Application on Palm TX

Not sure if this is the right area, but here's my question: I was trying to find out how much memory I have on the TX, and I beleive there is an app called "Info". However, it doesn't appear in the Apps list and didn't come up on a search. If there is an Info application, I may have deleted it in error. If I use the CD to reinstall, any issues or problems I need to know about? All responses are appreciated.

Info is not an application your TX needs, rather it's a "explorer" window. If you go to home (where all the other application are), and hit the drop down menu, you will see App and Options. Under App go to Info and it will show you the free amount of memory and current programs installed.
You don't need Info installed, it's already there.

Do you mean mulitple MIDlets app running on the Palm? Currently J2ME does not support multiple MIDlets running on a kVM i.e. only one MIDlet per kVM.
If you are looking at passing the string variable information for later use by another MIDlet, one solution that we can suggest is for you to store the string variable object on to the persistent storage mechanism of CLDC/MIDP i.e. the RMS persistent store.

Disable/Delete Web application on Palm Treo 700p

I am trying to figure out a way to disable or delete the web application on my palm treo 700p. Does anyone have a solution for me?

Okay, I see what you mean - The best way is to call your provider and have them block the data network. This is good if you have kids, now you can do it yourself but you most likely be editing the network preference and may lead to unwanted results. Though if you go to preferences and go to network you will see a connect or a disconnect depending on the recent connections made, hit disconnect and no connection will be made until you go to any application that uses data.

Writing Applications for Palm OS and Pocket PC

Hi All,
We are trying to architect mobile applications for both Windows CE (Pocket PC) and Palm OS which will access the local handheld database for storing and retrieving data. This local database will then be synchronized with the central database (via wireless or hotsync).
Is it possible to write a set of common java code (J2ME) and be able to do the above task ?

it is possible to run MIDP apps on both. OR, you could wait until the PDAP for Palms comes out, which has some similar AWT components as PersonalJava/Personal profile running on WinCE.

Pink bg for Application on Palm M515

Hi
I have developed an application using MIDP/ CLDC. When i executed the apllication on Palm M515, for all the fields including text field, list, buttons, choice box etc, it is showing a pink colored back ground.
What shall i do inorder to avoid this pink background?
Again when i select a choice box its background color is becoming dark. This makes its label unreadable. But after clicking anywhere else its backgroung color is changed back to pink again.
Please give a solution for this problem.

You have no way to control the look and feel of the high level UI. Each device's implementation is completely in charge of that.
The only way you have to gain control over things like background and font color is to use a Canvas and make your own widgets, or use a third party library that does that like Synclast or J2ME Polish.

CiceroUIWndFrame: Palm.exe - Application Error (Palm TX)

My desktop is showing the following error "The instruction at "0x0517a893" referenced memory at "0x7ffdefff." The memory could not be "read".
This relates to me trying to add media to the desktop. Nothing is showing up on the desktop, however it is on my memory card on my palm TX.
Any ideas?

You can use ibm's wsdd(websphere device developer) as plugin to wsad(websphere application developer) for developing web applications which can be run on palm devices. It uses j9(ibm's implemention of jvm).

Palm Desk Top 6.2, a step backwards?

I use the Palm desktop considerably for my work schedule. I just got a new laptop which came with Vista. I downloaded the latest Palm desktop (6.2.2) and while the program works I am very disappointed that some of the features of the old version are no longer there. It is definitely a down grade. What I am specifically missing is the ability to change color for different categories so I can see at a glance the type of appointment in my schedule. This was very useful to me and was available in the older version I was using on my XP laptop. Does any one know if the latest version will be upgraded back to the level of customization of the old version?

No Media Button using Palm Desk top 6.2 and Windows Vista

I installed Palm Desk Top on my XP machine today and noticed a Media Button. I have been using the same version of Palm Desk Top on MY laptop which runs Vista Home Premium. How can I get the Media button on my Vista machine?

Calendar Sync, Palm Zire 31 and Mac OS 10.4.6

We just purchased several Palm Zire 31 handhelds because that model is one on Oracle's list as "certified" to work with Calendar Sync. However, I cannot seem to get it to sync properly to Oracle Calendar. Prior to installing Calendar Sync it synced to my Palm Desktop data just fine. Please point me in the right direction.
Here are all the versions and hardware:
Powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.6
Palm Zire 31 running Palm OS 5.2.8
Palm Desktop software 4.2.1
Oracle Calendar Sync 9.0.4.2.10 (installed on Zire 31)
Palm HotSync Manager 3.2
Oracle Calendar (desktop software) 10.1.1.0.2.694

I don't sync a Zire 31, but I do sync a variety of Treos and Tungsten units with 10.4.x. I sync my Events and Tasks with Oracle and my Addresses with the Apple conduit.
Here are the directions I have come up with:
First, make sure you are using the latest Oracle Palm Sync (sounds like you are)
Second, make sure you have the latest iSync Palm conduit (version 3.0.2 under OS 10.4)
open the iSync application, go to the Devices menu, and choose Enable Palm Sync for this device
Click on the device name. Make sure Contacts is checked, but NOT Calendars
Quit iSync
Open Palm Desktop -> HotSync -> Conduit Settings
choose iSync Conduit and click Conduit Settings. Check the box to enable Palm Sync for device
Open MacintoshHD -> Library -> Application Support -> Palm Hotsync
move Apple into Conduits folder
move Oracle Calendar Address Conduit into Disabled Conduits folder
HotSync, and you should be good to go.

Palm Desktop Crash - unable to sync with handheld PalmOne Tungsten E2

Hello, this may have been addressed before, but I am not sure. A couple weeks ago I was in Palm Desktop when it just froze. Once I got out of it, I found that about 99% of my calendar datebook had been lost. I have tried to sync it again with my handheld Tungsten E2 to try to reinstall my info from handheld to desktop - but it just gets stuck on syncing the datebook. I had a computer geek look at it and he was unable to help me. I guess I could live without my former appointments and re-enter my future ones, but I can't sync anymore, it keeps hanging up at datebook. Any suggestions? I really appreciate your thoughts.....BTW I have a MAC with Vista installed through Bootcamp.

Hi,
Basically, the sync will stuck at Datebook when there are some corrupted Calender events on Palm device.
We have 2 options to fix this issue.
1) Hard Reset.
2) Use DbScan application to remove the corrupted calender events on Palm.
As many wouldn't like to do the hard reset as sometimes all the Calender events would be on Palm.
Hence, I suggest DbScan.
It's easy to fix the issue.
First we have to set the DateBook to Do Nothing in the HotSync Manager window.
To get to the HotSync Manager window follow the below steps:
Right click on the HotSync Manager in the Windows System Tray(on the lower right corner of your computer) and click on Settings.
This will open the HotSync Manager window.
And then click on Applications.
Make sure you select the correct sync user name in the HotSync Manager window at the top center.
Double click on Datebook.
check the box "Do Nothing"
And click on OK and Done button.
Now install the dbScan software from the below link.

Download the software with Guest user name.
Double click the dbScan.prc file it will goes to Install Tool.
Peform the sync.
This will install DBScan application on Palm.
Then, follow the below steps on your Palm device.
1.Tap on Dbscan application on the device.
If you see any message saying, it's an older version and you need to install a new version. Please ignore the message and go to next step.
2. Choose the option other.
3.Press the menu button on the device.
4.From the options menu choose "Remove all the deleted records"
5.Now choose the option "Palm source".
6.From the options menu again choose "Remove all the deleted records"
7.Now choose the option "Palm one".
8. From the options menu choose "Calender DB Blob check".
9.Tap on "Yes to all"
10. Try performing HotSync now.
This will fix the Datebook sync issue.
