Application Moved - and it hasn't

when I export from LR5 to edit an image in Photoshop CC, I get a box announcing:
Application Moved
The application has been moved, and its path has
changed.  To update the product configuration, click
update.
Do Not Update               Update
I get this message EVERY TIME (although only once per session) I invoke Photoshop from Lightroom.
Of interest is this:  when I launched Photoshop before launching Lightroom in the hope it would pass the image to the open program, Lightroom gave the error message anyway and opened another Photoshop session.  I didn't think you could have two sessions running parallel and independantly.
I had CS6 installed when I installed LR5.  Then I installed CC.  Some time later, I used Adobe's uninstaller to remove CS6.
There's only a single version of Photoshop on my Mac - in Applications.
Somewhere in the system, Lightroom is reading a parameter set that's confusing it.  That's the most likely cause to one who doesn't know the internals even though I looked through all of the user and system files that I could find that appeared to be related.
Is there a file I can tweak or is there another way of resolving this annoyance?

It went away in 5.5.
I never found out the original cause (and, since it now worked, hadn’t pursued it further).

I have tried to download Mavericks on my 2010 iMac(10.6.8), but nothing happens, not even the install app downloads, also I tried to download chrome, I moved it to the applications folder and when I opened the folder it wasn't there. I have a 1tb hard drive that is mostly empty. By the way I just got this imac used from a reseller.

Mavericks downloads into the Applications folder, where you can install it.   Some Mac App Store Troubleshooting information and how to resume a download that was interrupted; some of the information here might get you an answer.   Failing that, try contacting Apple Support.

  • My MacBook Air keeps alerting that the startup disk is full and I've deleted applications, iTunes and MobileSync backups. What else??

I don't consider myself an advanced Mac user but I'm really trying to use my Macbook Air much more than I do... but the biggest hurdle for me is that it's been alerting me that the startup disk has been full for several months now no matter what I do.  I'm on 10.9.1 OSX and can't even update to the newer version because I'm always out of space.  I have 4GIGs of memory and a 60GB SSD of which 52GB are in use.  Using OmniDisk Sweeper, I see I have 14.6 GB in Library of which 8.1 GB is Mail and 5GB is Application Support (and I have nearly 480 MB in Caches and 191 in Containers, 131MB in Messages).  As for the rest, I've deleted my iTunes content multiple times but my iTunes library STILL says 1.7GBs in Music.  I also have 672MB in Movies which I moved to an external drive and trashed so I'm not sure what still exists here.  I only have 2 movie files and I deleted them both!  I also have 16.9 MB in hob, whatever that is.
I have 32.8 MB in Logs, 19.8 in Safari, 7.9 MB in Calendars, 5.6MB in Google, 4.3MB in Preferences (!!), and 1.6MB in GameKit (not sure what this is), 1.1MB in KeyChains.
I'm just not sure what's going on.  I have everything backed up via SuperDuper on a huge external drive and when I delete on my Mac, it doesn't seem to "take."  Is is syncing that's the problem?  Are my iTunes music files from my iPhone reinstalling back on the Mac as are all my photos and movies?  I don't have that checked in iTunes so that shouldn't be happening either.
Again, I'm not an advanced user so maybe I'm not completing a final step to make sure it doesn't sync with my other devices (I also have an iPad mini).  I like to get messages on my Macbook Air when I'm not near my phone but if it means I have 131MB in Messages that I can't pare down, I'd rather not.  I see no way to reduce the Messages file so that it's not so large.  I definitely want to get a handle on this before I even consider upgrading to a Macbook with more RAM and a bigger hard drive.
Final thoughts: Should I delete my mail accounts and just check mail on the web?  Can I delete most of the files in Application Support or leave them alone?  What's the difference between the MobileSync files and the MSYNC files?
    Thanks in advance for help!

  • I have the MacBook white and there hasn't been any updates in a while. I need to update to version 10.5 and im still on 10.4.11. Can anyone tell me what to do?

I have a MacBook white and there hasn't been an update for the Mac OS X (10.5). I'm still running on version 10.4.11. can someone tell me why I haven't gotten the update?

Because you must purchase major upgrades. I advise skipping Leopard and going directly to Snow Leopard:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • Moving and Resizing UIComponents

    Hi,
I am making a flex application in which I am drawing Square,
    Rectangle,Ellipse, line,etc with flex UIComponent.
I want to Moving and Resize the UIComponents .
And what would be a better way to put UIComponent on some
container and resize and move the container ? Or directly move and
    resize the UIComponent ?
Can any one help me ??

    Hello all,
regarding what I asked about, I've found this https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Resiz … Partitions
So the question now is about moving. If I dd sda5 to sda4 will I have to set something up for it work? Like some offsets/adresses?
If I am able to move sda5 to sda4, the rest will be fairly easy. Any about my partitiong layout - it's manual, I've used fdisk, cryptsetup, mkfs and the lvm tools that come with the arch install iso.
Also some have misunderstood - currently everything but the boot partition, which is on another drive, is encrypted - in one LUKS partition and inside it there is an LVM with the different partitions.
I've tested on a virtual machine by doing the following:
    unmount partitions
move the luks partition by using dd with opts bs=4096 conv=notrunc, noerror, sync
after that follow https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Resiz … Partitions
Worked like a charm(if you need to remove mappers use dmsetup).
After that: the uuid's of the lvm's are the same so that's cool. Just need to get the UUID of the new luks partition and set it in grub's cryptroot parameter.
    That's all
Still I think I will backup everything first, then I will try this.

  • Newbie with application problem and question on cam chats!!

Hi, ive just got my macbook yesterday and I bought the student edition of adobe creative suite master edition for uni. After buying this and installing it, i wanted to save the main applications in a stack for easy access rather than going to the HDD then apps then clicking on the individual. As there are approx 14 application in this package, it is too many to have in the dock so a stack out be great.
However when i dragged them into the a new stack it carried along all the other files with each program which was messy. So i went back and did it again but by using the app itself. When i went to open them it said it had been moved and needed repairing. So i reinstalled the lot and i now have them in the application folder again.
Please can you help me to create a stack with all the applications, i think these would need to be short cuts but i dont know how to create them. Thanks for your time.
Oh. Leopard is amazing. I hooked up ichat with an aim account and its wicked, only have one contact though. What other instant messenger can i use that works with the cam rather than loading up windows and msn. I currently have ichat which works and adium.

    Hi shorty,
Welcome to the bright side of the computing universe. Here's your first lesson in Mac terminology. The Mac equivalent of the Windows 'shortcut' is called an 'alias'.
Here are ways to create and use aliases:
To create an alias, click the item to select it, and choose File > Make Alias (or Command - L). You can create as many aliases as you need for a single item, and you can move the aliases to folders or to the desktop.
To create an alias for an item and relocate it in one step, hold down the Command and Option keys while you drag the item’s icon to another folder or to the desktop. Release the mouse button before releasing the Command and Option keys.
To find the original item of an alias, select the alias and choose File > Show Original.
    Enjoy your new MacBook… =)

  • Hello!  I have an iMac that I lose the audio output for certain profiles.  The audio output will work on one profile, but when switching to another profile, I lose the audio output.  I've reset the NVRAM/PRAM and that hasn't solved the problem.  Help!

    Hello!
I have an iMac (running iOS 10.6.8, not upgraded to Lion) that I'm having audio issues with.  I have 5 profiles on this machine.  The audio output will work fine out of one profile, then when switched to another, the profile will not have any audio output at all.  Rebooting the machine will occasionally solve the problem.  Administrator permissions are not the issue since this has also manifested itself on the administrator profile. I've also reset the NVRAM/PRAM and that hasn't helped.  All my software is up to date and I recently upgraded the RAM to 2x2GB sticks.  This problem was existing prior to the RAM upgrade.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tony,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Moved and trying to reset time capsule

We have recently moved and I am having trouble getting my time capsule to recognize that I have an internet connection. I have an ethernet cord plugged in to the back but it still reads no signal. Plus my airport is reading no wireless devices and my computer is in the same room. Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?

    Welcome to the discussions!
Can you provide a bit more information about your connection problem?
Are you getting a flashing amber light on the Time Capsule?
If so, open Hard Drive > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility and click on Manual Setup, a summary page will be displayed. Click on the amber dot and a message will be displayed about your problem. What is the message?
What type of modem are you using, cable or DSL?

  • Managing Application Installs and Uninstalls with AD Groups Tied to Applications

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to come up with a way to manage application deployment and removal based on user collections that have corresponding security groups in AD. I'm using SCCM 2012 r2.
Historically, I've done the following to deploy applications: -
Create a new application, setting the user experience to install for system.
Create two device collections, one named install and the other named uninstall.
Create two application deployments, one to install (targeted at the install device collection) and one to uninstall (targeted at the uninstall device collection).
Add device to install collection to install application.
To uninstall the application, remove the device from the install collection and add it to the uninstall collection.
That has all been working great but moving forward, I'd like to manage deployment based on user collections. So I've approached this as follows: -
For installations, create a new application setting the user experience to install for user.
Create a security group in AD that corresponds to the new application.
Once SCCM synchronizes with AD and the new group appears under SCCM users, create a new user collection making the security group a direct member of the collection. Set the collection to update incrementally.
Create a required installation deployment for the new application and target it at user collection for the application.
Add a user object in AD to AD security group for the application.
Once everything syncs, the user logged on to a workstation gets the application. Up to here, everything works well.
For uninstalls, I've created an AD security group called Application Uninstalls and made domain users a member.
Once this synchronizes with SCCM, I've created a new user collection called Application Uninstalls and made the security group a direct member of the collection. Again, the collection is set to incremental update.
Create an uninstallation deployment for the new application and target it at the 'Application Uninstalls' collection.
The idea behind the uninstallation is to take advantage of the 'application installation deployments take priority over uninstallation deployments'. Because every user is a member of domain users, if they are not a member of the relevant security group to
have an application installed, then the application is automatically uninstalled. The trouble is, if I remove a user from the AD security group where they get the application, the uninstall deployment isn't kicking in like I would expect and removing the application.
Any thoughts? Is this a logical approach or is it flawed?
    Any input appreciated!
    Bazzaroo

if I'm reading what you are saying correctly, then has the user logged out and then back on? Since the deployment is to the collection based on group membership, the client would not know that the user is no longer a member of the targeted collection until
the user token has been updated, which happens at log off/log on time.
It does depend on the collection membership - if the collection membership is to the user group, so that the collection member shows the use group, then the log off/log on would be needed.
If the collection membership list displays the individual users, then obviously that collection needs to be updated, AND new policy retrieval at the client so that it knows that it is no longer targeted.
Then, you need an Application Deployment Evaluation Cycle, which is when the client checks to see if apps that are supposed to be installed are.

  • Applications Moved

My applications have all moved from their original folder. When opening finder, the original applications folder had nothing in it, but I have dragged the applications folder over to the left sidebar for easy access. I could see all of the apps when i clicked on applications on the left sidebar in finder.
After noticing this, I moved all the applications back to the original folder, except my utilities folder, which it will not allow me to move. All my applications are currently under /Users/BRose/Applications (where i moved them and thought they should be) but my utilities folder is under /Applications(now my left sidebar in finder), and does not show up with all of my other applications.
How do I move my utilities folder back? It used to be I could see my applications in either place? what happened and how should I fix it?

Applications are not supposed to be in your Home Applications folder unless you want them available to only that user. They belong in the /Applications folder which is in the root of the hard drive.
The alias in the Sidebar likely pointed to the correct Applications folder, but you opened your Home Applications folder and found it empty.
I would suggest putting everything back where it belongs (in /Applications) as Software Update will likely not find it anywhere else. Some apps, if poorly coded, will also stop working if they are not in /Applications.

  • Application Moved?!!! PLEASE HELP

Hi I downloaded CS5.5 onto my harddrive to use on my macbook a while or go now, it's been working fine on my macbook but when I tried it today it comes up with this message -
The application has been moved, and its path has changed. To update the product configuration, click Update.
What the jammy is going on?!
Even when it has opened and I try and open a project it comes up with the message DATA MISSING/PROJECT NOT FOUND.
I recently downloaded my After effects onto an imac and opened an already existing file on the imac so how has that after effects?
I didn't open AE from my hard drive on the imac because it only works from the hard drive on my macbook.  I opened my already existing file on the new installed AE on the Imac but has that shifted all my files somehow and confused my computer.
    How can I fix it?
I need AE for work and deadlines and such so am having prolonged heart attack at the mo, this is urgent. Please help

As Andrew suggested, simply run a clean reinstall. Fixing it the hard way will take much longer then just letting the installer do its thing.

  • Application Virtualization and Keyboard Input

    Hello,
Today I have a need to leverage SendInput and it works just fine. However the issue really is having to swap between different windows, due to the requirement for SendInput.
I got around this by using VM's and it works great.
However, I was wondering if there is a better way to do this, without having to have total virtual machines.
Is it possible to sandbox applications (virtualize) them, in a stand alone environment (meaning on a single machine), where-in each has it's own Message Input Subsystem?
Something where I would be able to run Program A (+) Program B within a "virtualized" application architecture, and have Program B use SendInput to send data to the Program A "instance" that is inside the same application virtualization
    that B is in.
I just want to get away from having to use "remote" desktops to Virtualized Machines to make this work
It would look like this (well if this is possible that is)
    Machine A:
    Program A + Program B = "Instance #1". They run together
    Program A + Program B = "Instance #2". They run together
From the actual desktop of Machine A, you could "see" Instance 1 and Instance 2 but using a Program C, communicate with Program B (on a per virtualized instance)
Thus removing the overhead of total virtual machines, but with the ability to actually do "application virtualization".
I really want to solve my problem on the Microsoft stack, not move to VMWare
All my other options didn't work so now I moved to virtualization, which would be pretty sweet actually :-)
Any help / thoughts would be great
    Thanks!!

Regardless of how they communicate, the question is this.
Is it possible to sandbox applications (virtualize) them, in a stand alone environment (meaning on a single machine), where-in each has it's own Message Input Subsystem?
The rest was merely a description of potential architecture, based on the fact that Program A, needs to be communicated with by SendInput, which you cannot do without swapping focus.
No differently than if it were VM's and I had say 3 remote desktops open on my local system. I can run programs within that "sandboxed" window and each has it's own Message Input Subsystem. I am trying to mimic, that with application virtualization,
so that I can still have that ability, but without running VM's which use way too many resources.
Any specific information on the actual question?
    Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

  • How do I install OSX onto a new SSD (in the place of my optical drive) without transferring all data across.  However, with the applications, system and library on the SSD to improve the speed, but keep non essential items (the home folder) on the HDD

I have a mid 2009 13 inch unibody 2.53GHz MacBook Pro.  I'm finding that it doesn't run as quickly as it used to.
A genius in the Apple store suggested that I replace my optical drive with an SSD, however only use the SSD for OSX, applications, system and library.  Keep all documents, pictures, music etc on the current hard drive.
I would be grateful if someone could help me with:
    1) installing OSX on the SSD without copying across data from the current hard drive
    2) transferring applications, system and library folders across to the SSD so that they still function
    3) changing my settings so that OSX reads the home folder from the current hard drive, as well as all the applications' data (documents, music etc...)
However, I would like to run iMovie, with all events etc solely from the SSD to speed up the process of editing movies.
If anyone could help with this, it would be much appreciated.

If you got the data transfer cable with your SSD, the procedure should be pretty simple - and there should be step-by-step instructions in the box. You're simply going to remove the bottom case of your computer (using a Phillips #00 screwdriver), take out the two screws in the bracket holding the hard drive into place (using same screwdriver), remove the drive and (use a Torx 6 screwdriver) remove the four screws that hold the hard drive in place. Then put in the SSD and reassemble the machine.
Then you'll plug up the old hard drive by using the SATA to USB cable and use the option key to boot from the old drive. I don't know what data transfer software Crucial provides, but I would recommend formatting the SSD  using Disk Utility from your old drive ("Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" with a single GUID partition) and then use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your old drive to your new SSD (see this user tip for cloning - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4122). You needn't worry about getting an enclosure since you have the data transfer cable and you don't want to use your old hard drive.
There are a number of videos on YouTube that take you step-by-step through this procedure - many specific to Crucial SSDs and their data transfer kit - do a little searching there if you're unsure of how to procede.
