Application outside oc4j home

Hello,
Could anybody help me to configure my application outside the default <oc4j home>. Suppose my application is "myapp" located at c:\project\myapp then after creating Web-inf\classes for the servlets and JavaBeans where do I keep jsp, static html, images, stylesheets, javascripts so that I can access my JSP pages in the browser as - http://<host>:<port>/myapp/welcome.jsp
and servlets as - http://<host>:<port>/myapp/WelcomeServlet
Thanks and regards,
Nimish

You might want to check these logfiles:
D:\product\10.1.3.2.0\OracleAS_10\j2ee\home\applications\demantra\demantra\logs\collaborator.log
D:\product\10.1.3.2.0\OracleAS_10\j2ee\home\applications\demantra\demantra\logs\integration.log
These logfiles should give you more clues. Seems it is missing some "objects", but what these objects are is rather undefined.

  • Deploying ADF Application to OC4J Using Jdeveloper

I tried to deploy an application to standalone OC4J using Jdeveloper, through a process similar to this:
    Deploying a Web Application
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/10131/deployment/deployment.htm
[making WAR for view-controller, JAR for model, and EAR in a new project]
First I got some errors relating to Apache Log4J jars (org/apache/log4j/Category). The problems are talked over in this forum and oc4j forum. I had to download apache-log4j-1.2.15.zip and add the jar file manually to the project and remove the checks in the WAR file descriptor.
The application was deployed after some attempts successfully, but, now the first page that appears after launching the application is my Home.jspx which is not the same page which comes up when I use embedded OC4J to run the application. The Home.jspx is blank and when I enter a link manually:
    http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Employees.jspx
    instead of http://farbod:8888/TestApp/faces/pages/Home.jspx
    I receive this error:
    500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
Is there anything wrong with my deployment?
(I just mentioned my initial problem with deployment to know if that gives a clue.
    I am using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3, OC4J 10.1.3.3)
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
hard to say from the error message. What if you create a EAR file that includes the WAR file and then deploy it through Enterprise Manager in OC4J ? Also, having a separate deployment project bears the risk fo missing dependencies. Ensure that the project has the project's dependency property set to all contributing projects

Denis -- This sounds like maybe the RMI port that you are using to connect is the one used by the home instance. Have a look at the other instance you deployed it to and see what RMI port it is using.

  • Temporary Disabling application in OC4J

    Hi.
I'm using Oracle AS 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.1.0). I've deployed my custom application to the home OC4J instance. But because of some reason my application fails at startup, and other applications in this instance (as well as em console) can't start.
I want to temporary disable my application without undeploying it from the instance. How can I do it without access to http://<servername>/em ?
Maybe, I should edit some xml files?

You can set the start property to false in server.xml which is there in <as home>/j2ee/applications

  • File oc4j~home~default_group~1 - Consuming all the space available on disk

    Hi all,
I developed an application using Oracle MapViewer and this application is running on a Oracle Application Server 10.1.3 using OC4J container.
After two months in a production environment the file oc4j~home~default_group~1 is consuming 46 Gb of disk space.
I suspect that this file holds information about OC4J and my application logs. (I use log4j to handle the logs) but I´m not sure.
Is there any thing I can do to avoid that this file gets bigger?
Am I correct about the log stuff?
    Best Regards,
    Luis Paolini

    qlin,
I read the documentation that you suggested, but I still could not solve the problem. I don´t know which .xml file must be modified to use ODL. I´ve tried some of them without success.
The file I mentioned is created in D:\product\10.1.3\OracleAS_1\opmn\logs
and its content has OC4J logs and my application logs (Log4j). Something like
    INFO [OC4J Launcher] 127 ::: Initializing, config='org.apache.struts.util.LocalStrings', returnNull=true
    INFO [OC4J Launcher] 127 ::: Initializing, config='org.apache.struts.action.ActionResources', returnNull=true

  • OC4J:HOME failed to initialize after installation of ADF Runtime

    Hi Everyone!
I already asked this question in the Jdeveloper forum but I have some questions with regards to the OAS that's why I am reposting it again...
I am trying to deploy an application developed using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 in Oracle 10g AS version 10.1.2 residing in a different server. I have followed the steps required in deploying to an older version of OAS. I recompiled my applications to use J2SE1.4. I have also downloaded the standalone ADF Runtime Installer so that I can install the ADF components in OAS.
After the installation of the ADF Runtime, my oc4j:home process failed to initialize/startup. When i try to manually start it in the OEM, i received the following errors:
An error was encountered while loading page. Entity not found.
    Resolution:
    Entity not found
    Base Exception:
    The plugin OC4J did not have any documents associated with the Document Key OC4J_INSTANCE_ID:home;
    Resolution:
Contact Oracle Support. Exception thrown by plugin "orionp":
    The plugin OC4J did not have any documents associated with the Document Key OC4J_INSTANCE_ID:home;
    Resolution:
    Contact Oracle Support
There are no logfiles as well... When I tried to uninstall the ADF Runtime using the installer, i got the following error:
Uninstall Option is not supported for AS.
For the OAS gurus, I just want to know if its possible to recreate the oc4j:home?
Can i just delete the problematic oc4j:home and just create a new one?
We already have some forms-based applications that are running in our OAS. Will it still work properly if I recreated the oc4j:home?
    Thanks!
    JED

/OraHome/j2ee/home/confirm/server.xml check this xml file and it is empty or not. If it is empty than copy server.xml.old file in the same path directory to your server.xml file. Then try to start your home instance again.

    Hi Debu,
Thanks for your interest. I did, in fact, rebuild my app before trying
to deploy it -- I re-compiled all the java classes using the target
JDK version on the target machine, and re-built the JAR and EAR files.
Yes, I suppose I could try what you suggest, but as I stated in my
original post, I remember seeing this same problem in one of the
other OC4J/Orion forums, and was sort of hoping that someone would
be able to help me locate it.
In any case, it's not really urgent and in the meantime I am continuing
my development on SUN under Solaris 7 with OC4J version 1.0.2.2
    and JDK version 1.2.2_05a.
    Thanks again,
    Avi.

  • Issues with deploying BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J

To everyone who's been having problems deploying BC4J/JSP applications to OC4J.
We are aware that you're having problems deploying to OC4J, and we're working on them. OC4J was not available in time for us to add support for OC4J deployment to the JDeveloper 3.2.3 release. In addition there are some bugs in the first release of OC4J that have an impact on BC4J applications. This note describes the issues, and how we plan to address them.
    Issue 1: Classpath problems
People have been getting "class not found" or "properties file not found" errors when they try to run their JSP. The answer is to make sure that all relevant archives and your JSP's .properties file are in the OC4J classpath - there's a note addressing the .properties file problem at http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html. In general though, setting up the classpath can be tricky.
Issue 2: JSP TAG NOT RELEASED ON END TAG. SAME TAG IS REUSED.
This issue affects JSP pages whose behaviour relies on a tag instance being cleaned up as a result of release() being called.
Your tag will not be released, and subsequent instances of the tag will reuse the first instance, rather than instantiating a new
    one.
    Issue 3:JSP SCRIPTABLE VARIABLE NULL
A scriptable variable set in a tag cannot be accessed by a scriptlet. For example, this JSP code will throw a
NullPointerException, because the scriptlet cannot access the value of resultRow:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
%>Workaround: Add a line of code at the beginning of the scriptlet to explicitly get the variable's value from the page context, for
    example:
    <jbo:Row id="resultRow" action="CURRENT" datasource="customer_vo1" />
    <%
    resultRow = (oracle.jbo.Row)pageContext.findAttribute("resultRow");
    session.putValue("FIRSTNAME", resultRow.getAttribute("Firstname").toString());
    %>
    What we plan to do
To address issue 1, we're currently testing a utility that installs the BC4J runtime libraries to OC4J, and provides a script to start OC4J with the correct classpath. We plan to post this by the end of this week, along with instructions for deploying a BC4J application to OC4J; deployment will be a lot simpler after running the utility.
To address issues 2 and 3, we're working on a second utility that installs BC4J runtime and provides a fix to the JSP compiler. We plan to post this second utility by the end of next week.
We do apologise for the problems you're having; please bear with us as we work on making it easier for you to deploy BC4J applications to OC4J.
    Thanks
    Blaise

Hi, I have been trying desparately to deploy
a simple example JDeveloper application for months and months.
I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN DEPLOYING ANYTHING.
I don't know much about webservers and I am relying
on the instructions from JDeveloper help and this website.
I have already tried Apache, and WebLogic
because there are instructions in the JDev help.
    No luck.
Now I am trying to use OC4J on 9ias because there are instructions.
I have read the instructions about how to install a BC4J
app on OC4J about 25 times, but I can't get this thing to work.
It works fine inside of JDeveloper.
I create a BC4J project using the scott
schema (just the dept and emp tables).
Then I create an empty project for my JSP client.
I choose JSP Application from the web
objects and it connects to my BC4J project.
As I say, when I run it in JDeveloper, there is no problem.
In the instructions for installing BC4J
in OC4J, it first says install JDev 3.2.3 and OC4J.
This is done, and it tested fine.
Then it says to install the deployment software.
    No problem.
But when I deploy the app according to the instructions,
it just hangs (like Rick Wang's program did).
The main.jsp page loads and displays correctly,
but when I click on the links to the DeptView.jsp
    or EmpView.jsp it just hangs.
Here is the entire batch file I'm using
    to start OC4J: cd c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home
    set CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%;c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home

The file al_BC4J.jar contains my application.properties file
and my connections.properties file, as well as my business components.
All of the files referenced in my classpath are
    present in my c:\oracle_9ias\j2ee\home\lib directory.
I noticed that Raghu's classpath contains a file called jdev.jar
So does the classpath of another fellow who says
he was successful in deployment (his name is Jeffrey Jackson).
I searched my JDev_3.2.3 for this file and found it nowhere.
I also searched my OC4J home and my 9iAS for this file and
    found it nowhere.
It is nowhere on my C:\.
    Is this file necessary?
I will also try removing my application.properties file
and my connections.properties file from my BC4J .jar file
and put them in a separate .jar file at the root level (as Raghu did).
However, Jeffery Jackson did not do this and says he was
    successfull in deployment.
***DO I NEED TO JAR UP ANY OF MY THE FILES FROM the JSP
    FOLDER IN JDevHome\myhtml???***
***or place them in the classpath?***
I have read over all of the discussions at: http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/008232.html
    and http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum99/HTML/000028.html
    many, many times.
    Can anyone help me?

  • Deploy BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J

I am trying to deploy JDeveloper3.2 BC4J/JSP applications on OC4J. However, I have no lucky at all. My OC4J will hang when I tried to run my JSP applications.
Does this only happen to me? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

I've followed the instructions in the "How TO Deploy a BC4J Application to an Oracle9iAS J2EE Container in Local Mode" again. The OC4J still hung. I turn on the -Djbo.debugoutput switch this time. I used the following line to startup the OC4J.
    java -Djbo.debugoutput=console -cp C:\oc4j\j2ee\home\orion.jar;

  • WebService Tab not showing in OC4J Home

    Hi,
I am new to J2EE concept and OC4J. I have installed one and created a OC4J standalone instance. Deployed a few test application and they are working.
    IAS Version : 10.1.4.3.0
    OC4J Version : Oracle Container for J2EE 10.1.2.3.0
    OS : HP UX
    I have 2 questions.
    1) While googling for more samples I found the examples are mentioning about a webservice tab in the OC4J home.
I cannot see any webservice tab in my OC4J home all I have is 3 tabs (Home,J2EE Application, Administration).
Is anything wrong with my installation?
    2) I found a jdk location in IAS_HOME/j2ee/ location. It is of version 1.4. I guess this is the latest version of OAS and
OC4J. So will it support only classes compiled in JDK 1.4. I compiled a servlet class in JDK 1.5 and deployed it in
the OC4J. It was giving unsupported class version.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ruhu

    Hi
You have to flag the check box POST EI in MIGO for your excise group.
    The path is
    SPRO>>>>Logistics - General>>>>>>Tax on Goods Movements>>>>>>India>>>>Basic Settings>>>>Maintain Excise Groups
    Kindly and maintain the above
Heading 2: Post Excise Invoice Captured in MIGO h2.
Enables users in manufacturing plants to post incoming and outgoing excise invoices in the standard Goods Movement transaction, (MIGO).
It also enables users in depots to post incoming excise invoices (for goods receipts) and RG 23D selections (for goods issues).
    Use
Since when you post an excise invoice, the system creates an entry in register RG 23A or RG 23C (manufacturing plants) or register RG 23D (depots), activate this function only if the users working with this transaction are familiar with the excise duty system.
    Dependencies
When you run the Goods Movement transaction, it shows two additional Excise Invoice tabs, one at header level and one at item level.
You enter the goods movement details and the excise invoice information. When you save the goods movement, you can also post the excise invoice.

  • How can I create application folder in home folder?

    Hi there,
I'm using MacBook Pro Early 2011 model with Mountain Lion (10.8.5).
    I have two questions.
I recently noticed that there was an application folder in my home folder (the folder with your username), but that application folder had been empty. I remember I used to be able to access to my applications from that folder, but not anymore.
Since the folder was empty, I deleted it before doing further research. Does anyone know if this is a bad thing?
After deleting the empty application folder from the home folder, I looked up and some said the application folder in the home folder and the application folder in Macintosh HD are two different folders. I don't know what it means, but I would like to have an application folder with applications in my home folder. Is this possible? or should I just make an Alias folder and put it in my home folder?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the answer.
I've screwed up my computer before doing some dumb things without asking, so I was a little paranoid.

  • How to make IIS on Windows 7 visible from outside my home LAN

Guidance Needed: How to make IIS on Windows 7 visible from outside my home LAN.
    I am building a learning/demo ASP.NET website on this Win7 PC, using VS2008.
I would like to share the website with a client/friend, so I need my local IIS to be visible from outside the home LAN.
This PC is behind a Netgear WGR614 router, which has a static IP address assigned by my ISP.
I have set up port forwarding on the router; port 80 is HTTP.
I can see the website as http://localhost/ and also as http://192.168.0.2 from other PCs inside the LAN.
Ping works from outside, but not http.   What am I missing?

    Hi,
Since this question is related to IIS and we have specific support for IIS related issues or questions, it is also recommended that you go to IIS Forum for help.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.
