Apps password unknown

While running fndcpass to change passwords for a new clone, the apps password somehow was set to an unknown value. I know the old apps password, but am not able to successfully connect to the database with it. (I can connect with that password to the production environment which is the source for the clone.)
We have a custom script that runs fndcpass. (This was my first time using this script and creating a clone.) It makes a copy of fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid tables. The first time I ran it, it errored. So ... I ran it again (and over-wrote fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid). I then learned fndcpass should be run from the database server - I was on the apps server. So ... I ran it on the database server. It got to a certain point in the script and the script stopped. (I later learned this happens due to an error in the script and that one simply needs to enter the password again - but I didn't know that.) Somewhere in here the apps account became locked - I unlocked it. Now I am unable to run fndcpass because the apps password is unknown.
Does it have anything to do with the values in fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid? If so, can I get obtain the data for those two tables from the current production database? (The clone datafiles are from 1/27/10 and today is 3/1/10). If the issue is unrelated to fnd_users and fnd_oracle_userid data, how can I set the apps password? (Oracle documentation insists that one should not use 'alter user' to reset the apps or applsys passwords.) I'm trying to avoid starting the clone over. I welcome any suggestions on how I can resolve the issue with the unknown apps password.

Hi,
So ... against the recommendation of Oracle, I decided to issue an 'alter user' and change the password. Then I get the following error when running FNDCPASS: 'FNDCPASS was not able to decrypt password for <module/user> during applsys password change.' Do not use the alter command to change the password as this is not supported.
So ... then I decided I would try exp/imp the FND_USER and FND_ORACLE_USEID data from production. However, I get the following error when exporting the FND_USER data from production: 'EXP-00003: no storage definition found for segment(407, 25131).'
At this point I think I am throwing in the towel and going to start the clone over. Am new to Forum and didn't see answer in FAQ ... how do I close this?I believe this is the right approach to do for now. Once you are done with the clone, please make sure you take a backup of the two tables on the cloned instance before changing the apps password using FNDCPASS.
To close the thread, just mark it as answered.

Hussein

    Kathryn,
Had the problem also.  Found in the forums and it worked for me:
    go to settings
go to app store or "store" on my ipad
    click on the apple id
    sign out
sign in, again with id and password
    then do update.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT201272 Where can I find the app password saver by yonglin wang.  i wanted to restore my iphone and i had purchased this app and it is not anywhere in my purchases to reload.  Why is it not on my list of purchases?

Where can I find the app "password Saver" by yonglin wang?  while updating my iphone the app was dropped for some reason.  I went to reload from my purchased apps and it is not available.  The history shows my purchase but I can not find the app to reload.  I've lost some critical info and need to retreive if possible.  Any suggestions?

You tried what ? If the app is no longer available in the store (can you find it in the main part of the store ?) for re-downloading then you would need to have a copy of it somewhere e.g. on your computer's iTunes, on a backup of your downloads.

It's mentioned in the document twice
    1. For APPLSYSPUB/GUEST as you mentioned
    2. Under "Verify the new password" which cover the apps/applsys passwords
If you search the doc for "AutoConfig" you will find it there.

  • Lost of APPS password for EBS 11i (11.5.10.2)

I need to reset APPS password in my test environment. The APPS password is now messed up and I need to find a way to reset it. I am in the process of cloning an existing environment. I can not start all the services yet. The FNDCPASS utility works only when you know a valid APPS password. However, my current APPS password is not working anymore. Is there way to accomplish this?
Greatly appreciated if anyone can help.

    Hi,
Really bad situation....although you might still come over it if you have not played around much...
Do you have any other environement with apps password working and also if you have not run autoconfig on target server? If yes then it would be easier...
Take backup of FND_USER, FND_ORACLE_USERID on target server(where you are facing issue).
    truncate these table from target.
eport these tables from some working env(source) and import it here(target) and then use apps pass of source to work here.

  • How do i set up generated app password for gmail

Hi. I don't see an option for setting up generated app passwords for my gmail accounts on the iPad settings menu. (yahoo has a line for password on this screen)
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (thinking maybe I should use the password on installing), but that doesn't work.
.(here is the pic for gmail options which doesn't give option for password)
Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

if you don't setup the mail account on your ipad but just sync mails from your computer to the ipad, I think it would display like that
you need to add the mail account rather then just sync  mails from your computers mail program

  • Gmail App Password - why can't I use it?

Hey guys. For extra security, I always use like to use the Google App Password option (instead of my main password) on mobile devices.
    https://security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords (don't have 10 posts to post a link)
Got a new Z30 today (latest firmware running), and when I try to add my Gmail account with a newly generated App Password, it says the following:
"please use your account password instead of an application-specific password".
Why is this? Don't have this issue on my iPhone or Android devices. Why is BB insisting on knowing my master password?
Interestingly, there IS a BB option when generating the App Password (which I used). And when I go to change the password in Account Settings, there is no field to change password....

I believe you have to have two-step verification enabled in GMail for the app password to work. Otherwise, you have to use your regular password. I've helped lots of people who had two step verification enabled and couldn't log into GMail and the app password always worked so it must be something with the settings in your GMail account.
The reason you can't change the password is because you're using an app password. If you change your GMail password the individual app password doesn't change.
So, if you're not using two-step verification then don't use the app password.
    1. Please thank those who help you by clicking the "Like" button at the bottom of the post that helped you.
    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Is there any Profile option available to encrypt and use APPS password Oracle Application Host script

@Hi, How do we encrypt APPS password usage  in Oracle Application Host script and still let it be used in encrypted format (eg.$1, $FCP_LOGIN should not show plain text password).
Appreciate the process along with any Profile available to place this control.
Concurrent Program Setup Option SECURE/ENCRYPT controls $1, $FCP_LOGIN respectively, but Developer still has access to view/log the APPS Password.
Can we have a System profile or an Apps DBA level Setup to encrypt and use the APPS/Password.
    Thanks in Advance
    Lakshmi

Are you linking the host script to fndcpesr? E.g.:
Host script defined with prog extension:
    XXSCRIPT.prog
    Move it to relevant dir:
    $XX_TOP/bin
Create a soft link to fndcpesr
    ln -s $FND_TOP/bin/fndcpesr XXSCRIPT

  • Are the apps passwords still hardcoded in release 12

    All,
Just wondering, are the apps password still hardcoded in any files in release 12.
    Thanks
    Giri

No more passwords are placed in txt files.
modplsql component is not coming in R12, it averts placing apps passwords in DAD file.
map viewer configuration file needs to have apps user/password or csf schema/pass but it will be encrcypted once oafm oc4j gets bounced.
    $ORA_CONFIG_HOME/10.1.3/j2ee/oafm/config/mapViewerConfig.xml
So, no security issues in R12.
