Approval Action within a Deferred Task doesn't work

Following is what I'm attempting to do :-
1) Set a deferred task on the user to remove certain portion of his
access on a particular date/time.
2) The deferred task when executed has an activity for "approval" from
a person after which the actual access removal happens.
What happens is that workflow execution enters the approval activity and exits without creating the approval workitem. To eliminate any
problems with the custom code for approval activity I substituted the custom deferred task with out-of-box approval activity in a simple
TaskDefinition containing only the approval with approver's accountId hard-coded etc but even then the approval activity is skipped without
creating the workitem that is to say that it proceeds to the next action without creating a workitem. If I run the same task directly via processLaunch.jsp it runs fine and creates workitem as expected. This suggests that approvals do not work inside deferred tasks. Is that true ? Has anyone created a working deferred task with an approval in it ?
Please Help !

Raoul,
Thank you, I've had to do that with email specifically.  I guess I'm wondering if there's a distinction between external emailing, and tasks.  Based on the MS documentation, and the ability to configure tasks for external users in the web app configuration,
I was hoping that tasks are different, but perhaps not.  I wonder if someone from MS could chime in on this?
Thank you,
Chad

  • Is it a bug - SSIS 2012 ReadOnlyVariables in Script Task doesn't work

    It's very weird when I use the ReadOnlyVariables in SSIS 2012 Script Task, it doesn't work at all!!! And I never notice this change before, but everything in 2008 R2 is fine! Is it a bug in SSIS 2012 ?
    All the variables I set them to "ReadOnlyVariables"
    In scripts - I assigned some values from system variables.
    String PackageName = Dts.Variables["System::PackageName"].Value.ToString();
    DateTime CurrentDate = (DateTime)Dts.Variables["System::StartTime"].Value;
    // User Defined Variables
    Dts.Variables["User::PV_CURRENT_DATE"].Value = CurrentDate;
    Dts.Variables["User::PV_YEAR"].Value = CurrentDate.Year;
    Dts.Variables["User::PV_MONTH"].Value = CurrentDate.Month;
    Dts.Variables["User::PV_DAY"].Value = CurrentDate.Day;
    Dts.Variables["User::PV_PACKAGE_NAME"].Value = PackageName;
    Execute the package, it works !
    The only thing I can make it as SSIS 2008 R2 does is to change the ReadOnly for each variables.
    Then you will get the error.
    Why do we need this feature here but not to use the ReadOnlyVariables in script task ?
    Please vote if it's helpful and mark it as an answer!

    I can reproduce it as well. Feels like a bug...
    Locking the variable for read in code has the same effect:
    public void Main()
    // Lock variable for read
    Dts.VariableDispenser.LockForRead("User::myStringVariable");
    // Create a variables 'container' to store variables
    Variables vars = null;
    // Add variable from the VariableDispenser to the variables 'container'
    Dts.VariableDispenser.GetVariables(ref vars);
    // Now try giving it a new name
    vars["User::myStringVariable"].Value = "new value";
    // Release the locks
    vars.Unlock();
    Dts.TaskResult = (int)ScriptResults.Success;

  • Multi Apprval - Approve action resulting into suspended Task Result

    I am having an issue with the multi approval process. After the approval, the Workflow gets into a suspended state in the Task list and the task description being still awaiting approval from the approver. This issue started occurring after I did an import of the defaults from another working environment. The IdM version being 6.0 SP4.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Sudhir,
    I understand that this is what it is behaving now. The only thing I got confused is why in the "Result State"-->"Target" drop-down, it allows me to select "Other", then select particular Action in another Block, while it just navigate to the block but not the exact action.
    If the design does not allow us to navigate to the exact Action of a Block, it should not allow us to select the other "Block", then move in to select the "Action" of the block. This confused me that I can navigate from the  "Action 1" of "Block A" to "Action 3" of Block B.
    It should just allow me to select the "Other", then the "Block", without the option to select the "Action".
    Another question, how do I terminate the whole PROCESS (not just the actions in the particular BLOCK) in the Result State "Input Data is rejected" Target. Right now, the "Terminal" option seems like just terminating the actions of the block,then move to the next block.
    Thanks for advice,
    KC

  • Photoshope Elements when selecting an action, the paint brush tool doesn't work and system keeps freezing, then catching up every 30-45 seconds

    I have been having this problem with elements ever since the last OS upgrade, but it wasn't all the time and it wasn't very bad. Now, I have upgraded my macbook again, and I cannot even edit a photo!! I open the photo, choose an action, say "smooth skin", then choose the paint brush, I start to "paint" over their face and it won't paint a line, I have to keep clicking it, click - it paints, move brush, click again - it paints. Plus, every time I choose a tool or an action, it freezes for about 10 seconds, then catches up to what I am doing, 30 seconds later, it freezes again. HELP!! I have 8 sessions to finish editing by this weekend!! I just want to cry!!

  • Event Creator task doesn't work well

    Hi everybody,
    I'm using the 46C R/3 system, and I want to develope a MIGO and MIRO's Cancel funcionality to the same WF.
    What do you think about ?
    I'm testing the following solution:
    1- I've created an Triggering event in the MIGO Sub-WF (That's called by MIGO EXIT on its Cancel's SAVE Momment) named ReexecuteCanceledMIGO passing an variable to say that this pass is to Reexecute MIGO.
    2- I've created a MIRO Sub-WF. Even it had been called...and this MIRO task can be in User's inbox on SBWP, Another user can Cancel MIGO and it will re-start a Goods receipt process that will start from the Triggering event on MIGO Sub-WF.
    3-When it occurs, I put a logic in the end of the MIGO Sub-WF: If the value of the control variable (passed though the Triggering event) is X, I put an Process control task, type 7 (Terminate WF, and his father can continue), that terminate this MIGO's Sub-WF.
    But this logic is wrong, because when the user Cancel the Goods receipt on MIGO, this MIGO's Sub-WF give error and its Event linkage is set to diactivated.
    Why is it happen ? Is it because the object is called by the same Key, even by another event ?

    Nothing in there, Philip . . . the folder was empty.
    In case it's relevant, I found the installation confusing. The zip file went to my desktop and when I opened it, I dragged the app file to Applications and ran it - is this the correct proceedure?

  • Can I run Async NSURLConnection within an NSOperationQueue? Doesn't Work!

    So, I have subclassed NSOperation, and within my 'main' method, I try to initialize an asynchronous call...I then create several of these objects and add them to an NSOperationQueue. The reason I want to run an Async network call within an NSOperation is so that I can prioritize calls and also limit the maximum connections. I essentially want to make sure certain calls are fired off and completed before moving on to others to enhance the user experience. Unfortunately, I never see the NSUrlConnection delegates firing. For the time being, I am running synchronous NSUrlConnection calls, but I have no way of canceling those network calls once they are fired off if I cancel the operation which is why I would like to use the async call method.
    Subclassed 'Async' NSOperation Code Sample
    - (void)main
    if ( self.isCancelled )
    [self cancelOperation];
    return;
    if (connection!=nil) { [connection release]; }
    if (data!=nil) { [data release]; }
    [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES;
    NSURLRequest* request = [NSURLRequest requestWithURL:imageUrl cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0];
    connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self];
    If I could use the above implementation, then if [NSOperationQueue cancelAllOperations] was called, then I can setup some "cancel" logic to kill the open connections and free up some objects by checking the isCancelled method as I'm streaming data.
    However, I'm stuck with the following code, and as far as I can tell, there is no way to kill a synchronous NSUrlConnection call.
    - (void)main
    if ( self.isCancelled ) return;
    if (data!=nil) { [data release]; }
    NSURLResponse *response;
    NSError *error;
    [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = YES;
    data = [NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest:[NSURLRequest requestWithURL:imageUrl cachePolicy:NSURLRequestUseProtocolCachePolicy timeoutInterval:60.0] returningResponse:&response error:&error];
    if (self.isCancelled) return;
    if (data != nil)
    //do some stuff with data
    [UIApplication sharedApplication].networkActivityIndicatorVisible = NO;
    [data release]; //don't need this any more, its in the UIImageView now
    data=nil;
    Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    (edit) removed non-working suggestion. still researching.
    (edit2) this seems to work in my .bashrc:
    This seems to work (it's the conditional block you have, with one minor modification):
    # TMUX
    if which tmux 2>&1 >/dev/null; then
    #if not inside a tmux session, and if no session is started, start fbterm and a new tmux session
    test -z "$TMUX" && fbterm && (tmux attach || tmux new-session)
    fi
    This also seems to work, without the conditional:
    [[ $TERM != "screen" ]] && fbterm && tmux && exit

  • Script doesn't work in task scheduler

    I know it has already posted many times but I have already tried everything and still I can't get it to work.
    The script is a simple send email function and it works if executed from the command prompt:
    powershell.exe -f .\sendEmail.ps1 [email protected] "Test Subject" "Test Message"
    But in the task scheduler it doesn't work and no email is sent. The exit code of the task is 0xFFFD0000:
    Task Scheduler successfully completed task "\SendEmailTest" , instance "{15ff2070-ee25-4b2e-9ae1-274eda0d8c3a}" , action "powershell.exe" with return code 4294770688.
    The task is configured to run under the SYSTEM account with highest privilege, powershell ist configured with unrestricted execution policy, why it doesn't work?
    I have tried also with a simpler task to create a text file
    New-Item c:\scripts\new_file.txt -type file -force -value "This is text added to the file"
    But it doesn't work too, so it should be some other missing privilege somewhere but I couldn't find anything in internet.
    Thanks for any help

    I found another possible issue while looking at a similar problem. I was unable to execute a PowerShell script as a Task Scheduler action, even though the script ran correctly when logged into Windows as the target user and running within PowerShell.
    Task Scheduler would consistently display the 0xFFFD0000 error when I nominated the script in the task's action arguments using what I believed to be normal PowerShell quoting rules:
    -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File 'D:\full path\to\script.ps1'
    PowerShell acquiesced and Task Scheduler fired off the task immediately and without issue when I changed the quotes I used from single to double:
    -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "D:\full path\to\script.ps1"
    Dropping to a command prompt and executing the full command immediately revealed the problem:
    D:\>C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File 'D:\full path\to\script.ps1'Processing -File ''D:\full path\to' failed: The given path's format is not supported. Specify a valid path for the -File parameter.
    Notice the strange use of two single quotes before the path and one single quote after.
    The moral of the story: When feeding the full path of a script to PowerShell as a command line parameter,
    use double quotes!

  • Create a Task, for use in "Deferred Task"

    I am in the processing of creating Deferred Tasks for my Update-User workflow.
    I know how to create these easily. My problem is : the actual "Task" itself, which will be called upon from the Workflow.

  • How to Get a list of pending deferred tasks

    Hi all
    there is a bunch of unfinished threads here asking how to get a list/report of deferred tasks that are associated with user objects and scheduled for future execution.
    I need this list and I can't find out how to get it anyway.
    I don't care if it's a SJSIM report, a database query or a SJSIM log mining exercise.
    Does anyone know how to do this?
    My org has just gone live with SJSIM and I want to report on the number of legacy resource accounts that have had deferred tasks created against them for future disabling/deletion (our consultants added this workflow based on rules with an email warning, a disabling deferred task set for 2 weeks from now and a deleting deferred task for 6 months after that). Hopefully I can say "look, 5,000 legacy accounts are going to be cleaned up!
    Thanks in advance

    You can do it with a custom workflow, something like this:
         <Activity>
            <Action id='0' class='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
              <Argument name='op' value='queryObjectNames'/>
              <Argument name='type' value='User'/>
              <Argument name='attributes'>
                 <list>
                        <new class='com.waveset.object.AttributeCondition'>
                           <s>deferredTaskDate</s>
                           <s>isPresent</s>
                        </new>
                  </list>
               </Argument>
            <Action id='1' process='Check User'>
              <Iterate for='currentUser' in='queryResult'/>
              <Argument name='accountId' value='$(currentUser)'/>
            </Action>
         </Activity>And:
           <WFProcess name='Check User'>
             <Variable name='accountId' input='true'/>
             <Activity id='0' name='start'>
               <Transition to='Check User'/>
             </Activity>
             <Activity id='1' name='Check User' hidden='true'>
               <Action id='1' name='Get User View' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
                 <Argument name='op' value='getView'/>
                 <Argument name='type' value='User'/>
                 <Argument name='id' value='$(accountId)'/>
                 <Argument name='authorized' value='true'/>
               </Action>
               <Transition to='Got One'>
                   <notnull>
                           <ref>view.accounts[Lighthouse].properties.tasks[Legacy Cleanup].date<ref>
                    </notnull>
                 </Transition>
                 <Transition to='end'/>
              </Activity>
              <Activity id='2 name='Got One'>
                 <ActionResult name='users' type='message' overwrite='false'>
                    <ref>accountId</ref>
                  </ActionResult>
              </Action>
              <Transition to='end'/>
            </Activity>
         </WFProcess>This just gives a rough idea of how it can be done. It might be best to bring your consultants back in to implement this.

  • How to check if a user has a deferred task or not?

    Right now, I use getView and then check for the deferred task as below
    1)
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='getView'/>
    <Argument name='type' value='User'/>
    <Argument name='id' value='$(accountId)'/>
    </Action>
    2)
    <Transition to='Add Deferred Task'>
    <isnull>
    <ref>view.accounts[Lighthouse].properties.tasks[Task Name]</ref>
    </isnull>
    </Transition>
    Is there a quicker way to combine both steps 1 and 2 into one step?

    Here's my code
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='queryObjectNames'/>
    <Argument name='type' value='User'/>
    <Argument name='single' value='true'/>
    <Argument name='attributes'>
    <map>
    <s>accountId</s>
    <ref>accountId</ref>
    <s>deferredTaskDate</s>
    <s>Task 123</s>
    </map>
    </Argument>
    </Action>
    So I'll pass in 2 parameters, the accountId and a task name. I want to see if this user has that particular task name or not.
    In the WF trace, I see this
    Argument attributes = {accountId=ABC, deferredTaskDate=Task 123}
    queryResult is null because it could not find this user even though user ABC exists in IDM and has a deferred task named Task 123.
    Is my code wrong and how do I use AttributeCondition in the queryObjectNames above?

  • Dates appear different in log file vs. debug page for Deferred Task

    I added a deferred task and in the log file, the date appeared correctly as
    Mon Dec 15 16:34:11 PST 2008
    But when I viewed the user in the debug page, the date appeared as
    <Date>2008-12-16T00:34:11.430Z</Date>
    I called an external java class that return a Date object
    <Action id='0' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='addDeferredTask'/>
    <Argument name='date'>
    <invoke name='addWeekDays' class='MyDateUtil'/>
    </Argument>
    </Action>
    Do you have any ideas?

    IDM commonly stores dates in a Java or JDBC date format (which is what your debug date is) but often formats the date differently for log files and for web pages. It's annoying if you're trying to line two different outputs up.

  • Claim and Approval action giving abnormal behavior in worklist app in oim11gr2.

    hi guys
    we have following environment...
    weblogic 10.3.6 and oim 11g r2 bp03 in two node clustered environment which are load balanced with apache http server,everything was working fine with initially configured oim front end url wls.mycompany.com:80,Then we were forced to change the oimfront end url to identity.mycompany.com:80 by following
    1.oim config change
    2.call back url and worklist app changes in approval task of each composites in soa-infra
    Observed following abnormality behavior in approval workflow of application instance provisioning after oimfrontend url change.
    when approver click on approval task ,the claim action popup window displayed successfully
    when approver claim the action and it completes and popup window persist there with blank display(Observed a chopping  of  front end url from  identity.mycompany.com/identity/faces/...... to www.identity.com/faces/.........Then approver needs to close the popup).
    when approver click on approval task the approve action popup window displayed successfully
    when approver approve the action and it completes and popup window persist there with blank display(Observed a chopping  of  front end url from  identity.mycompany.com/identity/faces/...... to www.identity.com/faces/.......Then approver needs to close the popup).
    Application instance provisioning is working fine even though the above abnormal behavior was there...
    Why this url change is happening and How can we fix the abnormal url change from identity.mycompany.com/identity/faces/......  to   www.identiy.com/faces/...... ?

  • Not able to Pass Reference Variables to Deferred task

    Hi All,
    I am not able to Pass the reference variables to Deferred task, With the following code, I am getting null values (for the passed refs) in Deferred Task.
    Code is as:
    <Action id='1' name='Set Deferred Task Action' application='com.waveset.session.WorkflowServices'>
    <Argument name='op' value='addDeferredTask'/>
    <Argument name='type' value='User'/>
    <Argument name='name' value='$(empId)'/>
    <Argument name='authorized' value='true'/>
    <Argument name='task' value='WF_User Deferred Task'/> // Task defination
    <Argument name='date'>
    <Date>2008-11-19T14:50:18.840Z</Date>
    </Argument>
    <Argument name='taskDefinition'>
    <block trace='true'>
    <defvar name='usrObject'> // This is the variable I am passing to 'WF_User Deferred Task'
    <new class='com.waveset.object.GenericObject'/>

    <ref>newStatus</ref>
    </map>
    </invoke>
    </block>
    </Argument>
    </Action>
    <Transition to='End'/>
    Please suggest me.
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    yeah, you don't have your usrObject available in the deffered task however all variables that you put inside the usrObject are avialble. Like <ref>accId<ref> and <ref>updStatus</ref>. If you still need them organized hierarchically, you might try to add one more level to the object before passing it to addDefferedTask
                <block>
                  <defvar name='objWrapper'>
                    <new class='com.waveset.object.GenericObject'/>
                  </defvar>
                  <defvar name='usrObject'>
                    <new class='com.waveset.object.GenericObject'/>
                  </defvar>
                  <invoke name='setAttributes'>
                    <ref>usrObject</ref>
                    <map>
                      <s>accId</s>
                      <s>yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy</s>
                      <s>updStatus</s>
                      <s>xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx</s>
                    </map>
                  </invoke>
                  <invoke name='setAttributes'>
                    <ref>objWrapper</ref>
                    <map>
                      <s>usrObject</s>
                      <ref>usrObject</ref>
                    </map>
                  </invoke>
                  <ref>objWrapper</ref>
                </block>I hope you ve got the idea. Cheerz.
