Arabic text rendering issue

<mx:Label htmlText="لانباسيبلا سي سيقفثقف يبلا يبسلسلثقف ثق ق فثقف ثق"  fontSize="20"/>
I placed the above label in my application. It is not rendering the same text as it is typed here. Why?
Is there a straight way to render without using Text Layout framework?
I am using flex 3, flash player 10.
Thanks,
Nith

I have discovered that it's not a problem in all applications.  OpenOffice works fine, as well as most KDE/Qt applications.  It seems as if GNOME/GTK applications are the only ones affected.

  • Text Rendering issue in Safari 4 for Windows

Note: I've failed to find a thread pertaining to this particular issue. If someone is aware of one, please excuse me and point this discussion in that direction.
I am experiencing a problem with a Windows instal of Safari 4 that seems not to manifest itself on any of my mac machines. On select sites text is rendered as a jumbled mess of overlapping characters. To simplify matters I have linked to a screenshot of the problem:

If anyone has any thoughts as to the cause of or solution to this problem I will be glad to hear from you.
    Thank you,

    HI,
    Try Safari maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

  • Fix for overlay text rendering issue

@Neil Enns - I have branched this into a new discussion from original thread: Re: Trouble with ipa size after changing assets
Having some issues with overlays that are set to "vector" for "Export format in PDF articles"
It seems as this setting doesn't really affect the output of the overlays? as a test we updated a few of our overlays to utilize this setting and after running them through DPS and loading up the resulting .ipa file the results remain pretty consistently pixelated.
As a note, we are using 2048x1536 source files, rendering a 1024x768 folio and viewing on a retina display. (all screencaps taken from retina displays)
This setup is described as providing an optimal balance between file size and image quality in the thread mentioned above.
Is there anything we could be doing that would prevent the "vector" setting from rendering properly?
Or is this perhaps just the best that type in an overlay will look with a 1024 folio on a retina screen?
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Neil Enns - Adobe / Bob Levine
Thank you both for the advice. There is a bit of strangeness though when importing the article. We had a couple of test folios we were using and on one of the folios the import article process would default to "automatic" format. When we forced the article format to be "PDF" all of a sudden our overlays were coming out nice and crisp!
    Huge thanks!!
I do have one final follow up about this though.
It seems that the "vector" format only applies to the second state of the overlay? For instance we have some buttons which have text objects in them inside our MSO. These buttons then trigger the second state of the object which now nicely appears as vector... but how come the buttons are still getting rasterized?
Is there any way to apply this same vector format to buttons? Or is this only an option for an MSO?
Just trying to understand how all this works!
Thanks again for all your help and advice.

  • Anyone seeing text rendering issue in Finder?

When scrolling through large list of files the text in Finder is getting jumbled. When selecting a different app - the text improves in finder - but the screen is still not painting entirely correct...

Apple are aware of this issue and I have been advised that it is being investigated. However if you go onto the AMD Radeon website it appears that the graphics card is not compatible with Mac. When trying to download any new drivers or purchase the same card every avenue you explore comes up with PC compatible.
I have requested a call back from apple support tomorrow and if anything materialises I will post the details,
I have paid £2500 for top range iMac and beginning to think this was a mistake!!

  • Font rendering issue in Windows 7 with Aero

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and using Firefox 19.0.2. Aero is enabled, but the ClearType font smoothing is turned off.
At completely random intervals, text is rendered like this in Firefox:
    http://i49.tinypic.com/vgshv4.png
Sometimes it can be fixed as simply as hovering the mouse pointer over the affected parts. Sometimes I have to mark the text to get it rendered correctly, and sometimes it can be fixed by scrolling the page.
It can happen on any sites with any encoding, regardless of the font size and color, but I noticed it's extremely rarely happens with Japanese text. It never affects the whole page, only random parts of the on-screen text, and sometimes the interface text as well. Also worth mentioning that it never happens when Aero is turned off.
Is this a Firefox bug, or is something wrong with my system? Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue, uninstalling windows update kb2670838 fixed it for me. See also:

  • Safari not rendering Arabic text correctly

I have Safari 1.0.3 running on Mac OS 10.2.8 and it will not render Arabic text correctly. Isolated letters appear at about half the correct size, which makes pages readable but only with considerable difficulty and annoyance.
I saw some solutions here that related to removing Microsoft fonts, but I removed all fonts from Home:Library:Fonts and quite and restarted Safari, and the problem persists. I also downloaded Firefox 2.0 and the same issue occurs - with the added feature that the tab titles on Firefox also display this anomaly, whereas tab titles on Safari render Arabic correctly.
And by the way, if this issue can be resolved, can safari and other apps be got to use a font other than the extremely ugly and hard-to-read default?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Thanks Tom. The problem though is not that letters
that are meant to be connected are coming out
isolated; letters that are meant to be isolated, e.g.
initial alif, waw, ra and final letters after alif,
waw ra, are displaying way too small.
    Sorry I misunderstood the problem.
Do you think it is worth trying your troubleshooting
tip no. 18? And do you have any idea what sort of
issue could be behind it that it would affect Firefox
    too?
Yes, you may as well try no. 18. That tip, which really has no logic to it, reflects the fact that voodoo is sometimes required to get Jaguar to display Arabic correctly in browsers. Panther was a tremendous improvement in that regard.

  • SSRS web based report viewer control rendering issues - text getting clipped chopped off

    Hi,
I am using web based SSRS report viewer control to display SSRS reports in browsers like Chrome, FF, IE, Safari etc. My issue is some text is getting chopped off (clipped) in all cells of some reports. I investigated on my end by analyzing generated HTML
and I could see a problem in the HTML that report viewer control is generating. But I am afraid to apply any HTML or Javascript hacks at the moment considering we have hundreds of reports.
You can see in above image how text got chopped off. The problem in HTML (given below) is the text has been wrapped in a div tag with a fixed height. If I remove the height and also padding on parent TD, the text appears properly.
    <td class="A23dfe7c5f99245f2a0db522a22a6035597c" style="HEIGHT:5.00mm;background-color:#d3d3d3;"><div style="HEIGHT:3.24mm;overflow:hidden;"><table lang="en-US" cellspacing="0"
    cellpadding="0" border="0" class="Pd9776e5f7eaf4df696265b8b49d1da39_1_r17"><tbody><tr><td class="A23dfe7c5f99245f2a0db522a22a6035597" style="word-wrap:break-word;white-space:pre-wrap;">MyType11</td></tr></tbody></table></div></td>
Please let me know if you have faced a similar scenario before.

    Hi Murtaza,
According to your description, when you display the report with Report Viewer control, the data within the text is cutoff.
Based on my research, the issue could cause by that Arial Unicode MS font hasn’t been installed on the server where Reporting Services run. Besides, when we use ReportViewer control to render report, we’d  better set
AsyncRendering="true" in the Report Viewer control. Also please run the IE with compatibility mode. For more information, please refer to similar threads below:

  • Staff? Text rendering incompatibility  Safari 7.06 and Muse 2014.1.1.6     Websafe fonts render issue

    Text rendering incompatibility
    Safari 7.06 and Muse 2014.1.1.6
Websafe fonts render poorly when on top of a
‘Browser Fill’  has ‘Image added’  and ‘scrolling’ check box left unchecked’

    Comparison Web safe fonts render
    Chrome = all good
    Firefox = all good
Safari running on ‘non-retina’ displays = bad
As mentioned these are websafe font / also occurs with self/hosted fonts
unfortunately client is viewing on Ipad that is non retina and uses Safari.
    Any work around?
    Thanks
    Milton

    Hi Zak
Thank you for your prompt response.
I have been reviewing this issue on a number of screens an Browsers – I realise the huge hassle of compatibility comments.
Below links and further explanation and screen shots
    Thanks again
    Milton
Web safe fonts (e.g. helvetica / arial) render poorly when:
Any ‘composition’ is set below the text and the 'composition' is set to ‘pin’
See first scroll page at www.edehorton.com
The top slideshow is 'pinned' and it is this action that creates the issue for text on the whole page.
It also occurs when text is on top of a ‘Browser Fill’  that has an ‘Image added’  and ‘scrolling’ check box left unchecked’
See first scroll page a www.edehorton.com/judaica.html
creates the issue for text on the whole page.
I can remedy these  situations by ‘unpinning' the 'compostion’ or placing the ‘pinned' 'composition' above the text
or in the second instance by turning the ‘scrolling’ radio check button in ‘Browser fill’  on.
    Screen snap shots below
Comparison 'Web safe font - Helvetica' plus 'Webfont' render
Chrome = all good / Firefox = all good /Safari running on ‘retina’ displays = all good Safari 5.06 on' non-retina' = all good
Safari 7.06 running on ‘non-retina’ displays = bad

  • Any1 is still having text or other color rendering issues on Win7/Vista FF, Safari, Opera or Chrome?

People have seen many different issues with blank Flash content
or wrong text colors since 10.1 using Windows Vista or Win7 32bit or 64bit FP plugin = still same issue.
No1 knows why but Disabling AERO THEME is the medicine to fix it or just run Internet Explorer
when you encounter bad behaviour on Firefox, Opera or Chrome which use same FlashPlayer.
Would be good if people would reply here or email to me [email address deleted by host]
so I could post here for tracking and contact purposes.
Because without knowing what GPU - Graphic card people are using and if Disabling Aero Theme helps or not?
Remember without enough INFO these wierd rendering issues can't never be fixed up!
One site that isn't rendering fonts fine using ATI V3750 workstation graphic card with latest drivers >
    http://www.hkadr.com/swf/broadcast_player122_stream.swf
This is proof that Flash fonts are rendered bad while on that site using AERO Theme > http://www.mediafire.com/?0tpsse0jt55tjvc

The easiest way to fix rendering issues is to disable Hardware Acceleration.

  • Webkit exploit: Arabic text issue

(Yes, I know about apple.com/feedback and I know, that Apple doesn't read discussions on this forum)
    I can't take this anymore.
So, let me tell you: there is an exploit in WebKit (Safari, Chrome), that can crash the browser or the page when trying to render some Arabic text. And this exploit is old — people have been begging Apple to fix this for over 6 months (alternative exploit allows local file with Arabic text to open a backdoor to user passwords). I think it's time, Apple. Right here, right now. Or at least this week.
I hope I notified everyone, and people, who experienced the same problem, will understand this and keep asking apple to fix this at last.

You are bumping after 82 minutes? Apple is not here. If you have a bug report, file it using the Apple bug reporter.

  • Arabic Text - Font Substitution Issue - Urgent.

    Hi,
We are using After Effects to create some Arabic Subtitles, we are using the Arabic Text script to make the arabic text to be written correctly (all joined up, flowing from Right to Left).
We need to use a client's custom Arabic font on the project, and this font is being used correctly on most of the text, but on odd characters After Effects defaults the characters back to the "Adobe Arabic" font. If we try and select these characters and change the font back to the one we need to, as soon as I click enter, it substitutes the font back to Adobe Arabic.
Is there a way to stop this?
    Thanks,

Think I've narrowed down the problem a bit, After Effects can read the characters correctly, e.g:
If I copy and paste the text in to after effects, the characters appear, but the flow of text is incorrect, and the arabic characters are not connected how they should be.
To amend this, if i put the text through the Arabic Text script V2.0 from AE Scripts, the flow of text is corrected, but some of the characters are then substituted back to Adobe Arabic, and it is impossible to change them back to the font we need.
I think the problem lies within the arabic text script!

please guys I need an answer. To get answers about using iText I use "iText In Action, 2nd edition" by the prime author of iText - Bruno Lowagie.Classic way to make money - make the API free and sell the documentation. Also an honorable way to make money IMO.I was using iText before 2004 when the first edition of the book came out ( 4 years or so after the library was first introduced) and it was hard work. PDF is a very complex document format and just using the Javadoc does not really get you anywhere. There are many 'gotchas' in iText and most of the iText tutorials cover only the very basics and pretty much none of the 'gochas'. The book starts off with very simple examples that could be constructed from the Javadoc but then it does move on to the more complex issues. Worth every penny.

  • Get a Arabic text bold in a basic RichText control

Maybe a very silly question, but I'm searching for a solution many days now and maybe someone had the same issue.
I have a basic Arabic text and put in a Flex RichText control with this line:
public override function set text( value:String ):void
         this.textFlow = TextFlowUtil.importFromString( value );
         // this.textFlow = TextConverter.importToFlow( value, TextConverter.TEXT_FIELD_HTML_FORMAT );
In a CSS file I tell the application to make all the text bold for this RichText control. And the strange thing that happens is that a "normal" english text appears bold and the arabic text stays the same as if the font-weight was set to normal.
    Can someone please help me?

    Nothing to do with CSS.
On windows I have AdobeArabic-Regular and AdobeArabic-Bold installed.
This markup gives me bold text.  I use the textLine.dump() method to see what font player has actually chosen.
    <span fontFamily="Adobe Arabic" fontWeight="bold">
If I remove AdobeArabic-Bold and render the same markup FlashPlayer does a fallback looking for some appropriate bold font that has Arabic.  If it can't find it bold text is not rendered.
    Hope that helps,
    Richard
