code Error", and simply goes back to normal operation.
    Everything is working, except I can no use de Lock Code, or any function related to it.
    Of course, is pretty annoying to enter the lock code every time I power-on the cell.

    I believe these are the commands (round and do shell script) which causes this error.
    because it's not recommended to use commands of the osax "Standard Additions"  in the 'tell application "System Events"' block, although it works most of the time.
    Here is the modified script that does the same thing :
    set expectedNumberOfHardDisks to 2
    set minimumFreeSpacePercentage to 60
    set sendToAddresses to {"[email protected]"}
    set sendImmediately to false -- If this setting is false the message will be created but won't be sent until someone manually clicks the "send" button. Only useful for testing!!!
    set almostFull to ""
    tell application "System Events"
         set hardDisks to (disks whose local volume is true and ejectable is false) -- list of all hard disk drives
         repeat with tDisk in hardDisks
              try
                   tell tDisk to set percentFree to (100 * (its free space)) div (its capacity)
                   if percentFree < minimumFreeSpacePercentage then
                        set almostFull to almostFull & (get name of tDisk) & ", "
                   end if
              end try
         end repeat
    end tell
    set notEnoughDisks to (count hardDisks) < expectedNumberOfHardDisks
    if notEnoughDisks or (almostFull is not "") then
         set messageText to "There is a potential problem with the hard disk drives on the server." & return & return & "Details:" & return
         if notEnoughDisks then set messageText to messageText & " * A hard disk drive may be missing" & return
         if almostFull is not "" then
              set computername to do shell script "/usr/sbin/networksetup -getcomputername"
              set messageText to messageText & " * The following hard disks may be close to full capacity: " & almostFull & computername & return
         end if
         tell application "Mail"
              activate
              tell (make new outgoing message with properties {visible:true, subject:"Warning: Low disk space", content:messageText})
                   repeat with i in sendToAddresses
                        make new to recipient at beginning of to recipients with properties {address:i}
                   end repeat
                   if sendImmediately then send
              end tell
         end tell
    end if

  • How to write an applescript and ignore errors

    I'm writing an applescript that uses a shell command that will always return an error. Applescript stops as soon as the error occurs. I want the applescript to continue running. How should I tell Applescript to ignore errors?

    The basic construct is a try/end try block which runs your own code when an error occurs rather than stopping your script.
    An alternative when using do shell script is to suppress stdout and stderr so that errors are not returned to the application. Which you can do by appending ' > /dev/null 2>&1 &' to the end of the shell command.
    Note, though, that your command will not work as written because 'choose folder' will return an alias object which can not be passed to a shell command as-is. Shell commands require unix-style paths for all file/folder parameters. Fortunately, AppleScript makes this easy by providing a POSIX path command which will convert an alias to a unix path. Additionally, since Mac paths can commonly include spaces and other non-shell safe characters, you may want to quote the path, too, like:
    <pre class=command>set shell_script to "usr/local/bin/readpst -o " & quoted form of POSIX path of mbox_output & " " & pst_input & " > /dev/null 2>&1 &"</pre>

  • Apple script errors. What can i do?

    Hi,
    i've been getting repeated Apple script errors for 2 different programs. The first is for FLV2iTunes. Its a media converter. The errors is:
    AppleScript error GrowHelperApp fot an error: A""" can't got after this class name (-2740)
    The other is for a program called visual hub and it says:
    Stack overflow (-2706)
    Are they related? What can I do? How do i identify and or fix the problem?
    I've tried deleting the plist files but that hasn't fixed anything

    The first is a syntax error that looks like a misplaced quote, and the stack overflow error can be caused by creating a list or saving properties that are too large. WIthout actually seeing the script(s) no one here will be able to tell.

  • The action "Run AppleScript" encountered an error.

    Hey,
    I'm using EOS utility to tether my camera to my computer and take photos.  I'm then using the "linked software" option in eos utility preferences to send it my Automator action.  Eos utility is pretending that my automator script is an application.
    The goal is that automator sends it to photoshop to run a specific action on it and then save it to a folder where I display the photos on a monitor.
    However everytime I take a photo I get this error message:
    "The action “Run AppleScript” encountered an error.  Check the actionʼs properties and try running the workflow again."
    Once I click "ok" then the script will continue running and everything works fine.
    This is my run applescript that I'm using in Automator:
    "on run {input, parameters}
              set input to input as text
              tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
      open file input
                        do action "GDaction" from "GDset"
              end tell
    end run"
    I assume there is an issue in the run applescript.  Can anyone help me revise it to avoid getting this error message everytime?

    Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I don't think you need to cast the file reference to a text string.
    Try this:
    on run {input, parameters}
              tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
                     open file input
                     do action "GDaction" from "GDset"
              end tell
    end run
    or
    on run {input, parameters}
              tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS5"
                     open alias input
                     do action "GDaction" from "GDset"
              end tell
    end run
    I'm not sure what is being passed and what photoshop is expecting.

  • AppleScript for Viscosity error

    I am trying to set up port forwarding using the application Viscosity. I found the following code online which allows me to port forward using Transmission:
    set
    vpn_ip to do shell script "ifconfig tun0 | grep inet | awk '{print $2}'" # get current ip of vpn interface
    set
    vpn_port to do shell script "curl -d \"user=MYUSERNAME&pass=MYPASSWORD&client_id=$(cat ~/.pia_client_id)&local_ip=" & vpn_ip & "\"https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/vpninfo/port_forward_assignment 2> /dev/null|grep -oE \"[0-9]+\""
    do shell script
    "defaults delete org.m0k.transmission BindPort" # delete previous port value
    do shell script
    "defaults write org.m0k.transmission BindPort " & vpn_port & ""
    do shell script
    "defaults delete org.m0k.transmission BindAddressIPv4" #delete previously written ipv4binding value
    do shell script
    "defaults write org.m0k.transmission BindAddressIPv4 " & vpn_ip & "" #write current vpn ip into transmission.plist
    I now get the following error status in AppleScript when I try to "run" the script:
    error "The command exited with a non-zero status." number 1
    Any ideas what this means and how I can fix it and get the script working?

  • When I try to use the print/save as pdf option, I get a scripting error and Firefox usually freezes.

    On my MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.8 and Firefox 3.6.13, I am trying to save documents as pdfs under the print window, I get a scripting error and Firefox usually freezes/becomes nonresponsive. This happens every time I tried to perform this task.

    This is a fresh install of Windows 7.  It is installed on virtual environment on my mac mini using the parallels virtualization application.
    I purchased the windows version of dream weaver CS 6 through an online website which I tried to install to my new windows instance.   This is the academic version of the Dreamweaver application with a perpetual license that I am trying to install.
    I verified my eligibility through adobe which gave me a link to download the CreateiveCloud Set-up program.  I downloaded the install program in my windows environment and program and the gave the above error message.  Below is a copy of my computers specs.

  • Firefox is slow to open and close. I get a "script error" that says it may be caused by a recently opened tab. What do I do to correct this problem. It is wreaking havoc when trying to open/close or move around the internet.

    I am getting a "script error" when I close out the internet, specifically Firefox. My backup internet explorer does not do this. This is slowing down the process of opening/closing Firefox. When I open Mozilla, I get "restore session" even though I have closed everything down. I have "removed program" and re-downloaded Mozilla 3 times and still this problem persists. What is causing it and how do I fix it?

  • Firefox 4.0 is my default browser, and I am receiving a script error message when I try to view online images in Family Tree Maker 2011, a genealogy program. Have not had problems until Firefox 4.0. Can't seem to find a setting in Firefox to fix this.

    Error is as follows: Line: 63 Char: 4344 Error: Unable to get value of the property 'offsetHeight': object is null or undefined Code: 0 URL: http://yui.yahooapis.com/combo?2.8.0/build/yuiloader-dom- event/yuiloader-dom-event.js&2.8.0/build/dragdrop/dragdrop- min.js&2.8.0/build/stylesheet/stylesheet- Do you want to continue running scripts on this page? Y/N buttons."

    I see. Well, I just tried to make IE my default browser, but it did not solve the problem. I receive the same script error when I view the image. (I may not have explained this thoroughly enough at first - I do get to view the image after answering the error message, but the print button embedded in the window doesn't work. Before, I never had a problem with viewing or printing.)
    I imagine that at this point I will either need to communicate this to the IE people, or possibly revert to an older version of IE.

  • Still having a problem with Firefox going to "restart a session" even after re-installing Firefox. Keeps giving me "script error" when closing down. How do I fix this?

    As stated previously...I have removed and re-installed Firefox, but am still getting "script error" when shutting it down and going to "restore session" when opening. Please advise what to do about this problem. Thank you.

    Firefox 21 and Firefox 22 running on Windows 7 have been reported to take a long time to "wake up" from sleep. I realize hibernation is different than sleep, but... this is the closest match for your description.
    Some users have reported that this problem is resolved in Firefox 23 (currently in beta). Others have had inconsistent luck with minimizing Firefox before letting Windows sleep and other measures.
    Please check out this (very long) thread for more information: [https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961898 browser freezes after resuming from sleep]
    Or jump to the part about Firefox 23: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/961898?page=3#answer-457321
    The fact that this just started recently suggests perhaps it is related to another program or update, but I don't think anyone has confirmed the exact interaction that causes the problem.

    Whenever I click on firefox, or when a pop-up occurs, I get a java script error that says, "TypeError: Components.classes[TvtPwmComponent_CID] is undefined". I don't know why. It first occurred while I was on ESPN while trying to watch college games live.
