Hey!
I've downloaded the FC Beta 2, and the new functions are awesome!
but, I can't find the "application interaction" function in the black window anymore, only the "convert artwork" function appears.
Does anyone have the same problem to, or am I looking at the wrong place?

Thanks for the reply, the function was not shown.
But after resetting the workarea everything was normal again.
I think de reason of all the problems was the previous version of FC.
Can I still change the workarea, or is that option temporarily disabled?

You can use web service to accept input XML for your application and remaining technology depends upon the nature of target system and your work involved. For example, to consume target system web service you can think of using JAX-WS.

Monitoring ZFS arc cache value and application interaction

Hello,
I have a question regarding the interaction between the ZFS ARC cache memory consumption and application memory interactions running on a server. I am running into a situation where I believe the primary enterprise application using an Oracle DB running on the server is not able to access any additional RAM when it requires more memory. I have read ZFS documentation and it is supposed to release ram for applications, but I am unsure if this is happening. How can I test this? I am running a T5120 Solaris 10, 32 GB of ram.
The primary application documentation says to size the server for 16 GB, it is usually running with 6 GB on a day to day basis. That is 17% of the memory. ZFS ARC cache is always around the 69-70% of the memory (23GB). I need to figure out if I am not seeing additional memory utilisation on the part of the application because it is poorly written and the ARC is not being released when requested. That is my running theory.
Also, polling the server for data, I found a high rate of page faults/second. The server seams to be running from 350 to 650 PageFaults/second and can spike to 1.8k during periodes of high load.
Is lowering the maximum value of the ARC the only option? This is suggested when using a DB. I would appreciate any suggestions. This is my first run in with ZFS.

From my experience, ZFS arc cache doesn't always release memory when there is contention (theoretically yes).
I always reduce the ZFS cache to bare minimal if the app data is on a shared storage like SAN or in other words, you don't use JBODs for your app data (be it DB or a file server). If you do use local storage for your app then should give it a reasonable amount of memory for better performance.

Unwanted application interaction after deployment

Hi,
At the moment we have three small JHeadstart (10.1.2) applications deployed against a iAS 9.0.4 on a True64 server, let's say appl A, B and C. Appl A has got CDM ruleframe implemented and works fine. B and C do not have CDM ruleframe implemented, no Table API's or any other Designer/Headstart related objects.
After deployment of B and C however, errors occur when DML-ing, related to CDM Ruleframe (??). Redeployment sometimes gets rid of the errors, sometimes not. So does restarting the OC4J container.
The following errors occur:
ORA-6550; line 1, column 7: PLS-00201: identifier 'QMS_TRANSACTION_MGT.OPEN_TRANSACTION' must be declared ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
Another one:
ORA-06550: line 1, column 13: PLS-00201: identifier 'CG$ERRORS.GETERRORS' must be declared ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: Statement ignored
These errors appear in the HTML page and do not occur when developing with JDeveloper, nor when deployed to the stand-alone OC4J container on the client developer machine.
I'm a little confused here, don't know what or where to look for. It seems that the applications make use of the same object(s) in some way. Could it be that a wrong database connection is applied. If so, that's strange because querying data goes fine. Can anyone give me a hint what to check or where to look for?

First to answer your question, there is no java error stack, java thinks all's fine.
But we solved the problem, there seemed indeed unwanted interaction between applications deployed on the same OC4J instance, caused by object sharing of some sort.
We solved it by trial and error. As we could reproduce the problem, we just included/excluded a library to the view controller project and then redeployed the application.
The errors were gone after we did the following:
1) In the project properties of the view controller project we included the following libraries:
BC4J Struts Runtime
ADF Web Runtime
Taglibs
2) In the deployment profile properties - File Groups - WEB-INF/lib - Contributors, we checked the following libraries:
ADF Model Runtime
BC4J Oracle Domains
BC4J Runtime
ADF Web Runtime

Font application interactive with Indesign

Does anyone know of a font application that works within Indesign CS3 on Snow Leopard.
YouControlfonts was a super duper application, but went south when Snow began falling.
I dont necessarily want to control or manage fonts like suitcase, just be able to group fonts together
and select them from group menu. Youcontrolfonts had a pulldown menu from the upper right corner
that allowed selection of font and the ability to group them.

there is a third party program called "You Control Fonts". It lets you place an icon in the top right corner, that when
clicked on brings up all your fonts as you have them arranged in Font Book. In collection sets, Bold sets,
any kind of set you make in Font Book,it reflects what is in the menu. It shows all your fonts, not just a select few you
have activated. It is the most time saving software I have every used. It interacts with ID in the fact that
you can highlight a font within the application and change it. It also lists most recently used. A SUPER TIME SAVER.
Unfortunately they discontinued support with "snow leopard" and now I am stuck with having to scroll through
all my fonts within ID to find the one I need or recently used, because ID doesnt have enough sense to know
what people need. Apple really screws their 3rd party supporter.
But thats what I am looking for.

Multiple Application Interactions In Bpel

I developd 3 Proceses(AsynchBpelProcessA.bpel,AsynchBpelProcessB.bpel,AsynchBpelProcessC.bpel)
Porblem when ever i invoke "AsynchBpelProcessA" it has to interact with "AsynchBpelProcessB" has to interact "AsynchBpelProcessC". response has sent to AsynchBpelProcessA Client.
buy my porcess did not stopping . it is going to indefinite loop. like a-b-c-a-b-c-a-b-c
Can any one suggest the solution?

It looks to me that, you have manually changed something in the BPEL process code.
A process designed via Jdev/designer can only have one variable in inputHeaderVariable syntax.
While Bpel standard supports calling inputHeaderVariable with two variables, if the generated file was tinkered with to add an extra variable, then this is not Jdev bug and you need to use the latest JDev 10.1.3.4.
If you are not manually modifying or tinkering the process, then let me know what are the errors you get out of compiling that new BPEL project in JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 ?

Flash Media Server 4.5: HLS and Applications Interaction

We are deploying FMS 4.5 on our farm and we thought that all the business rules at our FMS applications would be reused on connections from iDevices (HLS). This has not happened.
Is there any way to reuse the business rules which are on our FMS applications and access plugins to HLS content delivery? We mean business rules as geolocation authorization, hash check and lock services.

I think you must write an iOS app for all your needs and try to solve this outside FMS - in your apache to be more concrete.
For authentication, we've tested this:
- adding basic user/pass authentication to the location hls-live (in httpd.conf)
- viewing the stream through browser via https://user:pass@name-of-the-server/..../..m3u8
(user/pass sent encrypted via https, you need a certificate on the server to do all this)
That way, only authenticated user will view the stream.
(did it for the hds-live also)
not sure if this will work with iOS app though... my best guess is - it would.
I think that nothing you have server side as a asc script for rtmp will work for http streaming, someone correct me if i'm wrong...
I REALLY hope that some next version will include anything related to HLS protection in this context.

WD application- Interactive form -Not bringing values to Onclick method

I am working on Interactive form which has a submit button.
Requirement is Form should be pre-filled with fields in Item column1 and then user fills in a field in Item column C2.Finally my submit button on form should take c1,c2 values and I will be using this in Click method for further processing.
For this I have done following.
1- created a structure ZILAB( which has COLUMN 1 & COLUMN 2 FIELDS) and created a node adobe_data with cardinality 1.1, and then under it created another node called ITEM CARDINALITY 1..N).This is mapped to ZILAB.
2- Created job number as parameter and button1 .This button1 brings up the pre-filled item Column1 fields to form.
3- There is new column C2 in the output form which user will input.
4- When I click final submit button it is stopping in Onclick method.my code is bringing up C1 values but not bringing of C2 values(which is user input) in my Onclick event of SUbmit button-WDACTIVEX.
Also I have checked enable option, Assigned pdfsource, change type to activeX.I even tried to change element item name but still not able to get entries in onclick method.
What is wrong with my code/process?

J2Me and mobile application interact with PHP

Our company intend to develop a mobile application to enable customer to login to our url by using mobile phone which enable to update their contact details and check their accounts status. As our Web-server does not equipped with any Java Server, we will use a php program/script to listen to any incoming string from the client's connection.
As we are new to java /J2ME programming; Is there any sample code that we can refer for this project.

I don't know what you mean by "page content like true or false". To capture the content you use HttpURLConnection and read the content of the returned InputStream. As far as what you do with this content from there I can't say. I don't know if the server is sending you some HTML which has the words true or false somewhere in it, or XML with some sort of response code, or just plain text with true or false, or something else entirely.
I think you should read the networking tutorial, at least the part on working with URLs [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/index.html]

Question about desktop applications & interactivity w/ a server

Hello!
I'm new to Java programming (I'm a Web designer) and I'm working on a project and need some information/advice.
We are creating a desktop application in Java. Phase one will be "purely" desktop, but in the future we would like to add the capability to store/retrieve data from a remote secure server. (ie: users can upload their data to a secure server so that the information can be shared (eventually) or downloaded if the data is lost.)
Are there special considerations for this type of application? Do I need to worry now about this or can this sort of functionality be built in later without a lot of re-coding? As you can see, I'm unclear on the differences between desktop Java and web Java.

you'll have to create one or two additional loadData methods. Instead... Leave the creation of the input and output streams separate from the actual loading and saving of data.

   //read data from in
}You'll still have to write additional code that connects to the network resources later, but that's all you'll have to write since your loadData method can now accept any open InputStream as a source of input. Like Dr Nes said... A good object oriented aproach works best.
Try not to limit your programs if it's not neccesary.

Can Director Interact With Other Applications?

I am a CBT/E-Learning Developer looking for a way to author
Guided Help. I am thinking of how to develop interactive tutorials
that, instead of using screenshots of an application, interact with
the application itself.
For instance, let's imagine that a person is working in MS
Word and doesn't know how to save a file. He can click the icon for
the "Saving A File" lesson, and a caption displays on top of MS
Word that reads something like "Click FILE", along with some type
of indicator of the FILE button, such as an outline, highlight,
arrow, etc. The user clicks FILE, the File Menu drops down in MS
Word, and the next step of instructions is displayed. In this way,
the usre is guided through the steps of saving a file as he
actually performs the task in the software.
Can Director create this type of thing?

Thanks for replying. I used MS Word as just an example; the
type of software I'm wanting to use this for is police records
management software. I've been doing the interactive simulation
tutorials for them since 1999, using multimedia authoring tools
Demoshield and Opus Pro, and demo authoring tools RoboDemo and Demo
Builder. However, I wanted to get away from interactive tutorials
for 3 reasons:
(1) My client's software is frequently updated, and keeping
up with taking new screenshots is a hassle.
(2) I'm of the opinion that "at the moment of need", process
embedded "guided help" in the actual application is a much more
useful form of training than working through a simulation.
(3) It will greatly help my client's support staff and
training staff
I've been researching process embedded e-learning and guided
help for almost a year now. I've looked at everything from
multimedia authoring to macro software. I even found two programs
that do exactly what I want, but they are very very expensive, much
more expensive than Director.
Thanks for the tip on Hook Xtra; I'll check that out. Last
night I found an xtra called MasterApp, which may also do what I
need. I appreciate the concern about the difficulty of programming,
and I'm not a programmer (except HTML, and we all know how easy
that is). But I'm in this for the long haul, and would be using it
for potential new clients, not just my current client. I love
learning new software, and I have a membership to the IEEE Computer
Society, which gives me over 1300 online e-learning courses I can
take, including Director.

You can add interactions using the Interactions panel -- visible to the right in your screenshot, just above the Properties panel.
If that doesn't answer your question, please reply back with more details about what you're trying to do. What do you mean by "custom interaction"?

With display type native event is not working in my wd application

Dear Friends,
I have few interactive forms created webdynpro components.
in SFP: formtype: ZCI and inserted the webdynpro script in the layout and interface type is DDIC.
in Webdynpro: taken IF form UI element and with Enable check box checked(ON) and display type is Native.
when i run my wd application interactive forms is opening but when i click on button on webdynpro or on enter of input field event is not getting trigger. cursor is showing wait icon and in busymode only.
if i try with display type as activex it is working fine.
But i don't want to use type as Activex.
One more thing initially i have created 2 interative forms with those forms with displya type native is working fine, for new forms only the poblem is coming.
please let me know how to get rid of this.

i hope you have already followed the process what i mentioned in my question.
above that some times we are facing this busy mode issues, might be.. there coudl be some problem when we insert the webdynpro script.
on sfp layout from utilities insert the webdynpro script.
then sheck the script editor by selecting the data node in hierarchy tab.
make sur the both event *presave and *formload are filled with some in built script and the language is Java script and Client side.
then save activate the form and try.
all the best.

How to handle jquery and ajax call in single page application using coded ui

Hi,
I am facing a very tricky situation while using coded ui. My application interact with ajax and I was facing the issue to handle the ajax in the login page and other pages. I went through the post : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17849074/jquery-ajax-success-not-getting-triggered-with-coded-ui-test-project
and got solution for my problem. Now when ever a ajax is getting called in the page its getting handle with app config file. However the issue I am facing right now is.
When i click on a button a window will appear which is actually a "div tag". Please see the image below. In the that window when I have to select a item from drop down, the ajax will get called, however it will get called only for the window,
it wont be called for the entire page.. i.e. it will update only the window. I am not able to handle this ajax call, script gets stuck in refresh state. I will request you guys to provide a work around for it.
I would like to add more details - Visual studio version - 2013 update 3, IE11.
Application details: Its a single page application which uses bootstrap framework. All the ajax call are dynamic.

The window is not exactly a pop up window. Its a div tag in the same page. As this is my first time to work on a single page application I am not sure how it works. For the entire page I am able to handle the ajax call however the action performed
in the div tag is not getting handled.

I agree the point the UI has to be active or else the script will have issue during the playback. In my scenario I have to work on that window. I have to perform action on it. Now when the window(div thing) comes up the page in the background goes disable
till the action is performed on the window or the window is closed. I have to perform action on it then only I can proceed with the TC automation. Please let me know any option to solve this problem.
