ARD is spamming an old IP address...why?

First of all, let me say, I am fairly new to ARD so bear with me.
We have several labs that have ARD enabled. Each of the machines in these labs are constantly and consistently trying to contact an IP address that is no longer valid. The IP address they are trying to reach is an IP that was assigned to a MacBook which was registered on our wireless network, but which no longer exists. the MacBook isnt being used any more, and no other devices are using this specific IP, yet the machines in the labs keep trying to connect to it. WHY?
Yes, the macbook on this IP did have ARD 3.1 installed on it, and was used to administer these machines at one point. But it has been a while. So why are they still trying to contact this old IP.
Here is a copy of the network report sent by one of our network admins. I've edited the IP's and narrowed it down to one machine, instead of the 50-60 machines in the log:

Jun 02 2009|12:36:33|1xx.16.64.126|10.128.50.252|3283|Deny tcp src legacy:1xx.16.64.126/49275 dst general-campus:10.128.50.252/3283 by access-group "general-campusaccessout"
I know that doesnt show a whole lot except that it is going over port 3283 which is ARD. Are there some preferences we can throw away? Some cache of some sort? Any hints?

No luck, unfortunately. I did as Dave suggested and removed every one of the machines from the ARD list, then manually added them back in by IP. However, after adding them, I selected some machines individually, then File->Get info... I made some changes to the data collection settings. I set all of the machines to only report back on 1 day of the week at a particular time, and made sure to set the address of the data collection server on each one to the ARD server that we want them going to...not the old IP as previously listed.
Thinking this definitely solved the problem, I got another email from our network admin showing every single one of the machines contacting that old IP, over and over, about 3-5 times per minute. The machines were on, and did receive the updated settings.
Just now, I set three machines to not send any report data. Going to see if this makes a difference.
Oh, and after I deleted each of the machines, and added them back again, under file->Get Info, there were 3 IP addresses under the Task Server Address drop down menu. The correct IP of the current ARD server, and two old IP's that also no longer exist. Thats when I manually selected the correct IP, rather than leave it on default.
Any other ideas?

  • Why has my iCloud id become my old email address from years ago. My apple id is my current one. How can I change my icloud one so it is the same?

My mum's iCloud username is coming up as her old email address frok years ago. She can't sign in as can't remember the password for it And has no access to the email address. I updated successfully her iTunes/Apple id years ago & is still up and running. How do I get rid of this iCloud id and make it her recent email. I'm confused why this has happened in the 1st place

With iOS 7 you will have to provide the password for the old ID in order to delete the existing account from your iPad.  If you can't do this, contact Apple for assistance by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click More Produces & Services>Apple ID>iTunes Store, App Store or Mac App Store>Disabled Apple ID.
As far as your missing contacts, when you get the password for the old ID reset, sign in with the ID and your new password at icloud.com and check to see if your contacts are there.  If they are, export them as a vCard as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606.  You can then import this vCard to your new account as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605.

  • Why when I try to update certain app it require an old email address and password I have not used for years and I do I get to update them on my new details

Why when I try to update certain app it require an old email address and password I have not used for years and I do I get to update them on my new details

Apps are tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase them and you will always need to use that ID and password in order to update them.
Saying that you do get to update them on your new details makes no sense at all.

  • My device has my old email address, but I have changed it through the icloud. Why does it not change on the device?

Why does my device have my old email address in the icloud

After updating your primary email address you may then need to log out and back in with the updated version so as to 'refresh' the account on it : Settings > iCloud > Delete Account

All iPhone apps are digitally signed using the Apple ID they were purchased with.  You CANNOT change this.  You either enter the password for the original Apple ID, or you delete the App and download a new copy using the new Apple ID.  Free apps that do not have lots of in-app content (like your Solitare High Score) are not a problem.  Paid apps and free apps with lots of built-up/earned content can be very annoying as you have to re-pay for the app and/or build-up/earn that content again.

  • Why is iCal suddenly trying to use an old email address?

In the last month or so iCal keeps sending all of my alerts to an old email address. None of my alerts are set to be sent via email, much less the defunct account. This is happening at the same time that Mail refuses to send and displays the wrong content for emails.

    Hey J,
Sure is confusing, but I think we can work it out...
If iTunes is telling you that there's an existing Apple ID with the name you're trying to change your iTunes account to, then, yup, you're probably right that you've used that email address as some other kind of Apple ID in the past...maybe for an iPod registration...or to use the support pages...any number of things).
To make things simple, let's give some fake names to the two email addresses at work here:
let's call your current iTunes account name [email protected]
let's call your other email address [email protected]
    1. goto http://myinfo.apple.com and sign in using [email protected] (if the password doesn't work, try going to http://iforgot.apple.com to recover it)
    2. once you're there, change the Apple ID (or account name) of that account to something other than "[email protected]". Make it something easy like "[email protected]_old", and make a note of this in case you need that Apple ID in the future.
    3. save those changes. you're now done with myinfo.apple.com
    4. at this point, you should be A-OK. you can now change your old account name "[email protected]" to "[email protected]".
    Hope this helps! =)

This has happened to me as well. Monitering.

  • I am trying to change some settings in my Apple and I do not remember my security question answers. When I click on sent a reset email, an old email address (no longer accessible ) comes up. This email address is nowhere in my profile. Ideas??

I want to change some security settings in my Apple ID and it asks to answer some security questions that I have no clue why I am answering them wrong. So then I check off send a reset email to change them and the email address comes up with an old email address I no longer can access. That email address is nowhere in my profile! My profile has 3 email address that are active but not this one. HELP... Thank you so much beforehand

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • I keep receiving Reset email password emails. The most recent one was actually addressed to someone else... i.e. the name in the email not the email address. why is this happening??

I keep receiving Reset email password emails.
The most recent one was actually addressed to someone else... i.e. the name in the email not the email address. why is this happening?? I am not requesting to reset my icloud email password.

That's probably because it's been sent out to a Bcc'd mailing list and that's the name on the main version. This is so that you don't see the other names.
If it doesn't come from something @apple.com then it's spam. Even if it appears to it's probably spam. If you want to change your password go directly to http://appleid.apple.com - do not follow any links in the email (even if they appear to lead to that address.)

  • How do I get Creative Cloud.app to stop asking me for my old email address ?

How do I get Creative Cloud.app to stop asking me for my old email address that I do not have access to? I have reinstalled it several times and it stills asks for it! I spent several hours on Chat and my help specialist logged off before I had an answer to this issue. I'd prefer not to delete all of my files and apps associated with the CC suite. But I cannot update my apps without the panel letting me log in

OKay I finally found the answer- for some convoluted reason, you need to sign out from with an app from the help menu- Why is there not an option to signet on the app Panel?

  • We had to change email and I can't access the old one. iCloud sends instructions to change passwords to the old account. I have tried deleting the old iCloud and create a new account, but it shows iCloud sent verification to the old email address again!

We had to change our email address and I cannot have access to the old one. I have changed accounts but iCloud sends verification instructions to the old address. I deleted the old but it won't let me access a new account without he verification and they keep sending it to my old email address.

Also-I tried to use my backup hard drive, but I wasn't able to drag/transfer/send/move any of my muic files onto my iTouch when the iTouch was connected to my computer.  I can't figure out why it won't let me do that.
The only thing I can see when I open my iTouch on my computer is my file with photos.  I can't see videos, music, or anything else.  What's going on?

  • AgentServer keeps on complaining about an old IP address.

    Good morning,
On my machine, a T2000 running Solaris 10, I see the following message each 10 seconds:

I have already stopped the AgentServer by launching this command:
    +/opt/SUNWsymon/sbin/es-stop -a+
I have also verified, there are no "SUNWsymon" entries in the crontab.
I would like to investigate why I have those error messages but therefore I would like to stop temporarily the daemon that sends them. Does anybody know how to this?
    Thanks

If he still has the L2L VPN setup at his end, the only thing you can do is to filter his address, preferably on the upstream router - if that's under your control - or have him remove his end's config.
He says he has removed it on his end, and that our firewall is still trying to bring up a tunnel with him.
you'll need to remove the crypto related config.
    no crypto isakmp key <KEY> address <PREV ADMIN'S IP>
    no crypto ipsec transform-set <TSET NAME>
    no crypto map <CMAP NAME> <SEQUENCE NUM>
When I do "no crypto isakmp key <key> address <ip> I get:
    ERROR:no keyword not supported.Command deprecated
    Usage: crypto { ca | dynamic-map | engine | ipsec | isakmp | key | map  }
For more detailed help, please refer directly to the subcommands
If I understand everything right we are using the transform-set for other VPN connections as well.
For the last one, I don't see any crypto map entries with his IP as the peer.

  • IOS7 Not Release Old IP Address

I have noticed on our network we are having issues with iOS7 Devices retaining old IP Addresses. It looks like It is consistant across multiple devices (4S, iPad2, &5S) they are keeping their ip addresses from home of 192.168.1.xxx and only pick up the new IP for Work of 10.xxx.xxx.xxx after manually renewing the IP Address. I have been able to track is down to just a few devices and am not sure why only these ones are affected and not all of the iOS7 Devices are being affected. The wireless AP They are connecting to when this problem occurs is a MikroTik RB SXT G-2HnD. There is nothing on the network that would be giving out a 192.168.1.xxx ip address. This is making me wonder if they are retaining them from their home networks.
This looks like it is affecting their abilty to accesses anything behind our vpn to our remote business system since it is not an approved ip address on our routing hardware. it is not affecting their ability to conduct regular internet traffic. The 192.168.1.xxx addresses these devices are showing are different and not in sequntial order with the other ones so i doubt there is something somewhere on the network dishing out the ip addresses.

    Hey there,
It sounds like you have isolated this Wi-Fi issue down to a few devices. I want to recommend the troubleshooting steps in this article to see how they help the issue:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
And this section from down the bottom:
Unable to automatically connect to Wi-Fi
Avoid giving your Wi-Fi network a common name.
Some wireless routers are preconfigured with a common SSID (network name) such as "wireless" or "default."
If your desired Wi-Fi network has a common SSID, try changing the SSID to something unique2.
If your desired Wi-Fi network has a unique SSID, reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Regards,
    Sterling

  • HT5621 I have recently just bought an iPad but before I purchase anything I need to answer my security questions, I don't remember the answers, I went to  forgotten my security questions answers but them email was sent to my old email address

I have recently just bought an iPad but before I purchase anything I need to answer my security questions, I don't remember the answers, I went to  forgotten my security questions answers but them email was sent to my old email address

If the email hasn't arrived after a few hours and isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.
