Arithmetic operations using Picklist field values
Hi,
I tried to multiply a picklist field value as below and wanted to store the result in a field (datatype = Integer or Number) using a workflow which triggers based on the Trigger Event "Before modified record saved".
Criticality = [<plFrequency_of_Occurrence_ITAG>] * 10
It throws an error:
"Update Criticality : Value too long for field 'ZNum_0' (maximum size 16). (SBL-DAT-00235)(SBL-ODS-00500)"
Can't we do arithmetic operations on the Picklist fields? I believe this is because the values are being stored as text??
Do we have a function to convert the character field to numeric before we perform any arithmetic operations?
Thanks,
Sriram
Hi,
You're right, you can't perform arithmetic operations with a number and a text. That's why you get the error.
Today, there's no function you can use to convert a text to a number.
You'll need to create a SR asking for a Change Request.

Max

How to use table field values as dynamic parameters on selection screen
Hi,
I need help on dynamic selection parameters.
I need to display no. of parameters from the fields of a database table.
Basically i want to pass field values of a table to selection screen and we can use those values as parameter on selection screen.
If there are 10 entries in a table field( say field is field_name and entries are bukrs,kunnr etc.)
I need to display as many parameters on screen as many values are there in field_name( In this case it is 10)
SELECTION-SCREEN: BEGIN OF BLOCK b2 WITH FRAME TITLE text-t02.
PARAMETERS:
p_bukrs(5) ,
p_kunnr(5) ,
SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK b2.
ThanxHi,
You can create it using Dynamic Program.Check this link below.

Using a field value as subject in Email Submit - help
Hi there,
I am new to the forums and very new to LiveCycle and XML and Java.
All i need is some hopefully very simple help.
I have a PDF form, and all i want is when i click the submit button it uses the value entered into the textbox called JobCode as the subject in the email.
how to do i adapt it to this code:
<event name="event__click" activity="click">
<submit format="xml" textEncoding="UTF-8" target="mailto:[email protected]?subject="/>
</event>
What do i type or where do i put whatever to make it work. it should be simple.
Thank you in advance
JasonGOT IT...
After a lot of mucking around and then leaving to watch a movie then coming back with a fresh mind i nailed it.. haha
feel like a bit of a goose cause i couldnt figure it out earlier but i got now..
i needed to use
var oJobCode;
var oSubmit;
var oSubject;
var oBody;
oJobCode = form1.Page1.JobCode.rawValue;
oSubmit = form1.Page2.TrdsRspn.rawValue;
oSubject = "Job Code: "+ oJobCode;
oBody = "Works Report Submitted by: " + oSubmit;
event.target.mailDoc({bUI: true,cTo: "[email protected]",cCC: "",cSubject: oSubject,cMsg: oBody});
AND BAM!
Works perfectly. -
Left-shift operator used on byte values
Hello,
I'm reviewing some problems, and I need some help. I have a program that has some code like the following:
byte y = 10; // 00001010 in binary
byte result = (byte) (y << 1);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // 20. Ok.
result = (byte) (y << 7);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // 0. Ok.
result = (byte) (y << 8);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // 0. Why???
// I was expecting a shift of 0 bits because the
// right-hand operand is equal to the number of
// bits for the size of the result type--in this case
// 8 bits for a byte.
// 8 % 8 = 0 number of bits for the shift.
result = (byte) (y << 6);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // -128. Ok.
result = (byte) (y << 10);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // 0. Why???
// Shouldn't it be 2 bits for the shift?
// That is, 10 % 8 = 2.
// I was expecting 40 as the the answer for this one.I understand that for binary operations that the operands will be promoted to at least int types before execution occurs, but I still don't see how it would make a difference for the left-shift operator. Any help and clarification on this will be appreciated. It would be helpful to see the binary representation of the the "result" variable for the ones that I'm asking about. Thanks in advance.result = (byte) (y << 8);
System.out.println("result: " + result); // 0. Why???
// I was expecting a shift of 0 bits because the
// right-hand operand is equal to the number of
// bits for the size of the result type--in this case
// 8 bits for a byte.the result of (y << 8) is an int, not a byte. the byte "y" is promoted to int for the bit shift. so the int result of the bit shift is 00000000 00000000 00001010 00000000. when you cast that back to byte, the 24 leftmost bits get lopped off, and you're left with zero.

Sure it's just me (what I don't know about PAPI could fill volumes :) ), but could you go into a bit more detail about what you mean by "Constant Field Values"?
Know I'm sure to learn something new out of this.

Adobe Acrobat as a server to create PDF using PDF templates and field values
I'm writing a web page to create a PDF using fields that we ask for them in the screen.
My idea is:
1. Ask for field values (text values and a photo) in my web
2. Run Adobe Acrobat to load a PDF template (PDF form) and mix with the field values
3. Create a final PDF mixing values and template
4. Show to document to the user in his client web browser. I guess the only way to do that is to create the PDF on a server with Adobe Acrobat Pro and send to the user browser a JPEG that will represent the PDF: If I do this operation in the PDF visor at the client browser, the problem is that it will will be mandatory to install Adobe Acrobat in each cliente because only this visor can manage javascript.
Can you tell me if this idea is correct? It is possible to use Adobe Acrobat on a Server to create PDF when some proccess needs?and what other Adobe product o procedure can we use to do that?
I only need to create a PDF mixing PDF Templete, field values and javascript.
Thanks for your help. -
Using Modulus (%) arithmetic operator with decimals
When trying to use the arithmetic operator modulus with decimals there seem to be some errors in the results. Is there a restriction on the number/value of decimals that can be used with this operator? Am I perhaps just using it incorrectly?
example ...
Double valA= new Double("12.4");
Double valB = new Double("1236");
double result = valB.floatValue() % valA.floatValue();
System.out.println("valB : " + valB );
System.out.println("valA: " + valA);
System.out.println("result : " + result);
produces :
valB : 1236.0
valA : 12.4
result : 8.40003776550293
But :
Double valA= new Double("12.5");
Double valB = new Double("1236");
double result = valB.floatValue() % valA.floatValue();
System.out.println("valB : " + valB );
System.out.println("valA: " + valA);
System.out.println("result : " + result);
produces :
valB : 1236.0
valA : 12.5
result : 11.0Floating point arithmetic in general is not exact. The problem is that you are expecting exact results.
In the second example where you use 12.5 and 1236.0 is just so happens that both of those numbers can be represented exactly, so you do get an exact result. -

Praveen kWhich version are you using? Can you please try and narrow down to the offending field? You can do this by limiting the fields you provide to ResultDefinition.

I see that you can control which form is used based on security roles, but can you control it based on other field values? I'd like a new record to use a different form until a given status is updated. I have a status of draft and active. So
it would be nice if I could use form1 for those in draft, form2 for those that are active. But I only see where you can control that via the security roles.
I can code all of this via JavaScript, but having the ability to use two separate forms would be nice. Is that even possible.

How to use a parameter field value as a substring in a "like" statement?
Hi all,
I'm trying to use a parameter field in a Record selection formula where the parameter field value would be a substring of the data stored in the field.
My parameter field (SlctResearcher) is constructed as follows:
Type: string
List of Values: static
Value Field: (Reports) RptAuthors
(in Value Options) Allow custom values?: True
{Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
{Reports.RptAuthors} like "*{?SlctResearcher}*"
When I hit F5 to generate the data, I get no results (and the parameter prompt field does not even come up...)
If I modify the formula to put a hard-coded string, like
"*Jones*"
after the 'like', I get results (all the reports where "Jones" is a substring in the RptAuthors string.) If I modify the formula to just use the parameter field without the quotes/stars like:
{Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
{Reports.RptAuthors} like {?SlctResearcher}
I do get the parameter prompt field, but still no results even if I put in a valid substring value (since it is not searching for a substring anymore...)
How can I do this?
Thanks,
Will1st thing... Make a copy of your report before doing anything!!!
To use a SQL Command, you'll want to open the Database Expert and look at the Current Connections. Expand the data source and the 1st option you see is the Add Command option.
To find the SQL That CR is currently using, choose Database from the menu bar and select Show SQL Query...
You can copy this and paste it directly into the command window. (If you you can write your own SQL you don't need copy CR's, it's just an option.)
You'll also want to take not of any parameters that you have, you'll need to add them the the Parameter List of the command as well... be sure to spell them EXACTLY as they are in the design pane.
Anyway, once the SQL statement is in the Command window you'll be able to alter the WHERE clause to use the wild cards.
For future reference... What type of database are you reporting against???

Web services test using WS Navigator doesnot return field values
Hi experts,
We are running ECC 6 (NW 7 Ehp1) ABAP stack and NW CE 7.1 with Java stack (J2EE Engine 7.11). We are trying to test web services using WS Navigator. We can logon to WS Navigator and perform the test. The test shows a success return code, however, it doesn't bring back field values. We can see the values when we perform this test within ABAP stack. A sample of WS Navigator XML log for the service test is as below:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<soap-env:Envelope xmlns:soap-env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<soap-env:Header/>
<soap-env:Body>
<n0:ZcGetCustomerInfoResponse xmlns:n0="urn:sap-com:document:sap:soap:functions:mc-style">
<OKna1>
<Mandt/>
<Kunnr/>
<Land1/>
<Name1/>
<Name2/>
<Ort01/>
<Pstlz/>
<Regio/>
<Sortl/>
u2026
<MessageV3/>
<MessageV4/>
<Parameter/>
<Row>0</Row>
<Field/>
<System/>
</Return>
</n0:ZcGetCustomerInfoResponse>
</soap-env:Body>
</soap-env:Envelope>
If someone can provide insight why is this happening, I would greatly appreciate it.

Printing field values to a PDF using a template
Hi
I have a set of field values stored in variables, I need to print these fields into a
PDF file. There is a template for this PDF , and each field value should go to a
specific location wrt the template on the new PDF. Could you any one
recommend a 3rd party API that can be used to do this purpose.I used iText (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) to do
this.
I created the template as a PDF and used AcroForms to
create named fields within specific formatting within
the PDF.
// Create a BAOS into which to write the
PDF.
ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new
ByteArrayOutputStream();
// Load the PDF template and open the form fields.
InputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(
"template.pdf" );
PdfReader reader = new PdfReader( inputStream
PdfStamper stamp = new PdfStamper(reader,
baos);
AcroFields form = stamp.getAcroFields();
o set the text in a field:
form.setField("field_name", "field value");
// close the PDF and return the bytestream
stamp.close();
return baos;
It looks like that you are loading a PDF template from a file, and straight
away attempting to fill the form by using the name of the field. To do this shouldnt the
template PDF be formatted in a specific way to access the specific
location of the template where the field is.
Can you tell me if the template PDF file should be formatted in a specific way
to do this using iText. I was thinking of calculating the offsets of each field
and just print the data at that location.
And I very much appreciate your help so far. -
How do I convert the ASCII character % ,which is 25h, to a hex number 25h. I've tried using the scan value VI but I get a zero in the value field.
You can use String to Byte Array for this.
