AS/400 Tables in oracle reports

Hello,
Could anyone help me out whether we can use AS/400 database's tables in oracle reports??
Thanks.

As far as I know Oracle has a possibility to communicate with a AS400 database. More info can be found here: http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/A97615_01/title.htm

    Can anybody advise to solve this issue.

    Look in the Reports Builder Help:
    If you want to use lexical references in your SELECT clause, you should create a separate lexical reference for each column you will substitute. In addition, you should assign an alias to each lexical reference.
    Does adding the column alias solve the problem?

  • Inserting images stored as BLOB in table to Oracle Report(10G)

    We have some oracle reports(rdf) built in Oracle 10g. Now we are planning to update these reports to include images stored as pdf's on file system. We have loaded these pdf's as blob into tables. Is there a way to include these image/s into the reports.
    Thx.

    Easy answer: No, this is not possible. You can't show a PDF inside your report.
    Since you are talking about just images, why do you even store these images as PDF? Why not as JPG or PNG (if you need best image-quality)?
    Using a normal image in a report would be no problem at all.
    Complex answer: Yes, this could be possible with an enormous effort.
    You could write yourself a Java-Bean which reads the BLOB, uses something like "iText" to convert the PDF to a normal image, and then display this image.
    I want to recommend to not use this solution since it introduces a really big complexity into you report where the usual solution of just storing images as images and not PDFs would give you a better result (and way better performance).

  • Updating a table from Oracle Report

    This is on Report 6i. How do I achieve this? I need to pass UPDATE statement on an oracle database table based on a condition from report formula.
    Thanks,
    R

    So, there is no difficulty in this. As normal DML are working. You can perform also UPDATE/INSERT from report on your condition. So, you can use where you want.
    Or you want to know something else?

  • Oracle Reports Developer 6i - sample data tables

    I downloaded and installed all the components of Oracle Reports 6i on my PC. When I look at the Oracle Reports Developer manual (building reports.pdf) it is referring to a database tables like stocks, stock_history etc. I am trying to learn how to use the tool using this manual. Aren't the sql scripts that create those tables and load the sample data a part of the installation. Am I missing anything. I will appreciate any input. Again, I did a full install by selecting all the components and not just a typical install.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Suresh
    Try locating these tables in scott schema. If you don't find it there, try locating the scripts to create this table in Oracle Database installation folder.

  • Grouping in rtf template like oracle reports - a newbie question

    Hello all
    I am new to BI Publisher and have probablly a silly question to ask.
    I have a basic query that returns a flat xml file which looks something like this. it will have multiple rows.
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <DATE>01-DEC-2007</DATE>
    <PACKAGE>XXX </PACKAGE>
    <DROP_OFF>Hotel1</DROP_OFF>
    <ROOM>1</ROOM>
    <NAME>Test Customer</NAME>
    <PROBLEM_RECORDED>N</PROBLEM_RECORDED>
    <EXCEPTION>1</EXCEPTION>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
    Because i am fairly new to xml i am at a loss trying to work out how i can form a template that will effectively allow grouping at say
    1. Date Level
    2. Package Level
    3.Drop Off level
    4. put all other data in here
    In reports i would just do groups and alter the layout accordingly. Obviously if i had an oracle report version of the sql that generates the xml then i could just generate the xml from the report and i would get the xml i am looking for .
    But I am working with basic sql not reports and am wondering What do I have to do with my xml to get it looking live the grouping I mention above, given all i have to play with is the example xml I included. I am really bamboozled and think i am missing something simple.
    I dont want to have to write multiple queries with different groupings using cast , multiset as I thought one of the benefits of BI Publisher was one query multiple layouts.
    Thanks
    Lisa

    If you haev word plugin installed,
    please follow the documentation and try using that,
    load the xml in the word plugin
    and then select insert table/form and then you can do the drag and drop,
    and group by each fields.

  • Can we use Dynamic SQL in Oracle Reports ?

    Hi ,
    Can we use Dynamic SQL in Oracle Reports ?
    If yes please give some examples .
    Thanx
    srini

    I believe the built-in package SRW.Do_Sql is what you are looking for
    Example from the document:
    /* Suppose you want to create a "table of contents" by getting the
    ** first character of a columns value, and page number on which its
    ** field fires to print. Assume that you want to put the "table of
    contents"
    ** into a table named SHIP. You could write the following construct:
    DECLARE
    PAGE_NO NUMBER;
    PAGE_FOR INDEX NUMBER;
    SORT_CHAR CHAR(1);
    CMD_LINE CHAR(200);
    BEGIN
    SORT_CHAR := :SORT_NAME ;
    IF :CALLED = Y THEN
         SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM(PAGE_FOR_INDEX);
         SRW.USER_EXIT(RWECOP PAGE_FOR_INDEX
         P_START_PAGENO);
         SRW.MESSAGE(2,TO_CHAR(:P_START_PAGENO));
    END IF;
    SRW.GET_PAGE_NUM(PAGE_NO);
    CMD_LINE := INSERT INTO SHIP VALUES
                          (||SORT_CHAR||,||TO_CHAR(PAGE_NO)||);
    SRW.MESSAGE(2,CMD_LINE);
    SRW.DO_SQL(CMD_LINE);
    COMMIT;
    EXCEPTION
      WHEN DUP_VAL_ON_INDEX THEN
            NULL;
      WHEN SRW.DO_SQL_FAILURE THEN
            SRW.MESSAGE(1,FAILED TO INSERT ROW INTO SHIP TABLE);
      WHEN OTHERS THEN
           COMMIT;
    END;

  • Pl/sql vs oracle reports 6i

    Hi I am new to oracle development.
    My requirement is to create a text file periodically reading data from oracle tables.
    the client wants me to use oracle reports 6i and create a text file. they actually do not have a requirement for a report or this report will not be used in nay other way.
    the final output should be text file.
    i feel using utl_file package creating the text file on the server is a much better option. for this i thought writing a stored procedure and scheduling this procedure.
    please suggest me how i should convince. please give me suggestions in this. thanks in advance..mohan

    A while back all reports were just text files, what is the difference between a text report and a text file? If Oracle reports can do it go ahead. If you think it is overhead spool it from SQL*Plus, which as well as being an ad hoc query tool is actually designed as a text only report writer. If you want to you can still use a stored procedure that returns a ref cursor and just print and format the output in SQL*Plus however its wanted.
    Don't use util_file, its more code, slower, complicated, you can't just use SQL, you have to loop (though for some reason many programmers seem to see this as an advantage), it can only access the server, Its more suitable for diagnostics, tracing and logging, things the DBA would be interested in, not for the end user or external system interfaces.

  • GENERATING ORACLE REPORT IN ADF

    Hi,
    i need to generate offer letter for student.
    an admin will need to generate offer letter of student bases on their intakeId, branchId, degId, and typeofferletter.
    currently im doing this in adf form. from here how to transfer the information in adf form into offer letter template and print it in pdf?

    Hi,
    actually there are two questions in one:
    1: How to call an Oracle Reports from ADF?
    Answer is to use the Oracle Reports URL to request a report. The data submitted by an ADF form could be passed as URL parameters or - if sensitive information is involved - saved in a temporary table for reports to look it up. Have a look at for an option to download the PDF by referenring the Reports URL http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/apirefs.1111/e12419/tagdoc/af_fileDownloadActionListener.html
    2: How to generate PDF from ADF
    Jasper Reports, BI Publisher or POI are the options people use for reporting in ADF. Jasper Reports and BI Publisher allow the creation of PDF documents based on form content submitted from ADF

  • Problem calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem in calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports.
    Basically, I'm trying to customise Dunning Letter program. The program which is submitted calls another program. I have customised the second program and added a call to a stored procedure which in turn calls XML Report Publisher.I have created a template and attached it to the second program as well.
    The procedure code is as follows.
    v_request_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST(application => 'AR'
    ,program => 'ARDLP_NON_SRS'
    ,description => 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate'
    ,sub_request => FALSE
    l_status := fnd_concurrent.WAIT_FOR_REQUEST
    ( REQUEST_ID => v_request_id,
    INTERVAL => 15,
    MAX_WAIT => 180,
    PHASE => l_phase,
    STATUS => l_status_code,
    DEV_PHASE => l_dev_phase,
    DEV_STATUS => l_dev_status,
    MESSAGE => l_message );
    v_xml_req_id := FND_REQUEST.submit_request(application => 'XDO',
    program => 'XDOREPPB',
              argument1 => v_request_id,
    argument2 => 'FLS DE AR Dunning Letter Print - German',
    argument3 => 603, -- changed 665 -- was 551,
    argument4     => NULL,
    argument5 => 'N',
    argument6     => 'RTF',
              argument7     => 'PDF');
    Now, there are two problems I'm facing...
    1. when the second program('Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate') gets called it executes this procedure ... logically the 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' should get called twice ... second time from the procedure. Its getting called multiple times .. as many as 15 - 20 times.
    2. The Xml Report Publisher program ultimately gets called but its erroring out with the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: No corresponding LOB data found :SELECT L.FILE_DATA FILE_DATA, DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(L.FILE_DATA) FILE_LENGTH, L.LANGUAGE LANGUAGE, L.TERRITORY TERRITORY, B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE DEFAULT_LANGUAGE, B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY DEFAULT_TERRITORY,B.TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.START_DATE START_DATE, B.END_DATE END_DATE, B.TEMPLATE_STATUS TEMPLATE_STATUS, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.DS_APP_SHORT_NAME DS_APP_SHORT_NAME, B.DATA_SOURCE_CODE DATA_SOURCE_CODE, L.LOB_TYPE LOB_TYPE FROM XDO_LOBS L, XDO_TEMPLATES_B B WHERE (L.LOB_TYPE = 'TEMPLATE' OR L.LOB_TYPE = 'MLS_TEMPLATE') AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME= :1 AND L.LOB_CODE = :2 AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME = B.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME AND L.LOB_CODE = B.TEMPLATE_CODE AND ( (L.LANGUAGE = :3 AND L.TERRITORY = :4 ) OR (L.LANGUAGE = :5 AND L.TERRITORY = :6) OR (L.LANGUAGE= B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE AND L.TERRITORY= B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY ) )
    I have checked from database that the XDO_LOBS/ XDO_TEMPLATES_B table has corresponding registration data.
    I don't know what's creating the problem.
    If anyone has customised the Dunning Letter program before or having any idea about this problem, please help me out ..
    Thanks

  • SQL Query as Item Source/Oracle Reports w/ HTML DB?

    I have successfully used a SQL Query as an item source in the past on several occasions. However, in this instance, every time I try to do this, I get the following error:
    Error ERR-1019 Error computing item default value: page=3 name=P3_TEST_ITEM.
    ORA-01460: unimplemented or unreasonable conversion requested ORA-02063: preceding line from [database_name]
    If I use the exact same query in creating a report region, the page displays fine and the query returns the correct data. Why might this be happening, and what can I do to fix it?
    Also - off the subject - is there a way to use HTML DB to deploy reports that are created in Oracle Reports Builder? I have created several employee productivity reports for supervisors and managers in HTML DB, which is great for allowing them to run them live and have fields as parameters for varying employees, date ranges, etc... but formatting them to be browser and printer friendly is an absolute nightmare so far. If I could create and format the reports in Reports Builder and then deploy them using HTML DB, while still being able to offer parameters to the user, that would be perfect. Is this possible?

    Here is my query:
    SELECT
    TO_CHAR((sum(decode(ef.production_function,'Y',ef.function_minutes+ef.function_ot_minutes))/60)/8, '9999999.99')
    FROM
    RLAPPLSG.EMPLOYEE_INFO@REMOTE_SERVER EI,
    RLAPPLSG.SC_EMP_FUNCTIONS@REMOTE_SERVER EF,
    RLAPPLSG.SC_EMP@REMOTE_SERVER E
    WHERE
    ( e.SC_EMP_NBR=ef.SC_EMP_NBR )
    AND ( ei.EMP_ID=e.EMP_ID )
    AND (
    ( trunc(( e.SC_DATE )) BETWEEN :P2_BEGIN_DATE AND :P2_END_DATE )
    AND (ei.EMP_MGRS_ID = :P2_SUPERVISOR_ID
    OR ei.EMP_ID = :P2_SUPERVISOR_ID)
    Every table and/or view that is referenced here is done so remotely. The column datatype breakdown is as follows:
    production_function - BOOLEAN
    function_minutes - NUMBER
    function_ot_minutes - NUMBER

  • New to oracle report builder

    Dear all;
    Please pardon me. I am new to oracle report builder and I am trying to accomplish the following. First and foremost please find my pl/sql queries below. Kindly note, all the queries have been tested and I just need to be able to input those queries into the report builder. Thank you.
    create or replace package test1 is
    type r_cursor is ref cursor;
    function report(company_name in varchar2) return r_cursor;
    end test1;
    create or replace package body test1 is
    function report(company_name in varchar2) return r_cursor as
    my_r_cursor r_cursor;
    begin
    if(company_name = 'ALL COMPANIES') THEN
    open my_r_cursor for
    select t.t_id, t.t_description from t1 t;
    return my_r_cursor;
    elsif(company_name != 'ALL COMPANIES') THEN
    open my_r_cursor for
    select t.t_id, t.t_description from t1 t
    where t.t_id = company_name;
    return my_r_cursor;
    end if;
    end;
    end test1;
    create table t1
    t_id varchar2(200) not null,
    t_description varchar2(250),
    primary key(t_id)
    insert into t1
      (t_id, t_description)

      ('CITI', 'PROFIT: 2.2Billion');
    insert into t1
      (t_id, t_description)

      ('GE', 'PROFIT: 1Billion');
    insert into t1
      (t_id, t_description)
    values
      ('JPMORGAN','PROFIT: 0');Now, I am trying to create a simple report in oracle report builder. The interface for generating for this report is basically, there is a dropdownlist where by the user picks a company name from the dropdownlist and clicks on the go button, this should then generate a report with the above query shown in the package. How can this be achieved? All help will greatly be appreciated.

    Hi,
    first of all you need strong typed ref cursor, oracle reports need to detect witch are the columns returned by your cursor.
    so first you create your package
    create or replace package test1
    as
    TYPE t_record IS RECORD ( company_number PLS_INTEGER--TABLE_NAME.COLUMN_NAME%TYPE
    , company_desc VARCHAR2(150)--TABLE_NAME.COLUMN_NAME%TYPE
    TYPE T_REF_CURSOR IS REF CURSOR RETURN t_record;
    procedure report(company_name in varchar2 ,cur_out OUT t_ref_cursor) ;
    end test1;
    show errors
    create or replace package body test1
    is
    procedure report(company_name in varchar2 ,cur_out OUT t_ref_cursor)
    is
    my_r_cursor T_REF_CURSOR;
    begin
    if(company_name = '1')
    THEN
    open my_r_cursor for
    select 1 as t_id, 'description' ast_description from dual
    else
    open my_r_cursor for
    select 2 as t_id, 'description2' as t_description from dual
    end if;
    end;
    end test1;
    show errors
    then, in your report you create a ref cursor query :
    function QR_1RefCurDS
    return test1.t_ref_cursor
    is
    C_return test1.t_ref_cursor;
    begin
         test1.report(1,C_return);
    RETURN(C_return) ;
    end;
    hope this helps you !

  • Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.

    I am running reports on the web through Forms using Run_Report_Object built in. I am using Oracle 9iAS Enterprise Edition Release 1(1.2.2.2.2), Forms 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18.3) and Reports 6i Patch 9 (6.0.8.18) using CGI implementation. Most reports are running fine, but I have one that produces 125 pages and we are getting the following messages in the browser:
    Error: The requested URL was not found, or cannot be served at this time.
    Oracle Reports Server CGI - Report Job was cancelled upon user request.
    However if you look at the Reports Server Queue Status thru the browser it shows that the report did finish, but it took 16 minutes. But the user gets the above message in their browser window.
    Is there a way to get the first page of the report to display, while the rest of the report finishes, so the browser window doesn't timeout and display the above error?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi ,
    There is no limit on the report run time. The most probable reason why you are getting the 'Report cancelled upon user request' message is the users might have hit the "cancel Report" button which is displayed when it is running in 'SYNCHRONOUS MODE'. do not hit that button as it will terminate the report. to increase the speed of returning the results by the report, try improving the sql that you use in the report, or if you have DBA rights try adding in INDEXES on the columns of the tables used by the report.
    Hope this helps

  • How can i convert oracle report in excel format using 8i

    hi,
    I want to convert oracle report in excel format using 6i reports. please give the solution with emp table.
    millons of thanks in advance.

    You'll have to use the destype DELIMITEDDATA to render your Report in CSV format. Then set the mime type to Excel. I don't know the exact syntax, so please do a search in metalink for "reports excel" for examples and more info.
