  • Can not login to Oracle Application Express after upgrade to 3.2

I installed oracle database express and then I upgrade APEX to 3.2 on it. I got the login page but I can not login by using any account, like SYS, SYSTEM. From the document, internal ADMIN account should exist but I did not see it from dba_users table.
    Thanks,

    HI Don,
I did run apxchpwd.sql to change the Application Express ADMIN user password. Then I invoked http://mymachine:8080/apex and got the Application Express login page. I put ADMIN in workspace and ADMIN in Username and the new password. But I still cannot login. I also tried http://mymachine:8080/apex/apex_admin page login. I typed ADMIN as username and the new password. Then I clicked on Login button. Nothing happened. No error message.
    Any idea?
By the way, what does apxxepwd.sql do?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for replying Joel,
I thought no one reply, but still atleast after one week someone replied me!!!!!
Thanks for your first statement about unnecessary statements, but frankly speakly I tried your reply without doing steps 6,7, 14 & 15 & guess what installation didnt work around and I need to uninstall oracle DB with oracle apex and once again tried with my list of steps on Windows Vista OS and everything work fine, so I think you need to double check with your first statement.
Regarding your Second Statement, yes you are right I tried installation and uninstallation several times both on Windows & and Ubuntu too so I'm really when did this error approach, also I got many other errors too, but as this forum as only 3000 characters I;m unable to paste whole of my log file, so if you can provide your email address I can shot your an email with my original log.
And finally, as this is thread is all about installation on Ubuntu, I'm able to get installation perfectly on Windows OS, but not on Ubuntu OS.
So can you please also provide me proper uninstallation as well as installation steps especially for Ubuntu OS so that I can tried onto my personal laptop.
Thanks you very much once again

    G'Day Apex gurus,
I installed Oracle Database 10g Express edition in my Windows XP PC which comes with Apex 2.1 with no problems. Then I wanted to upgrade Apex 2.1 to 3.2.1 (Currently Apex download in OTN) following the document below:

    with not problems
Then I connected to SQL*Plus as SYS by:
    sqlplus /nolog

My database version is 10.2.0.1.0 Oracle express.
    Operating system is Windows Vista.
I started installing using the following commands.
    @ C:\temp\apex\apexins.sql
it prompts me for the values of sysaux sysaux temp and c:\temp\apex\images\
If I supply the value for images the sqlplus window closes after scrolling a lot of info.
Enroute it also prompts me for a value for 9:
I don't know what the input shall be.
Then it again stops at enter value for version:
    I used 3.2.1.0
The window scrols a while and closes.
later I changed the password and ran the command.
    @c:\temp\apex\apxldimg.sql c:\temp
    but no success with installation.
    the output is as following.

  • Error while renaming column in Apex 3.2.1

    Hi,
I am getting the following error while renaming column in Oracle Apex 3.2.1 through SQL workshop:
    "ORA-24344: success with compilation error"
Interestingly, it only gives an error when I rename the column again to its original name. For example, if I renaming the column X to X1 (no problem) but renaming back to X, I get this error. Same is true for X to X1 to X2 without any issues but renaming back from X2 to either X1 or X, I get the same error.
Any insight into this issue would be very helpful and greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Milaan

I've moved a step ahead, getting the new apex screen at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/ and can also login to my application. However there is no image for Application Express on http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/ and I cannot click on the Login button. Hitting http://127.0.0.1:8080/i/ does list down the images. Any clue on what could be the problem?
For others reference: I'm not sure what was wrong, but I tried the entire steps again, with the 2 changes: shutdown the listener and job process ( in step 3.1) before running 'apexins' and second that I installed on SYSAUX and not USERS (in step 4)
    1. Downloaded apex_3.2.1.zip to C:\Software
    2. unzip apex_3.2.1.zip to C:\Software\apex
    3. started command prompt and set these variables
    set ORACLE_HOME=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server
    set ORACLE_SID=xe
    set ORACLE_PATH=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\bin
    set LD_LIBRARY_PATH=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\lib
3.1 Shutdown the listener and job services
    4.

    CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    5.

    Hi,
When I tried to upgrade APEX within Oracle XE to APEX4.0, I met problems.
    Here's how I did (I'm on windows 7):
    1. Downloaded the latest oracle xe database (based on 10.2.0.1)
    2. Installed it by running the setup.exe. The installation was success. And I can login to the database.

    Hi,
I assume your install did fail.
As you can not find log file I assume it is something relating folder permissions.
I do not know folder these permissions work in Windows.
But try give everybody read/write permission to your d:\apex.
    Then try again
    Regards,
    Jari
Edited by: jarola on Mar 11, 2011 3:58 PM
And change your working directory to d:\apex before you run scripts.
    Then you can run just
@apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/And see this guide
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/upgrade-apex-for-xe-154969.html

    ]# rpm -ivh oracle-xe-10.2.0.1-1.0.i386.rpm
    Then I configure the database
    ]# /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure
    Then I enable remote access
    EXEC DBMS_XDB.SETLISTENERLOCALACCESS (FALSE);
This appears to work properly and I can log into the Apex page at http://server:8080/apex/apex_admin
After this install I'm attempting to upgrade to Apex 3.1.2 and have attempted this several times. Each time, the result is that I can bring up the web page, but cannot authenticate. All that I see is "error on page" at the bottom left of the window. (IE6 or Firefox).
To complete the upgrade I do the following.
    ]$ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/

Then I have logged back in with sqlplus / as sysdba
    and run
@apxxepwd.sql or @apxchpwd (different attempts at the install)
After all of this appearing to run successfully, I cannot log into either the basic apex screen or the apex admin screen.

    Then re-installed from scratch.
I'm new to oracle, and any assistance would be appreciated.

  • Unable to create a notification for a group (Cisco Unity Express 3.2)

There is Cisco ISR 2821 with CME 7.1 and Cisco Unity Express 3.2.
I am trying to create notifications for a group named AAA in CUE.
    I do following (GUI):
    1. Go to Configure -> Groups
    2. Click on the group name AAA.
    3. In Group Profile window 'Enable notification for this user/group' option is enabled.
    4. Go to Mailbox tab. There is an associated mailbox with ticks against Enabled and Fax Enabled.
    5. Go to Notification tab and see the warning:
No Notification Devices found for User/Group
Also, there are another several groups on this system and I am able to turn notification on for them. These groups have the same owners and members that AAA has. Moreover, if I create a new group and set it up absolutely the same as AAA, I can turn notifications on for it.
The problem in this way is that we have our custom greetings and after I created a new group, for example BBB, with the same settings (as AAA, inluding Primary Extansion and Primary E.164 Number) and remove these numbers from AAA, then it works and users would receive notification about new voice messages. BUT, when I call BBB I listen to standart Cisco greeting promts.
I don't undestand why it happens, because all these greetings are determined in Voicemail -> Auto Attendant section and I did not any changes here at all.
How can I fix this 'notification' problem?
    Thanks.

    Process with success:
    unzip the packet in: C:\APEX
    1. Install:
    @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    2. Change to password:
    @apxchpwd,
    3. Run apex_epg_config.sql
    On windows:
@apex_epg_config.sql (page 30, the guide of intallation)
    Important:Replace SYSTEM_DRIVE:\TEMP by C:
    E.g.: @apex_epg_config C:
After this, follow the next steps
    4. ALTER USER ANONYMOUS ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
Finish! Just execute apxldimg.sql script if you is upgrading from a preview release.
Now try the connect on the browser IE6 o later:
    http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin
    Then create your workspace.

Database is up, enterprise manager is up and I can connect and browse just fine, but when I went to set up and configure Apex (it was version 3.0 that came with the database) I could only get a blank page trying to go to either the apex or apex_admin pages.
So re-read documentation and couldn't see what I did wrong. So I started a new Apex install, dropping the FLOWS_030000 and FLOWS_FILES users, downloaded apex 311, and did a fresh install.
For the record, I'm trying to use the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway instead of the Oracle HTTP Server.
    Here are my steps:
Downloaded apex_3.1.1.zip, loaded it up on server, and unzipped the file
    sqlplus "/ as sysdba"

I then checked to see if the package was valid:
    SQL> SELECT STATUS FROM DBA_REGISTRY

Still, when I go to my browser and enter the following url:
    http://dbsu01a.sit.us.wamu.net:7459/apex/apex_admin
all I get is a blank page.
    http://dbsu01a.sit.us.wamu.net:7459/apex
returns a "page not found" error.
It must be one of those "is your computer plugged in?" things - any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here was the fix:
My local_listener parameter in the init.ora (spfile) was not set. I ran the following as sys:
    alter system set local_listener='(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=<hostname>)(PORT=<port>))' scope=both;
Bounced the listener and the database and after about 3 minutes listener status showed the following new endpoint:
    Listening Endpoints Summary...
    (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<host>)(PORT=9969)))
(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=<host>)(PORT=7459))(Presentation=HTTP)(Session=RAW)) <-- this is the XDB entry.
After that I was able to log into APEX!

  • Problem upgrading 10g Express to Apex 3.1.2

I have Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 installed on windows XP. I want to develop an application using oracle express (apex), so I thought it would be a good idea to upgrade apex (from the default apex 2.0 that came with 10g xe) to the latest, release 3.1,2 before starting. I have tried up to upgrade twice & it has failed. Without going into a ton of details, based on log errors that I saw each time, it looks like installation script, apexins.sql, expects the 1st param to be the default tablespace instead of the password. Any ideas about this?
    My other questions are:
    1) Prior to upgrading to rel 3.1.2, do I need to create the apex user/passwd FIRST? The doc did not say to create the account first.(so I didn't). It says apexins parameters are the followiing, but the log errors I got seem to disagree:
    @apexins <password> <tablespace_htmldb> <tablespace_files> <tablespace_temp>
    <images> <connect>
    2) Am I following the correct installation instructions for apex rel 3? From what I read, I believe I can go directly from apex rel 2.0 to 3.1.2. I found 2 different install docs for release 3 & they were different. Both docs said to run the change passwd script(apxchpwd) after installation, but one installation doc had 2 additional scripts (which I didn't run). Can someone please point me to the right install instructions?
    3) After searching I found an old apex 2.2 installaction tutorial that says you need to install HTTP prior to APEX. Apparently I misinterpreted the 3.1 install doc that said HTTP was already included in oracle 9.2 or higher. I assumed that I didn't need to install HTTP since oracle xe is rel 10. Now I think I need to install HTTP first from the companion CD BEFORE upgrading to APEX 3.1.2. Is this correct?
    3) It says that 85M is required in SYSTEM tablespace for apex 3. The system tablespace size is 76800 (default).
Should I increase it before attempting to upgrade again? (I expected the default to be big enough since apex comes with the db)
4)Any suggestions/tips for starting over are more than welcome! Again I saw > 1 doc on how to cleanup a bad installation. Both said to drop the flows_0300 user, but one said to exec wwv_flow_upgrade.switch_schemas, which I did before I did attempted the 2nd install. Am I supposed to run the switch_schemas or not to cleanup a bad install? Also, in the troubleshooting doc I did not see an option for calling switch_schemas for my apex release (2.1) so I just followed the examples and substituted 'FLOWS_020100'. for 'FLOWS_020200' parameter. Was that a good or bad idea?
    5) Is there any other software (i.e application, server?) that needs be to installed before or after apex 3.1.2? Anything else I missed? The documentation is not clear & has omissions.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I'm assuming that you're doing this on a Windows based machine and Apex 3.1.2 has already been downloaded from the Application Express webpage and will use port http 8080.
NOTE: Make sure your Oracle Database XE does not automatically startup when Windows boots up. If that is the case, then kindly disconnect Oracle Database XE before proceeding with any of these steps.
Step 1: Unzip Apex to a suitable location (preferable "c:\oraclexe\apex").
Step 2: Start a SQL Plus session from c:\oraclexe\apex and login as a "sysdba".
    sqlplus / as sysdba
    Step 3: Install Apex.
    +@apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/+
Step 4: Reconnect Oracle Database XE.
Step 5: Assign/Set images PATH for APEX in APEX_HOME folder where we have unzipped APEX i.e. c:\oraclexe.
    [email protected] APEX_HOME+
    Step 6: Assign/Set administrator credentials for/to APEX.
    [email protected] your_password+
Step 7: Restart Oracle Database XE.
Step 8: Apex configuration completed. Availability will be as follows:
    Apex availability: http://localhost:8080/apex
    Apex Administrator: http://localhost:8080/apex/apex_admin
Follow these steps and let me know if this works for you or not.
    Regards,
    Naveed.

  • Issue in Upgrading Oracle APEX 2.1 to 3.1

    Hi,
I have recently installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle Database XE) which includes Oracle Application Express (Oracle APEX) release 2.1
I have upgraded from Oracle APEX 2.1 to 3.1 by following instructions in http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.1_and_xe.html
Following is the sequence of steps I followed
    1. @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
    2. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
    3. @APEX_HOME/apex/apxxepwd.sql password
Now Oracle Database express home page changes to
    http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/f?p=4550:1:723721796272276
All gif logos are missing and font appears differently. More importantly nothing happens after entering workspace/username/password and clicking login button. I am using internet exlorer 7 and it says "Error on Page" on the bottom status bar.
Please let me know if any one encounterd similar issue and if you were able to fix the issue.
    Thanks for your help
    RSNAIK

    Hello,
For all of you who have the same problem that we had.
After two installs and desinstall, I have finally found what to do.
You must stop the OracleXETNSListener service when upgrading Oracle Database 10g Express Edition.
Here the steps to follow assuming that you have installed Oracle Database 10g Express Edition into C:\oraclexe
and unzipped apex_3.1.2 into C:\apex on a Windows XP System :
    1. On Windows XP, Startup Menu, go to the Configuration panel, open Administration Tools, open Services, then you will click on the OracleXETNSListener service, stop it.
    2. On Windows XP, Startup Menu, select Execute, type cmd and press OK to open a DOS window.
    3. At the DOS prompt, type cd apex.
    4. At the DOS prompt, type sqlplus /nolog
    5. At the SQL prompt, type connect SYS as SYSDBA
    6. Type the password of the user SYSTEM that you choose when installing Oracle XE.
    7. At the SQL prompt, type *@apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/* (may take 15 minutes or more)
    8. At the DOS prompt, be sure to be in the apex directory (C:\apex) then type sqlplus /nolog
    9. At the SQL prompt, type connect SYS as SYSDBA
    10. Type the password of the user SYSTEM that you choose when installing Oracle XE.
    11. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxchpwd*
    12. Choose a password for ADMIN, type it then press Enter
    13. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxldimg* C:\ (you will perhaps obtain a message like an error but the upgrade works fine)
    14. At the SQL prompt, type *@apxxepwd* password (where password is the ADMIN password choosen at step 12)
    15. At the SQL prompt, type quit
    16. At the DOS prompt, type exit
    17. Then go to the OracleXETNSListener service and start it.
To connect as ADMIN, type the url http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex/apex_admin
    username : ADMIN
    password : your admin password
You will be able to create workspaces (schemas) and users
Now you will be able to connect to APEX at http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex
workspace : your login name (workspace created in apex_admin)
username : your login name (user created in apex_admin)
password : your password (password defined for the user in apex_admin)
I hope that this steps will be clear for all of you.
Thank you to user10570446 who have provided a clear step through. So that I'd take the time to clarified my solution to my type of configuration.
I hope that RSNAIK has been able to make the upgrade to APEX 3.1.2.
    Good day to everyone

    suresh.m2015,
It's going to be impossible for anyone in this forum to help with your issue if you don't provide any more detail about your environment and Apex installation. However, from your post it looks like the Apex database objects are missing or invalid.
Did you follow the Apex installation guide step by step? For example, did you run apexins.sql?
It's important to follow the documentation. The script you are running to change the admin user password should not be run until after the Apex installation is complete.

  • Advice on setting up a HTTP server for APEX

    Hi Experts,
I'm very busy to setup an application in APEX, and we're about to deploy it on our production servers.
Database side is fine, but I got some questions about the HTTP server.
(I come from an engineering background, working with databases for a couple of years but the whole HTTP world is pretty new for me).
    - What is the best option for HTTP server?
I've been testing apex_listener stand-alone now, and under GlassFish server.
When we move to production, I'm looking at:
    - max 10 concurrent users
    - windows 2003 based webserver
    - APEX 4.1
    - oracle 10.2
    - After we installed APEX on the database server, do we have to keep the apex files available, or can I just remove it?
(I know I need the apex\images folder on the webserver).

    Hi JP,
    - What is the best option for HTTP server?
I've been testing apex_listener stand-alone now, and under GlassFish server. The standalone mode is intended to be used for development/testing purposes only. If you plan a productive deployment, use a "full-blown" JEE server. GlassFish is one option. If it's the one you'll want depends on your production scenario and your previous experiences with JEE servers. You'll get a full list of all officially supported JEE servers in the requirements section of the Installation Guide.
    - After we installed APEX on the database server, do we have to keep the apex files available, or can I just remove it?
(I know I need the apex\images folder on the webserver). You can simply remove the installation package, though you might want to keep a few files for maintenance/development tasks, e.g. the apxchpwd.sql in order to be reset the password for the APEX internal ADMIN, and the contents of apex\utilities if you ever have to reset the images prefix or want to use the java-based APEX export for command line/script based export of (multiple) APEX applications.

  • Error while installing APEX3.2

    Hi,
FYI, I do not know about database and APEX.
But I have to install APEX3.2 on my team linux server.
I got an error while installing APEX3.2.
The installation guide says as below.
Run apex_epg_config.sql passing the file system path to the base directory where the Oracle Application Express software was unzipped as shown in the following example:
          On UNIX and Linux:
@apex_epg_config /tmpUsing Putty, I moved to the folder where APEX3.2 is unzipped on the server and connected it sysdba.
From there I ran apex_epg_config.sql as below and got an error.
    I'm confused with /tmp.
If I am already in the current folder, should I again define the path? If yes, how it should be?
FYI, APEX3.2 is unzipped in "/home/oracle/apex" of the Linux box.
    Would appreciate your help.

    Hi,
APEX team successfully installed APEX3.2 on the linux box with the following steps.
    1. Dropped user APEX_030200 and flowxxxx user with cascade option
    2. ran the apex installation SQL
    3. ran the following post installation process from sql prompt to copy the images
    @apxldimg.sql /home/oracle
    4. ran the apxchpwd.sql to change the password of 'Admin' user.
It seems I skipped dropping flowxxxx user option.
