Archiving Analysis
I am trying to analyze the data to be archived by my company. Say I have archiving object MM_MATBEL, how do I determine how many documents I have per year (or some period) and how much space each period is taking up?
Thanks,
-- Jackie
Hi Jackie,
For archiving analysis - best thing to do will be to select a small sample. start by archiving this sample and estimate average run time and any other functional issues that you might encounter.
then by doing a TAANA analysis, you must estimate the year wise split of the documents, because the ideal way to archive documents will be to categorize them yearwise.
also in the case of MM MATBEL, you might want to have a look at the plant wise split up.
Let me know ur email id.. will send a few docs
Thanks

Portfolio Analyses Organization
We are currently using Project Server 2010 and would like to know if there is a way to organize the various Portfolio nanlyses previously completed. For example, each planning cycly we run multiple analysis and would like to be able to group these
by planning cycle or even be able to archive analyses for prior cycles. Is there a way to do this?
Thank you -
lbrHi,
Unfortunately, there is no out-of-the-box feature to archive or group portfolio analysis scenarios. You cannot even backup and restore those scenarios. You cannot neither create view to filter out old scenarios.
Since the scenarios do not contain data but are more like a container, I'd suggest to export old scenarios in Excel or any other convenient format and simply delete them once they are obsolete.
Hope this helps,

SQL Query to identify duplicates
Hi All,
I want to identify and display some duplicate data from the database.
With duplicates I mean rows in a table that contain identical information in a combination of fields (Last Name, First Name, City).
Example:
ID1 ID2 Last Name First Name City Phone
1005 2010 Krieger Jeff San Ramon 9252997100
1012 2010 Krieger Jeff San Ramon 9252997100
1017 2010 Krieger Jeff San Ramon 9252997100
Now I want to select the IDs (ID1 and ID2) that identify each duplicate rows.
Therefore I want to create a query with a subquery inside, similar to this:
SELECT ID1 ID2 LastName FirstName
FROM Customers
INTO TABLE
WHERE (LastName FirstName City) IN
(SELECT LastName FirstName City
FROM Customers
GROUP BY LastName FirstName City
HAVING COUNT(*) > 1)
ORDER BY LastName FirstName.
How would be the syntax in ABAP, because I am not able to define more than one field after WHERE?
Any Ideas how to identify the duplicate data and return the ids?
Thanks for any help!Is this something you need to do via code or can you use an analysis tool? TAANA & TAANA_AV allow you to analyze distribution spreads by table fields (you can pick your table and the fields). It's primarily used for archiving analysis but it's helpfuul in other scenarios as well. It's not optimal for finding single record dupes but I thought I'd throw it out there.

How to archive Workload analysis data
Dear all my friends,
I need to check the workload data(who execute which t-code on when) in R/3 system.
as i know, there are only 3 months historical data is archived.
so, i want to copy workload data into Ztable for archived purpose.
currently, i only know table MONI, but i don't where the workload data is stored ?
please help to show me the table name.
thanks !Hi,
What do you mean be Workload data?
My understanding with your question, Archiving of data is happening regularly considering 3 months of residence time.
1. Now you want to keep all the data that are archived into custom table and then tell the archiving team to archive the data from the custom table not from the standard tables?
or
2. You will copy a data that are archived into custom table and tell your business team to work on custom table?
In Question no1. You can't do it, all the archiving object that are in the progress are very well tested with the all standard tables that are been archived.
If you force them to do archiving by custom table not from standard table then they have to come with Custom archiving object.. More over there will be no point in archiving of data. Because Data Archiving is implemented to take care of your database and to reduce the cost of new hardware, and to maintain performance.
In this scenario, basic principle of archiving will be failed.
Question no2. From the business side, it requires lot of development of programs so it is also not advisable.
To overcome this type of situation SAP has provided Archiving Information system
This helps in retrieving archived data from your archive server. Talk to your archiving team to fetch all the required data when ever it is required. This archive data can be displayed only but not changeable.
Let me know, if it answers your question.
-Thanks,

What are the precautions to be taken while archiving the POs' and Material
Hi All,
I want to archive the Purchase orders and Material documents. Is there any standard rule to follow this procedure. What are the further consequences for the consecutive documents. And how do you check the open POs' of all.
I have archived PRs' and Invoices, but these are not interlinked.
Could you please help me in this, so that I will be very much thankful to you.
Regards,
RamDear Ramesh,
Go to Tcode ARCHGUIDE --> Application Specific analyses and setting --> MM -->MM_EKKO and MM_MABTEL
You can tick on the documentation and link to SAP help for all the guide and need for this archiving.

Hi,
I am having a problem shortly after upgrading to SBO 2007A. The sales analysis report of a client reports "No Data" when executed under the Items tab with the Invoices selection criteria. The report works under deliveries or orders criteria but when invoices are selected no data is displayed. The report works with no problems under the Business Partners and Sales employee tabs. What could the problem be?
Kind regards,
AnthonyDear Anthony,
For the issue you have mentioned, please check the following.
Please make sure to choose collation setting of:
SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
when installing MSSQL 2005 Server.
In order to check what the collation is set to in your server, please
run the following query:
Collation of your Server:
select SERVERPROPERTY ('collation')
(This query gets the collation settings of MSSQL 2005 System Database
"Master")
Expected answer : SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
In case you have already installed the MSSQL 2005 server with any
collation other than SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS please follow the
steps below:
Change your server collation to SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS.
You can find Microsoft's instructions for changing an SQL server
collation here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179254.aspx
Please note that collation settings of Database "Master" needs to be
changed only. All SAP Business One Databases must not be changed! These
must remain on SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_CI_AS.
If you need any clarifications with this process please refer to an
Expert Empowerment Session "SQL 2005 Server Collation settings" at
https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000050892007E/ or

Hi: I'm analyzing this STATSPACK report: it is "volume test" on our UAT server, so most input is from 'bind variables'. Our shared pool is well utilized in oracle. Oracle redo logs is not appropriately configured on this server, as in 'Top 5 wait events' there are 2 for redos.
I need to know what else information can be dig-out from 'foreground wait events' & 'background wait events', and what can assist us to better understanding, in combination of 'Top 5 wait event's, that how the server/test went? it could be overwelming No. of wait events, so appreciate any helpful diagnostic or analysis. thank you very much!Hi: just know it now: it is a large amount of 'concurrent transaction' designed in this "Volume Test" - to simulate large incoming transaction volme, so I guess wait in eq:TX - row is expected.
The fact: (1) redo logs at uat server is known to not well-tune for configurations (2) volume test slow 5%, however data amount in its test is kept the same by each time import production data, by the team. So why it slowed 5% this year?

Hello!
Before the upgrade from R/3 4.6C to ECC 6.0 I would like to execute SAP R/3 system analysis.
The following functions should be included in this program:
- detailed analysis of system modifications (effort driver and risk factor during an Upgrade)
- comparison against a SAP ERP 6.0 reference system
- extension SAP tools, including RBE and conflict lists (SPAU/SPDD)
- syntax analysis of program code with respect of adjustement need
- quality control of own development
- control of amount of transports within different company areas
- control of user information, such a user type, logon date, etc.
- basic control, whether a sufficient authorization concept is available
- Identification of objects that should be considered for the archiving in oder to decrease the db-size
My question are:
<b>- which tasks can be convered with SAP standard transactions what are the names of the transactions?
- which effort do I investigate for these tasks?</b>
Thank you very much!
regardsDear Thom,
To know the functionality changes u can refer http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/
http://www.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/erp/pdf/BWP_ERP2006_Upgrade.pdf
http://service.sap.com/releasenotes and http://service.sap.com/upgrade for functional changes.
Need to consider the following things:
For Reports its custom developed program so unless there is any kind of change in requirement from the client regarding the layout nothing needs to be changed I think it will work fine in ECC 6.0 to except few things may needs to be changed..so you need to discuss whether they want the reorts as it is right now or want to change the layout (adding some new info/fields etc) of any report so u need to modify the program for those and estimate accordingly for a medium complexitys Report dev it takes approx 9 pd (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing) so to modify it will be less than that (depending upon the scope of changes)
Now say for Batch Inputs(interface/Data Migration) using BDC you need to see how many BDCs are there again if the field lengths and layouts are not changing then no need to change anything (except the main thing ..you need to change the obsolete function modules there are some in 4.6 c like for data upload ws_upload_*** is there 4.6C but obsolete in ECC6.0 there are some new with enhanced functionality so you need to modify the BDCs and many cases it happens that the whole transaction screen changes for process in that case better to develop new BDCs so you have to consider those parameter look into and estimate accordingly modifying a BDC should not take more than 1 PD
Now say for Forms there was no Smart form in 4.6C form printer was there..though the same option is there in ECC 6.0 too..but better to go for/should go for Smart form in that case its complete new dev so estimate accordingly a medium complexitys form should take 8 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing) you can take it as 10 PD too even if client wants to keep it is as it was in older version you have to redevelop the layout in ECC 6.0 again as form printer is even client dependent maximum you can copy the program associated with that form in the new version too and your effort will be saved again you have to consider if clients wants to change the layout too
Now for enhancement so in that case u need to see individual cases for a medium complexity enhancement it should take max 15 PD (FRSTDSCoding+Unit Testing)
One more important thing is that the Unicode Compatibility this needs to be done .needs to change the code (variable name) accordingly .also Version management tool is used for the standard programs
Also pls find the following forums:

SAP R/3 System analysis before upgrade 4.6C -- SAP ECC 6.0
- which tasks can be convered with SAP standard transactions what are the names of the transactions?
- which effort do I investigate for these tasks?

Multiple instances of Web Analysis
Is it possible to have 2 instances of Web Analysis (seperate physical servers) point to a single respository and a single instance of Shared Services. We would like to dedicate one server to internal (LAN/WAN) users and one for external (Internet) access, but want to maintain one set of reports and security. Any assistance will be appreciated. Version 9.3.1.0 running on Win2003 Server with Tomcat.
Hi Ravindranath,

File System error while restoring a backup from analysis server to another
Hi
I have restored an analysis database backup to from server 1 (sql server 2008) to server 2(sql 2008) and its working fine
and now am trying to restore another database from analysis server server 3 (sql 2005) to server 2 (sql 2008 )but its giving error that
File System error occured while opening the file G:\ProgramFiles\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Backup\Workordermodule.0.db\WomDW1.7.00 ..etcHi Maverick,
According to your description, you are experiencing the error when restoring the SSAS 2005 database on SSAS 2008 server, right?
In your scenario, how do you backup your SSAS 2005 database? Please ensure that you backup and restore steps are correct. Here is a blog which describe how to migrate a cube in SQL Server Analysis Services 2005 to SQL Server Analysis Services 2008 step by
step, please refer to the link below.

Besides, you can import SQL 2005 AS database in SQL 2008 BIDS Project. Then fix AMO warnings and deploy that database on SQL 2008 Server.

What order are Archive logs restored in when RMAN recover database issued
Ok, you have a run block that has restored your level-0 RMAN backup.
Your base datafiles are down on disc.
You are about to start recovery to point in time, lets say until this morning at 07:00am.
run { set until time "TO_DATE('2010/06/08_07:00:00','YYYY/MM/DD_HH24:MI:SS')";
allocate channel d1 type disk;
allocate channel d2 type disk;
allocate channel d3 type disk;
allocate channel d4 type disk;
recover database;
So the above runs, it analyses the earlies SCN required for recovery, checks for incremental backups (none here), works out the archivelog range
required and starts to restore the archive logs. All as expected and works.
My question: Is there a particular order that RMAN will restore the archive logs and is the restore / recover process implemented as per the run block.
i.e Will all required archive logs based on the run block be restored and then the database recovered forward. Or is there something in RMAN that says restore these archive logs, ok now roll forwards, restore some more.
When we were doing this the order of the archive logs coming back seemed to be random but obviously constrained by the run block. Is this an area we need to tune to get recoveries faster for situations where incrementals are not available?
Any inputs on experience welcome. I am now drilling into the documentation for any references there.
ThanksHi there, thanks for the response I checked this and here are the numbers / time stamps on an example:
This is from interpreting the list backup of archivelog commands.
Backupset = 122672
==============
Archive log sequence 120688 low time: 25th May 15:53:07 next time: 25th May 15:57:54
Piece1 pieceNumber=123368 9th June 04:10:38 <-- catalogued by us.
Piece2 pieceNumber=122673 25th May 16:05:18 <-- Original backup on production.
Backupset = 122677
==============
Archive log sequence 120683 low time: 25th May 15:27:50 Next time 25th May 15:32:24 <-- lower sequence number restored after above.
Piece1 PieceNumber=123372 9th June 04:11:34 <-- Catalogued by us.
Piece2 PieceNumber=122678 25th May 16:08:45 <-- Orignial backup on Production.
So the above would show that if catalogue command you could influence the Piece numbering. Therefore the restore order if like you say piece number is the key. I will need to review production as to why they were backed up in different order completed on production. Would think they would use the backupset numbering and then piece within the set / availability.
Question: You mention archive logs are restored and applied and deleted in batches if the volume of archivelogs is large enough to be spread over multiple backup sets. What determines the batches in terms of size / number?
Thanks for inputs. Answers some questions. -

Cosultant - ABAP/XI/ Netweaver.Hi Fabio,
SAP Recommends the use of UML (Unified Modeling Language). They worked with Rational Software in order to provide an external modeling tool to supports SAP's class.
