Application server components

Hi, this is the first time i posted here.
We have a server with 3 application server. Of which the application server's component is scattered around the application servers.
How do i check which components (forms, reports, etc..) is on which application server?
Server version: Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.19 (Unix)
Server built: Jan 26 2005 11:06:44 (iAS 1.0.2.2.2 rollup 5)
And also, if the users report that there is slowness on the reports, how do i start to diagnose the problem?
Thanks in advance for any helps.
Appreciate it if any links to be provided too.

Hi,
if the users report that there is slowness on the reports
Check the metalink ID : 282170.1
This will be helpful for ya..
Also
Perform the following steps,it should improve the performance of report server to sum extent(first take a backup of
1)Take the back up and then Edit the reports server's .conf file location $ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf
For example, change
<engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1"
maxEngine="1" minEngine="0" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="60000">
into
<engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl"
initEngine="4" maxEngine="6" minEngine="3" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="90000"
jvmOptions="-Xms256m -Xmx512m">
This will set an Engine's JVM options as well tune ur report server
How do i check which components (forms, reports, etc..) is on which application server
Go to directory opmn->bin on each n evry application server and then fire the cmd
opmnctl status.
Now if you want to find out on which application server the end user is requesting
Your client might be accessing the url
http://<ip-address>:<port>/forms/frmservlet?config=xyz
Then go to directory forms-->server on each n every application server,n check the formsweb.cfg file n find out where is "xyz" block is been created..
Note :xyz is just an example..it will be different in ur case

  • How to find versions of application server components to apply patches

    Hi,
I have Oracle Application server 10.1.2.0.2 installed in my linux box.
    under metalink.oracle.com
    1. i read documentation Doc ID: 420061.1 in metalink about patches and i did find one patch# 5922120 for my application middletier.
but when i did a metalink search i did see some patches for my database version which were not critical
so if they are not critical and if my application server is working fine then do i need to apply these patches.
My application server version is 10.1.2.0.2
and my apalication server infrastructure version is 10.1.0.4.2
during my metalink searches i found the following patches which were uner normal priority. they are:
    patch numbers: 5127390, 5094712, 5605377
    Can someone guide me.
Bottom line is: do i need to apply these patches unless they are critical and they are requred for my applications.
Also i have one more basic question is
How do i find out individual component versions in my application server like Portal, discoverer, EM, EM agent, etc?
    Thanks in advance,
    Philip.

    Philip,
    You have a similar environment to ours. We actually have two Oracle environments: 91) 10gDB 10.1.0.5 / 10gAS 9.0.4.3, and (2) 10gDB 10.2.0.3 / 10gAS 10.1.2.0.3.
In regards to what patches, I look at two items: the latest patchset for DB and AS, and the Critical Patch Updates(CPU). Often, the CPU will drive what patchset you will need to be at. For example, with the CPU April 2007, we had to move to patchset 3 for our AS (9.0.4.3) since that is the only 10gAS R1 that Oracle provided CPU patches.
As far as version ID, I have not found one single area to acquire this. For Portal, you can invoke Portal, http://host/pls/portal, logon as 'portal', then Administer, Global Settings, and at the bottom of the page is the version.
For other products like Forms and Discover, you can find the version when the tool is invoked.
Not quite as nice as the DB side where dba_registry will give you all the goodies.

  • OpenSuse10.3 Installation of Application Server 10.1.3.1

    Hi all,
today I have installed an Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 on OpenSuse10.3. Installation with the Oracle Installer was ok, just the last step when Oracle tried to configure Oracle Application Server components was not successful. I retried the step without success. I then quit the Oracle installer and tried to start the http-server with the opmn tool. I recieve the following falilure message: "HTTP: error while loading shared libraries: libdb.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
The file is really not present on the system. After some time on google I think I need some packages and install them. I tried to download and install the package "gnome-libs-1.4.1.2.90-34.1.i386" but without success because of dependencies. Unfortunately I Cannot find the packages needed to install the gnome-libs.
Can anybody help me on this?

    Hi Shail,
thanks for your answer. No, unfortunately I did not
take a look. But I am now able to start the
HTTP-Server. After hours spent on google I finally
found the right package and installed it. One
Question is left: When I run opmnctl status and the
HTTP-Server is "Alive", does this mean that I can
    navigate to http://hostname.domainname:http_port and
see the welcome page? If this is the case, there is
something wrong, because I get an error screen
    instead of the welcome page...
    Regards
MarkusThat's right, if you are successfully able to start OHS, you should be able to see the welcome page. What error do you see, a 404 or 500?
But agree with Jacco that you might uncover more issues down the road so it is better to reinstall (after successfully meeting all prereqs) vs. spending time trying to diagnose and fix.
    Thanks
    Shail

  • What are components of Oracle Application server ?

    Hello Experts,
I am little confused about Oracle Application Server 10g.
I have done some research to collect the information about the Oracle Application Server 10g.
As for my study, The below are the key components of Oracle Application server.
    1. Oracle HTTP Server. (Middle tier component)
    2. OC4J (Middle tier component)
    3. Oracle AS Webcache (Middle tier component)
    4. Oracle AS Portal (Middle tier component)
    5. Oracle BI (Middle tier component)
    6. OID (Infra tier component)
    7. Oracle AS Metadata Repository (Infra tier component)
Does that mean, if I install Oracle Application Server(both the middle tier and infra tier), I can get all the above components ?
If that is right, Are all these components be installed in separate individual oracle home's or in a single oracle home ?
    I appreciate any responses.
    Regards,
    Ravi k

Please see the following note on Metalink for most updated Certification Matrix for the OS, your machine and Oracle AS products.
    Note Id: 742649.1
If you are using an AMD 64bit machine, then paritcularly check line 88. If you have an intel, see particularly 125 and 126 to see the relevant patches to be applied before installation of your type of AS software.
    hope that helps!

  • CRM Application Server Java and Portal components on same Java stack

    Hi Team,
We are currently performing solution design and want some information on CRM install.
Want to know if there is any restriction  for installing CRM Application Server Java and Portal components on same Java stack(With same SID). Also want to know if SAP WEB UIF 7.0 can work similar to that of Portal for CRM applications?
Any information around this would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Do You have any servlets or filters defined using annotations? Maybe one of these servlets/filters catches the '/login' request first. I have very similar solution and it works fine. Also, how do You check that the servlet under '/login' url pattern isn't invoked?

What is the basic difference between the >>BC4J in Oracle Internet Application server >>and the Business Components that come in
JDeveloper 3.1. Business Components for Java consists of both a design time framework and a run time framework. The design time framework is intergrated into the design time tool - Oracle JDeveloper - The run time portion of BC4J is packaged as libraries and available on Oracle Internet Application Server.
I >>How is the Connection Pool managed by
the Business Components made >> with JDeveloper 3.1. The Connection Pool is part of iAS.
Please see their white paper on OTN.

  • Application server will not start up

    Hello,
I have read quite a few topics concerning this problem, and have tried many things but without success.
I am running on Windows XP Pro. The installation goes fine, but when I run a project, the application server cannot start, and I get a message after quite a long time saying that it can't start and to check my port numbers, etc.
I used to have Sun Java Creator, but I uninstalled it. I tried deleting the \Windows\System32\productregistry file. I tried uninstalling completely and reinstalling in C:\Sun\Creator2, but the problem is still the same. I tried deleting the domain with "asadmin" and recreating it, but I still get the problem.
I am posting all the relevant information from the logs, hopin someone will be able to help me out....

It seems that something is still running on port 8080 - you should double check that your Apache server is indeed shut down and maybe reboot the system.
Alternatively, you could change the value of this (HTTP) port in <installdir>/domains/domain1/config/domain.xml file.

  • Problem with Application server

    Hi All,
I'm facing problem with Application Server. When I installed the appserver and started it.. It started with the message " server has been started and some services will run at back". But when I tried stopping it using the stop default server i got the message that there is no server running but when i saw in the task manager i cud see two process running 1) appserver.exe and 2) imqbroker(something).exe so eventually I had to kill it.
Now when I'm trying to start the application server again its giving me this message "CLI156 Could not start the domain domain1" and below is the log file attached if its of any help

    Thanks in advance
    Ajay

The VERY FIRST message in the server log gives you a hint as to what the problem might be. The server thinks you have spaces in your PATH to the application server. Therefore, the solution is to kill the server however you need to (task manager, whatever) and then reinstall it in a path that doesn't contain spaces. That's the low-hanging fruit here; if that doesn't work, well, then we will have to find some other solution.

  • Oracle application server 10g version checking scripts

Hi does anyone know how the script to check the application server 10g version on R12.1.3, without checking it on the form.

    Hi Tunde,
You can get the detailed version of all the 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 components using the below commands
    A. 10.1.3 Component Versions
    ========================
    1. Login in to Putty as application file system owner
    2. Source the applications env file under $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.3 directory.
    3. cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch
    4. opatch lsinventory -detail >> inv.out
    5. Review the inv.out file and check for the Oracle Application Server and other component versions.
    B. 10.1.2 Component Versions
    ========================
    1. Login in to Putty as application file system owner
    2. Source the applications env file under $APPL_TOP
    3. cd $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch - This will be pointing to 10.1.2 Home
    4. opatch lsinventory -detail >> inv.out
    5. Review the inv.out file and check for the Oracle Application Server and other component versions.
I hope this clarifies your queries, Please let me know the same.
    Regards,
    Thiagarajan.

  • TRIALSP11 Application server Shutdown at SAP LOGON

This is my first adventure with SAP or ABAP..
    1. I installed and followed the  SAPNW2004sABAPTrialSP11 install instructions.
    2. The installation instructions went fine from the
    /people/manfred.lutz/blog/2007/03/16/new-blog-series-abap-trial-version-for-newbies
    3. SAMMMC has MSG_SERVER.exe and DISP_WORK.EXE both green when I stared the SAP Logon.
    4. After I start the SAP the waiting for response shows up.
    5. SAP GUI comes up with a error saying application server shutdown.
    6. my disp+work.exe goes to stopped state.
    7. Error message says componet is 710, version 10, return code -17, counter 1.
The Log is attached. Any help is rewarded.

  • Configuring Oracle Application Server to use a user friendly url

    Hi All,
I am having trouble configuring the apache httpd.conf file within an applicaton server to be able to use user-friendly urls for the infrastructure identity management tools server. I also need this for security reasons as well as hardware reasons - loadbalancing.
At the moment I have a standard setup, whereby the sso application server is using port 7777. I would like the user not to enter the port, but to enter just a standard url, like http://login.<company>.com.au, so that if the user needs to modify oid using the oiddas web application, they can enter something like http://login.<company>.com.au/oiddas/ rather than http://<machine host name>:7777/oiddas/. This would also be used by portal for sso logins.
From the standard installation, Apache was configured as follows:
    Port 7777
    Listen 7777
    ServerName <machine host name>
    DocumentRoot <root document folder>
Now reading the documentation from the Oracle Application Server Installation notes for the Http Server, they document how to do this (in the loadbalancer section - this will eventually be used in the hardware setup):
    Port 80
    Listen 7777
    Listen 80
    # Virtual Hosts
    # This section is mandatory for URLs that are generated by
    # the PL/SQL packages of the Oracle Portal and various other components
    # These entries dictate that the server should listen on port
    # 7777, but will assert that it is using port 80, so that
    # self-referential URLs generated specify www.oracle.com:80
    # This will create URLs that are valid for the browser since
    # the browser does not directly see the host server.oracle.com.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:7777
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:7777>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    </VirtualHost>
    # Since the previous virtual host entry will cause all links
    # generated by the Oracle Portal to use port 80, the server.company.com
    # server needs to listen on 80 as well since the Parallel Page
    # Engine will make connection requests to Port 80 to request the
    # portlets.
    NameVirtualHost <machine ip>:80
    <VirtualHost <nameofmachine>:80>
    ServerName login.<company>.com.au
    Port 80
    <VirtualHost>
Note that I used slightly different names for the url's rather than the oracle names www.oracle.com and server.oracle.com
Now after applying this, I noticed not only could I not go to the oiddas from the original machine name, but also couldnt go there from the new machine name.
Also I was not even able to go to the standard index page whereby you can go to the enterprise manager for the application server, from either names.
The following urls provide me with "The Page Cannot Be Displayed" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au:7777/
    http://<nameofmachine>:7777/
The following urls provide me with "Page Under Construction" error message:
    http://login.<company>.com.au/
    http://<nameofmachine>/
Could someone please tell me why this is the case, considering I am using the installation procedures Oracle has published within the Oracle Http Server Admistrators Guide (http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14007/netconf.htm#sthref379).
    Cheers
    Rodney

    Hi Rondey,
Ik think that I can see your probleem.
Just change the following line at your httpd.conf, then restart the component.
First of all if the port is installed with nr. 7777. then the listen process will be on port 7778
the second thing is just try to do the following steps
    ((Port 80 to Port 7777)))
    Listen 7778
    %%%% In loadbalancer section %%%%%%
    just add the following lines
    Listen 80
    Listen 8103
    Listen 8102
    NameVirtualHost *
    NameVirtualHost *:8103 or 80
If you want to use this ports (8103 or 8102) for other site (url), then
    <VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName <machine ip> or (host name)
    Hear from U,
    Regards,
    Hamdy

  • Error while starting the sun application server 8

when ever i start the default server i get the following server.............
can any one tell me where shoud i specify the correct path or is the error related to something else.................
[#|2005-06-29T14:27:32.250+0530|WARNING|sun-appserver-pe8.1_02|javax.enterprise.tools.launcher|_ThreadID=10;|LAUNCHER005:Spaces in your PATH have been detected. The PATH must be consistently formated (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\bin; ) or the Appserver may not be able to start and/or stop.  Mixed quoted spaces in your PATH can cause problems, so the launcher will remove all double quotes before invoking the process. The most reliable solution would be to remove all spaces from your path before starting the Appservers components.  |#]

The missing class is part of the Java Dynamic Management Kit (JDMK)
and is in the JAR file 'jdmkrt.jar'
In my SOLARIS 9 installation the path is
    /opt/SUNWjdmk/5.1/lib/jdmkrt.jar
My solution was to edit the the asadmin shell script
and add the path to the above JAR file in its CLASSPATH
    $ vi /opt/SUNWappserver/sbin/asadmin
    -Djava.library.path=...:/opt/SUNWjdmk/5.1/lib: ...
