Application from Spreadsheet

Hi,
I want to create an Application from Spreadsheet or migrate a Excel Application to Oracle Apex.
so I can Import a CSV File to the new Application that will be created.
but
how can i migrate an Excelapplication to Apex?
and how to import the excelfiles without importing CSV files so many times as files exist?

What table gets populated when you upload a csv file via create application from spreadsheet (is it only APEX_APPLICATION_FILES)? Because if i import the csv file in the repository it looks file when i download it. I not sure what controls the order of the csv file column order upon the upload create application from spreadsheet process. This is a very perplexing problem since it works on another apex 3.0/10.1 database environment.

  • Problem creating application from spreadsheet(.csv)

    I am experiencing a problem while creating an application from a spreadsheet (.csv file). I select upload csv file, the filename, and on the set table properties page the columns are in random order. Normally, the columns follow the order of the first line of the .csv file with comma separated column names. If the columns are not in the order specified in the .csv file, it cannot be loaded. I have used this method a few times and never had this problem in the past. Any information is appreciated.

    Hello,
    Sure you cannot utilize the spread sheet functions in creating a Database app.
    You can do what you want by either using SQL function in the Report source, or if you use Interactive report then you can do it using Actions Menu >> Format >> compute .. Then you save your report as a default report.

  • Possible to create an Application from Spreadsheet with Korean?

    When I try to use the wizard from importing a .csv file with Korean, Arabic, Japanese, etc. I choose UTF-8 as the File Character set, but the text comes in as "????-?????" Is there a way to get around this? Thanks.

    There are two possible explanations for this:
    1) You're inserting this data into a database with a character set which cannot support the encoding of these characters
    or
    2) The data you're importing via CSV is not encoded in UTF-8. If you're generating these CSV files from MS Excel, then the default CSV encoding will be specific to your client locale. If Arabic, it will be Arabic Windows 1256. If Korean, it will be Korean EUC (or Korean Windows 959). If Japanese, then it will be most likely Shift JIS.
    It will almost never be utf-8 coming from Excel, unless you explicitly export the data into utf-8.

  • Error in Reading from spreadsheet tool

    Hi all, 
    In my application I am using a Read from spreadsheet function to display the contents of a txt file saved in my computer continuously every 3 mins. This txt file gets updated once approximately every 3 minutes. Now the problem which I am facing is, If the txt files is getting updated at the exact time when the vi is trying to open the txt file it gives an error saying, "file already open!! Continue or Stop" If I press Continue it misses the values from the file. Is there any alternative to avoid this happening. It happens only once or twice in an hour. But still this error becomes fatal as there is a data loss.
    Can anyone please help find a way to avoid this error.

    Hi Nitzz,
    If you are accessing the same file frequently in two different places then access it using the low level file IO functions.
    Open the file reference at start and keep that in memry using global variable or functional global then close the same at the end of the application.

  • Create Table from Spreadsheet Error / Privileges

    Using Application Express 2.2.0.00.32.
    I can create a table using the Object Browser or via the SQL Command utility. If I try to load data from a csv or create an application from a spreadsheet, I get the following:
    ORA-20001: Unable to create modules. ORA-20001: create_table error: ORA-20001: Excel load run ddl error: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    I've tried searching the forums, but haven't found the needle in this haystack yet.
    Probably a common problem but it has me perplexed.
    What piece of the puzzle am I not understanding?

    Then make sure the parsing schema of that other workspace has create table privilege granted directly to it. Better yet, review the system privileges of the working schema and make sure the broken schema has the same privs. Do not grant privileges using roles.

    You might then need to log out of your account on your phone by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it

  • SSO to J2EE application from SAP Portal

    I am trying to do SSO from SAP Portal to a J2EE engine which runs on SAP Web AS.
    Here are my queries
    1. When I deploy a J2EE application on Web AS , I dont get any login screen. How can I make sure that if a user wants to access this J2EE application he should get a login screen and provide his login credentials first, only then would he be able to access the J2EE application.
    2.When I am done with Part 1. If a user tries to access this J2EE application from the Portal (asuming the user Id's in Portal and J2EE application are same and both are in the same domain) , I should not get any login screen and should be able to view the J2EE application.
    3.I want to use SAP Logon tickets generated by the Portal to enable SSO.
    I have done all the necessary configurations in the J2EE server.
    1. Imported the Portal's verify.der certificate.
    2. Adjusted the login modules stack for the application accordingly.
    Can anyone please help me out with this or throw some light.

    <b>Ans:</b> For doing this in the code of your J2EE application you have to write a if statement which will check if the user ID is coming from the backend or not. If yes then you display that logon page else you just pass that username which is coming from backend and displ;ay the page accordingly.

    <b>Ans:</b> Yes, this is what I am explaining you. Even I had also made same kind of J2EE application in which if the user is coming from the backend then he/she will look the J2EE screen else if the username is not coming then he will se the Login screen. Exactly same as what are looking for.

    <b>Ans:</b> I have used User Mapping instead of SAP Logon ticket. Well that is also the option for SSO but personally I think User Mapping is easy and better way for implementing SSO.

        I am working on a scenario where I need to access a Web Application from the Portal.
        I read about the Application Integrator that is provided by the Portal .
        I wanted to know that can I only have SSO to those Web Application that accept the userid and password and as URL parameters using Application Integrator , ie: those applications that have post method cannot be integrated.

        Please give me more details , we have a Lotes Notes Web application hosted on Domino server , another is J2EE based application. I need to achieve SSO to each of these applications from the SAP Portal.
       I followed the below listed steps:
       Created two systems one for each Web application based on the template generated from the application integrator. I entered the user mapping values for both the systems.
       I also created two IViews. When I preview , the logon page of the web application opens but the user credentials are not passed to the application.
       Please help me with the steps to achieve the SSO , from the reply I interpret that Logon ticket method was used to achieve the SSO and user mapping.

  • Info : Migrating Apex Application from Non-SSO to SSO environment

    Hi All,
    This post is to share my experience while working on APEX. This may be useful to some apex developer.
    If we migrate an apex application from a non-sso (i.e. http) to sso (i.e. https) environment, the flash chart doesn't work.
    I found that in the source of a Flash Chart region, we use #HOST# variable to locate the swf file. The environment variable takes the correct path but with "http" as prefix. But to access application pages "https" is used. Because of which, the swf file couldn't be located by the application.
    Work-around Solution : If I hard code the value i.e. the application path having "https" replacing #HOST# variable then the flash chart works fine. I couldn't found a way by which the #HOST# parameter value can be updated to take "https".
    The same environment host other non-sso applications as well.
    Any comments on this are welcomed.

    As I mentioned earlier, by Non-SSO I mean "http" and by SSO I mean "https". This is because, before migration the application was accessible using "http" and now we have to use "https" alongwith SSO to access the application. I only want to highlight the Flash Chart issue with this migration.
    The problem doesn't solves with your solution as I am getting correct instance/environment name with #HOST# but prefixed with "http" and not "https". Hence the application won't be able to locate the required swf file.
    Even the workaround I mentioned is only feasible, if an application has only few Flash Charts. However, if there are large no. of Flash charts in an application, then it would be a tedious task to update all flash chart source either by an application item (as you mentioned in your post) or hard coding the path itself. Also, every new Flash Chart source needs to be updated by a developer to fix this.
    A better solution is required by which the Flash chart source is not touched and the #HOST# variable for the application is updated to take the "https" prefixed to the swf file path.

    please suggest me what to do to resolve it.

    Check your trusted nodes in both applications.
    To do this go to PeopleTools->Security->Security Objects->Single Signon
    Make sure PSFT_HR is in the list under "Trust Authentication Tokens issued by these Nodes" in Enterprise Portal and PSFT_PA is in the list in HR/Campus Solutions.
    You could also check your authentication domain for both to make sure it is the same.
    This is set in PeopleTools->Web Profile->Web Profile Configuration under the General tab.

    How can I safely do this on Solaris? I've tried "iasdeploy removeapp" and "iasdeploy removemodule" with no luck. I want to clear all of this demo stuff out to make both the web and app server look more production like.

    Eric,
    these applications are applogics which are not controlled by the
    iasdeploy tool. Unfortunately, there is no tool available to remove
    these applications for you. What you can do is to manually remove all
    their entries, but be careful if you do that. If you remove the wrong
    keys you might break your ias installation, so be warned and make sure
    you backup the whole ias registry before attempting to remove anything.

  • Crashes when running applications from network share - "Windows cannot access the file for one of the following reasons"

    Hi,
    starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
    a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
    We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
    \\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
    \\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
    Any ideas?

    It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
    the share correctly.
    If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.

    One is when i want to créate a Sample Application from Uploaded Data following "InfoDiscGettingStarted.pdf"
