AS3 Books for development of Audio Applications

Hello All,
I want to make some audio mixers similar to sound editing
program with a timeline etc.
Please recommend me some books that talk about all this
stuff.
Thanks

I can't think of any specific books, but I tend to buy
everything from friendsOfEd line of flash and flex books by APress.
The downloadable code examples almost always work and the books
keep my attention.
They also touch on more advanced topics with enough detail to
get you ready for some deep programming if that is what you are
interested in.

Step-by-Step guide for developing a ADF application, does it exist?
    Hi there,
At our company we recently begun working on a project using Oracle ADF with
UIX. We got the Oracle JDeveloper 10g handbook and we did a 5 day Oracle ADF
course. A good way to start the project I think.
One thing that bothers me though, is that I cannot find a simple clean example
how to manipulate a record in the DB, going through all steps of MVC. I tried
this forum, the books we got and google. It usualy explains a small portion
of the steps needed, but never a complete example.
I know people will probably say you can design what you want in various ways
and that's its all up to the developer, this is also the power of ADF that it
    can be very flexible.
However it would be nice to have a step-by-step example how to be able to insert,
edit and delete a record. Showing all the steps that have to be made in the BC4J,
struts and UIX, including creating triggers, seq, autocommitting etc.
I think ADF is pretty complicated, therefore having a step-by-step example guide
(design pattern) would be very handy for a beginner like me.
Do such guides exist, are there developers who created such a guide for themselves?
Would other developers find such a guide useful? I'm curious about everybody's
    opinion.
A good example of what I mean by guide can be found here

Have a look at the ADF Workshop - it doesn't use UIX rather it uses JSP but I think it will give you the basics.

Then have a look at the toy-store demo and the new ADF Case manual:

Can somebody tell me any good book or e-book for Developer 6i(beginner's level)? Is there any link to Developer 6i?

Also look at Demo forms for 6i
The forms 6i demo is downloaded from oracle website:

  • Oracle Solutions for development of enterprise application

Can anyone tell me what my options are in the Oracle world for developing an enterprise application, and what would be needed for deployment?

It appears to me that for a Forms application you HAVE to purchase the Enterprise Edition of the Application server because it is the only edition that has the Forms (and Reports) services, which is needed for a Forms application. This is priced at 30,000 per processor.
Whereas, all you need for a J2EE application is the Java Edition of Oracle's Application Server which is 5,000 per processor.
    Is my assessment correct?

  • Tools for Developing Rich Web Applications

What tools are others using to Develop Web applications
against BW 3.5? I have a few years of experience developing web applications using Visual Studio .NET and C#, but the .net PDK is not an option in our current environment.
I was thinking that writing jsp's would give me the flexibility I needed to develop Rich web applications, but being new to SAP BW I am not sure.
I am looking for tools in which I can control result sets, write logical code based on users information to filter and return data.
    Please list technologies and Languages.

Hi Jimmy.  As it relates to SAP,  you can use a couple different technologies.   JSP on the java side, or BSP on the ABAP side will allow you to do pretty much anything you want.  It allows you to use HTML and javascript and also HTMLB.   You could also use Web Dynpro.  Web Dynpro is SAP's new UI strategy.  It is designed to help you create business transactions, so the UI elements are stardard and cannot be modified.  But its cool, because you drag/drop your ui elements in the layout.  Web Dynpro allows you to create robust web applications without coding the UI and allows you to focus on the business logic.  Of course there is some coding to handle UI, and flow, but not as much as when you are developing JSP or BSP.

  • Which is the best and user freindly IDE for developing Java GUI application

Please advice me if there is any good IDE for developing all kind of Java applications.
I m confused about which IDE to use.
I have Searched on Net also. and most of the answers i found was for JBuilder and JBoss.
But cant confirm until u guys suggest me.
Because i think this is the best place to ask questions about java.
    Please advice

If you're developing JSPs and Servlets....
I've found that using Eclipse (which is free) coupled with the MyEclipse plug-in (an advanced J2EE specific plug-in which costs $29.99USD/year) was the best for me. I've tried several free J2EE Eclipse plug-ins, didn't like them. Wasn't a big fan of NetBeans either, but I liked it tons better than the other Eclipse plug-ins.
Therefore, IMHO for free I'd go with NetBeans, for a small fee I'd go with Eclipse/MyEclipse plug-in.
If you are new to J2EE but not to Java, you may want to consider going straight to JSF and Sun's Java Studio Creator. This is not free, but the fee is one-time and development is (mostly) visual using Java Studio Creator.

  • [T410/510] Using Thinkpads for Prof. Audio Applications? - Why This **bleep** Ricoh Chipset?

    Hi.
I've read that the T410/510 Thinkpads might have problems with DPC latency. I want to buy one of these models and use them for professional audio using external Firewire audio interfaces.
Hence I'm dependant on low DPC latency.
Here's a tool for DPC latency measurement (no installation required):
    http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml
Are models with Intel HD graphic less prone to latency problems than those with dedicated Nvidia graphics?
    Thanks!
PS: Just edited the title, as I'm still concerned about the Ricoh chipset (see below).

    Hello, first post here
I bought my first thinkpad laptop about a month ago: Thinkpad T510 i5 540 2.53 ghz. Came installed with windows 7. I upped the ram from stock 4gb to 8gb.
I use it for work/word processing, and then at my leisure for electronic music (ableton live, and now I am trying out Presonus Studio One because it is a 64 bit system)
I noticed that when I played my soft-synth instrument VST's, which require continuous audio streaming, that I was getting crackling audio artifacts.
AT first I thought my CPU was getting hit. I went through a lot of the tweaks listed on the Black Viper site, which I have used in the past on XP builds with some noticeable improvement: http://www.blackviper.com/Windows_7/servicecfg.htm
I also just basically tidied up the computer: no bloatware, just the apps that I need, etc - still getting crackles. So I opened up task manager and it turns out the CPU is generally running along quite smoothly, under 8% at idle and with my more intensive programs barely ever going past 35%. SO what's the deal?
A friend suggested that the crackling was due to DPC latency issues. I used DPC latency checker, and sure enough I get red bars every 5th bar or so - no good.
SO then I went in device manager, made sure all devices were updated, and then proceeded to disable any devices that I absolutely did not need. Using a usb audio interface (Native Instruments Audio 8), so no need for the onboard audio, disabled the camera, etc
As researched on other websites, I set the NVIDIA graphics to just operate at the most watered-down level. I then installed some kind of driver (sorry, don't remember what it was, Intel something or other). Now when I click on the NVIDIA menu it takes me to the less flashy Intel menu page and asks me if I want to keep the same basic settings as NVIDIA ( I did). I don't know if this means I have something like "dual drivers" for videos installed - my intent was to get the NVIDIA one of in case it is the culprit, but now I'm scared to uninstall anything NVIDIA because I don't know what will happen on a laptop - will I get a black screen?
I was also  a little gunshy about disabling any USB devices because I'm using all available USB ports.
In any case, any idea what could be causing this latency issue? The computer is fast and lovely but there is clearly an issue with crackling during audio playback during music production..... I would love to get this computer to be a
digital audio workstation for the casual producer, and the tweaks I made provided some improvement - nevertheless I get intermittent, unacceptable crackles.

  • Which is Adobe product to be used for developing iPAD(IOS) applications that support PDF edit on the

    Question:
We would like to know if LiveCycle ES 8.0 supports development of applications for IOS devices like iPAD,...
Our requirement is to build applications that opens PDF on an iPAD, let the user edit and save the PDF.
If not, which other Adobe product does?
    Thanks,
    Murali

If you want to add text as comments, then a form created in Acrobat (Acroform) will work in Adobe Reader for iOS. It does not support forms created in LiveCycle Designer (XFA). There are also other PDF viewers that support Acroforms and commenting. So you don't need to create an application, just documents (PDF forms) that can be opened in an existing application (PDF viewer) that supports forms and commenting.
If you want to edit/add text that is part of the regular page contents of an existing PDF, I'm not aware of anything on iOS that does that and I don't think Adobe has anything that will help you develop an app that will.

Just remember that this book is for JC 2.1 not 2.2.1. I have still found this book good for explaining the fundamentals of Java Card development. It just doesn't cover all of the JC 2.2.x API's.

  • Could APEX be used for development of a General Ledger system?

    Hi All,
I am interested in developing a "light" web-based erp system for small sized companies for a vertical market. This system should be composed of General Ledger, Inventory & Payables functional areas. I just want to know if APEX could be used for developing applications of this kind. Do you believe that APEX is a mature platform in order ro be useful for development of complex applications? I'm very impressed by this platform but I do not have the necessary experience in order to decide if I could use APEX for more complex and demanding apps.
    Thank you very much,
    George Papageorgiou

Technically speaking Apex can handle anything other frameworks..etc can do. I think your target market will determine whether Apex is the correct choice or not.
Larger companies will want to go with an established ERP system like Oracle Financials, SAP, Costpoint..etc. So if you are aiming at a mid to small sized company, they may have a much smaller budget for such a system. If you are planning to make it a SAAS and host the solution yourself, I think Apex would be a good fit. If you are planning on selling the software for a local installation at the customer site, it may not be the best fit due to its coupling with the Oracle database. Personally I wouldn't want to put my entire financial set of data on someone else's server, but thats just me.
In my own opinion, a good ERP or 3rd party COTS product does not dictate to you which database you need to use, but instead supports multiple. Apex lives inside the Oracle database, so your customers have to run Oracle. For larger shops, it is not an issue, but for smaller shops, they may want to use mysql or something similar. Now people here will say "But Oracle XE is free!". This is true, but it is also almost 6 years old, completely unsupported by Oracle, and not patched. So I wouldn't stake my entire success on it.
So again it really will depend who you are going after, whether you will host the solution, and whether you think the cost/skill level of Oracle will be a barrier to your customers.
