Application Migration from JBOSS to Weblogic Server

Hi,
I am facing lots of issues while deploying an .ear file on Weblogic server. In the JBOSS server the application is working properly but whenever I am trying to deploy it on Weblogic server its throwing me an error stating :
"ERROR: No j2ee modules detected in EAR archive. Deployment aborted. "
I tried to convert the things to .war file and tried to deploy the application, the application got deployed but its throwing 'exception'.
Please revert me back with some solution.
Thanks
Trishul

Is this forum about Jboss?
Is it about Weblogic?
If so, why do you put a question about a non-Oracle non-database product in a forum on Oracle Database?

I changed schema locations of descriptor files as suggested at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13706/overview.htm#i1074199 (see the third category for '*Enterprise Bean 2.1*' in the listing Table 1-1). Alternatively, you may see the schema locations for EJB2.0 directly at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13719/dd_reference.htm#EJBPG481

JRE version in JBoss is 1.6.0_16. JVM in web logic is pointing to jrockit_160_22_D1.1.1-3 which is come in the package. It doesn't seem to be related to JVM version mismatch.
I think it is an issue with definitions in weblogic-cmp-rdbms-jar.xml file. How should be the definition of entity-descriptor appear for entity bean which has finder methods in ejb-jar.xml?
Please see the snippets from corresponding descriptor files below.

• Deploying ear application - migrating from OC4j to Weblogic

I am trying to migrate application from OC4J to weblogic server. Apart from usual differences in descriptors, structure of EAR etc. I came across unusual error:
"both the remote home and remote component interface must be specified. Currently, only one of them is specified"
It is about deploying session bean. Usual EJB3 stateless session bean with local and remote interface, deployed without any problem on OC4J and JBoss. Of course, I know home interfaces are something to do with EJB 2.1, but this is EJB3 application and, I guess, Weblogic has full support for it. Does it? :)
Anyway, is there workaround? Or am I missing something? I don't have to tell you what problems we will be facing if I have to restructure whole application with dozens and hundreds of session beans.
Thanks a lot!

OK. I just want to make sure that there are no problems with the deployment descriptors.
To pin point the problem do the following in JDeveloper:
1. Create a simple EJB 3.0 session bean
2. On that session bean create a Sample Java Client.
3. Run the Session Bean
4. Run the Client
5. If both are running fine, compare the deployment descriptors from the sample and your real application.

Frank,
Thanks. The @LOB annotations are missing.
Create table with:
CREATE TABLE TestBlob (id number PRIMARY KEY, xmlCol BLOB);
INSERT INTO TestBlob VALUES(1, EMPTY_BLOB());
The following is the complete listing for the EJB 3 class generated from table TestBlob.
package ejb3;
import java.io.Serializable;
import javax.persistence.Column;
import javax.persistence.Entity;
import javax.persistence.Id;
import javax.persistence.NamedQueries;
import javax.persistence.NamedQuery;
@Entity
@NamedQueries({
@NamedQuery(name = "Testblob.findAll", query = "select o from Testblob o")
public class Testblob implements Serializable {

• Migration from JBoss

Hi,
We have an application developed on Jboss 2.4.6 application server and Tomcat 4 web server and servlet engine. We are tring to migrate it to iPlanet Application server 6.5 enterprise edtion.
So is there any support or tools availbale for that?
Thanks and regards,
Nadika.

Nadika,
The next version of the migration tool (v3.0) will support migration from JBoss 3.0 & Tomcat 4.1 to Sun ONE App Server 7, not iPlanet App Server 6.5 though. It will be available early March 2003.

• How can i build application using Jdeveloper 10g for Weblogic server 10.3

Hi,
We have a requirement where in we want to build an SOA application using Jdeveloper 10g for Weblogic Server 10.3.
Is there any way to make a connection to Weblogic Server 10.3 from JDeveloper 10g? If there is any way please share it with me.
Thanks,

Amit,
SOA Suite is not yet certified for WLS 10.3. You have to wait for the certification of it.
At the moment you can't install the SOA Suite on WLS 10.3 nor connect from JDev 10.1.3 to it.

hi bala ,
for a windown server u can use VNC (virtual network connection) which opens a session on u r desktop later u can drag and drop form there vice versa and for a linux box you can use Win SCP which helps to open a session with interface to u r desktop in both cases you can upload and down load files very easiy just as we drag and drop items in a simple pc .. we use the same technique...

• Pagelets not rendering in Fusion ADF application pages deployed on standalone weblogic server

HI All,
I am creating a Pagelet Producer connection, and dragging a pagelet on the page as iframe, with height auto. When I run the application in the integrated weblogic server, I am able to see the pagelet. However when I deploy the application on the standalone weblogic server, then the pagelet isn't rendered.
I am using fusion ADF application 11.1.1.7 and standalone weblogic server v 10.3.6.
Thanks in advance for yours assistance. Please I need a solution for this uregently. DO let me know, if you need any additonal information.
Regards,

Sorry for the wrong infromation. The correct scenario is:
I have an ADF application, in which I have a Pagelet producer connection, pages and taskflows. This ADF application is inlcuded in a Webcenter Portal Framework application, as a shared library. When the WCF application is deployed on the Weblogic server, the pagelets don't appear on the pages.
I tried the FRAMEBUSTING context parameter to never but it didn't help.

Is the HDD in the 2009 15" MBP dead? (The original source of your data) If not, you might want ot take it out and put it in an enclosure.
You might try spotlight on know files to see if that gives you any clues where your data is located.
You might down load from the Internet OmniDiskSweeper (free) and open it. It should show you all of the files you have on your MBP and enable to locate them.
Ciao.

• Migrating from JBOSS to WAS V6.1

We are trying to migrate JBOSS apps to WAS V6.1,so plz can someone guide me what all do i need to do in order to start migration,any particular tool i can use for complete migration of JBOSS apps to WAS, and how do i create .WAR file for deployment on WAS since JBOSS apps just have a .war folder instead of .WAR file..help will be highly appreciated thanks in advance..

JBoss has war directories instead of files, yes. But it would also work with a war file. JBoss can also deploy jar and ear directories. Other application servers do not work that way. The SJSAS, for instance, must deploy war, jar and ear compressed files. And it is only after deployment that you can overwrite the files contained in the exploded directories that correspond to your war (or jar or ear) files.
You should try to import your project into the WebSphere IDE and then export a war file from it. I make emphasis on using the WS IDE because of the deployment descriptors you could need for deployment. Each application server needs a certain kind of deployment descriptor that is typically only CORRECTLY generated by a corresponding IDE (Use Eclipse for WebLogic, Sun ONE Studio for the SJSAS, and so on )
The topic on the Deployment Descriptors for each app server is still somewhat obscure to me and I cannot tell you any more about it.
You probably should try to post this question on a WebSphere specialized forum or an IBM one. I was surprised to find this here.
Regards and the best of lucks to you.

I come across a problem when I was migrating from jDev 11g TP4 to production version in that step also server got changed from OC4J to webLogic.
I am running java http servlet along other jspx pages. When everything was on OC4J there was no problem whit security on this servlet ( servlet was under same authorization automatically, and I was able to create new application module on this servlet by createRootApplicationModule
) but when I changed to WebLogic 10.3 I come across a numerous problems. First one is solved i managed to put the servlet under same authorization as jspx pages by
*<servlet>*
*<servlet-name>report</servlet-name>*
*<servlet-class>path.to.class</servlet-class>*
*<security-role-ref>*
*<role-name>name</role-name>*
*<role-link>valid-users</role-link>*
*</security-role-ref>*
*</servlet>*
but when I trying to create new application module I get JBO-30003 error which is Caused by:
oracle.adf.share.security.ADFSecurityAuthenticationException: JAAS login error.
Invalid null input: name
Has anybody any idea what I am doing wrong?
Thank you for your help, Rok Kogovšek

for example:
web.xml
<security-role>
<role-name>yourrole</role-name>
</security-role>
weblogic.xml
<security-role-assignment>
<role-name>yourrole</role-name>
<principal-name>wlsuser</principal-name > <!-- wlsuser is define at wls console-->
</security-role-assignment>

• Call one session EJB3 from jboss to weblogic 10

Hi everyone.
I have a big problem. I have a session ejb3 in a weblogic server. I need start this session from jboss server.The code I used is as follows:
Environment env = new Environment();
env.setInitialContextFactory(weblogic.jndi.Environment.DEFAULT_INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY);
env.setProviderURL("t3://ip:7001");
env.setSecurityPrincipal("weblogic");
env.setSecurityCredentials("cajamar1");
Hashtable props = env.getProperties();
I copied all the libraries that I have been asking in the JBOSS server. In the end I managed to work but when I do the lookup on my session I get this error message.

Hi,
Please make sure that you have generated the Client Side Artifacts of your EJB3.0 App and Placed then at the JBoss side (Client side). Please refert to ": *http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/04/02/generating-ejb3-clientjar/*
Also make sure that you have "weblogic.jar" file at Cleint Application Side.
Thanks

• Porting from JBoss to WebLogic

There's a migration tool on the WebLogic site (wltool.zip) that purports to convert JBoss 4.x deployment descriptors to WebLogic 9.x format. When I run the tool I get the following error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: weblogic/ejb20/dd/xml/DDUtils
at weblogic.tools.EJBHandler.<init>(EJBHandler.java:25)
at weblogic.tools.WLHandlerFactory.getHandler(WLHandlerFactory.java:11)
at weblogic.tools.jb2wl.convertToWL(jb2wl.java:45)
at weblogic.tools.jb2wl.<init>(jb2wl.java:28)
at weblogic.tools.jb2wl.main(jb2wl.java:62)
I've got every jar in the 9.2 server/lib in the classpath, but from what I can tell the package weblogic.ejb20.dd.xml doesn't exist.
Is there an update for the migration tool, or am I missing something?

It appears that tool is based on WLS 8.1 and hasn't been ported to 9.x. It is using internal classes so it won't just work on multiple WLS versions unchanged.
Unfortunately I don't have any better suggestion than downloading 8.1 and running the tool there to generate the weblogic descriptors.
You could than run the weblogic.DDConverter tool in 9.x to convert the 8.1 descriptors to the 9.x/JEE 5 versions if you wanted. 8.1 descriptors will work fine in 9.x unchanged though.

• Migration to a new weblogic server

Hi Iam trying to migration my application from the development to test environment,
For this i have to deploy to the test weblogic environment
for this i am doing the following
1. add the application server connection .
2. add the database details of the test db connection in the AM : business components > Database
3. change the AM : Configuration > manage configuration > change the jdbc soucename to the source name defined on the test env weblogic server.
And then iam deploying the application.
The deployment is going on fine.
But the page is not rendering....
the page structure is
panel header > title
querypanel > VC
table > searcjh results
Only the title of the page is displayed....
i suspect some where i have to missed the db connection setting and its not able to connect to the test db
Could you please suggest.. where all i need to change the db connection details so that it works.
thanks

Hello,
at first you have to verify, whether your DB connection have been set up correctly. You can do this in your administration console by clicking on Services/Data Source on your domain structure tree. First click the Monitoring tab to see whether the connection has tha running state. Then select your data source and switch to the Testing subtab of Monitoring tab. There you should select the radio button and click the "Test Data Soruce" button.
If the connection is verified and working, and the application still not rendering correctly, then take a look into your log file, and post here the error message
