Approved for Chase Freedom!

I started the credit rebuilding process last year and have taken my scores from the high 500's to the low 700's in that time. I guess my scores are pretty good now but until today I've never been approved for a regular credit card that wasn't secured! I was really hesitant to apply actually, then they approved me right away and I'm so happy! My current scores, per MPM, are around 670, but that's a recent hit due to another new account I opened mid-July (Amazon Store Card). I was worried that would lead to my denial by Chase but chose to apply anyway. I'm an AU on my dad's Chase Slate, and based on posts on this forum it seems like their reconsideration process is pretty generous with approvals. I figured there was little harm since I could point out my responsible handling of my AU account if I had to call. I now have: CapOne Secured, $500 limitChase Slate (Authorized User), $3200 limitBofA Cashback, $2000 limitAmazon Store Card, $1200 limitChase Freedom, $2200 limitThese last few weeks have been amazing credit-wise, actually... First BofA returned my deposit for their secured card, increased my limit and upgraded me to Cash Rewards, then I managed to get the Amazon Store Card (after being rejected just over a year ago), and now this! So pleased, and very excited to cancel my stupid CapOne Secured. Thanks for listening

Congrats

  • Approved for Chase CSP!

I applied last week and had to do the additional verification step of sending in my DL copy. Woke up this morning and the new account was listed in my chase page! Woohoo! This was truly the only other card that I wanted from Chase or anyone so I am very happy for now. I really have no desire for anything else until at least 2016, even those high limit triple pull Cap One cards LOL. Thanks for all your help and advice yall!

  • Chase Freedom Card Approved and BofA CLI

Hey everybody, Saturday night I hit the apply button for Chase Freedom (also Hyatt, but I don't think that app went through), and I hit the luv button on BofA. Neither was instant and I was quite nervous about it. Apparently both saw an alert I had placed (Chase apparently bypassed it for my Slate last month). Called Fraud dept for Chase today, answered a few questions and the lady approved, didn't tell me CL or APR though. She said she can send out my card in 2 business days.  Then I got on the horn with BofA. I told them I had submitted CLI request online but got no response. Due to alert and my card not reporting to TU, she had to pull EX after I answered some questions (grrr on the double pull). She saw I requested a $10k limit on my currently $1k card. I also asked for APR reduction. She crunched her numbers and said she would be happy to raise my CL to $7.5k, but unfortunately there wasn't a better APR offer for me. She said sometimes it due to the original terms of the card and sometimes it's necessary for a whole new application to correct that. I told her I'd accept the CLI, but would have to think about applying for a new card. I'll let my reports age a little before I do. Should I hold off on Hyatt and another BofA card at the moment? My util is a little higher than id like it to be, but I'd want to take the AAoA hit at once. Anyway, I'm glad these two were approved.

Congrats Cain! Chase should be able to tell you the limit or if you're existing customer look for the acct online.I saw the numbers, was a bit disappointed, but I got the card and in time to qualify for the signup no less. I'll worry about the rest later. So I have Slate and Freedom now with chase after being shutout for a while, I will tidy up the reports a bit more before going for a co-branded card to sorta replace my HHonors AmEx. I was leaning Hyatt, but now I'm seeing IHG might be good one too. Hehehe

  • CLI and Chase Freedom

Sooooo... I had too much free time on my hands today. First, despite getting my Amazon Store Card CLI a couple of weeks ago from $900->$2,000, I kept reading about how people who didn't get counter offers we're "leaving money on the table".. been stewing over it for a week, decided to say screw it, it's an SP anyways, and requested a bump to $4,000. BAM! Approved, no counter. Part of me is really happy, and part of me is thinking "**bleep** go back and ask for a ridiculous line and make them counter". Don't worry, I'm not actually going to do that. I barely use the damn card as is. Just like the UTIL padding it gives me. Although I'm liking the new padding even more.  Secondly, after my app spree in March, I've been really sad about my Chase denial. My Amex and Discover are lovely cards, and I'm maximing my cashback bonuses, but I  feel like there are a few opportunities I'm missing out on because AM/DSC aren't  accepted at some of my most common spending establishments. So I've been stewing on this since then, and I probably check 2x a month (I know, OCD, I know...) on both Chase and CapOne for preapprovals. Well, my last check-in showed a prequal for Chase Freedom only. High APR, don't care because it would be PIF every statement anyways, same as my other tradelines. But I didn't wan't to leave the garden. I wanted to wait for CSP prequal, as I want a nice travel card and could meet the spend for the points bonus. I didn't want to waste another INQ until at a minimum until I was one year out on the old ones. Today,  twenty minutes after saying "screw it" on asking for an Amazon CLI, I said "screw it what's one more inquiry"... and this happened:  My face. This is my second highest card limit, and my highest ever starting limit.  Well, I guess it's time to replace my spade with a seedling.

  • TOO MANY INQUIRIES - Chase Freedom - Dumb move :-/

Let me preface by saying I made a dumb move today.  I am in the rebuilding phase still, and I applied for CHASE Freedom, and Barclay Rewards - both denied even on Recon. I got excited because my scores bumped from mid-500s 2 months ago to 600-610 across the board. . stupid move. I now have 6 inquiries in the past 60 days, a total of 11 since January. So far my scores have not taken any hits from INQ .. What are the odds I'll see a big dip? Or any dip at all? On a positive note, my UTIL has been lowered from 81% to 40% which will all update by 8/3 .. so that should hopefully help my score rebound, or at least cancel out one another. I am officially gardening until the New Year!!! I even put freezes on my burueas after the denials. I dont need judgment, just advice. :-) My scores 2 months ago were: TU 555 EX 560 EQ 540, as of today TU 600 EX 610 EQ 602. No lates in one year's time, 2 medical collections aging off soon. I almost have an addiction to applying for credit, and I got overly excited last month with my new approvals for CAP ONE (after charge off 2.5 years ago) for $1,000 lines. . Hence the freezes and GARDENING. Any advice would really help .. I am afraid of a large score dip with 2 new inquiries on top of the 4 I already had in just 60 days, even though I saw no dip last time. Go forth, credit kings !

  • Chance of getting approved for a Chase Freedom? (with a twist)

This is a very niche request, hopefully some people can provide insight. I am a Canadian residing in Canada (hence the name), with no US work or study visas, no ITIN, no SSN. I would like to get a Chase Freedom if at all possible, from a US border town in WA most likely. I currently have:Banner Bank TruRewards Mastercard, $5k limit (just under 1 year)
TD Bank NA Aeroplan Visa Signature, $5k limit (about 7 months)
Bank of America Better Balance, $3k limit (about 3 months) AAoA about 7 months. Maximum 3 credit hits. Can't buy credit score from myfico as I do not have a SSN. BofA rep in branch told me my Experian score was 720 or thereabouts when I applied though.Any other non-resident aliens able to give some insight?

My comment is based on the fact that after 2001 US law requires applicants to provide a SSN or ITIN on their applications. Chase applications require a SSN for the application to be submitted. • Chase Freedom Approval after being declined 2 months ago!

I have been a customer of Chase for over 20 years.  In April, I was declined for a Chase Freedom card.  Given the many accounts that I had with Chase, investments, etc. and my score was 695 pretty much across the board, I was shocked!  Recently Chase began soliciting feedback from their customers "We Are Listening" and encourage feedback from prior experiences or suggestions.  Of course I responded and recommended that the CC application should include information regarding current customers, etc.  I received a call from Chase and was asked to go to a branch and resubmit my application ( it was over 30 days old by now).  I was told that the branch rep would "assist" in submitting my application.  Within 24 hours I was approved for a $5,000 Freedom card!

  • Chase Freedom Approved! My first Pre-Approved Offer.

Finally, After working for years to revive my credit scores ( with the help of some very savvy contributors on here) I am getting some love.  I was declined for this card in July' 14 (they pulled an equifax score of 625).   Been in the garden a while but I got a pre-approved offer for the Chase Freedom today(my scores are in the high 650's now.)  I was skeptical and researched how solid there invitations are on my fico. Turns out they are pretty solid.  I appd and got instant approval for $800.   Now if I can just get out of low credit limit pergatory.  I am going to recon for a higher limit. Wish me luck!!!

  • Chase Freedom

It can be any of them really. Use the credit pull database but even then it is not 100% on which they will pull. They could pull 2 or 3 if they really wanted to, especially if you are borderline in the view Also don't forget aside from the $200 bonus, adding 1 authorized user gets you an additional $25. so $225 bonus for $500 spend and authorized user. Thats a really good deal on this card.

  • Pre-Approved for Merrick Double Your Line BUT...

I've been rebuilding my credit for a little over a year and have had great success with it so far. Last week I received a pre-approval offer for Merrick Bank's Double Your Limit, with what I think are probably some of the best terms they offer: No annual fee$1250 limit, to double in 7 months if conditions are met0% interest for 12 months19.45% thereafterI had decided to accept this offer as I really want to close my CapOne Secured, but there's one problem... They ran their original soft pull in May, but I just barely opened an Amazon Store Card. I checked on MPM, and my scores have fallen almost 40 points across the board since yesterday. Honestly I'm pretty surprised the hit was so drastic; I expected there would be some decrease due to the inquiry and the decline in Average Age of Accounts, but 40 points seems excessive. It's probably because I made a purchase on the card that brought the utilization up to 32%, but my overall utilization is excellent... Anyway, that's not the point. The point is, I'm afraid to try to accept the offer now. Has anyone been offered terms like these with a lower score? Mine was about 710 when they pulled, is now 670. I already made a payment that brought my Amazon utilization down to 23%, and will make another in about two weeks. Is there any chance my scores will rebound by the end of the month? The offer expires August 27th. Do you think if I let it expire, wait for my scores to increase, and then call they might re-extend the offer? I know it's not the very best card or anything, but it would be my first granted unsecured, and my first with an interest rate under 20%. I'm still very timid about applying for cards, even with my credit being improved (though less so now lol) so the pre approval made me feel a little more secure until I checked MPM. Now I'm just kind of bummed  Thanks in advance for the feedback.

It's my understanding that Double Your Line is Merrick's credit rebuilding card. They have a secured version, and unsecured which is invite only. The invitations often have different APRs and fees based on the soft pull the do for the invite. This was the card and terms offered to me at 710, which obviously they won't approve at 670. Ignore me, I'm an idiot... I thought you were saying my scores weren't good enough for Merrick so I was confused! I like the Quicksilver, also like the Chase Freedom, I'm just worried my scores aren't high enough for either after this recent hit.

  • Approved for Venture card (Visa signature), 10K limit!

My white whale is the CSP and I apply once per year and get declined everytime. I have a freedom with a toy limit, $500. I've had it for almost 2 years and they never increase my limit. I decided that I would app for the Slate and I was approved with another toy limit, $500. I figured that I had pretty much maxed myself out for the number of credit cards I was eligible for (I now have 8).Well, I went to capital one and saw the venture card and thought, why not. Well, to my shock I was approved for 10K. I was floored. In my long life, I haven't had a credit card with a limit higher than $1800. It is my understanding that Chase likes to see, among other things, that you have a credit card with at least 5K. I'm hoping this new Venture limit will allow me to get a CSP in about a year. Also, I believe that I should consolidate my other credit cards onto the Venture.  Question:  Is it better to leave the venture with zero to 10% usage and leave my other cards with balances? Or, transfer all balances to the venture, putting it at 75% usage, while my other cards will be at 0% ? BTW, myfico TU is 695 and I am at 90% usage on all other cards.

New job & multiple cards at 90% is definitely not the time to apply for premium cards then. Get those balances paid way, way down & as many as you can completely paid off. In 6 months, you might be able to get that "Holy Grail" card you keep trying for.shasta wrote:

I couldn't find reliable work in my new field and so far haven't paid off the credit card debt that I ran up. Things are looking up though, I was just made a job offer today and if it works out, I should be able to pay debt off in about 6 months.

If one has a low credit limit on the Chase Freedom, then it might be better to either wait for an automatic CLI or use a HP for a CLI. I understand Chase might be 'singy' with CL's; but I don't agree with applying for another credit card product, for the sole purpose of transferring the SL. However, if one is meeting the maximum $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories; then this might be a good reason for another Freedom. Still, there might be an underlying need here. One must look to see what category is making them reach that $1,500 threshold and weather there is another credit card product that might better meet those needs. I generally have a pretty good feel for activity that is ethically 'iffy', for example out-of-the-ordinary MS falls into that category for me, as would applying for the same card multiple times just to get a new account bonus.  This being said, re-apping the same card for the purpose of getting a better APR and/or CL to me is completely ethical and 'OK'.  You mention you don't agree with applying for another Chase product with the intention of transferring the CL to another card, but I don't see the negative in that.  Is there an ethical concern with this I'm missing?

Tonight I was accepted for the AMEX BCE and Sallie Mae World Mastercard! EDIT: ALSO CHASE FREEDOM! AMEX: $3000 CLSM MC: $5000 CLCHASE FREEDOM: $2500  I still need to do some researching on the world version of the MC, but I'm excited! Hopefully can get a Chase Signature in a few months! My Discover FICO showed: 746 but last update was 6/21/15 and I had a statement date of 6/27 that reported less than 1% utilization down from about 30%. Amex gave me a $250 bonus if I spend $1000 in 3 months, and SM is $25 after 1 purchase in 3 months I believe. Reported employed student making $25k (estimated if I remain in my job) 22 years old.

After posting 2 replies that disapeard after page refreshed. a short version. I may do Freedom now and only have $1500 in 3 months spending to get bonuses(Missed out on $200 for Freedom). I want to wait on CSP to spread spending out on bonuses. And If I wait till after August I can use the 40k point bonus for my August 2016 honeymoon and decide if the card is worth keeping before my AF comes up. It will be nice to use in Canada with no FTF.  After CSP a venture may be after with travel bonus. I should stay under 5 card in 24 months as my portfolio is:Auto Loan: Nov 2012Discover It: July 2013Amex: June 2015Sallie Mae: June 2015 within 24 months: 2If I get Freedom: 3 Then CSP in Fall 2015 or Spring 2016: 4. Then Cap 1 doesn't seem to have same limit so should be good with them after Chase.   EDIT: DID CHASE FREEDOM AS WELL!

  • Approved for CSP! After being Denied Discover lol

In shock.. just approved for CSP $8,000 SL 15.99% APR. My highest starting limit and best APR since I began rebuilding! To take a step back. I had no credit before April of this year (besides student loans) due to messing things up about six years ago. My two worst baddies are two charge offs, which are both credit cards. One was paid for less than owed and one never paid. They both fall off this time next year. I also have several 180, 60 and 30 day lates on a card that are a few years old (card is closed and fully paid, never charged off). My scores are in sig. You can see where I've come from in just four months. I've had the three cards in my sig for about 5 months now, PIF..utilization below 9% total. Really shocked I got approved for this prime card after only four months of rebuilding. Discover declined me yesterday with same profile lol.  If I go for the Freedom today, will it only be one HP? Or will I be denied since I already app'd once?

Freedom very well could be the same HP, although might be a different one..  If I were you and under 5 NEW CC accunts in the last two years I would apply and get the freedom now as well, being today.. The Freedom/CSP combo is the way to go!  You transfer the 5x ur points from the freedom to the CSP then to the partner.  CSP isn't meant to really be a cash back card thus the transfer to the partner.   This is what makes the Freedom/CSP such a great combo for people that travel or take vacations. It might need to be reconned or could be denied, but a great combo and imo worth the try. congrats on your CSP approvalI understand the combo benefit, so I am definitely targeting it. My issue is if it's a different HP or possibly different I might as well wait --- to take advantage of the $200 offer if it comes back during the holiday season this year. That and for the next 3 months everything is going through the CSP anyway to hit the spend requirement for the bonus. So all indications tell me to wait on the Freedom.Fair enough.. Guess is it whether using the same HP is worth 100$ extra dollars on the freedom, but no gurantee?  Otherwise if you value a HP at $100 being the $200 signup bonus then wait until November or Dec when the $200 bonus hopefully comes back.  As Always YMMV if they choose to use the same HP or not..  Anyways, go with your gut feeling as it is usually the best whatever that might be.All valid points. The other chance is that they do 2x HPs....no gurantee it will be the same HP. Either way I'm happy to be a part of the club. I've been targeting this travel card since I started rebuilding about 5 months ago. I appreciate all if your input.

  • Approved for Marriot and 2nd Venture

I applied  for the Marriot card mostly for the 70K bonus points, will probably close my Ritz card and keep Marriot after 1st year if I cant extract good value from it with the high annual fee.  I currently have 5 Chase cards and the Marriot is my 6th. Was approved with a 20K starting limit. Ive opened quite a few more than 5 cards in the last 2 year so I guess Chase new policy does not apply to cobranded cards. I thought I may have reached my internal limit with Chase prior to this app as it was pending for several days but turns out they just wanted to verify that it was in fact me that apped. Didnt really need another Venture but like so many here I coudnt resist the urge to apply for a new card and nice sign up bonus. I was instantly approved for 20K, first Venture is also at 20K. One of the nicest features about the Venture to me is the ability to dispute charges online without having to call and go through a long process with the a CSR. Two other nice features with the Venture is that points post right away and it seems that you can redeem points against the same charge several times. Also read a few posts recently that the Venture card is now Metal, anyone know if thats true?
