[AS][CS2] Working with a number of specified frames

b Hi all,
I'm using script labels to target specific text frames to work with (eg. Cap01, Cap03, Cap05).
I'd like to specify the set of text frames I want to work with in one line, like:
b set myCaps to text frame "Cap01" & text frame "Cap03" & text frame "Cap05"
But I can't work out the correct syntax.
So, I currently move each text frame to a new layer and then specify the set as every text frame of the new layer.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

You can get all the odd/even ones with a loop like this, but it's certainly not as simple as you were hoping for. Either one of these could be turned into a function pretty easily though--the second one you could pass lists of names to and get back the list of all matching labeled items pretty easily. At least then you wouldn't have to be tinkering with the physical layer of the item. That seems like it might bite you eventually...
Matching only odd frames:
set myList to {}
repeat with i from 1 to 9
if i mod 2 = 1 then
  set myList to myList & (every text frame whose label = ("Cap0" & i) as string)
end if
end repeat
Alternatively, you could use selection lists:
set selectionList to {"Cap01", "Cap02", "Cap05"}
set myList to {}
repeat with i from 1 to 9
set thisString to "Cap0" & i
if selectionList contains thisString then
  set myList to myList & (every text frame whose label = thisString)
end if
end repeat

  • Can i make this work with a number specified in the constructor?

    Hi everyone
    I posted a couple of days ago and i have managed to advance a bit since then.
    Here i have a class called "flower" and it draws a flower with two leaves and 12 petals using the classes "petal and "leaf".
    However, ideally i would like to be able to make this work with a number of petals specified in the constructor, not just 12.
    is this possible or do i need to rewrite the entire class?
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.geom.*;
    public class flower {
        private Shape circle;
        private Shape stem;
        public flower()   {
            circle = new Ellipse2D.Double(-25, -25, 50, 50);
            stem = new Line2D.Double(0.0, 0.0, 0.0, -200.0);
        public void paint(Graphics g) {
        Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D)g;
        g2.setPaint(Color.green);
        g2.setStroke(new BasicStroke(5)); // Line width 8 pixels
        g2.draw(stem);
        // Add the petals
        petal P = new petal(Color.red);
        // Scale, translate and rotate the petal into place.
        AffineTransform orig  = g2.getTransform();
        AffineTransform T = AffineTransform.getTranslateInstance(0.0, -25);
        for (int k = 0; k < 12; k++) {
          double angle = k*Math.PI/6.0;
          AffineTransform A =  AffineTransform.getScaleInstance(1.0, 1.0);
          A.preConcatenate(T);     // Scale, then rotate
          AffineTransform R = AffineTransform.getRotateInstance(angle);
          A.preConcatenate(R);     // Scale, translate and then rotate
          g2.transform(A);
          P.paint(g);
          g2.setTransform(orig);     // Restore original transform
          g2.setPaint(Color.yellow);
          g2.fill(circle);
          leaf L = new leaf();
          AffineTransform B = AffineTransform.getTranslateInstance(0.0, 0.0);
          B.translate(340, 425);
          B.scale(1.0, 1.0);
          B.rotate (Math.PI/6);
          g2.setTransform(B);
          L.paint(g);
          g2.setTransform(orig);     // Restore original
          leaf L1 = new leaf();
          AffineTransform C = AffineTransform.getTranslateInstance(0.0, 0.0);
          C.translate(285, 430);
          C.scale(1.0, 1.0);
          C.rotate (Math.PI/-6);
          g2.setTransform(C);
          L1.paint(g);
          g2.setTransform(orig);     // Restore original
    }I am tempted to make "flower into a class that extends "petal" would this make it easier for me to achieve my goal?
    Any help would be great
    Thanks Carl

    Your NewFlower class extends petal. You NewFlower constructor calls super( color, petnum ), so the petal constructor is invoked. In the petal constructor, you ignore petNum. You do nothing else in the NewFlower constructor, so petNum is ignored there as well.
    What makes you think that in this orgy of ignoring petNum, that any petNum variable will magically get set, or that your flower will now magically have the right number of petals?

    I had an iphone 4s and it worked nice with facetime and imessage using my phone number but  it was stolen on December so I buy a new iphone 4s using the same cellphone number  but now imessage and facetime does not work with my number, it only works with my apple ID.   Please Help me I speak Spanish so  if my English is not ok  I´m sorry about it.
    Do you think that apple has to   reset in their database of the old serial number attached with my phone number and that’s why I can´t activate imessage and facetime with my number in the new iphone 4s??

    I understand all of this Meg; that is why I bought an Iphone; but never expected my phone not even give a at least a 24 or even 12 hours....I work 12 hour shifts and also would expect to have to charge each night but not twice a day or more.  I am not always somewhere I can charge my phone.
    Your points are true; however it doesn't help me......

  • Will CS2 work with Apple's Mountain Lion?

    Will CS2 work with Apple's Mountain Lion?

    Hi,
    You might see errors such as "You can't open the application Adobe <App Name XXX> because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
    You might also like to visit this page http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/error-powerpc-applications-supported-photoshop.html for a similar scenario with Adobe Photoshop.

  • Does InDesign CS2 work with Snow Leopard

    I know, I know, I should be using CS4 but a client insists on sticking with CS2 and files made in newer versions aren't compatible with CS2.
    So, can anyone tell me if InDesign CS2 will work with Snow Leopard? It's only InDesign I'm worried about - I have current versions of Photoshop etc.
    Thanks
    Phil

    InDesign 4.0.5 is causing me real problems on Snow Leopard, and I'm considering rolling back to Leopard (which worked fine) unless there is a fix to this soon. As well as the disappearing text display problem that others have mentioned, InDesign is very hit and miss when it comes to exporting PDFs - often hanging during the process and then crashing. Error message is posted below. For me, this makes CS2 unusable, but I have a number of ongoing projects that have to remain in this format!

    My I Messges not working with my number

    Maybe it's because your number is not yet registered with the iCloud/iTunes account.

  • Working with many different formats/codecs/frame rates within one Sequence.

    Good Afternoon,
    As an editor for an ad agency I am being tasked with cutting a demo reel together. Nothing too difficult.
    The reel is to include video footage of past projects, going back a couple years or so. The footage that I will be given will undoubtably be in a variety of formats, codecs, frame sizes, frame rates, etc (all SD, though). Delivery is SD DVD.
    My question is this:
    What is the best way to set up my timeline for a barrage of clips with differing specs?
    Do I encode all the media assets FIRST to conform to my Sequence Settings? Or do I just deal with the large amounts of timeline rendering as I work with different formats and codecs? Or do I....?
    I am running FCP 5.1.4, so I don't have the Open Timeline feature going for me.
    I appreciate any advice and tips you can offer!
    Thanks!

    Your final format is NTSC SD DVD, so you're going to have to go to 720x480 at some point. This is what I would upscale to. Make sure your "client" knows that the 320x240 wmv's may not look to good in the final production.
    Personally I use MPEG Streamclip (an excellent FREE application that's part of many a pro's arsenal) for this kind of conversion and/or upscaling. It's not particularly intuitive (especially for upscaling) so read the manual.
    You may need to get hold of Flip4Mac or Episode for the wmv conversions.
    I would tend to convert to a lossless codec like Apple Uncompressed or Animation. You could try going to NTSC-DV but you're going to lose some quality initially and again when you do the final mpeg2 compression.
    Experiment.

  • BUG: Verizon iPhone Visual Voicemail Not Working with Ported Number

    I ported my number from ATT to Verizon with the new iPhone 5.
    Visual Voicemail keeps asking me to set it up with a password. Then it says unauthorized. I spent an hour on the phone with Verizon support. They said I had to wipe my phone and set it up as a new phone.
    I backed up, set up as new, went to Voicemail. It called my voicemail. I set up the account, and left a test voicemail. Visual Voicemail worked.
    Then I restored back to my iPhone backup, getting all my data, apps, and contacts back, and the Visual Voicemail doesn't think it is setup anymore.
    What gives??? Is this an Apple or Verizon issue? It works on a "new" setup phone, not a restored one???

    I found that this was an issue (when I setup my iPhone 5) was solved when I went in and reset the network settings.
    It seems that somehow the provider network settings weren't quite right:
    Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings
    After resetting the network settings, everything just worked again.
    Perhaps the same thing can correct the issue for you as well. (worth a shot)

  • IMessage and FaceTime not working with phone number.

    Hi guys,
    I've had this issue for days. My iMessage had been linked with my email. So I sign out of "my Apple ID" to enable me select my phone number as my preferred option for use. Unfortunately, I have my former phone number (which does not exist anymore) in grey and not my present phone number. So I'm stuck with my old contact and my email address for iMessage and FaceTime. I have tried toggling iMessage off and on, it keeps me on "waiting for activation" mode, deducts some airtime for SMS charge but still goes back to "iMessage unsuccessful".
    Guys what can I do to link my active phone number to my iMessage and FaceTime.

    Hello Walidou,
    I've gone through the text, thanks. But it doesn't give me a solution still. It says if after waiting for activation for 24hours it doesn't still work, then contact apple support. You see it still brings me back here.
    Infact, as I'm writing this my airtime is still being deducted as SMS is being automatically sent to some random number like "+447537410257"

  • HT5538 Hi there. I have tried everything to make iMessage and FaceTime to work with my number but it won't let me do it. I am moreover concerned as I have another sim forum my same carrier and it works fine with iMessage and FaceTime. I I really need help

    Hi I have tried all the tricks from the support to have iMessage and FaceTime running but it is impossible for me to activate these apps with my phone number. Problem is I have another sim from the same carrier and I am able to do it on that one.
    I am desperate for a help!
    Thanks a lot

    Can you make phone calls on the phone that won't activate?   Is it only iMessage and Facetime that isn't working?   What about data - can you access the internet?
    Your last statement didn't make much sense to me:  " I still can have the apps working but only from an email"
    Pls explain that clearly.

  • Working with large number of search results in struts/jsp application

    I'm developing a struts/jsp web application that returns upwards of
    30000 results obtained from a very complex schema and multiple queries
    to the database.
    We want the user to be able to paginate through the results, sort by
    several fields, add/drop columns and download in several formats. We
    don't expect heavy traffic but we do want it to be scalable.
    Up to now, I have been storing the results in a session ArrayList
    which can eat up a lot of memory. The queries take long to perform so
    I do not want to repeat them with every request.
    I would like to store in a single mysql temp table but I have read
    that when the connection ends, the table is dropped. I understand that
    creating a database Connection as a session variable is not a good
    practice.
    This is not a unique problem - I was hoping someone else has some
    insight into the best way to proceed.
    Thanks

  • Problems working with non drop and drop frame DVCPRO HD material in project

    I am having playback problems with my non drop frame HDV material. It stutters.
    All of our projects up to this point have been shot in drop frame. During our last shoot however the Bcam was recorded in non drop. I loaded both the non drop bcam tapes as non drop and the drop frame Acam tapes as drop. All of the drop frame Acam material plays back fine in the source viewer and the timeline. The non drop Bcam material seems to randomly stutter in the source viewer, or causes the system to serve a "dropped frames warning" in the timeline.
    Is there a bug with fcp 5.1.2 about mixing non drop and drop frame material in a project. Or is this not possible? They are the same frame rate.
    I have exported the non drop clips in a drop frame timeline and re-imported them as drop frame clips - thus correcting the problem. Is this the best solution?
    All of the material was loaded thru a kona card as 1080i60 DVCPROHD 29.97
    I had no problems capturing the material as long as I used the corrrect firewire setting (ndf vs df).
    Anyone have a problem like this? I would greatly appreciate a response.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    The camera can record 60i, and 30F:
    "HDV 1080, 50i/60i/30F/25F Recording and Playback capable"
    Look at the clips...look at their frame rates. What do they say? Is one 59.94? Is the other 29.97?
    You would never need to render if you mixed NDF and DF footage. The footage runs at the same speed, on the TC numbers are different. But, you would need to render if your footage had different frame rates. LOOK AT THE CLIPS.

  • CO27, MF60 with serial number

    Hi Everyone,
    Does anybody know whether we can post goods issue for component with serial number using t-code CO27 and MF60... if can, how?
    I know MB1A and MB1B works with serial number.
    Best Regards,
    Bin

    Hi Bin,
    We can not post goods issue for component with serial number using t-code CO27 and MF60.
    In case of Serial number, auto GI (using backflush) / auto GR (indicator in PSP or routing key) does not work.
    Automatic goods movements are not permitted for materials that require serial numbers. However, if an automatic goods movement is specified for a material that requires a serial number then an error record is written. This error record can be displayed using the reprocessing function but it cannot be posted. Error records for materials that require serial numbers must be deleted manually. The goods movement must then be executed manually in inventory management.

  • Win7-64 Photoshop CC blank Save As dialog, then crash, when working with video / frame animations

    Hi, I recently updated to CC from CS6 and am having issues when working with PSDs containing video layers, or are set up as frame animations:  When attempting to Save As, the dialog will be completely blank except for the Save and Cancel buttons.   If I press cancel, then return to Save As, CC then often crashes.
    Here is the Error Event from Event Viewer:

    So far I am only having these issues if I have been working with video layers and then frame animations.  Frame animations in particular seem to cause instability as I can often work with video layers all day without a problem.  Then if I import video frames to layers, or open a PSD containing a frame animation, the Save As may not necessarily work.
    Sometimes closing and restarting Photoshop will allow me to save again, but then sometimes a whole system reboot is required.  It is only temporary though.
    I am not running antivirus software or other apps aside from what starts at boot.

    Frustrating that this thread has petered out, since I'm having the exact same issue. Did you ever find a way to improved stability?
    Also of note, the issue followed me across machines. Two weeks ago I purchased a new machine, figured if that didn't solve the problem nothing would... It didn't. :\
    The only similar factors are that the machines both are 64bit Windows 7 (a fresh OEM install on the new box) and have nVidia-brand graphics cards. (Again, though - not the SAME graphics card, picked up a new one with the new machine.) No drive cloning was involved: this is completely new hardware, a fresh factory install of Windows 7, different antivirus (went from AVG to Avast), and new download of Photoshop CC from CreativeCloud.
    Looks like our event details are quite similar, too.
