Application package deployment

Hi there,
I have created a application package in sccm 2012. I would like it to be visible and available for support technician (ie helpdesk) so they can install it for users when needed. Can someone guide me how to accomplish it please?
Thanks

Can the available applications to be listed so helpdesk can deploy them when end user wants it? I don't want to use end user interaction yet. Can this be done in software center page? I think I've seen it before. I am working for a small company there users
are senior citizens. Thanks.
If you "deploy" the application with a "purpose" of "Available", to a device collection, and, you configure the deployment settings on the "User Experience" tab so that it doesn't generate notifications, this application
deployment would quietly reside in Software Center, waiting for the user to initiate it. This could be done by your helpdesk team, either physically at the computer (the helpdesk person simply launches Software Center when at the pc), or, helpdesk can remote-control
or remote-assist the pc/user and do it for them.
Is this what you mean?
Alternatively, deploy the application (with purpose-Required) to a collection, then, when the end-user needs that application, the helpdesk would use the ConfigMgr console to add the device into the relevant device collection. The application will then
deploy when the collection is evaluated and the client performs policy retrieval.
It really depends upon what your "helpdesk" service consists of - is it desk-side physical attendance?
Remote-control or remote-assist?
Does the end-user have to interact with the application deployment or is the application deployment "silent/unattended"?
(these are things we don't know about your scenario :)
There are many, many ways to deploy software with ConfigMgr - it depends on your scenario and your experience and (often) also the nature of the application software itself.

  • How to move an existing Application/Package Deployment from one collection to another

We'd like to move an Application Deployment from one collection of devices to another. Instead of just creating a new deployment (which would make the app try to reinstall) we'd like to move the existing deployment.
Any way to do this with PowerShell?

Creating a new deployment won't make an app try to reinstall at all. That's the whole point of the Detection method.
For packages, clients keep track of what they've run before so a new deployment won't cause it to run again unless the program is set for it to run again.
Ultimately, you cannot change the collection targeted by a deployment as this violates a f underlying assumptions and messes up compliance/reporting for that deployment. You need to create a new deployment which as pointed out has no down-side.

  • SCCM Application & Package deployment-Using the Required option to speed up the deployment process

    Current Environment-Window server 2012, SCCM 2012
    Question:
Is there a way to speed up the process for the application or package to get downloaded to the SCCM Cache folder on the computer using the Required option. The reason is that when ever i use the required option and use the time as UTC or client local time
with As soon as Possible, the time for the package to download and install by itself would take atleast an hour. When i use the Available option and go to configuration manager and click on the machine & user retrieval policy, the application or package
appears on the system center within seconds, but it dosent happen the same when i use the Required option. The polling schedule is currently set to 5 minutes. Is there any settings or time interval which needs to be changed or i am missing out to speed up the
    current Required option process.

Content is not ever downloaded by the client for available deployments until you actually initiate the deployment so not sure what you are expecting.
I think you are confusing some of the basic concepts here also. When Torsten and I say download, it means the download of the content associated with the package/application once the deployment starts. However, a client learns of new deployments (and things
about those deployments like if they are required or not) by retrieving the policy -- this is not the "download". Policy retrieval happens on the cycle specified in the client settings and is by default every 60 minutes although this can be force in a few
different ways including initiating a machine policy retrieval and eval cycle o the client. As Torsten also said, there's no difference between the policy retrieval for required or available deployments -- there's no way for these to be.
Also, why would you use UTC?

  • Best report to check application and package deployment compliancy?

I am looking for the best report to check application and package deployment compliancy.
    Preferably targeting a collection.
    tconners

    I'm recommending this one:
Software Distribution - Application Monitoring folder -
    All application deployments (advanced)
It allows you to select Collections and applications

  • SCCM: Application deployment vs Package deployment with requirements and prerequisits.

    Hey,
My organization is in the process of implementing a new remote networking solution for all employees, however some employees require additional software vs others. What I am trying to find out is if there is a way to have one package with supersedes and
requirements that we can use to do a massive deployement.
Here are the different scenarios with order of installation:
    Financial group Desktop:
    1.Install New solution
    2.Install Configuration
    3.Install Token Authentication
    (nothing crazy)
    Financial Group Laptops
    1.Install Token Authentication
    2.Install New Solution
    3.Install COnfiguration
    4.Un-uninstall Old Solution
5.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last). (this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 5, but do 4, when 4 is triggered, it does 3 first, etc...)
    All other laptops
    1.Install New Solution
    2.Install COnfiguration
    3.Un-uninstall Old Solution
4.Un-install Tunnel Guard application (requires a reboot, that's why it's last).(this is the application that would be deployed with requirements to go back up the chain of supersedes (meaning, deploy 4, but do 3, when 3 is triggered, it does 2 first, etc...)
Because of the different requirements, is there a way to have one deployment with multiple deployment types to say based off:
    1. Computer types (we have a naming convention that identifies laptops and desktops.
    2. Only install certain pieces of software (Token validator in this case if financial application is detected on the machine).
Or should I create different applications for each case with different collections or go with 3 different packages and collections with install this package first set in the package deployment
    Thanks for your help.

The problem is the last uninstall, because it's not applicable to all machines. That means that if you would deploy that with all it's dependencies, it wouldn't do anything on the desktops as it's not applicable to them.
In this case, if you want to use one deployment, the easiest solution is a task sequence. That way you can target everything in one time and still build some logic to prevent some (un-)installs.

  • prefer-application-packages and prefer-web-inf-classes not working

    Hi,
I'm upgrading to Weblogic 10.3.2 an application that was running quite fine in Weblogic 8. But I don't manage to get it working in WL 10. I'm getting a Class Not Found error (javax/xml/stream/XMLStreamWriter) but that class is in one of the jar files of my application: "<war-file>/WEB-INF/lib"
It seems a class loading problem but I'm using both <prefer-application-packages> and <prefer-web-inf-classes> and it's still not working. This is my weblogic-application.xml:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <weblogic-application>
    <prefer-application-packages>
    <package-name>javax.xml.stream.*</package-name>
    </prefer-application-packages>
    </weblogic-application>
I'm deploying using an ear file wich contains a war file.

    Hi!
We have the jar xbean-2.2.0.jar in APP-INF/lib. That one contains the class javax.xml.namespace.NameSpaceContext. I saw that the same class was in another jar as well. I've removed it from the second jar and now it's only in the xbean-2.2.0.jar. But I still get the same error. Maybe there is something wrong in my application.xml? I have all the jars in APP-INF/lib and in <war-file>/WEB-INF/lib

  • JAVA application packaged as an EAR

we are upgrading our system to Oracle 12i and we have a custom java application that access the Oracle API. As part of this upgrade we have to deploy our JAVA application packaged as an EAR file to OC4J that comes with Oracle EBS. All we need is sequence of steps/ some document that will help us deploy our JAVA application(EAR file) to OC4J server.
    1. Can we create another instance of OC4j in Oracle 12i(12.1.3)?
    2. Will there be any integrity issue if we deploy ear file to Oacore/Forms/OAFM oc4j instance integrated with R12? or Do we need to create a new instance?

  • Orchestrator and SCCM 2012 integration: run task sequence and install assigned applications/packages?

    Dear,
We do not have Orchestrator running in our SCCM 2012 R2 environment. Though I wonder if we could accomplish the following scenario with it:
Task sequence Windows 7 => Orchestrator step which queries assigned installations to the computer object and installs them one by one.
    Could you advise?
    Kind regards,
    Stev.
    SteveWonB

    > > Define "assigned to computer objects". How is this done technically?
Well, computer objects are members of collections via AD memberships, like the collection "W7-Google-Chrome" (exists of 100 computer objects).
Deploy of packages is done to these collections. So a computer member of  "W7-Google-Chrome"  will automatically get Google Chrome.
Some computers are member of 30 collections, some of 80.
Goal is to have the task sequence run all applications/packages assigned (with their reboots if needed).
    Kind regards,
    Steven

Because I am having difficulties in using ant tool for my own webservices. ant is very tightly coupled with the directory hierarchy & configuration files (as I go throught the examples of JWSDP1.3). Also I need to learn the overall process going on behind the scene.
I have to teach the simplest required steps to build, package & deploy any webservice to any container independent of application server & OS without using ant tool. It would also help me to understand which items are required as specified in the Web Services Specifications & which one are implementation or platform specific.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Iftikhar.

Just follow the step of the JWSDP1.3 tutorial..

  • WSP Package Deployment to a Different site collection

    Hi All,
I have 2 different site collections on one web application , while deploying the WSP package iam not able to see the new sitecollection i have created in the dropdown selection list.
Please advise if iam missing anything or advice if we have powershell commands to deploy directly to the diff site collection.
    thanks.SS

I am assuming that you want to deploy sandbox solutions, then you can use Add-SPUserSolution and Install-SPUserSolution
powershell commands to add and deploy the WSP to a specific site collection
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/uploadfile/anavijai/how-to-deploy-a-sandbox-solution-using-powershell-in-sharepoint-2010/
If it is a FARM solution (not specific to site collection, it will always get deployed to web application or globally deployed), you can use Add-SPSolution and Install-SPSolution
    commands

  • Difference between prefer-application-packages in weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml?

    Hi!
When deploying a WAR to WebLogic 10.3.5, what is the difference between the prefer-application-packages element in the files weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml?
In my WARs WEB-INF/lib/ I have a JAR that contains classes that are already provided by the container (but older versions).
If I do not use prefer-application-packages then my app gets the classes provided by the container.
If I use prefer-application-packages in weblogic.xml then I get the classes from WAR/WEB-INF/lib which is expected.
But if I use prefer-application-packages in weblogic-application.xml then I get the container versions. Why?
Is there a difference between those two options?
The exact data I use is:
(foo.bar.* is the conflicting package; I add or remove the linex marked with XXXX)

  • Why deployed application reads 'Default application generated deploying 2.0

    Hi,
I am using Sybase Mobile SDK2.1 and deploying mobile workflow to SUP2.1. However, in SCC, I noticed that it reads
"Default application generated deploying 2.0 package'.
    Is it normal?
As I am facing " Sybase Mobile Workflow please go to the settings application and enter your configuration..." when using sybase workflow2.1 app, the above could enable to resolve the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

I think the installation of planning on Vista is difficult. As some of the files doesn't support even i am tired of doing that.
But tell me one thing have you installed all other products , I mean Essbase, (server, client) , AAS and Shared services.
    Are they working good .
I have formatted my system to XP and installed everything , but the problem is when i install planning it prompts me that IIS 5 should be greater other wise EPM will not install...
there are lot of things with planning 1) i can't datasource as it is not highlighting when we configure with Shared services
    2) It does not create product instance .
If any one can fix this thing by giving me a suggestions.
    Advance Thanks

    HI All,
I am creating a Pagelet Producer connection, and dragging a pagelet on the page as iframe, with height auto. When I run the application in the integrated weblogic server, I am able to see the pagelet. However when I deploy the application on the standalone weblogic server, then the pagelet isn't rendered.

Sorry for the wrong infromation. The correct scenario is:
I have an ADF application, in which I have a Pagelet producer connection, pages and taskflows. This ADF application is inlcuded in a Webcenter Portal Framework application, as a shared library. When the WCF application is deployed on the Weblogic server, the pagelets don't appear on the pages.
I tried the FRAMEBUSTING context parameter to never but it didn't help.
