Application deployment (entity members)

Hi,
I'm trying to deploy an application and I get this error:
Detail: exception during application deployment: Failed to update members Entitycom.hyperion.planning.HspRuntimeException: Failed to update Entity Members

How can I fix it?
I've reviewed Entity member names and aliases as to ensure following are met:
- No trailing space in members
- No special characters are used (such as double quotes, back slashes etc.)
- No duplicates across all member names and aliases
So...what could be?
Thanks,

You might have to go into more details to get to the root cause of this issue here is what I can suggest you to cover:-
- Login to EAS console and try to verify (just verify) the essbase outline and see for the errors
-Check the application logs
-Check essbase logs these will help you in tracking all the changes that were made to the outline.
Still if you are not able to find the problem then I would suggest you create a new essbase application and start to load the dimensions one by one once you get the root cause you can go back to the planning side and make the correction and redeploy the application from planning

    What am I missing? Note that on 9.0.4.2 and its previous versions the deployment was successful.

    We use EJB2.0 and as per the specifications entity class and getters/setters should be abstract. This is what we have. I have verified the dtd used in ejb-jars and it has references to the correct version. Here is an example <!DOCTYPE ejb-jar PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0//EN" "http://java.sun.com/dtd/ejb-jar_2_0.dtd">. Also the tag <cmp-version>2.x</cmp-version> is included for all the entity beans.
    Now I am just curious to know if anyone has tried deploying Entity Beans 2.0 on a 10.1.3? and if so was the deployment successful?

    I fought with this problem for a while. I got it to work, although I'm completely satisfied with the method.
    The problem, I think, stems from a mismatch between the J2SE version Jdeveloper is using and the Tools.jar. I started using J2SE 1.4.1 recently (which I installed via project setting - libraries - define)and this problem cropped up. I tried changing out tools.jar in my jdev/jdk/lib directory with the one from JDK 1.4.1 but to no avail.
    I went back to 1.3.1_02 and restored tools.jar and the problem went away.
    Hope this helps in some way.

  • Conditions for faster Application Deployment

    Hi together,
    we're in need to deploy some Applications to some computers as fast as it is possible.
    I've searched for criterias which influences the speed of a deployment, for example the client push intervall setting from the Client Settings, but i didn't found much information.
    Is there an overview / chart / graphic which shows the technical workflow which happens in the background when i target a collection with an application? I couldn't find something like that in the Technet Library or elsewhere in the internet.
    Also i'm interested in your experiences with a scenario like that if you have some.
    Thank you for all your tips and information!
    Rolf

    Client push has nothing to do with Application Deployment. This is only used to deploy the SCCM client.
    Assuming the following:
    Application has already been created and tested
    Application are deployed to a device collection
     The collection already contain the required members
    Under Client Settings you configure the "Client Policy polling interval". The default is 60 minutes.
    You could lower the time, but as a general rule I wouldn't do that. It will increase the load on your management points. But there are scenarios where this is the way to go.
    If this is a one time operation, or something you just want in you toolbox if something need to go out really fast, you could also trigger an update "now" using Client notification, by right-clicking the collection and select Client notification.
    A third option could be to install a right-click tool like this
    http://www.nowmicro.com/rct/
    Hope it helps...

  • How to make a collection based on successful application deployment?

    Hi,
    Does anyone know how I can make a collection from where the members are all the computers that have successfully installed a particular application.
    I saw this query from another site but i'm having a problem finding the assignmentID for the application I deployed.
    select SMS_R_System.ResourceId from  SMS_R_System inner join SMS_AppDeploymentAssetDetails on SMS_AppDeploymentAssetDetails.MachineID = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_AppDeploymentAssetDetails.AssignmentID = “16777222″ and SMS_AppDeploymentAssetDetails.StatusType
    = “5″
    Can someone also point me on where I can find the assignmentID for an application?

    Why do you want to do that? Just explain what you are trying to achieve.
    Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de
    Hi Torsten,
    I wanted to create a collection that will contain the computers which have succeeded an application deployment. So then I can have a list of it. Vice versa, I wanted a list of those that failed. I know that I can do that by replacing the status type to what
    ever corresponds Error or Fail. It just so happen that I can't find the assignmentID.
    Another issue that I'm facing is that my reporting node is not working. I'm currently working on it but I have to get the list of successful/failed application deployment as soon as possible. That's why I though of creating a collection containing only those
    computers.

  • Adding application roles as members to application roles

    Hi, I 'm using jdeveloper 11.1.1.3 and i'm trying to assign an application role as a member to another application role, but only entrprise users and roles can be added.
    The strange thing is that i can achieve that, at the deployed application, using enterprise manager. (and it's working)
    Do you have any idea how can i do this ?
    thanks
    Tilemahos

    JDev does not support application roles as members to other application roles in 11.1.1.3.0. We have added this support to the JDeveloper jazn-data.xml editor and you should see it in the next available patchset release. In the meantime, you could do this yourself in the xml editor.

  • Error while web application deployment in NetBeans5.5

    Error while web application deployment in NetBeans5.5. I am always getting Tomcat deployment error. using Netbeans 5.5.1 with bundeld tomcat. But in some machines its working fine.

    What is the error message you see?
    Are there any stacktraces or other relevant messages in the ide log file? (The ide log file is [userdir]/var/log/messages.log. On userdir: http://blogs.sun.com/karthikr/entry/jse_directories)
    You can also check the server log file to see if there are more detailed messages.
    You can also try setting ant's verbose level to debug or verbose (Tools | Options | Miscellaneous | Ant | Verbosity Level) and check the output.

  • Application deployment on WebLogic 10.3.2

    I am trying to understand the best practice to deploy web applications on WebLogic 10.3.2. Is it recommended have a managed server for each and every deployment or can we have multiple deployments under one managed server. Will there be any performance issues when multiple deployments are running on one managed server? Also can we have each deployment on one managed server listen on common http port?
    Please advice.

    **Is it recommended have a managed server for each and every deployment or can we have multiple deployments under one managed server.
    --You can deploy multiple applications of one single managed server.
    **Will there be any performance issues when multiple deployments are running on one managed server?
    --There will not be performance issue as such; however you have to make sure that the system and server configurations meets the requirements.
    --WebLogic Server allows you to configure a work manager where you define the rules and constraints for your application to boost the performance.

    **Also can we have each deployment on one managed server listen on common http port?
    --Just to make sure if I understood correctly, did you mean one deployment per managed server listen on same http port?
    --If yes, each managed server will have its own unique http port. So application deployed on that will be using a port associated with that managed server.
    --In case if you want all the applications to use a same IP/Port, you can use proxy which will route the requests to these applications deployed on different managed servers.

  • How to create different log files for each of web applications deployed in OC4J

    Hi All,
    I am using OC4J(from Oracle) v1.0.2.2 and Windows2000. Now I want to know
    1. how to create different log files for each of my deployed web applications ?
    2. what are the advantages in running multiple instances of oc4j and in what case we should run
    multiple instances of OC4J ?
    3. how to run OC4J as Windows2000 Service rather than Windows2000 Application ?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Kumar.

    Hi Avi,
    First of all I have given a first reading to log4j and I think there will some more easy way of logging debugging messages than log4j (If you could provide me a detailed explanation of a servlet,jsp,java bean that uses log4j and how to use log4j then it will be very helpful for me). The other easy ways (if I am not using log4j) to my problem i.e creating different log files for each of web applications deployed in oc4j are
    I have created multiple instances of OC4J that are configured to run on different ports and so on each instance I have deployed a single web application . And I started the 2 oc4j instances by transferring thier error/log messages to a file. And the other way is ..
    I have download from jakarta site a package called servhelper . This servhelper is a thread that is started in a startup servlet and stopped in the destroy method of that startup servlet. So this thread will automatically capture all the system.out.println's and will print those to a file. I believe that this thread program is synchronized. So in this method I need not run multiple instances of OC4J instead each deployed web application on single instance of oc4j uses the same thread program (ofcourse a copy of thread program is put in each of the deployed web applications directories) to log messages on to different log files.
    Can you comment on my above 2 approached to logging debugging messages and a compartive explanation to LOG4J and how to use LOG4J using a simple servlet, simple jsp is appreciated ...
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ravi.

  • How to use application managed entity manager in EJB?

    I finish reading The EntityManager Interface in JEE tutorial.
    I know I can use container manager entity manager in EJB, but I want to explore how to use application managed entity manager in EJB.
    Can I use application managed entity manager in EJB (container management JTA transaction is used)? Where do I should close entity manager if can?
    The following is an example from JEE tutorial, but didn't find where to calose entity manager. and can I create mutiple EntityManagerFactory objects and Entity Manager objects to use them in a JTA transaction?
    @PersistenceUnit
    EntityManagerFactory emf;
    EntityManager em;
    @Resource
    UserTransaction utx;
    em = emf.createEntityManager();
    try {
      utx.begin();
      em.persist(SomeEntity);
      em.merge(AnotherEntity);
      em.remove(ThirdEntity);
      utx.commit();
    } catch (Exception e) {
      utx.rollback();

    Seems like a very poor example, the whole power of EJBs is to use Container Managed Transactions so you don't NEED to manage the transaction and the entity manager yourself. What you posted is code I would expect in a non-JEE application, or in a piece of code which requires fine-tuned transaction boundaries such as batched data importing logic.
    If I were you I'd research JPA in steps.
    a) learn about JPA as an API outside of the scope of EJBs (recommended reading: the book 'Pro JPA 2')
    b) learn about Container Managed Transactions in EJBs
    c) learn about Bean Managed Transactions in EJBs
    Right now you're rushing into c). I can understand that it raises many question marks at this point.

    I've found solution for this error: it is necessary to add to web.xml following:
    <listener>
    <listener-class>com.sun.faces.config.ConfigureListener</listener-class>
    </listener>
    I've added this, and now get a deployment error:
    [Feb 8, 2011 6:04:33 PM] Exception: NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/adf/view/faces/event/industrial/VirtualFunctionKeyActionEvent
    [Feb 8, 2011 6:04:34 PM] Operation failed with error: oracle/adf/view/faces/event/industrial/VirtualFunctionKeyActionEvent
    Need help to solve the problem!

  • Please need Help with web application deployment in Jdeveloper 12c

    Hi,
    I am desperate for help guys. am trying to deploy a web application in weblogic server, but nothing works!!
    I created a project in jdeveloper and created a jsp page inside the project, all what i want is to run that page!
    I followed the instruction here: Deploying Fusion Web Applications , I don't really know if i did it right or wrong, the document is too detailed and not understood clearly.
    I am a newbie oracle user, and trying to build jsp web application connected to oracle database. application deployment fails it says: cannot run application error deploying IntegratedWeblogic..
    please could you tell me the steps of application deployment in Jdeveloper 12c?
    what deployment profiles I need to create (ear, war , mar)?
    what deployment descriptor I need for my app to work?
    please guys I am newbie to oracle, if you could give me simplified answers and straight instructions it will be appreciated .
    thank you

    hi Timo,
    I am building a local web application, meaning the server is internal and will not connect to the web, only to local pcs via network. the application will insert/select data from the database server. My company wants to embed oracle technology on the datatabse and that what am trying to. I am not that expert in java and oracle in general, my main knowledge are in php, html and mysql programming. through my long internet research a lot has recommended jsp with html to be a good choice.
    At beginning I played around with ADF faces, I found it annoying because I prefer coding than using drag and drop interfaces, which always create unwanted results.
    Also am not that professional java programmer, i started learning jsp and found it easier.
    What I am thinking of is to make a web based application that works in browsers (like php), this application has forms to insert data, and also has forms to output data for printing. that's all. I tried to make it in php, but through my little knowledge and internet researches it seems php does not work with oracle and java is the recommended choice (or it works with php but too complicated to make it)
    any recommendation will be much appreciated
    thank you

  • Error While deploying Entity Bean

    Hi,
    We are using JDeveloper 3.2.2 to deploy EJB into Oracle 9ias (Oracle 8.1.7 database). The following error occured while deploying entity bean.
    "Persistence provider declared in the deployment descriptor is not supported
    *** Errors occurred while deploying the EJB to 8i JVM ***
    *** Deployment completed ***"
    Please help us with the solution if anyone have come across this kind of error.

    Thank you Raghu, We were in a position to deploy the entity bean to the database. We solved the problem by adding the following parameters to the init.ora file
    (a) Java_max_sessionspace_size
    (b) java_soft_sessionspace_limit
    When I tried to create an EJB for a table in another schema, it started deploying the BC4J to that schama also. Is it necessary that BC4J should deploy in all the schemas of the database ? Can I deploy BC4J to one schema and grant required permissions to others users or create public synonym for BC4J ? Can you please tell me how I can deploy BC4J globally for an instance of Oracle (Applicable to all the schemas in that instance) ?
