I'm working for an Insurance company, now
we want to purchase accounting system,including
AP,AR,Asset,GL,HRM,CRM,I know many companies
in the manufacture or buying offices fields purchase
the Oracle Financials, so I wonder if Oracle Financials
are suitable for our company's daily operation? if
Oracle Financials are suitable for our company?
what's more, can we just purchase Financials modules?

I'm running it in production, and have run into some issues where I recommended to management to just spring the few hundred bucks for SE.
The basic problem is it has the bugs of a first release.  For my system, a few have been minor, but there has been an extreme growth of the sysaux tablespace.  For me, it wound up being simplest to just make a gold backup and restore that whenever the problem manifests, but I can only do that because I can reload all new data.  I have to make more gold when DDL changes.
I think the lack of bugfixes turns XE from a great idea to a bad one.  It's supposed to be appropriate for environments with no DBA, but that is just plain wrong.
YMMV.

    If I understand you correctly, you are looking for an option that can allow users can create their own report on your web application, right?
    Microsoft Reporting Services offers four report authoring environments:
    Report Builder 3.0. Use this tool to design reports that are compatible with a SQL Server 2008 R2 report server by using the familiar Ribbon interface.
    Report Designer. Use this tool in SQL Server 2008 R2 Business Intelligence Development Studio (SQL Server 2012 SQL Server Data Tool) to design full-function
    reports that are compatible with a SQL Server 2008 R2 report server.
    However, the authoring tools cannot be integrated into custom web application, so I am afraid there is no such an option to make customize reports in your web application.

    The forever license is mentioned as "perpetual" otherwise its going to be on yearly basis. But , still I would be fully agreed with Fahd and would suggest that you discuss this your local oracle sales rep. I believe no one would pay the listed price and there can be tons of ways to do price negotiations and for all this and any other hidden paradigms, oracle's official sales is the best resource to check with. Anything said by anyone over here and elsewhere by a non-employee, won't be honored by oracle.

  • Oracle Text suitability for my project

    i am building an application that stores web content. The content could be anything you see on the web - html, javascript, pdfs, binary files and xml.
    I've had a look at Oracle Text and it seems ok to find keywords but are needs are a bit different:
    1. Find whole chunks of text eg javascript code blocks, paragraphs of text
    2. Find recurring bytes in binary files.
    Can Oracle Text do this?

  • Are there any options for a company to host Buzzword internally?

    My company currently produces documents using an HTML based editor (around a million docs a year/1500 employees).  For a new project, we'd like a document solution that avoids some of the limitations we're currently dealing with.  For example, we rely on IE custom print templates for printing headers/footers/boilerplate material.  This is functional, but not ideal, and precludes full functionality in other browsers.
    I like the Buzzword tech - with some tweaking I think it would meet our needs.  However, with the nature of our business we'd need to store the documents locally and be able to control access, document creation and editing, etc.. on more of our own terms and in a strongly branded, tightly controlled environment.
    Have you done arrangements like this before?  Is there someone I can talk to in terms of pricing, etc..? Obviously I haven't done a ton of research at this point, but I figure someone here can point me in the right direction.

  • Are Analytic Workspaces suitable for very large data sets?

    Hi all,
    I have made many different tests with analytic workspaces and i have used the different features (compression,composites...). The results especially for maintenance are disappointing.
    I have a star schema with 6 dimensions. The fact table has 730 million rows, the first dimension has 2,9 million rows and the other 5 dimensions have between 25 and 300 rows each.
    My conclusion is that Analytic Workspaces don't help in situations like mine. The time for maintenance is very very bad not to mention the time for aggregations. I even tried to populate the cube in parts( 90 million rows for the first population) but nothing change. And there are some other problems with storage and tablespaces ( I always get the message unable to extent TEMP tablespace. The size of it is 54Gb).
    Is there something i missing? Has anyone similar problem or different opinion?

    A few other tips to add to Keith's excellent advice:
    - How many CPU's does your server have? The answer to this may help you decide the optimal level to partition at (in my experience DAY is too low and can cause different problems). What other levels does your time dimension have? Are you loading your cubes in parallel?
    - To speed up your load, partition your underlying fact table with the same granularity as your cubes and place an index on the field mapped to the partition dimension
    - Are you using 10.2.0.3? If so, be very careful with the storage data type you choose when creating your cubes. The default in 10.2.0.3 is NUMBER which has the capability of storing data to 38 significant figures. This usually exceeds what is required for most datasets. If your dataset allows you to use storage of 15 significant figures then you should create your cubes using the DECIMAL data type instead. This will use about one third of the storage space and significantly increase your build speeds (in my experience, more than 3 times faster)
    - Make sure you have preallocated enough permanent and temporary tablespaces for your build. Autoextending can be very time consuming.
    - Consider reducing the amount of aggregation you do in batch. It should not be necessary to pre-aggregate everything in order to get good query performance.
    Generally, I would say that the volume should not be a problem. A single dimension with 2.9 million values is fairly big and can be slow (in OLAP terms) to query but that should not be an obstacle to building it in the first place.

  • GL code for common company code

    Please suggest the solution in following situation:-
    Situation:- we have 10 company code with common chart of account. first we have created one company code (say 1000) and rest we have created with reference to first company code (say 1000). thru this process, all relevant data get copied in all company codes.
    Problem:- Some of the GL code is company specific like bank and tax GL. The movement we are creating GL code for first company code (say 1000), it is automatically available in all company code created with reference to first company code.
    Expected solution:- how can we avoid the same. one solution we have which is mark for deletion for unwanted GL. But mark for deletion GL also appear in F4 selection list which is creating confusion for user.
    Please suggest the possible changes.

    after coping GLs from company code 1 to Com cod 2,please delete the unwanted GLs from CC 2 with transaction code OBR2.
    at company code level only you have to delete those GLs

    for example, table like GL% and ... ?I believe this is no direct answer to your question as this depends on the number/type of records you have in your tables, and this varies from one organization/environment to another. You could calculate the size of the tables and decide which tables need compression by yourself.

    IMG->MM->Purchase Order->Setup stock transport order->Define shipping data for plants.
    In this step when you define plant as customer, the same plant as customer needs to be maintaind for both STO and Inter company and there is only one entry of sales area possible for this single plant. So, how can the task be achieved.
    I want that STO should be carried out by sales area lets say X/Y/Z
    Inter company should go through A/B/C.

               What is issue in that u can Transfer any MATERIAL, just need to extend it to given sales area.

    We have the followings:
    i   We have 1 Chart of Depr
    ii  Company Codes A & B (common ChoA)
    iii Depreciation Areas: 1, 2 and 3
    Each Depr Area has its own accounts in AO90.
    I check the "Depr Area block" indicator, say for area 3, when I do AS01 for company A.
    During activation through investment order (KO88, full settlement) I got a message:
    Error during acquisition transfer: Depr. area does not exist
    Diagnosis
    According to the specifications for transfer variant 5, depreciation area 3 should be transferred gross. However, the recieving asset GHY 110033-0 does not manage this depreciation area.
    Procedure
    Check the transfer variant and the receiving asset.
    The scenario would be that each company code would activate respective depr areas (of course beside the leading area, which is common for everybody), and later on each would see only the needed figures.
    I looked up the transfer variant settings but Iu2019m not sure about the settings.
    Is it possible anyway? Or I need to set up different Chart of Depr for each Co. Code?

    Normal you create 1 chart of depreciation by country with the same rules for all companies in that country
