Any call made from the API will automatically be set to the “Session Timeout” period, no matter

  • A note on Setup Manager - Application Change Management Pack

    Hi All,
This is Mugunthan, Development manager for iSetup and Setup Manager. I am happy to begin my note with the launch of Application Change Management Pack 3.1. For those who are not aware of Application Change Management Pack, it is a new product built on top of Oracle Enterprise Manager and comprises of three major modules namely Setup Manager, Customization Manager and Patch Manager. You can find more information about this pack here (LCM: Oracle Application Change Management Pack Setup Manager is enhanced and advanced version of iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager. There were good amount of reasons to re-architect iSetup on Oracle Enterprise Manager as Setup Manager.
    Why Setup Manager?
Ability to migrate to data over point releases of EBS – EBS comes up with rollup patches on top of major releases periodically. It means that you have to certify the patch before it get deployed on to production which means that setup data are to be certified again. iSetup cannot connect between 12.0.4 to 12.0.6 or 12.0.6 to 12.1.1. We have achieved the data migration for above scenarios in Setup Manager (11i to R12 is not supported in Setup Manager)
Projects – Setup Manager supports grouping of Extracts, Transforms, Loads and Reports as a single entity and can be deployed multiple times to multiple targets. The project consists of one or more tasks (of type Extract/Load/Transform/Report) and can be orchestrated according to your ends. Project execution supports scheduling which means that you can use this feature to sync up setup data between two instances at periodic internal. Projects can be shared with other users which is remarkable difference between iSetup and Setup Manager. You can share your projects with others in a combined development environment. The functional configuration data (Extracts) are stored in Oracle Enterprise Manager. This means that you can refresh EBS without losing Extracts.
Integration with Change Approval mechanism – Execution of projects is integrated with change approval mechanism which means that you can control who executes what. Also, you have fine grain access control where you can control EBS targets assigned to a user.
Offline Transformation – I would say this is the most unique feature of Setup Manager and as an implementer you would welcome this feature very much. iSetup has got very limited capability on Transformation. Here we have gone way ahead and support Transformation on almost all Setup Objects. We present you the extracted data in excel sheets. You can download the excel template and work offline. All the attribute value fields in the excel sheet are editable which means that you supply your own value. For example, you can download Operating Unit data in xls file and change operating unit “OU100” to “OU200” and upload it back to system and load to target instance. Please note that any attribute of Operating Unit setup data can be edited. Also, system has got intelligence and once you upload the excel sheet, it automatically changes all the inventory organization which belongs to “OU100” to “OU200”. This behavior can be controlled using attribute mapping which you can create in Setup Manager. Hold on, this is not the end, also you can add more operating unit in excel, say OU300 and OU400 and load it to target instance. You can delete few Operating Units from extracted data in excel sheet and load the remaining to target instance. This gives you complete flexibility to manage (add/edit/delete) functional configuration data offline. This is fantastic feature and please have a look at how it works.
Advanced Filtering – Filter support in iSetup is not flexible where you cannot use comma separated values and complex sql join conditions. Also you do not know what query is executed behind the scenes to the data. All this problems are addressed in Setup Manager 3.1. We show you the “select clause” (SQL) associated with interface and provide you a text field where you can refer the select clause and provide your own custom where criteria (SQL). This means that filter support is unlimited and you can set filter any database columns. For example, you can extract “Responsibilities/Menu” which are active or created as on yesterday. You can extract all Operating Units excluding “OU100 and OU200”. We support all filter criteria that are supported by SQL.

    Hi,
your note very interesting. Is there any other way to extract the configuration using SQL? not using Enterprise Manager? hope this will be fastest way then using GUI base.
    Thanks,
    Fahmi Fahlevi

  • Need Suggestion on ECM application of Manager Self-Service Role

    Hi All,
In ECM application When manager select an employee working under him and click on "Plan" button, it will display a page with some information in the table. The column of this table is configured in backend using SPRO t-code.Now requirement is to add one column to the table and button with name "Promotion"  on this page.but the problem is "promotion"column and button will be visible for some users only and for other users, column and button should not visible.(ex differentiate the users who logged on to portal by secter wise)
As per the SAP delivered ECM code, now only the Personnel number of employee under manager is passing from portal to standard RFC when manger select the personal number working underhim and  click on "Plan" button and it will display the page where information are shown in table usng OADP configuration.
Can you please provide the suggestion how the below requirement is feasible or not and if feasible how we will achieve:
When user try to access the ECM page and click on "Plan' button, based on portal user id (wherher he belongs to some sector) it will display the next page with "Promotion" column and button.(NOTE:On Action Plan button , it will navigate to the page where details of employee will be shown who is woring under manager.Along this information we need Promotion column and button should be visible for some portal user id who belongs to ""XYZ" sector)
Let me know if you need more clarification
    Thanks

    Hi,
You just phrased my question in your words. All hooks are listed in hr_api_hooks table, each one with before and after methods.
Now how to determine, which hook is being called by which front-end process? For example, there are three different hooks - for Appraisal, Appraisal Template and Appraisal Period.
How to determine which one is called for my purpose, say validating before appraisal record is created.
This is just an example. There are number of processess related to assignment change. Using trial and error method will take long time and may be unreliable result in determining actual hook.
So, has any prepared a list of hooks to be used against each front-end process? Or has Oracle provides with any such document?
This is highly likely if one is involved in such work area.

  • New Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management

    Hi all,
please, note the newly created Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management if you want to use Oracle Clusterware as a general purpose cluster solution. The note intends to clarify and to explain the current situation in regards to the supportability of applications managed by Oracle Clusterware.
In environments not including Oracle RAC, Oracle Clusterware still provides the level of high availability that is commonly known to be achievable for applications and databases managed in (failover) cluster environments. These environments can include Oracle Single Instance Databases, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Enterprise Manager components, third party databases, or any other kind of application. (For more information on Oracle Clusterware 11g in general, please, refer to [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware].)
Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management is tightly integrated with the information on application failover management available on the [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware] and discusses typical questions like
    * Terminology
    * Script supportability and preconfigured agents
    * How to prove that action scripts work outside of Oracle Clusterware
    * Supportability of the Oracle Database Single Instance example scripts
    * How do I know whether a certain script is supported as a preconfigured agent?
Metalink Note 790189.1, however, does not change the level of support that has been introduced for these kind of configurations as of Oracle Database 10g Release 2: "Generally, Oracle does not support action scripts in the strict terms of supporting individual code fragments. Oracle fully supports the integration of individual action scripts proven to run outside of Oracle Clusterware into the Oracle Clusterware management stack. Supported operations therefore typically involve crs_* commands such as crs_profile, crs_register, crs_setperm, crs_getperm, crs_start, crs_stop, and crs_relocate invoked on custom resources. If actions scripts are used as part of a preconfigured agent, Oracle or the application provider who provides the agent will support the integration of this agent, while only the application provider will provide support for the individual action scripts."
    Just for your information. Thanks,
    Markus

not meant to be a question - rather an announcement.

are you using the node manager and starting the server from the admin console?
The node manager starts this as a process and sometimes the process is not getting

  • Application set management in BPC

    Hi Experts,
I am looking for information about application set management. Please share information about how to create application and application set.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The first step is copying appshell to a new appset. Once you create a new application set, you will have 2 applications already available in it. You can either copy them to create new applications or you can create them from scratch. Please refer to the below links from help.sap for more details:

  • HP Application LifeCycle Management - URL for use with another Project Management Tool

I'm trying to find a way to get a ALM Requirement URL that will work with other applications.  The URL from the COPY URL option (when right-clicking on the requirement) works for e-mails but I can't seem to get it to work for another project management application (Daptiv).  We would like to insert the QC Requirement link to another application where the user can access the requirements directly when clicking on the QC hyperlink.
We have HP Application Lifecycle Management Software Version 11.00 Enterprise Edition.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

As Abhishek mentioned we dont need a calc manger or EPMA to migrate classic planning applications. You just need to log into shared services, expand file system and take a file system export, paste the export to the destination environment, now use it as a source and perform an import in the shared services of destination server. It worth having a look at:

  • Cisco application networking manager license file - unable copy to server

    Hi all
We tried all the options like ftp, tftp, scp, etc., to copy cisco application networking manager license file from my pc to its server which has CISCO ADE OS .But unable to copy .can anybody know correct method to copy ??
    Thanks & Regards
    Sanjeevi

    Adrian,
In order to install the license you must have a license file on the ANM server and install it through the command line:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/app_ntwk_services/data_center_app_services/application_networking_manager/4.1/installation/guide/IG_config.html#wpmkr1120937
No other way to do it.
License file can either be copied to the ANM file system, or you can create a new empty license file on it and copy paste the license file content.
If you have no access to the ANM server through CLI, then a workaround might be:
         - install a new VMWARE machine where you have CLI access.
         - install ANM on it
         - copy license (other you copy the file through any means or you create a file and edit by copy pasting the license file content)
         - install license with the command  /opt/CSCOanm/bin/anm-license install /path/ANMxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.lic as described in the link above
         - save the VMware image
         - deploy the same VMWare image to the ESX where it has to be installed and where you have no access to CLI neither you can copy a file.
    Hope this helps,
    Domenico.

  • Error:  The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly

When trying to perform a HotSync using my Treo 700p, I'm suddenly getting this error: "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly." I have recently been sent a new Treo to replace a defective Treo, but until I received this new Treo, I have been syncing without problems for over 18 months.
Let me know if anyone has had similar problems and any solutions that you have successfully used.
    Thanks!

If you are saying that you synchronize a single Palm device BOTH at work and at home, you've likely explained why your data has become corrupted. A Palm device was not intended to be, and should never be used as, a 'data carrier' or storage device to move records from one Macintosh to another. To do so will almost always result in serious data corruption over time, the duplication of records and so on.
It can be less problematic to synchronize with a Windows platform on one end and a Macintosh on another, but I don't recommend that, as—once again—it places your records at risk.
Keep in mind that the problematic record or records are on your device, not in iCal, as demonstrated by the Conduit Manager warning. There may also be records corrupted in iCal on your Power Macintosh G5, but that's another issue.
You can correct the G5 issue, but first, it is important for you to outline just what you are presently—and have historically—been doing to 'synchronize' your home and work machines.

  • "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly."

I reinstalled Tiger because the syncserver got stuck when I tried to sync my Palm Z22.
Now when syncing I get: "The Application Conduit Manager quit unexpectedly." In isync I get "the hotsync software is not properly installed or it has never been opened. Try opening HotSync Manager, then return to iSync and choose Devices>Enable Palm again." even after installing and opening HotSyncManager.
    Can anyone help?

You have a very common problem, most likely caused by your choice to archive and install. Perform one of the following procedures:
Take a look at the permissions of the folders listed below by selecting each folder, one at a time, and—either using the I key sequence or the Get Info option in the File menu of the Finder—opening the information box for the folder. Your permissions for the folders listed below should appear as described below the pathname to that folder:
    For the Macintosh HD:Applications:Palm folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm Desktop folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
For the Macintosh HD:Library:Application Support:Palm HotSync folder:
    Ownership & Permissions
    You can: Read & Write
    Details
    Owner: <shortusername>
    Access: Read & Write
    Group: admin
    Access: Read & Write
    Others: Read only
You can either reset those values manually, then restart and recheck them to be sure that they are set correctly or use the Terminal application by typing these strings listed below this example—substituting your short user name—as shown below:
    sample: "sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm"
    actual: "sudo chown -R michaellafferty:admin /Applications/Palm"
…where michaellafferty is the <shortusername> in my case. Be sure to pay attention to the spaces in each string, and the direction of the / or \ forward and back slash characters.
Here are the appropriate Terminal entries. Each is is shown bulleted below, but actually begins with the term sudo:
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Applications/Palm
NOTE: at this point, you'll be asked to enter your login password
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Applications/Palm
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ HotSync/
    • sudo chown -R <shortusername>:admin /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
    • sudo chmod -R 775 /Library/Application\ Support/Palm\ Desktop/
Again, pay particular attention to the spaces and to the \ characters, as both are critical to the syntax of these commands. Remember to place your actual shortusername in the string where the <shortusername> placeholder is shown, as in the sample above. Do not include the < and > characters around your actual shortusername.
As a Palm user, don't elect to archive and install Mac OS X unless there is no other method to do so which insures that your applications and data are preserved.

  • How to disable autostart (application) when managed server restart ?

    Hi Ppl,
How to disable autostart (application) when managed server restart ?
I want some of the applications to remain not started. In WebSPhere, we have an option disable auto start for applications.
    I don't find in weblogic.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I agree with Faisal. When you shutdown your WL server while the application is running, the thing is when you start your server again, it would automatically start the application with it. Now if the application was down when you shutdown the server, it _the application_ won't start with the server.
So it depends on the application last state, when you start your server.
    Regards,
    Mohab
