APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT

Hi All,
I am using Apex version 4.1 and Oracle DB 11g.
We are using Interactive reports on some pages and the following thing is taking the most time while loading.
-->IR binding: "APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT" value="100000"
Could you please let me know how do we update this query to get a better performance of the page. That is we can get the page load fast.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Shoaib

Hi Fac,
I updated the pagination Type to Row Ranges X to Y and made the Maximum Row Count to 100 & then null still no progress. The page is taking same time to load and this time it is giving the Reason as:
...Session State: Save ":P1_NAME" - saving same value: "VALUE"Why do you think this is the reason that page display is slow? That operation occurs on page submit, not page show.
We can't magically make your app faster. Experienced developers don't have secret inside information that enables them to make any code run fast. They know how to create properly designed data models, how to write queries that will extract data efficiently from these models, and how to use debug and performance tuning tools when queries don't perform efficiently. These tools are described in the links above and until you use them to provide more information about the problem (or reproduce it on apex.oracle.com) then it's not possible to fix anything. Post (at least) the complete debug trace.

    Ben, thanks for your advise.
    i found the "effects" of the problem, solve it, but didn´t find the problem exactly.
    The error is here:
    select c003 from apex_collections where c001 = v.NRSEQCONTARECEBERPAGAR and collection_name = 'MOVIMENTO'
    c001 is a varchar2 type and NRSEQCONTARECEBERPAGAR is numeric, it was implicitly converted to compare, but somehow, suddenly, it starts to give an error:
    ORA-01722: Invalid Number
    if I convert to_char(v.NRSEQCONTARECEBERPAGAR), there is no error anymore.
    thanks!

  • Need to Programmatically Set IRR Filter on Date Field Due to APEX 4.1 Bug

    There may be another work around but, here is the problem that we are encountering...
    We have a huge table that is partitioned on a DATE field and an IRR that reports on this table. By default, we want to show the most recent 3 days of data. There is a built-in filter for "is in the last 3 Days." Sounds Great! Unfortunately APEX generates the code using TIMESTAMP rather than DATE functions. As a result of this, the query does not perform partition pruning and, as a consequence, it is doing a full table scan which takes forever. Note the use of the "LOCALTIMESTAMP" function in the query that is generated by APEX for this filter:
    SELECT   "BUSINESS_DATE",
             COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt
      FROM   (SELECT   *
                FROM   (SELECT   *
                          FROM   position_delta_his p) r
               WHERE   ("BUSINESS_DATE" BETWEEN *LOCALTIMESTAMP*
                                                - NUMTOYMINTERVAL (:APXWS_EXPR_1,
                                                                   'year')
                                            AND  *LOCALTIMESTAMP*)) r
    WHERE   ROWNUM <= TO_NUMBER (:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)If, instead, APEX used the SYSDATE function, as the underlying column is a DATE, this returns instantly, after partition pruning.
    SELECT   "BUSINESS_DATE",
             COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt
      FROM   (SELECT   *
                FROM   (SELECT   *
                          FROM   position_delta_his p) r
               WHERE   ("BUSINESS_DATE" BETWEEN *SYSDATE*
                                                - NUMTOYMINTERVAL (:APXWS_EXPR_1,
                                                                   'year')
                                            AND  *SYSDATE*)) r
    WHERE   ROWNUM <= TO_NUMBER (:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    The bug is that APEX should base the underlying function on the data type of the filtered column.
    As a work around, if we create a filter where BUSINESS_DATE >= '4/13/2012' (three business days ago), again, this returns instantaneously. The issue is that we can only set this filter by using the APEX GUI. We need to be able to:
    1. Determine the date for 3 business days ago
    2. Set this as the default filter.
    I tried creating a BEFORE HEADER PL/SQL page process but, it does not appear to be having any effect. Here is that code:
    DECLARE
        ldt_Filter DATE;
        CURSOR lcsr_GetMaxBusinessDate IS
            SELECT Max(BUSINESS_DATE)
            FROM POSITION_DELTA_HIS;
        DAYS_AGO CONSTANT NUMBER := 3;
    BEGIN
        APEX_UTIL.IR_CLEAR( :APP_PAGE_ID );
        OPEN lcsr_GetMaxBusinessDate;
        FETCH lcsr_GetMaxBusinessDate INTO ldt_Filter;
        CLOSE lcsr_GetMaxBusinessDate;
        ldt_Filter := ( Trunc( ldt_Filter ) - 3 );
        APEX_UTIL.IR_FILTER( p_page_id       => :APP_PAGE_ID,
                             p_report_column => 'BUSINESS_DATE',
                             p_operator_abbr =>'GTE',
                             p_filter_value  => TO_CHAR( ldt_Filter, 'YYYYMMDDHH24MISS' ) );
    END;Can anyone tell me:
    1. How to set this filter programmatically (also needs to be displayed on the page so the user can see the current filter...as if it were created via the GUI) ***OR***
    2. Some other work around for this issue..
    Thanks,
    -Joe

    Actually, now that I look further, I don't think it is going to work to simply set the filter programmatically. The end user can still click the column heading where they are only given the choice of the LOCALTIMESTAMP based filters. If they pick one, the page is going to be out to lunch for them.
    We really need some other fix. We really need a way to actually address the underlying issue.

  • IR Report found 1 million record with blob files performance is too slow!

    we are using
    oracle apex 4.2.x
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    mod_plsql with Apache
    Hardware: HP proliant ML350P
    OS: WINDOWS 2008 R2
    customized content management system developed in apex.when open the IR report have 1 ml rows found and each rows have blob(<5MB as pdf/tiff/bmp/jpg) it will be raising rows in future! but the searching performance is very slow!
    how can increasing the performance?
    how can showing progressing status to user while searching progress going on IR report itself?
    Thanx,
    Ram

    It's impossible to make definitive recommendations on performance improvement based on the limited information provided (in particular the absence of APEX debug traces and SQL execution plans), and lacking knowledge of the application  requirements and access to real data.
    As noted above, this is mainly a matter of data model and application design rather than a problem with APEX.
    Based on what has been made available on apex.oracle.com, taking action on the following points may improve performance.
    I have concerns about the data model. The multiple DMS_TOPMGT_MASTER.NWM_DOC_LVL_0x_COD_NUM columns are indications of incomplete normalization, and the use of the DMS_TOPMGT_DETAILS table hints at an EAV model. Look at normalizing the model so that the WM_DOC_LVL_0x_COD_NUM relationship data can be retrieved using a single join rather than multiple scalar subqueries. Store 1:1 document attributes as column values in DMS_TOPMGT_MASTER rather than rows in DMS_TOPMGT_DETAILS.
    There are no statistics on any of the application tables. Make sure statistics are gathered and kept up to date to enable the optimizer to determine correct execution plans.
    There are no indexes on any of the FK columns or search columns. Create indexes on FK columns to improve join performance, and on searched columns to improve search performance.
    More than 50% of the columns in the report query are hidden and not apparently used anywhere in the report. Why is this? A number of these columns are retrieved using scalar subqueries, which will adversely impact performance in a query processing 1 million+ rows. Remove any unnecessary columns from the report query.
    A number of functions are applied to columns in the report query. These will incur processing time for the functions themselves and context switching overhead in the case of the non-kernel dbms_lob.get_length calls. Remove these function calls from the query and replace them with alternative processing that will not impact query performance, particularly the use of APEX column attributes that will only apply transformations to values that are actually displayed, rather than to all rows processed in the query.
    Remove to_char calls from date columns and format them using date format masks in column attributes.
    Remove decode/case switches. Replace this logic using Display as Text (based on LOV, escape special characters) display types based on appropriate LOVs.
    Remove the dbms_lob.get_length calls. Instead add a file length column to the table, compute the file size when files are added/modified using your application or a trigger, and use this as the BLOB column in the query.
    Searching using the Search Field text box in the APEX interactive report Search Bar generates query like:
    select
    from
      (select
      from
        (...your report query...)
      ) r
      where ((instr(upper("NWM_DOC_REF_NO"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_DESC"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("SECTION_NAME"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("CODE_TYPE"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("REF_NUMBER_INDEX"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("DATE_INDEX"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("SUBJECT_INDEX"), upper(:apxws_search_string_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_SERIEL"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_DESCRIPTION"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_STATUS"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("MIME_TYPE"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0
      or instr(upper("NWM_DOC_FILE_BINARY"), upper(:APXWS_SEARCH_STRING_1)) > 0 ))
      ) r
    where
      rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    This will clearly never make use of any available indexes on your table. If you only want users to be able to search using values from 3 columns then remove the Search Field from the Search Bar and only allow users to create explicit filters on those columns. It may then be possible for the optimizer to push the resulting simple predicates down into the inlined report query to make use of indexes on the searched column.
    I have created a copy of your search page on page 33 of your app and created an After Regions page process that will create Debug entries containing the complete IR query and bind variables used so they can be extracted for easier performance analysis and tuning outside of APEX. You can copy this to your local app and modify the page and region ID parameters as required.

  • Get condition from interactive report

    Hi all!
    I have an interactive report.
    After the user has set some filter conditions I would like to write the ID's of the selected datasets into a table.
    This should take place in an "after-submit-process" in pl/sql.
    Something like:
    INSERT INTO #OWNER#.log_table (OBJT_ID) VALUES (SELECT ID FORM #OWNER#.source_table WHERE
    ":APEX_REPORT_CONDITION");
    My question:
    Is there an apex-object like ":APEX_REPORT_CONDITION"?
    Thanks for your help!
    Kai

    Hi Jari,
    thank you for your reply. But I need s.th. different:
    If I load my report-page and display "Debug" the SQL behind the report looks like:
    select
    null as apxws_row_pk,
    +"ID",+
    +"NUMBER",+
    +"TITLE",+
    +"ENTRY_DATE",+
    +"PRIOPRITY",+
    +"PROBABILITY",+
    count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select
    r.ID,
    r.NUMBER,
    r.TITLE,
    r.RPRI_NAME,
    r.ENTRY_DATE,
    r.PRIORITY,
    r.PROBABILITY
    from #OWNER#.MY_TABLE r
    where r.usr_name = :APP_USER
    +) r+
    where ("PROBABILITY" = :APXWS_EXPR_1*
    and "PRIORITY" = :APXWS_EXPR_2)*
    +) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)+
    +0.44: binding: ":APP_USER"="APP_USER" value="USER"+
    +0.44: IR binding: ":APXWS_EXPR_1"="APXWS_EXPR_1" value="(10-50%)"+
    +0.44: IR binding: ":APXWS_EXPR_2"="APXWS_EXPR_2" value="Hoch"+
    +0.44: IR binding: ":APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT"="APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT" value="10000"+
    As we can see, apex put an own select-statement around the original statement.
    What I need is the part in bold letters and the APXWS_EXPR_x-values. How can I get it?
    Has anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance!
    Kai

  • Interactive Report - Compute columns

    Hi,
    Interactive report query is storing in a apex view - apex_application_page_ir.
    Like, if compute columns added in runtime, APEX is making a new query with compute columns. I want to know in which APEX view is having this query:
    I created a Interactive report (APEX 3.2.0) for the following query:
    select
    "EMPNO",
    "ENAME",
    "JOB",
    "MGR",
    "HIREDATE",
    "SAL",
    "COMM",
    "DEPTNO"
    from "EMP"
    In the run time, I added a compute column , now the query is as follows:
    select
    ROWID as apxws_row_pk,
    "EMPNO",
    "ENAME",
    "JOB",
    "MGR",
    "HIREDATE",
    "SAL",
    "COMM",
    "DEPTNO",
    "SAL" *10/100 "APXWS_CC_001",
    count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select * from (
    select
    "EMPNO",
    "ENAME",
    "JOB",
    "MGR",
    "HIREDATE",
    "SAL",
    "COMM",
    "DEPTNO"
    from "EMP"
    ) r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    order by ROWID

    it is not the sql query its all about the report_columns in apex_application_page_ir

  • Problem while working with shuttle lists in APEX 3.2

    Hi all,
    My requirement is to populate a table whose SQL DDL is:
    CREATE TABLE "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL"
    (     "PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION" VARCHAR2(100) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         "MODULE_CODE" VARCHAR2(100) NOT NULL ENABLE,
         CONSTRAINT "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_R_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION", "MODULE_CODE") ENABLE
    ALTER TABLE "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL" ADD CONSTRAINT "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_R_FK1" FOREIGN KEY ("MODULE_CODE")
         REFERENCES "C_BIA_MODULE" ("MODULE_CODE") ENABLE;
    ALTER TABLE "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL" ADD CONSTRAINT "C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_R_FK2" FOREIGN KEY ("PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION")
         REFERENCES "C_PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION" ("PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION") ENABLE;
    Now in the CREATE form of C_BIA_MODULE, I have added a region and an item, of "Shuttle list type" for PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION. For the button CREATE, I have prepared the PL/SQL as:
    DECLARE
    prodlinever_selected APEX_APPLICATION_GLOBAL.VC_ARR2;
    BEGIN
         prodlinever_selected := APEX_UTIL.STRING_TO_TABLE(:P4_PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION);
         FOR i IN 1..prodlinever_selected.count
         LOOP
              INSERT INTO C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL (MODULE_CODE, PRODUCT_LINE_VERSION)
                   VALUES (:P4_MODULE_CODE, prodlinever_selected(i));
         END LOOP;
    return true;
    END;
    The question is where to use this PL/SQL? The "Conditions" column under "Edit Page Buttons" SHOULD not have this. Also, the "database action" options are not sufficient to populate by selections in a table other(C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL) than the current table page (C_BIA_MODULE) . Any other approach? Please help. Insufficient info given in user guide.

    Can you please tell me what is wwv_flow.debug ???
    Also, now when this is done, I want to come to my second doubt i.e.
    when I click EDIT on the C_BIA_MODULE report, I would like to show my right side of shuttle being populated from the associated PRODUCT LINE VERSIONS (info present in C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL), how can I do that, I have tried writing a process for fetching the rows under Page Rendering section, but it didn't work. As C_BIA_MOD_PROD_LINE_VER_REL has two columns MODULE_CODE, PLV_CODE both Foreign keys, so combination of them is a PK here, so while creating a process, I input these two columns in primary and secondary key column values. On the right side of shuttle, it shows me the values I associated last time on this page (so have to delete this cache element also)
    Thanks Varad

  • Column in apex_application_page_ir_rpt.report_columns not updated. Defect?

    Hi everyone,
    I discovered the following:
    I created an IR in my application. First I define the following query for the IR:
    SELECT *
    FROM apex_application_page_ir_rpt
    WHERE application_id = 22333
    AND page_id = 2
    That works fine.
    Then, I change my region source to exclude just one column (the last one: last_updated_by):
    SELECT WORKSPACE,WORKSPACE_DISPLAY_NAME,APPLICATION_ID,APPLICATION_NAME,PAGE_ID,INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID,REPORT_ID,APPLICATION_USER,REPORT_NAME,REPORT_ALIAS,SESSION_ID,BASE_REPORT_ID,REPORT_DESCRIPTION,DISPLAY_SEQUENCE,REPORT_VIEW_MODE,STATUS,CATEGORY_ID,REPORT_TYPE,REPORT_LINK_EXAMPLE,DISPLAY_ROWS,REPORT_COLUMNS,SORT_COLUMN_1,SORT_DIRECTION_1,SORT_COLUMN_2,SORT_DIRECTION_2,SORT_COLUMN_3,SORT_DIRECTION_3,SORT_COLUMN_4,SORT_DIRECTION_4,SORT_COLUMN_5,SORT_DIRECTION_5,SORT_COLUMN_6,SORT_DIRECTION_6,BREAK_ON,BREAK_ENABLED_ON,SUM_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,AVG_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MAX_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MIN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MEDIAN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,COUNT_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,COUNT_DISTNT_COL_ON_BREAK,FLASHBACK_MINUTES,FLASHBACK_ENABLED,CHART_TYPE,CHART_LABEL_COLUMN,CHART_LABEL_TITLE,CHART_VALUE_COLUMN,CHART_AGGREGATE,CHART_VALUE_TITLE,CHART_SORT_ORDER,CREATED_ON,CREATED_BY,LAST_UPDATED_ON
    FROM apex_application_page_ir_rpt
    WHERE application_id = 22333
    AND page_id = 2
    However, in the apex datadictionary view "apex_application_page_ir_rpt", in the column "report_columns" it still shows the column "last_updated_by".
    We run APEX 4.1 on production, but I see on my OTN apex application the same problem occurs. As you can see here:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=22333:2
    Can anybody tell me if this is a known defect?
    The only solution is to completely remove the region and define it again. But this is something we do not want to do, because we end up with all new report id's.
    Edit: when I use APEX_IR.GET_REPORT to generate the SQL on 4.2, the column is not selected:
    select "WORKSPACE", "WORKSPACE_DISPLAY_NAME", "APPLICATION_ID", "APPLICATION_NAME", "PAGE_ID", "INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID", "REPORT_ID", "APPLICATION_USER", "REPORT_NAME", "REPORT_ALIAS", "SESSION_ID", "BASE_REPORT_ID", "REPORT_DESCRIPTION", "DISPLAY_SEQUENCE", "REPORT_VIEW_MODE", "STATUS", "CATEGORY_ID", "REPORT_TYPE", "REPORT_LINK_EXAMPLE", "DISPLAY_ROWS", "REPORT_COLUMNS", "SORT_COLUMN_1", "SORT_DIRECTION_1", "SORT_COLUMN_2", "SORT_DIRECTION_2", "SORT_COLUMN_3", "SORT_DIRECTION_3", "SORT_COLUMN_4", "SORT_DIRECTION_4", "SORT_COLUMN_5", "SORT_DIRECTION_5", "SORT_COLUMN_6", "SORT_DIRECTION_6", "BREAK_ON", "BREAK_ENABLED_ON", "SUM_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "AVG_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "MAX_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "MIN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "MEDIAN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "COUNT_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK", "COUNT_DISTNT_COL_ON_BREAK", "FLASHBACK_MINUTES", "FLASHBACK_ENABLED", "CHART_TYPE", "CHART_LABEL_COLUMN", "CHART_LABEL_TITLE", "CHART_VALUE_COLUMN", "CHART_AGGREGATE", "CHART_VALUE_TITLE", "CHART_SORT_ORDER", "CREATED_ON", "CREATED_BY", "LAST_UPDATED_ON" from ( select * from ( SELECT WORKSPACE,WORKSPACE_DISPLAY_NAME,APPLICATION_ID,APPLICATION_NAME,PAGE_ID,INTERACTIVE_REPORT_ID,REPORT_ID,APPLICATION_USER,REPORT_NAME,REPORT_ALIAS,SESSION_ID,BASE_REPORT_ID,REPORT_DESCRIPTION,DISPLAY_SEQUENCE,REPORT_VIEW_MODE,STATUS,CATEGORY_ID,REPORT_TYPE,REPORT_LINK_EXAMPLE,DISPLAY_ROWS,REPORT_COLUMNS,SORT_COLUMN_1,SORT_DIRECTION_1,SORT_COLUMN_2,SORT_DIRECTION_2,SORT_COLUMN_3,SORT_DIRECTION_3,SORT_COLUMN_4,SORT_DIRECTION_4,SORT_COLUMN_5,SORT_DIRECTION_5,SORT_COLUMN_6,SORT_DIRECTION_6,BREAK_ON,BREAK_ENABLED_ON,SUM_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,AVG_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MAX_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MIN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,MEDIAN_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,COUNT_COLUMNS_ON_BREAK,COUNT_DISTNT_COL_ON_BREAK,FLASHBACK_MINUTES,FLASHBACK_ENABLED,CHART_TYPE,CHART_LABEL_COLUMN,CHART_LABEL_TITLE,CHART_VALUE_COLUMN,CHART_AGGREGATE,CHART_VALUE_TITLE,CHART_SORT_ORDER,CREATED_ON,CREATED_BY,LAST_UPDATED_ON FROM apex_application_page_ir_rpt WHERE application_id = 22333 AND page_id = 2 ) r ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    So apperently it's not using the same data dictionary I use.

    I can reproduce this, in 4.1. Put a select in the source, run page, save primary default. Select on the view and see the columns for APXWS_DEFAULT (primary) and also your own session (which will just have copied the primary report settings). Now alter the sql to remove a column which was displayed in the report. Querying the view again shows the columns are still there. However, display is correct.
    I assume this is because in apex_application_page_ir_col the column is actually removed, and thus a column in the _rpt would not be able to retrieve metadata, which probably explains that everything still works alright.
    Saving the report again will alter the columns in the _rpt view only when you went through "Select columns" (just open it, hit apply, then save primary report). If you don't and you would add the column again to the source, the column will also be displayed again in the report, as though it never was gone.

  • How to reuse a value set in the filter into an LMD process

    Using apex 3.2, I'm wondering how to re-use the value currently set into the filter (interactive report) into a LMD process attached to a button created on the same page.
    The process on Submit - after validations and computations, I presume, should look like to the following statement, but in a dynamic way:
    begin
    insert into table2 select * from table1
    where study = 'ABCD';
    end;
    I tested the following clauses options, which none of them work:
    a) where study = :STUDY
    b) where study = :IR_STUDY
    setting the debbug to on, I could realize that the report was based on (apparently, APEX generates APXWS_EXPR_1 bind variable for the first parameter and APXWS_EXPR_2 if a second parameter is used into the filter, and so on...) :
    where ("STUDY" = :APXWS_EXPR_1)
    and then saw :
    0.28: IR binding: ":APXWS_EXPR_1"="APXWS_EXPR_1" value="ABCD"
    0.28: IR binding: ":APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT"="APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT" value="10000"
    of course, I thought that the clause 'where ("STUDY" = :APXWS_EXPR_1)' could work. Unfortunaltely, not.
    any king of support is welcome.
    Thanks a lot,
    Bruno

    but I don't know how to execute it from putty ? Can some one help me.Use the same command. Just make sure you are logged in as applmgr user and source the application env file before you run the command. Also, make sure you issue the command in a directory where applmgr has read/write privilege.

  • IR Problem with COUNT (*) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt

    Hi all,
    i have a query wich is ran under 2 seconds when ecexuted in SQL (TOAD),
    when i use this query in an interactive report then it takes minutes.
    When i reviewd the query which APEX is sending to the DB i noticed an additional select clause:
    SELECT columns,
    COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt
    FROM (
    SELECT *
    FROM ( query
    ) r
    ) r
    WHERE ROWNUM <= TO_NUMBER (:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    when i remove the COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt then the query is fast again.
    How can i change the IR so that the COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt doesn't appear annymore.
    I removed the pagination (- no pagination selected -)
    I put the query in a new IR report in a new page, the COUNT ( * ) OVER () AS apxws_row_cnt still appears.
    Any suggestions i can try ?
    Regards,
    Marco

    Hi all,

    I think your query returns many rows. Did you see all the rows in Toad in 2 secs?
    If the answer is NO then the query is not finished after 2 secs. It just showed you the first few rows.
    Almost every tool including apex does the same.
    However if you want to know how many rows are returned then there is no way around doing the whole select until the last row.
    Then the result can be shown.
    APEX or a developer might use something like the analytic function "count(*) over ()" to get this result already on the first row. The database still needs to fetch all the rows. Howeverthe result set is not transported over the network to the client, which might also save a lot of time compared to not doing it on the database level.

  • Interactive Report Returns Misleading Data Because of ROWNUM Limit

    Hi, We have been relying on widespread use of Interactive Reports for internal Business Intelligence in our company, and they have been very popular. However, a user found a data discrepancy when sorting a report because the ROWNUM limit of :APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT is applied before the user requested ORDER BY clause. We are running Apex version 3.2.0.00.27 on a 10.2.0.4 database.
    The IR query returns quotes from our custom quoting application, and the default number of rows is 100 (and is changeable by the user). The user wanted to see the most recent quotes, so he selected the "Creation Date" column header and simply applied a descending filter. The most recent quote returned was dated last week. However, if he applied an additional filter of "creation date in the last week", he did see today's date and mostly current quote rows.
    When I ran debug on his IR query, I can see that the ROWNUM limit is applied first, then the ORDER BY. This means that the database fetches the first x rows that match the supplied parameters, and then orders the result set. However, this is not what the user meant, he wanted the first rows of an ordered set.
    Here's the debug query output (with the middle removed because it's long):
    select
           "QUOTE_NUMBER",
           "CUSTOMER",
           "CUST_CONTACT",
           "QUOTE_STATUS",
           "TOTAL_PRICE",

    order by "CREATION_DATE" DESC,"QUOTE_NUMBER" DESCHowever, what the user wanted is to have the ORDER BY applied first, then the limit. I realize performance may suffer, but users are now alarmed that they cannot trust these reports. I'm tempted to log a SR with Oracle on this.
    Any thoughts on this? Is this fixed in 4.0?
    Thank you, Wolf Moritz

    Hi, thanks for the response. I did spend a bit of time on trying to trick the interactive report into reversing the rownum and order by clauses. But ultimately I didn't see how to do it. Whatever query I paste into the source of the report is then wrapped in a couple of containing select statements which first applies the rownum limit and then the order by clause (if the user selects any columns to sort by).
    So this query:
    select * from scott.empBecomes:
    select
           "EMPNO",
           "ENAME",
           "JOB",
           "MGR",
           "HIREDATE",
           "SAL",
           "COMM",
           "DEPTNO",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select * from scott.emp
    )  r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    pAnd a user applied sort becomes:
    select
           "EMPNO",
           "ENAME",
           "JOB",
           "MGR",
           "HIREDATE",
           "SAL",
           "COMM",
           "DEPTNO",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select * from scott.emp
    )  r
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)
    order by "DEPTNO" DESCIf I could somehow bind to some item for the order by string I might then be able to trick the report into ordering the result set first (which I know can't really be done unless using dynamic sql). Forcing an initial hard coded order by isn't practical on this particular report, although I do see why that might work in some circumstances.
    Side note on the oddly placed case statement: This interactive report has some page level "meta" parameter items, and that case statement was meant as a way to avoid an exists statement on a particularly large table if no value was submitted for P64_ITEM_ID. It's been a long time since we deployed the report, so it's probably worth testing some explain/autotrace plans on this case statement vs an exists statement in the predicate. But for now it works!
    Thanks, Wolf

  • Interactive Report - Save Default Filter not Saving

    In Apex 3.2 I have an Interactive report were a Filter I applied won't save to the report.
    I applied the Filter and saved it as the default report for all users, but when I leave the page and come back the filter its gone.
    The same application on different pages has interactive report with filters applied to the default report and they all work fine, it's just this one report that the filter won't stay.
    First time I've every had this issue.
    Any ideas?
    The filter is pretty simply, I have a column that has codes of D, E, G,... and I apply the filter for CODE != D.

    Hi,
    I've just been trying the "in the last" option and had no problems for any number that I entered. Are you just entering 1 into the box? What error do you get?
    I've loaded the page with Debug switched on, and get:
    select
           null as apxws_row_pk,
           "DATE_ID",
           "ATD_DATE",
           "CHECK",
           count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
    from (
    select  *  from (
    select
    apex_item.checkbox(1, DATE_ID) "CHECK",
    "DATE_ID",
    "ATD_DATE"
    from "#OWNER#"."ATD_DATES"
    )  r
    where ("ATD_DATE" between systimestamp - (1 * :APXWS_EXPR_1) and systimestamp)
    ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT):APXWS_EXPR_1 would contain the value 1 as that is what I've entered for the filter. My report's sql statement is just the innermost nested select statement, the rest has been added by the IR functionality and the filter.

  • Htmldb_application array reset based on interactive report filter

    Hello
    I was searching various forums on this topic and did not find usefull answer. I must be doing something wrong or just do not understand how come that others do not have this problem?? Anyway, here it is.
    I have interactive report where first column is checkbox. Using submit process , I perfrom inserts/ deletes in database based on checbox array (htmldb_application). Everything works well untill I do not use filter on one of the columns. Such action results in resizing the report ( so number of rows is re-ordered / changed ). I want to run the same submit process on resized list, but it is not possible, because the array points to different/non-existing rows. I would expect that the array gets "reseted" accrording to the new result list, but it does not??
    Example:
    I load the page with the report, where I have 10 records. Two of them, row 5 and 7, have in column X value '1'. If I leave the report as is, check checkbox on any line and run submit process, action is succesfull.
    Now I change the filter and I will display only rows where column X=1. Report now have 2 rows. I check checkbox on the first one, submit the process, but the arrays refers to row 5 ( the old resultset), which is not present in the report now ??
    Can I somehow achieve arrays reset based on the interacitve report filter applied? Or any other solution?
    Thanks in advance

    The query for the IR is constructed as below select "LINK", "UNLINK", "INST_CD", "CUSTOMER_CD", "DESCRIPTION", "COUNTRY_CD"
          , "Link Status", count(*) over () as apxws_row_cnt
          from (
          select *
          from (
          select
          htmldb_item.checkbox (1,rownum, DECODE( (select bind.bc_id from BND_BIGCUST_CUST bind where bind.inst_cd=big.inst_cd  and bind.customer_cd = big.customer_c and bind.bc_id = :P2_BC_ID )C , :P2_BC_ID,'DISABLED','UNCHECKED') ) Link,
          htmldb_item.checkbox (2,rownum, DECODE( (select bind.bc_id from BND_BIGCUST_CUST bind where bind.inst_cd=big.inst_cd and bind.customer_cd = big.customer_cd and bind.bc_id = :P2_BC_ID ),:P2_BC_ID,'UNCHECKED','DISABLED') ) Unlink,
          htmldb_item.display_and_save(3,inst_cd) inst_cd,
          htmldb_item.display_and_save(4,customer_cd) customer_cd,
          htmldb_item.display_and_save(5,description) description,
          htmldb_item.display_and_save(6,country_cd) country_cd, DECODE( (select bind.bc_idfrom BND_BIGCUST_CUST bind where bind.inst_cd=big.inst_cd and bind.customer_cd = big.customer_cd and bind.bc_id = :P2_BC_ID ) , :P2_BC_ID,'Allready Linked','Available') "Link Status"
          from REF_CUSTOMER_UNIQ big ) r ) r where rownum <= to_number(:APXWS_MAX_ROW_CNT)As you can see, the 'rownum' is gotten in the inner query. I suspect that when you apply a filter, the filter is applied to the outer query. Hence, the rownums will not be as you expect them to be. Instead of using the 'rownum' as the values for checkbox 1 and checkbox 2, I suggest you use a concatenation of
    inst_id and customer_cd. In the after submit process you can then just loop through the f01 and f02 arrays , split the concatenated values back into their inst_id and customer_cd components and perform the Insert or Delete.
