*.AS linkage in project

Hello,
I'm migrating from AS2 to AS3 and since there are so many changes I decided to start applying some good practices like the use of classes instead of code in timeline.
I have one FLA (container) that imports some AS files (with classes, functions, global vars, etc) and in this "container" I will load some other SWFs. So my question is: If these imported SWFs need to use other classes should these classes be imported/called to these SWFs or to the main "container"?
Might be a stupid question but I can find any resources on this

OK, that covers security and sandbox issues... It helps but didn't answer my question.
My doubt (maybe I wasn't quite clear) is more about coding structure
Picture this:
The container loads a SWF and that SWF calls a constructor to handle some external data. It also accesses some vars shared with the container (or main app if you prefer) -- my question is: the constructor or functions should be imported and called from the SWF or from the main container? Is there any performance enhancement or best practice to apply in these cases?

Account Assignment Category A is for the Direct Acquisition of Asset through MM. Here consumption posting is A. And stock is plant stock. There is not at all linkage with Project in that case.
As stated, You need to use PS account assignment category & Cost Element cat. 90 for budget availability control

I'm researching on the above topic, since we are trying to implement p cards on asset purchasing. I could not find any articles on the possibility or the configuration of it. If this is possible could anyone please tell me the detailed steps of how to do that?

Flash CC Canvas project - No longer able to set the export Linkage?

Now that Toolkit has been integrated into Flash, it appears a Library Linkages have been somewhat removed...
You can no longer right click and set a linking for an object in the Library, yet you can mannually edit the Linkage box and it works. It worked when tool kit so why has this been disabled? Having to dump everything onto the stage in order to get access to the object is no the best way of doing things, you have to then mannually enter an 'instance' name for everything, before you could right click all the items in the library and select export. It would hten use the library objects name as the linkage.
Will this feature return, I see no reason for it to be removed?

I still don't see why it was removed. By removing the feature it does simplify the process but it also hampers the process...
In my example, say I have 100 movie clips, all of these have animations and timeline code; 'stop()', gotoAndPlay()' etc etc.
So under the new "simplified" system, I have to add all 100 clips to the stage, distrute them so I can select them and then manually give them all instance names so that I can interact with them in code, otherwise they become instance1, instance2 etc which i unreliable. Alternativly, I have to edit the Linkage label for each clip in the library manually. I don't think anyone would enjoy this either of these tasks.
The other alternative would be to use the 'export linkages' in an "ActionScript" project but if I were to then copy them back into the Canvas project, all my code would be commented out. I would then have to go through all 100 clips re enabling the code, again another horrible task.
Comparing this to the old way; I would select the 100 clips in the library, right click and tick export. Simple.
This is pretty annoying and I think disabling this feature has not been truly thought out.
I would love to see it return and can only hope it will in a future update.

Is there anyway to copy a selection of slides from one project to another and keep the linkage?

I've created a 'template' type project, with a selection of slides all containing styles of lessons. Some of these lessons are set up in a way that they use several slides, linked to one another in one way (or several ways). The linkage is conatined with selectable objects on each slide (e.g. clicking this object will jump the user to the 5th slide)
Basically, the linkage is important to the set up. But when i take these slides from the template project and create a new project with them, the linkage all disappears and defaults to 'go to next slide', thus screwing up the setup of the lesson.
I tried to create the template as a means of saving time of design with the upcoming creation, becuase these will be used over and over again. I could manually link up each slide again every time i bring them into a new project, but before accepting that I thought it worth asking anybody if they know how to copy in a sequence of slides and have them keep their linkage?

So effectively there is no workaround?
Shame there isn't an import item in Captivate dedicated to inter-Captivate projects.
The only thing I can think of is to work over the top of the 'template' project, keep the slides needed for the lesson i'm owrking on, delete the rest, then rename/save as something new.

Project to po linkage at table

Hi friends,
i need to create a customized vendor payment report for our client, whereby there will be all the details captured in the report like material number, purch. requisition, purchase order, GR details, IR details, and the payment status details, which will be mapped from FI module.
here the report should have the project id as the mandatory input parameter, along with the vendor code, with the other fields like PO numbers, document date, etc., which will be optional fields.
hence i need to know the logic of how i will be able to fetch the PO numbers, based on the input project id and vendor code.
please help.

Hi,
Using the project id or project number = proj-pspid as an input in the proj table, get the value of the current project number for this project.
Now enter the current project number in prps table, as an input to get all the list of wbs elements created.
This you can ask your technical resource to fetch in internal tablea at the time of report development. Now using these wbs elements as an input in the ekkn table, you will get the output of all the po and po line item details, for that particular wbs element. Thus you will be able to fetch the po numbers from the project id as an input parameter in the report.
so you will require 3 tables to get the required details.
one more thing, in case you may also need this - while fetching the po line items for the report, do remember to consider the deletion indicator, before producing the same in your report. this can be done by using the loekz field in the ekpo table after passing the po and po line item as an input in this table.

Wrong images appearing in project window / timeline

I'm doing a SIMPLE slideshow project for a frient. I've got a file folder of images that I imported into CS5. In the timeline the correct images are not appearing when placed from the timeline. Even in the Project folder most of the images are not what they are in explorer. Most, when opened in the Source Monitor are the correct image, even though the wrong image is appearing on the timeline, but even there many are not correct. What is happening is that the image of about 15 of the 105 imported images are appearing in the place of all of the other images. It's like something is cached, and the appropriate linkages aren't being made.
What's even more frustrating is that the ONLY effect applied to all of the impages is Scale to Frame. There are no transistion. Nothing.
What simple solution is there for images not importing into CS5 correctly?

Thanks for that suggestion. It DOES work! However, it is time consuming since I'm working with over 1,000 images. Instead, I was able to discover the following solution:
The culprit was the magic checkbox under Edit -> Preferences -> Media for "Write XMP ID to Files on Import." This setting writes a GUID to all media imported into Premiere for use with all Adobe apps. I actually found the reference to it in an After Effects forum. I didn't fully understand exactly why this is useful when I'm only working with still images. My guess is that somehow these GUIDs became crossed over.
I disabled this checkbox, deleted all references to the affected media, and deleted all cache files, including all files under C:\Users\Username\AppData\Adobe\Common\Media Cache. I then reimported the originals of my source files from my network attached storage (SO thankful that I moved them offline without touching them). Viola! Everything works.
It was critical that I made copies of all of my data to my NAS. Adobe actually writes this GUID for the XMP ID to the file itself, which changes the modification date of the actual file. So, I guess the error will follow the file wherever it goes (in an Adobe application) unless it's resaved in PhotoShop to correct the error. Luckily, the files on my NAS were untouched by Adobe, since I made copies to work with locally. Only the local files were affected. Once I disabled the checkbox, then Adobe no longer attempts to modify files on import and leaves them intact.

Flash builder 4.7 not treating External linkage correctly

Hi,
I am refactoring the project I am working to external link assets(flash assets), so I can load them on runtime.
This works in Flash builder 4.6 and you can observe a smaller .swf than if they are merged into code.
In FB 4.7 However it seems to ignore external linkage resulting in same size .swf as merged into code setting and I can run it fine without loading any external swf.
This seems to be yet another bug in FB 4.7 or its compiler, unless I am missing something.
Ps.
I am building the project with -frame parameter which seems to be the way to use a preloader with the new compiler:

The preloader is on frame 1, splash screens on frame 2 and 3 and rest of the project on frame 4.
Is this a known bug by any chance & or are there any ways around it.

If you adjust the linkage on the directory ./export/normal/swc to external, on the web project it makes absolutely no difference. While in FB 4.6 or using ant build it is smaller and requires a swf to be loaded at runtime.
That being said, I am now in the process of seeing if the method we are trying to use will actually work, since the iOS packager refuses to make a release build if it cannot find the class definitions at compile time.
The idea is basically that the compiler uses external linkage to flash assets, and then depending if the device is retina or not it loads the appropriate swf.

Is it possible to link data across different/multiple PWA sites leveraging Master Project with the Subprojects feature?

A couple different questions /similar scenarios
1) Is it possible with Project Server 2010 to have several sites (http://server/pwa1 and
http://server/pwa2 for example) communicate and build a Master Project at a third (or X) site (http://server/pwa3)
2) Is it possible with Project Server 2010 to have several sites (http://server/pwa1 and
http://server/pwa2 for example) communicate and build a Master Project at one of the original sites (http://server/pwa1 (for example))
OR is there a better way to do this/more preferred way to do this.

http://server/pwa98) for each division VPs (and specific other people). These two sites would only allow specific user's project files to be viewed by each other...
Can their project files have linkages between the two project sites (/pwa99 and /pwa98)? Meaning if user1 logs in to /pwa99 can he see a project file (given that they have permission) from /pwa98 in the same instance?
3b-2) Can they see the project file in ProjPro and/or PWA ???
3c) is it possible to have:
+ /pwa100 (pres)
++/pwa99 & /pwa98 (two vps)
+++/pwa97 & /pwa96 & /pwa95 & /pwa-etc (minions)
each rolling up to the next level (level 3 rolls up to level 2 which can roll up to level 1)

I agree with Dale. Having multiple sites will make this difficult to set up.
Not knowing how your Custom Groups/Categories have been set up, have you looked into using the "Project Permissions" feature to share projects. These permissions are 'additive' to the category permissions, so you could start out with people looking at the
projects they are authorized to via categories, and then let them share/add people as needed basis. This will also satisfy the requirement of not-loading the projects with resources..
And finally, the department and categories need not align, except that when projects from one dept are shared t another dept resource, the visibility of custom fieds will be affected.

From my understanding of this issue the users are separated by department and can only see specific projects; however, when they try to share departments between users (so they can see their projects (dept a sees dept b projects)) this works - but there
is a bigger issue/main issue.
main issue: when dept B adds a new project dept. A cannot see the new project in dept B.
This can be eliviated by removing the user/s and re-adding them to the permission structure of the deptment but overall doing this several times based on user/s and projects being added it gets to be cumbersome and just plain annoying.
Any help/additional thoughts would be great

Library project errors and imports of projects using them

So this is something that I have put up with in FB for a long time now, but I decided to try doing some research today to see if there is a workaround as it is very annoying. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything.
I attempted to file a bug/feature request, but it turns out that for some unknown reason FB is the only Adobe application that gives a link to another url (http://bugs.adobe.com/flex/) and, today at least, the link is dead so I have to post here instead.
The problem is with library projects (which I love by the way). I use them a great deal and for more than just creating standalone APIs. As do many others, I like to have the core of many of my cross-platform projects in a library so that I can create other ‘harness’ projects for different runtimes and use the same bulk code. This way I can just write code in each master project that is particular to that runtime be it air or web or whatever - this is a great bit of functionality that I would really miss were it not there.
As a result of this workflow however, I am often working in the library project directly in order to update all versions of a project. The problem arises when there is an error in the library project. When this happens, all the projects reading from the library lose all linkages to the swc and as a result the problem tab fills up with hundreds of problems that don’t exist, because as far as those projects are now concerned the swc no longer exists.
Now I understand why this happens but surely FB could be made to understand what is going on and override (what I assume is) the compiler’s behaviour, and just not display these errors.
This whole thing is exacerbated by (and may not even be that big a problem where it not for) the fact that I am forced to turn off 'build automatically' due to the 4.7 crash bug that has been reported here numerous times. Because of this I tend to write large chunks of code between each compile so I don't instantly know what has broken.
Please save the feature that I enjoy so much by either getting FB to deal with the situation better or by fixing the crash bug so I can use ‘build automatically’ again… or god forbid… fix both!! I can dream. J
If anyone has any good tips regarding this please let me know.

Can I then delete the project from the hard drive (as it's now in the library?) or will that delete the whole thing forever?
That depends on how you did import the projects. If your images are referenced they might still be stored in the previous projects, but if your library is managed, then it will be save to delete the projects you already imported.

How to link CRM opportunity to R/3 projects through object relationship

Hello everyone,
i have this new development to link CRM opportunity with R/3 projects ( table PROJ ). as user creates the opportunity in CRM in relationships tab he should be able to see the R/3 projects as part of search help when he select create relationship -> projects. i have manged to get the project data from R/3 to CRM through middleware and search help is also showing list of all the projects. problems arises when i try to save the relationship by pressing save button. it gives me error messsage that
'Project with the number SI090100000000000 does not exist ==> Interlinkage is not created'
Please help me how to maintain this linkage.

Present I am working for a project where the same requirement that what you had in one of your project and did successfully. Let me explain about it,
Opportunities will be created in CRM and Projects will be created out side CRM (Project systems) now I have to link this projects information to the corresponding opportunities in CRM.
For this, I was knew we have to set up "Object relationship profile" that is it.
But once I red this thread theoretically I got confidence, the requirement can be achieved by following your way, but here I have the below doubts
1. How to replicate CProjects to CRM from ECC?? (Present middleware set up is working fine (BPs and Products, and etc. replication is happing fine)
2. ITS (PPM URl) is already provided by PPM team and working fine (I have tested using Transaction launcher), in this case can I use that ITS URL?

Budget Availability control and Assigned Value in Project

Hi,
Project is so structured that it is similar to the product structure. Assume a simple case with two level BOM where a sub assembly M1 includes another sub assembly M2.
In project, these two sub assemblies are assigned under two different WBS elements W1 and W2 respectively where hierarchically W1 is assigned under W2.
After release we have two Production Order P1 and P2 account assigned to W1 and W2 respectively.
Assume M2 stnd price is 100 and M1 stnd Price is 150.
My process output ultimately is only M1 so I would prefer to give a Budget of 150 Rs. However, since P1 and P2 production Orders are accoun assigned, a total 100+150 =250 Rs is showing up under assigned value and error of Budget over run is being encountered.
One solution can be to give budget of 250 Rs, which not logical as I am producing only M1.
We tried by un flagging Additional and Assign funds in plan indicators for Order category 20 and 10 in OPSV. But that did not help.
Once P2 prod order is confirmed, the assigned value for W2 is becoming to actual cost of P2 and remains even after setting TECO and Settling P2. It becomes Zero only when W2 is removed from acct assignment of P2, which again can not be a solution as WBS and Prod Order will loose the linkage.
We desire avaialbility control to verify only against the actual cost Project. No assigned value should be considered.
Need your help to resolve it.

Thanks for the valuable input.
As you rightly said we can not produce M1 without M2. But budget has to be only 150 Rs. Because
Cost M1 = Cost M2 + other mat Cost in assly + Assly operations Cost.
Cost M1 = 100 + 10 (assume) + 40 = 150 Rs.
Physically I am Producing only M1. So my budget would be atmost the cost of the item that is 150 Rs.
But in project we had to assign M1 and M2 under two diff WBS elements because it takes considerable amount of time to completed entire qnty structure i.e BOM and Routing of M1 and then release. Till them M2 has to wait for M1 BOM and Routing to be completed. In order again time , M1 is assigned under W2 , W2 is released and in MRP W2-M1 BOM explodes and manufacturing begins.
When M1 bom gets ready, it is assigned under W1 and then W1 will be released. Duplication of Prod Orders are taken care.
However, by using exempt cost elements feature I think we can resolve the above.
Will update once I do my experiments on this.

How to avoid Linkage Error in JAVA Mapping

1.Created the Project , Package and then class (Included the logic)
2. Included 1 JSON Jar file into my project and the Added to build path.
3.Exported the project as Archive File and saved in desktop
4.Imported into SAP PO system as Imported Archive
5.Could not observe the JSON jar file which i used as referenced JAR in NWDS
6.Tested in OM after referencing the JAVA class and found the above error.
I have JDK 5, 6 and 7 present in my local desktop and I am trying to export the compiled code using both JAVA SE 1.6 and 1.5 in NWDS seperatly after going several discussions.
Can any one hep me with the screenshots and tell me how to include all the reference jar files in exported project..

Dear Anand,
I did exactly as you shared. As the JSON jar has number of classes, then in OM all the Classes had to be assigned. Then the linkage error went.
But in execution , it shows a new error that all the classes of the JSON jar has to be implemented with interface StremTransformation or AbstractTransformation.
I assume in the Operation Mapping I will use only 1 class as JAVA Class. Anyway I am attaching the document with navigation.
Do we have any other alternative??
Please rename the extension of the document by remove .txt

External .swf runtime linkage .pngs AS3

Flash can compress .png files like Photoshop can compress
.jpg files better than any other tool hands down.
I have 77 .png files that are 1.8 .megs on my c: drive after
I imported them and setting the file compression under the "File
> Publish Settings" to 75% for jpg and published the .swf with
all the .png on the stage the file size is 350K that's about 20% of
the original file size of the .pngs downloaded file by file with 77
separate request.
I can create linkage in the shared .swf and test the movie
with code in the shared .swf to add the movieclip holders for each
.png to the stage but when I load the shared .swf into the main
.swf Flash acts like it can't create the classes based on the
linkage I setup or that the MovieClip linkage doesn't exist.
I tried a test to have the shared .swf with all the .pngs and
linked movieclips to add the assets to it's own stage and it works
fine but that means a lot of my code and logic is included in the
shared .swf that the designers need to add .pngs to. It's
unfortunate AS3 sucks but I'm just about done with the project if I
knew what a battle AS3 was going to be I would have stayed with AS2
my next projet will be AS2 no question non at all. Anyway I setup
"class" linkage identifier for each .png with a movieclip holder
for each image. The 20% of the size for the pngs and one request
vs. 77 separate request makes it worth the extra effort of
importing the images, creating a holder movieclip with linkage but
the main .swf that loads the shared .swf with all the assets and
linkage can't see or create the assets like the shared .swf can
when I test it.
We need to have the main .swf get a handle of the linked .png
assets and place them in the main .swf to load the assets to
different parts of the main .swf. It's cute that the shared .swf
can add the linked assets to it's own stage but not too useful.
Also the way we deploy we cannot roll out a new release/build to
update the .pngs but we can upload a new .swf to the asset server
so the .pngs need to be in a separate .swf. I can get the shared
MovieClip to add the linked assets to it's own stage when testing
and when loading my problem is the main .swf that loads the shared
.swf cannot create instances of the classes that are exported for
runtime sharing using linkage.
If it is possible I would like to know how the heck you get a
handle on a linked asset in an externally loaded .swf. Preferably
without creating my own prototyped insane class consisting of mega
libraries of external .as files. Just a way to reference MovieClips
holding pngs that have linkage and are setup for runtime sharing.
It really shouldn't be this hard it's a simple task in AS2. I'm not
looking for a coding competition or some wild class to do the job I
want a few lines of code to create an instance of a class then
reference to the linkage/MovieClip holding the .png to addChild it
into a target movieclip.

I solved it I'm loading 77 embedded assets in an external
.swf that compresses 77 .png images without loosing quality it
works great.
