Arch-sensor , a monitoring kde plasmoid for archers

A kde4 plasmoid for system monitoring, using the superkaramba API
Requirements:
-superkaramba
-droid-sans fonts
-lm_sensors
-mesa-demos
-nvidia-settings
-wget
As our systems are different, some tinkering of the code could be required for optimal results.
Just unzip the file, modify arch-sensor.theme and repack with zip -r.
Code and API are very simple and straightforward, so it won't be a problem.
GPU info are coded for nvidia cards, using info from nvidia-settings from the nvidia binary blob.
I don't know if ATI or intel provide a tool like that, but eventually tweaking is easy.
Install with plasmapkg -i , remove with plasmapkg -r
enjoy , grab it Here!

Nice in theory, but if people are building things from source they should know they need the development libraries.  More often than not, I would like those people to wait for someone knowledgeable to create a package for that distro for them.
But if you want to continue on this, I would say take a look at interfacing with PackageKit since the cross distro package work is already done.  All you would need is the list for each one to look for.

  • Using Visio 37" HDTV  (not monitor) as Display for mini

    I really WANT to buy my FIRST Apple mini as my only computer! Will it work with my Visio 37" HDTV? I want to buy a cable that has the HDMI connector at one end for the TV and DVI on the other for the mini. Can it be that simple???
    Thanks for input. I want to go to the Apple Store Friday!!!

    I was in the same "boat" about wanting to use an LCD for a monitor. But, due to the higher resolution of a dedicated computer LCD vs a TV/LCD I opted for a Dell 24" Ultra Sharp W2408WFP to get the maximum capabilities out of my Mac Mini. Yes, the monitor is expensive, for me about $599 plus $45 shipping but included a 3 year warranty. However, unlike a traditional TV/LCD's resolution of approx. 1366 x 768 you will get the full 1900 x 1200 with the Dell 24" monitor (as with most other quality 22"-24" computer monitor's.
    Now that is important if you are going to use this display hooked up to your Mac as a desktop, i.e. web browsing, various app's etc. The higher resolution will make the fonts and fine details of what you are looking at much clearer than what you are looking at with a TV/LCD. PLus, with a 32" LCD you will need to sit that bad boy a good 3 to 4 feet from your face in order to focus properly. However, if like many users of Mini's you will use it mainly as an entertainment hub for movies and itunes than I believe the TV/LCD such as the 32" Vizio (I have one in fact) would make for a better investment.

  • Hi there, can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac Mini? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? Thanks in advance, Grtz T.

    Hi there,
    Can anyone tell me how to make make Garageband ignore HDMI as an audio output-device on a 2013 Mac mini i7 using an Apogee jam as an input for bass and a Behringer USB DAC with RCA audio output? Now it keeps on prompting me: Do you want want to use the HDMI device (monitor without audio) for audio output? I'm also suffering massive audio lag issues with the Apogee jam after waking the mini from sleepmode, wich pretty much renders it useless.
    Thanks in advance,
    Grtz T.

    I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
    With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
    The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
    You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
    The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.

    Because the XP597A3 (actually any of these product numbers; XP597AA, XP597A3, XP597AS) is a HP 2011x 20" LCD/LED widescreen monitor. The OP was looking for an A/C adapter power supply for the HP 2711x 27" LCD/LED widescreen monitor, which is product # XP600AA or XP600A3. The adapter power supply I linked to, is the correct part for the 2711x monitor.... that is why not those other parts.

  • "No sensor values have been generated for this instance." BPELConsole msg.

    I've reworked the GoogleFlowWithSensors demo to use BAM sensors as a prelude to incorporating BAM into a a real BPEL process we have that's much more complicated. I've moved the schema in the GoogleFlowWithSensors.wsdl file to an imported XSD file as directed in literature. I created in BAM Architect a DataObject called ProcessExecutionTimestamp with 5 columns instanceId, receiveInput_TS, invokePartnerLink_TS, receivePartnerLink_TS, and callbackClient_TS. I was able to successfully tie the BAM sensors to this dataobject.
    Everytime I test the BPEL process in BPELConsole, I get the results back but I get nothing but a "No sensor values have been generated for this instance." message in the BPELConsole "sensors" pane. I have found nothing in any BAM or BPEL log that indicates what could be going on.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    BPEL Console does not show data published on BAM Sensors, to see on BPEL console you have use database sensor type.
    Bpel log (default.log) shows any errors encountered on sending data to BAM.
    Thanks

  • Need videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation -for PowerMac G5

    I'm looking for a videocard that supports dual monitors and Rotation for PowerMac G5. I've got two Dell 2407WFP monitors rotated to 90 -I've been running an ATI Radeon X1900 256 pcie16 but apparently it is over heating -not even exactly sure if that indeed is the case but all the symptoms I've looked up online point to this problem. Anyways -just looking for a card that will do the job -I don't run games -this is just for work machine doing photoshop and related programs. Thanks for any help anyone may have!

    Hi-
    A flashed card is a WinPC card that has been modified to accept a Mac ROM to provide for Mac compatibility.
    Occasionally, soldering and other physical modifications are required.
    Without this modification, a WinPC graphics card cannot be used in a MAc.
    Without this modification, Mac users are limited to only a handful of used, OEM options.
    The Geforce 7800 GS is the only 7800 card that may be used in a G5 (or G4).
    The card must have been or be converted to Mac compatibility.
    For dual monitors (DVI) the best performance choices are the Geforce 6800 Ultra (flashed or OEM), a rare, but occasionally available Geforce 6800 GT (flashed), an OEM Radeon X800XT (use ADC/DVI adapter on ADC port) a rare and expensive Radeon FireGL X800 (flashed).
    These are the only performance oriented cards to offer dual digital display support.
    For less demanding graphics work, an OEM Radeon 9650 offers dual digital output.
    Other OEM graphics cards will have either DVI/DVI or ADC/DVI.
    All OEM graphics cards are only available as used.
    All cards are easiest to obtain on eBay.
    Prices vary, but deals can be found.
    Expect to pay $150-$325 for any of the cards listed.
    Any card considered MUST be stated as Mac compatible, unless you are willing to research and learn how to perform the necessary modifications.

  • Monitoring Bandwidth usage for individual hosted sites on osx server?

    Does anyone know of a good way to monitor bandwidth consumption for individual websites hosted on osx server?

    Part of this answer depends on server configuration details that you haven't provided.
    Are you looking for 'bandwidth' as in total bytes transferred for any given site? or are you looking for a megabits-per-second network throughput calculation?
    Are your various sites logging to separate log files? or a single, unified log file?
    If you want a total bytes transferred calculation, then that data is stored in the standard log files, so a simple parser that adds up the response sizes would suffice - it will tell you that x number of bytes/megabytes were transferred.
    A bandwitch utilization graph (e.g. mbps) is a little trickier, though.
    Are your sites running on the same port, using name-based virtual hosting to separate the traffic, or are they running on different ports?
    If different ports then you may be able to implement some kind of network monitoring, but if they're all running on the same port (e.g. 80) then that doesn't work - you're down to Apache logging.
    The standard Apache logs, though, don't include enough data to calculate a bandwidth graph. It does include timestamps of requests, and the total bytes in the reply, but that's not enough - the timestamp is only accurate to the second, and there's no indication of duration... for example, a 1mb web page served in 1 second equates to 8mbps, but that same file transferred in 30 seconds is only about 273kbps.
    Since the transfer time is required to calculate the bandwidth utilization for the site, you'll need to amend your logging to include the transfer size. You'll need to enable mod_logio and add the %O (output bytes) and %T (request time) variables to your log format. Only then can you calculate the bits-per-second throughput of your site.

  • Why not? kdemod + arch kde, same for arch live +chakra

    Sorry for bug you people, but now that the waters are calm, i wanna ask a simple cuestion, why 2 proyects for the same task, arch kde and kdemod, same for arch live and chakra.
    as user of both i think if all join the efforts, arch could be even better and erase the problems  spesific for kde  or kdemod, i now... linux is choice, and diferent aproachs(now are very close i think). but, ARCH Linux is one of the finnest distros and unified it, could make ready for be a popular wide users target distro.
    linux is choice, but community is common efforts for a greater resoults.

    drelyn86 wrote:Maybe the Chakra project should use Arch KDE rather than KDEmod. Then they could spend less time splitting packages, and more time fixing that god-awful Shaman application. I understand their liveCD is still in Alpha testing.
    Agree! Altho arch should have used kdemod as its kde in the first place

  • After copying Arch to new SSD, KDE permission problems.

    Following instructions in this thread:https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=596228
    1. Boot a Ubuntu livecd
    2. mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/old
    3. mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/new
    4. cp -rav /mnt/old/* /mnt/new
    5. umount /mnt/old
    6. mount -o bind /dev /mnt/new/dev
    7. mount -t proc none /mnt/new/proc
    8. chroot /mnt/new /bin/bash
    ---1. grub-install /dev/sdb
    ---2. exit
    9. Exit and reboot
    And modifying /etc/fstab
    My Archlinux boots fine but some problems occur:
    1. 20s delay for no reason after KDM login.
    2. No sleep option in leave menu or power management settings.
    3. networkmanager is running fine but kde plasma widget for it shows networkmanager is not running and asks me to start it.
    4. The battery monitor of KDE seems to lose access to power management and battery.
    5. cannot change settings in kde systemsettings--login screen.
    I guess it is caused by some file copying permission problems or symbolic link problems. So how can I figure it out?

    that's why you should use rsync -a and not cp.

  • Wifi monitor - KDE

    If I remember correctly, when I first installed arch linux on my Lenovo T61, there was a wifi monitor widget in the system tray (of KDE).  In any case, there is none now.  (I may have accidentally hit 'Exit' or 'Close' in its menu, I don't know.)    I haven't been able to find such a widget -- installed or not.  i'm probably missing something obvious, but I need a pointer.  Thanks.

    You can also have a simple Conky WiFi monitor on your desktop such as
    ${exec lspci | grep "Network controller" | cut -c29-51}${alignr}
    signal strength ${wireless_link_qual wlp2s0}%${alignr}
    ${wireless_ap wlp2s0}${alignr} ${addr wlp2s0}
    up ${upspeed wlp2s0}${alignr}down ${downspeed wlp2s0}
    ${upspeedgraph wlp2s0 32, 100}${alignr}${downspeedgraph wlp2s0 32, 100}
    total ${totalup wlp2s0}${alignr}total ${totaldown wlp2s0}

  • Search KDE Plasmoid / Problem with installation

    Hi Community,
    I've just changed from Kubuntu to Archlinux.
    I am using KDE4 - not KDE4mod
    Now I am missing a plasmoid which was standard in kubuntu: look on the left bottom right to the KDE-starter.
    http://www.linux-community.de/var/ezweb … dung-1.png
    Everytime I want to install plasmoids with a locale *.plasmoid file i get an error message like "The installation has failed."
    Also the function to install plasmoids with the plasmoidbrowser doesn't work.
    The button changes to state "installed" after the installation, but after closing it isn't in the list of installed plasmoids.
    If I look in the plasmoidbrowser for installing plasmoids again it has the status "not installed/install it" again.
    I hope someone could help me- thank you.
