Application Module retrieves different data than direct DB query

Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 1.1.1.6
I have a big headache trying to figure out why my application Module is retrieving different data than if I execute the query of my ViewObject directly to the data base. To prove me that I am not crazy I have created a non updateable view object based in this sql query
select * from hr_lookups;
The application module is connecting to the database using JDBC URL Connection localhost:1529/DB and user name apps. When I run the application module I can see rows and everything as expected.
If I connect to the same database using the same username, when I execute select * from hr_lookups; I get no rows!!!!
I don't know what else to do and I really will appreciate your help in this one.
Kind Regards

Hi Timo,
Thank you for your reply. Yes, I can see the exact same query. In fact all the rows are the same except one column. One attribute which is coming from a stored procedure. By this I mean the view object has the following structure;
select att1, att2, ... , mypackage.myprocedure(param1,param2) from tables where clauses;
So att1, att2, etc are the same whether I run the appModule or I copy and paste the query in a SQL WorkSheet and run it. The only different is the results of mypackage.myprocedure(param1,param2). So I have created a new view object from SQL query;
select mypackage.myprocedure(param1,param2) from dual. From application module it returns one value and directly from SQL WorkSheet returns different value...
Im sorry if I am not understandable but I am really desperate. Might it be permission or something like that???
Regards

    Thunderbird numbering is based on the Extended Support Releases, which are provided every seven "regular" cycles (thus after 7 6-week cycles = every 42 weeks) to minimize fallout from new features hitting the releases to frequently. Initially, those release were issued to organizations only which require some kind of internal review or certification of software prior to deployment.
    Currently we are in the "37.0" cycle and 38 beta 1 has just been released (but doesn't have the fix yet). Meaning, the next release after 31.6.0 won't be 31.7.0 but 38.0 already, followed by 38.1.0 up to 38.6.0, the continuing with 45.0, etc.

  • ADF Libary Issue - Application Module disappear from data control

    Hi All,
    I am facing an issue while adding an Application module to an ADF project as an ADF libray.
    I have two applications - ADF Application1 with Model1 project having an Application module AM1, ADF Application2 with Model2 project having an Application Module AM2
    I have created an ADF library jar file of Model1 project.
    When I add it to Model2 project, the Application Module AM2 of Model2 disappears and Application Module AM1 from the library appears in data control.
    Please suggest what could be wrong.

  • Referring Application Module from different Project

    I have two projects. a.jpr and b.jpr
    I need to refer an Application Module from b.jpr in the first project a.jpr
    In the Application Module edit Wizard, in the "available" list it shows all the Application Modules from the current project only.
    What do I have to do to see the Application Modules of the other project.
    In the "Project Settings" option, under "Dependencies" I have referred to the other project "b.jpr"
    But it didn't help.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    I have a similar problem as follows.
    I have two projects: a web WAR and an EJB3 EAR. On deployment all the EJB class files are generated into the WAR file and the contents of the EAR file only has the XML configuration and dependant jar files.
    How can I build the deployment EAR with the EJB classes within the jar? Why are they ending up in with the WAR WEB-INF/classes directory?
    This a significant problem and any help / advice would be appreciated.

  • Finder has a different date than the one in iphoto for date created

    ok...I found a bunch of pics that have the wrong date created. I changed it in iphoto. I also tried changing it in photoshop bridge. However, the finder is still using some weird date for the date created. Why is this? It's effecting my picture frame.

    I have a similar problem. I've downloaded a ton of pictures covering 5 months of touring into file folders on the computer. When I view those in the finder and ask to show the creation dates it lists them correctly. I then imported the pictures into iPhoto, and again, the creation dates are correct. Now when I drag selected pictures out of iPhoto into a desktop folder to be placed onto a digital picture frame, the creation dates all show the date and time they were imported into iPhoto.
    Is there a way to keep the original creation dates with those pictures when pulling them from iPhoto? If not I will have to go back to the original files and sort thru them using preview or some other method. I have tried this and the dates are preserved in the newly composed folder for importing to the picture frame, but it is really time consuming.

  • IPod has different dates than iCal

    I have a problem with how my 4th Gen iPod and Nano sync with iCal. Some - not all - of the appointments get moved around. I have a series of recurring appointments on Thursday in iCal that show up on Wednesday on both iPods. I have synce'ed the iPods several times but the problem still persists. Also, I noticed that "All Day" appointments in iCal show up as 3PM appointments on my iPod. What do I need to do to fix this? I can't trust my iPod as a calendar app if it gets the appointments wrong!

    I have a similar problem with my iPod/Calendar. There is a manual work around that worked for me. Seems to be a problem with iSync. Here is more details http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1747727&#1747727

  • [BUG] TP3 duplicating imported application module data controls

    Hi,
    I'm using TP3.
    I have an application project A which imports business components from an other project B. Whenever I open JDev (or the project A) the first time, the imported application modules from the other project B get an new entry in A's model.jpx file. This will lead to duplicate data controls in the Data Control panel.
    There might be other possible ways to get duplicate entries, but this one I can reproduce. I'm not sure if there are any implications having duplicate entries (my be longer start up time in OC4J).
    Can anybody confirm my findings?
    Timo

    Hi Frank,
    right now I don't have a test case, but I'll try to set one up. This will take some time. Till then I can only describe in detail what I did.
    I have an older application Module migrated from version 10.1.2.2 via 10.1.3.3 to 11TP3. The application is used to login a user to our application framework. User name and password are checked against a DB table and if correct some user information is compiled into a bean.
    In all of our other applications this login module is used to authenticate a user.
    I added the logingmodule.jar ro the classpath and the used 'file->import->business components' to import the application module into a new ADF Fusion Application (this was the method to import application modules from other projects in versions 10.1.2.1 and also worked in 10.1.3.3).
    Afer importing the jar I can add the login module to the new application module in the 'Data Model-> Application Aodule Instances' shuffle component.
    As far as I found out this triggers an entry in the model.jpx file:  <AppContainee
        Name="ber"
        ObjectType="JboProject">
        <DesignTime>
          <Attr Name="_SourceName" Value="loginModel.jar"/>
        </DesignTime>
      </AppContainee> This entry gets dulicated every time I open the project in JDev 11TP3 the first time.
    I read in the new doc, chapter 31, that there is a new method to reuse application modules (or other objects). This I'm currently checking out. Nonetheless I try to set up a test case.

  • Application Module getting and using.

    Hello all,
    I am currently using this code:
    DCDataControl dc = daContext.getBindingContext().findDataControl("AppModuleDataControl");
    if (dc instanceof DCJboDataControl) {
    ApplicationModule appModule = (ApplicationModule) dc.getDataProvider();
    ApplicationModuleImpl myAm = (ApplicationModuleImpl)appModule;
    It compiles well, but the problem is that the App Module that is returned is of type : WSApplicationModuleImpl.
    I need to use the getDBTransaction() method from ApplicationModuleImpl, since when I cast my appModule, i get an error, I was wondering if there was something I was doing wrong.
    I have searched high and low, and still haven't found what WSApplicationModuleImpl is for (i know that if I try to use some of the methods of ApplicationModuleImpl I get a moethod 'methodname' is not a working set Application Module method...)

    Steve,
    I followed the instructions in your article, which gave me a better understanding of the situation but did not resolve my particular issue. I was confused by all the statements and insinuations in both JDev and various articles that configuring application modules to use interfaces is really to support a client that is not colocated with the business services. I did not see the relevance of the interfaces to getting the appropriate data type back from the data control (MyAppModule rather than WSApplicationModuleImpl, for example). Anyway, I followed the steps from that article that related to the application module. I did not create interfaces for the other business components (views, entities, etc). I continued to get back the wrong data type when retreiving the application module from the data control in an action. So I kept looking for other clues and finally came across the article about when to use batch mode (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/batchmode/index.html). Reading that one of the benefits of batch mode is better enforcement of programming business calls to interfaces I thought I'd try changing the sync to immediate rather (from the default, batch). This did exactly what I was originally trying to do. It caused the data control to return a MyAppModuleImpl rather than a generic WSApplicationModuleImpl. Finally I could call methods on the business service from actions.
    After learning about batch mode, I understand that my change is not advisable in the grand scheme of clean design. Unfortunately, even though I believe that I have all the components in place to support a clean design, the batch mode seems to be preventing me from getting data type back.
    So I write this for the next person to run into ClassCastExceptions when attempting to retrieve their application module, since I haven't seen it suggested before: look into batch vs. immediate mode - at the very least it will help you diagnose the problem.

  • Using different data source and connection name

    Hi,
    We have a requirement where the data source for our application is already configured on the server by name like MyDBDataSource. But the database connection name in our application is like My_DB. So application module is using data source name like My_DBDS. If i change data source name in application module configuration manually to be MyDBDataSource, then it fails at runtime. This has been identified as bug as mentioned in this post
    http://andrejusb.blogspot.in/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html
    Is this still valid? I am using 11.1.1.6 version. Also want to know if there is any workaround for this ? If i change the name in web.xml at deployment time using script, will it work ?
    Thanks

    Hi Ami,
    Is your issue get solved ?
    I would like to mention few things about the database connection in application & data source in Weblogic.
    1. When you create a database connection in Application (for example say connection name as hr) then in the Application Module Database Configurations in the bc4j.xcfg File Custom JDBCDataSource will be set as <Custom JDBCDataSource="java:comp/env/jdbc/hrDS"/> for both ApplnModule shared & Local. So when you create data source in weblogic it is better to create the JNDI Name like jdbc/hrDS ( ie between the '/' and 'DS' you have to specify the name of database connection you created in the application ).What ever the Data source name is no matter.
    2.If you change the JNDI name of data source later like jdbc/hrconnectionDS then it is better to delete the old hr connection from application and recreate a connection as hrconnection. After that you have to edit bc4j.xcfg file in the Application Module--> Configurations and set Custom JDBCDataSource as below for both local & shared config.
    <Custom JDBCDataSource="java:comp/env/jdbc/hrconnectionDS"/>
    I hope this will help you.

  • Adobe Form with XML interface cannot retrieve all data from SAP

    hi all
    I want to use the Adobe forms for the real estate module.
    I had seen that adobe forms can have an interface with XML input and output as parameter.
    In the interface type only the /DOCPARAMS an the DOCXML are INPUT parameters which are available.
    No other INPUT parameter can be added to it.
    When i try to retrieve the data in real estate there are some default function modules for retrieving the data from real estate.
    But this function modules also are going to find out if the form which asks for this information has a IMPORT parameter
    for the required data. For example, the SENDER data is retrieved, but before the default function module retrieve this data
    the function module checks if the form has a INPUT parameter SENDER.
    And that is not the case. And i cannot create the SENDER parameter to it, because this INTERFACE type does not allow it.
    Does anybody know a solution herefore?
    kind regards,
    Anton Pierhagen

    Hi Bhaskar
    It is a long time ago, almost 2 years.
    I created my own custom development for calling the Adobe form. This custom development uses the correct function module interface with the IMPORT XML.
    The XML which i sent as IMPORT PARAMETER to the form is also created by own custom development. Via the default XML class of SAP
    So that was my solution
    Kind regards,

  • Generated getter in Application Module impl overrides superclass getter

    Hi,
    I today came across this issue:
    * Created an application module where the data model contains a view object named "Parent" (resulting form a parent-child relationship)
    => Application runs perfectly.
    * Created an application module implementation class (just created it, no further code added)
    => Application throws java.lang.NullPointerException at oracle.adf.model.binding.DCIteratorBinding.executeQueryIfNeeded(DCIteratorBinding.java:2164)
    After some debugging, it turned out that the issue is that JDeveloper created the following getter in the application module impl class:
    public ViewObjectImpl getParent() {
    return (ViewObjectImpl)findViewObject("Parent");
    which overrides public NamedObjectImpl getParent() from NamedObjectImpl, which is a superclass of ApplicationModuleImpl, due to the method's covariant return type.
    JDeveloper does not give me any warning or error, not while creating the impl class nor highlighted in the source code.
    Actually this would mean that I must manually assure that I never ever name a view object the same as any getter method in any of the ApplicationModuleImpl super classes which have a return type which is covariant to ViewObjectImpl. getParent() is one example, another is getProperty(). Even if it might be unlikely, this adds a potential source for some subtle issues.
    Is this known behavior of JDeveloper? Did I miss anything?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hi Frank,
    I agree that naming conventions can avoid this type of issue. Nevertheless, as a matter of usability and reliability, I think it would be good if JDeveloper at least gives a warning during code generation when it generates methods which would override a method from a superclass.
    In any case, I have logged a bug, lets see how it evolves...
    Thanks,
    Andreas

  • Binding Methods Exposed From Application Module

    Hi All,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.0.2. I have a method exposed on the Application Module that when invoked, it creates a row. I exposed AppModADImpl as a client interface. After doing this, I am now able to see the method under data control section. On my page, I when to bindings and tried to create a bind to this method, I am able to see the method but the OPERATIONS list is disabled, because of this, I am unable to create the bind to the page.
    The method I'm trying to bind is below
    public Row createSystemTypes() {
    ViewObjectImpl vo = getAdSystemTypes1();
    Row row = vo.createRow();
    vo.insertRow(row);
    return row;
    Because the Operations List if disabled, when I click OK, I get the Error "No Actiond defined for the selected Item"
    I would appreciate help to know why Im unable to bind the method to the page.

    As the method has been added to the client interface of the application module, you have to select the application module in the dialog, not a view object. After selecting the application module (or the data control or root node) you should see all methods which are part of the client interface.
    Still, I wold do like Joonas outlined: use drag and drop and if you don't like the button you get this way on the page, switch to source mode and remove it. This will keep hte generated binding in the page def. Removing the button in design view will remove both, button and binding.

  • How to retrieve the data from the RT card after the host rebooted??

    Thank you for your answer!
    how to design my application to retrieve the data that was collected on RT Series hardware while the host PC was not in communication with the embedded LabVIEW RT application.

    I rember correctly, that may be one of the more challenging varieties to pull this stunt off.
    First, you are going to have to make sure you have enough memory to buffer the data while the host if doing something else.
    If you have enough memory you may want explicitly work up a comm scheem between the host and PC (probaly using VI server) that will let the host know there is data avaiailable and it should get it.
