The following will automatically install the Oracle UEK2 kernel on your RHEL 6 installation, download required softare and prepare the system for the Oracle 11gR2 database installation. And finally install the latest software patches.
<pre>
su - root
cd /etc/yum.repos.d
mv rhel-source.repo rhel-source.repo.disabled
wget http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-ol6.repo
sed -i "s/DEFAULTKERNEL=kernel/DEFAULTKERNEL=kernel-uek/g" /etc/sysconfig/kernel
yum -y install oracle-rdbms-server-11gR2-preinstall.x86_64
sed -i "s/Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server/Oracle Linux Server/g" /boot/grub/grub.conf
yum -y update oracle-logos oraclelinux-release-6Server
shutdown -r now
</pre>
The procedure will most likely void your Red Hat support.

  • ASMLIB BY REDHAT

    Hi,
i've read, that REDHAT is now develloping and maintaining an ASM driver for REDHAT 6.
Is there anybody using this driver ?
how to obtain this driver ?
Is this driver working fine ?
    Thank's

ASMLib is not required for ASM to function, but depending on your preference, practice and  environment, can make managing your ASM devices more user friendly than configuring the cryptic Udev subsystem. If you are reply on Multipath, you will however have to blacklist devices since ASMLib does not provide fail-over of device paths.
Sorry, I also have no experience with the ASMLib driver provided by RedHat, but here is some more information about it available at the following links, which could be useful:
    https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHEA-2014-0152.html
If you are looking for confirmation that there aren't any problems with the kmod-oracleasm pacakge, perhaps the following might do:

  • ASMLIB for RHELAS3.0

Does the continued absence of ASMLIB for RHEL AS 3.0 mean that automatic storage management is unavailable for this platform?
I have found very little mention of anyone using ASM on linux. Does the installation of Oracle on the ext3 file system remain the most common installation? I found it interesting, for example, that the file system install is the only installation type mentioned in guides such as on puschitz.com

    Can you help me?
I use RHAS 2.1 and my system didn't recognize raw device.
    [root@node2 root]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk vol1 /dev/raw/raw20

    When I use /dev/sdd1 as a vol1 disk:
    [root@node2 root]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk vol1 /dev/sdd1
Marking disk "/dev/sdd1" as an ASM disk [  OK  ]
all is Ok... but I can't create a diskgroup from a ASM instance:

  • Asmlib for solaris

    Hi experts
what is the location to download asmlib for solaris
    thanx

and you don't **need** asmlib on linux. I find it just gets in the way and performance is a bit slower when in use. Just my observation. YMMV.

  • Configure BPMJ2EE 10.3.1 for Redhat Linux

install BPM J2EE 10.3.1 for Redhat Linux and weblogic server 10.3 for linux in Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.
The oracle DB is installed in Windows 2003 server sp1 of another machine.
When I configure the BPM, it is failed at about 70%.
Mush I install weblogic server and BPM and config the BPM as root?

    Hi YE,
If you are deploying BPM on a Weblogic Server you'll find your workspace on the following url
    http://localhost:7001/workspace
This is because the all the jar services are deployed to the WLS. You can monitor if it is installed by going into the Process administrator -> Engines -> J2EE jar deployment (or something)
There you'll find all the jars that are/can be deployed. If you make any changes using the BPM admin center configuration don't forget to recreate and redeploy the jar file.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards
    Nils

  • /etc/init.d/imq script fix for RedHat Linux?

I'm using Message Queue 3.0.1 SP2 (Build 4-a) Platform Edition and trying to get it set up to run on a RedHat machine.
I am finding that ps (procps version 2.0.7) is not compatible with the script installed as /etc/init.d/imq.
Specifically, that script's findproc function looks like this:
    # find the named process(es)
    findproc() {
      pid=`/bin/ps -ef |
      /bin/grep -w $1 |
      /bin/grep -v grep |
      /bin/awk '{print $2}'`
      echo $pid
    }and the script later calls
findproc $EXECUTABLEThe problem is that imqbrokerd (the value of EXECUTABLE) is a script, and so does not show up in the process list. I have struggled to glean the proper PID from ps another way, but so far have not been successful.
Does anyone have an example of a findproc fixed for RedHat's procps?

I can see the imqbrokerd process when I do a 'ps -ef' on my
    RH Linux system.
    # /bin/ps -ef | grep broker
    root 22571 1 0 12:28 pts/0 00:00:00 /bin/sh bin/imqbrokerd -bgnd -au
I tried manually stopping the broker through the
/etc/init.d/imq script and it seems to work for me.
    # env DEBUG=1 /etc/init.d/imq stop
    Stopping imqbrokerd ... done
How are you using /etc/init.d/imq ?

  • Oracle firewire modules for Redhat Linux 2.6.9-34.EL

    Hi,
I need oracle firewire modules for Redhat Linux 2.6.9-34.EL. Can you please help where can I find firewire modules for this kernel.
    Thanks
    Haranath

According to http://www.linux1394.org/download.php you should not need any additional kernel module support. You may need to install the libraw1394 RPM packages, but you can get those from your distribution media or from ULN, if your are subscribed.

  • Lost Hard drive need the Tarantella 3 program for Redhat 8

Does anyone know where I can find Tarantella3 for Redhat 8? I have my
Certificate of License and Authencity document, but I lost my hard drive
which contained the Tarantella install program. Obviously I cannot pull
the license out of the product because the hd failed.

I tried that and input my license key in the format
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX and the screen displayed "invalid key".
This was never accepted. Any idea why?
    Carmelo wrote:
The COLA should have the license key. Register on Customer Central and
you should be able to get to the Downloads section and download 3.30.
Then use the keys from the COLA to license your server.

Obviously I cannot pull the license out of the product because the
hd failed.Exactly what version do you have a COLA for? You can download
Tarantella v3.42.947 that will install on Redhat 8 from
    http://www.tarantella.com/download
if you need an older version then you need to have registered or have
Maintenance with us. You can register @
    https://custcentral.tarantella.com -> Downloads
You need 3.4x licenses for the last two versions of the product.
If you need to upgrade see

  • OC4J can be Certified for Redhat ES?

    Hi,
OC4J can be Certified for Redhat ES? since the Redhat site say
"While Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES provides the same core capabilities as Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS, it is designed for smaller systems with up to two CPUs and 4GB of main memory."
the only feature missing is clustering
What Oracle engineers think about this?
    Best regards
    Clovis

    Hi,
OC4J standalone runs fine with RedHat ES (actually it runs excellent == I do).
I don't think that Oracle will ofiicially support the ES version of RedHat. But I am not the descision maker on this topic.
    Thanks

  • ASMLib for the Linux 2.6 kernel

Does anyone knows when Oracle will release a newer ASMLib for the 2.6 kernel? The current one only works for RH2.1, RH3 and SSL8. SSL9 is now officially supported by Oracle database 10g but why the ASMLib is still lacking? If anyone have any experience of making the current ASMLib to work with the 2.6 kernel, please share the experience. Thanks!

No Oracle products are certified to run on Oracle Linux 6 yet either. However, once ASMLib is released, it will only be available via ULN, as far as I know. And only for the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel, not for the Red Hat compatible kernel.

Oracle 8i for Linux 2.2 kernels (using glibc 2.1) is supposed to
be out the first part of June. I don't know what they will do
about 8SE and 8EE. Maybe supply patches? Anyway, Oracle is
aware of the problems associated with glibc 2.1 and is working on
    it.
I installed Caldera Openlinux 2.2 and used a previously installed
Oracle 8EE installation. So far, it is working. I believe they
have said that it should work, but you may encounter a few
    errors.
I believe that Oracle 8EE adds Partitioning and Objects. 8i is
made for use with the internet and allows you to create stored
procedures in Java. I have never used the product, but that is
    my understanding of it.
    I hope this helps.

  • Fonts for RedHat Linux

The Adobe font store lists fonts for Windows and Mac.  What about fonts for Linux?
We are using LaTeX on RedHat Linux and a requirement is to use the Adobe Univers 57 Condensed font family in a report I am generating.
The IT department is leaning towards requiring use of Type 1 fonts rather than allowing use of OpenType fonts.
Which Type 1 product (Mac or Windows)  do we need to license for use on Linux?  And just in case they allow OpenType fonts, which OpenType product (Mac or Windows)  do we need to license for use on Linux?
Is there anything else we need to consider in regards to using Adobe Fonts on Linux?  Same for use with LaTeX on Linux?

You can almost certainly use Windows Type 1 fonts in your Linux app (though some require .AFM files, these are also supplied with the fonts, even though Windows doesn't need them).
On the OpenType side, the fonts are the same files for Mac and Windows.
Your only complication is that to use the Adobe download manager and get the files in the first place, you may have to do the purchase from either Windows or Mac OS.
