Assembly at customers site

PP gurus
My client is a construction equipment manufacturing company and he will give subcontracting to many vendors and he wants to assemble the final assembly at the customer site.
Please throw some light on how to map this.

The scenario that I suggest have:
- Create a SLoc in your Plant but with the address of your customer.
- Sending components to subcontractor that will produce the subassemblies, Position L in Purchase Order ; these SC will send their products to the SLoc.
- Vendors supplying components will have Sloc as the delivery address.
- Create a WC and a routing for the final assembly; BoM for the final product will have components and subassemblies.
- Create a production order
- Produce the Assembly with a production order at your customer.

I do not think that'll be any problem. Here at work we also use Cisco ADSL 800 Series with vpn between customers' sites without any issues. The ASA should vpn for sure.

Cost for Production at Site

Dear All ,
I want to capture the cost of the work caried out at my customers site by employees of my company.
I have near about 100 sites at present and my project tenure is about 2 to 3 years
How can i collect the cost similar to the production order in my plant.
Shall I define the plants for each and every site?

Dear Mandar,
1. The request you have posted here, needs a larger discussion interms of integeration with other modules, configuration, Master data Etc.
2. A simple solution is that you can have cost centres to collect the same at the customer leve.
3. This will be simpler, but again it needs to be validated with what cost you are planning to collect and how.
4. Defining a plant alone will not resolve your problem, plant is only a organisationa entity- cost are collected at Cost centres only.

Iprint from remote sites

Hello folks.
Iprint works perfectly in house. Our internal network sits behind
a BM3.8 firewall. I'm trying to download the iprint client from a
customers site but keep getting a winsock error 10060. The clients
site is also behind a BM3.8 firewall.
What port exceptions do I need to create on our BM server and the
customers BM server to get this to work? Basically I just need the
port numbers required outbound from the Client site, and inbound
at our site. 631, 515 is there anything else that would relate to
the 10060 winsock error? I get that error when trying to download
the driver. The web page is up, I have downloaded the client and
installed, but cannot pull the driver?

Ah yah sir, I did a find the cure!
It wasn't packet filtering nor generic proxy. It was in fact on
page "uh let me thing...uhhhhh, possum, uh dinosaur..ahhhh, no
what page was that on? Ding dang, it was either 14 or 17 of the
iprint administators guide.
Any case, notice when attempting to install the drivers remotely
(or internally for that matter) that the ipp url was an internal
ip address. Couldn't change that in edir so looking at the manual
again I found this little note suggesting to start the ndps
manager with the /dnsname switch. ex: Load ndpsm
..manager.domain.com /dnsname=server.domain.com . The manual
suggesting setting up a dns record for the print manager but I
figured if its mapping to the same IP as the server name then lets
use the server name. That should work and voila.

OracleAS Web Cache Architecture - Web Cache placed at Customer site

What I am looking for is an WebCache technical architecture slide where WebCache is placed at the customer sites and connecting to the APPS server @Oracle ADC.
If you would have this information great or if you could provide any other place or person that I may contact that could provide this information, this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gary!
In theory it does not matter where you place the webcache. However you need to make sure that the connection between the webcache and the origin server is encrypted using SSL (HTTPS).
I would suggest not to set the webcache system at the customers site. Who is going to manage the box? Who is responsible for it?

Please be aware that in patch 11 the requirement that a delivery have a tracking number associated with it was lifted per multiple customer requests. Meaning, all deliveries that synch to web tools from B1 will trigger the messaging service to send a delivery notification if so enabled.
So, if you have deliveries in B1 that have no tracking number on them, when they synch to Web tools they will send the delivery confirmation email. Basically any delivery that exists in Web tools that does not have a tracking number has never been sent, and after patch 11 will be sent, so you may end up sending delivery confirmations to your customers for orders that were placed years ago.
Obviously this is not good. What you can do is use a local smtp server, which is recommended anyways, and monitor the pickup folder for emails that would be sent out. Pause the local smtp server BEFORE you upgrade to patch 11, watch the pickup directory and manually delete any emails that you don't want to go out.
As there may be a large number of emails that you do not wish delivered, you may wish to perform a search on that folder for files containing the text of the undesired emails, such as "Your order has been shipped". Move those emails to a seperate folder, then search for any emails that do not contain the current date, or the dates that you know delivery notifications have not been sent for. A great tool for this is Total Commander, and it's free.
There is also a switch in the Admin - config settings - messaging page that you can use to disable the sending of shipment notifications entirely. But make sure you restart the messaging service after you change this setting as the old setting might be cached in the service.

In MTO VC scenario, how to deliver subassemblies separately from a sales order

Finished good has two sub-assemblies for the main assembly. The main assembly is not an assembly actually but Customer orders it as Assembled component of Subassembly 1 And Sub assembly 2. There are cases where Sub assemblies can be shipped separately which are then assembled at the Customer Site.
Main FG product and sub-assemblies are both Configurable materials.
In the above scenario which MRP strategy is more suitable and how to dispatch individual subassemblies separately.
Also there should be option to produce subassembly separately if the need arises.
Ex: Box assembly is made of Lid & Pan. All the 3 materials are configurable as per Customer requirement.

Need to know which is most suitable strategy which can satisfy below req's
1. Box can be produced as assembly and dispactched
2. Lid and Cover can be produced separately and can be assembled at Customer site
3. Delivery of individual LId and cover can be made separately
4. Production order creation should be possible for Box, Lid or Pan separately

are you sure that your Item A is a genuine Pick To Order? - I would think that a PTO would result in exploding the OM Line to separate lines for the components and when they are ATO's they individually would result in WIP Jobs.
Anyway once the toplevel Item is resulting in a WIP job the only mechanism for creating the remaining component jobs are via an MRP breakdown done by the classical MRP or ASCP planning run.
To tie the different jobs together (hard-pegging) you would have to look at Project MFG (PJM) e.g. in the simple version of SEIBANs.

REPORT SERVER 6i Patch1 PRINTING BLANK PAGES

I have a problem that is occouring on three different report servers. It will start printing blank pages instead of the report and the only way to get it back to normal is to stop and reastart the service. I get this on a version 6, version 6i and version 6i patch1 report servers. It makes no difference what call method I use (command line or OCX control). I can also force this behavior on one of the servers by selecting a HP 895C as the default printer in the windows printers and then starting the service. All pages print blank after that. At the customers site it appears to be random as to when it will start printing the blank pages.
Any ideas on what the fix is for this?

We have a Reports 6i server up and running and I'm getting stuff out OK to postscript printers, but some HP older printers are just spitting out blank pages. Is there a desformat= that I need to set differently? I've tried most of the options ( dec, psport, psland, hpl... all blank )
Appreciate any help, I haven't used this stuff long, so am quite naive about how it hangs together.

There is two ways, you can either copy it over......but sometimes all the alignment goes off.
Or you can use the query SAP have given in a note. I do not remember the note number. But here is an extract of the note. I use this query often and have kept this extract one side. It only copies the layouts that do not exist in the destination company. Here is the extract.
An SQL query can be used to copy documents from one database to another, however the following conditions must be met:
1. Only edited documents with a doccode (the template primery key), which does not exist in the destination database, will be copied.
2. It is necessary to backup source and destination databases before running the query!!!
3. Both databases must share the same localization and the same version!!!
4. Select "Start" -> "Programs" -> "Microsoft SQL Server" -> "Query Analyzer" and run the following query:
Replace SOURCE with the source database name.
Replace DEST with the destination database name.

Since Im fed up with Apple and got already n Touch i simply want a player with a good capacity and just to listen to music... and i pretty much liked the creative zen vision m player... more than any new product from creative... all of em are more like multimedia and not "classy"....
Furthermore I just find the product over google at customers site... if i browse all mp3players from creative I cant find the product i want.... It would be awesome if anyone knows a way to get a new one of these... and it would be kickass if it could get delieverd to EU/Austria

SolMan 4.0: Support Team determination via Access Sequence not working

from all the documentation I've read I got the following understanding for automatically determination of Support Team via Access Sequence (well, for one possibillity at least):
- Maintain Sold-to-Party in IBase IB52, especially country attribute. DONE
- Maintain Organizational Structure in PPOMA_CRM and create Org. Units, Business Partner No. get assigned automatically. DONE
- The Organizational Unit "Support Team" has the same country attribute as the Sold-to-Party and was marked "Obj. Permitted in Determination". DONE
- In IMG under SolMan -> Sc.-Specific Settings -> Partner Det. Proc. -> Def. Partner Det. Procedure select Procedure "SLFN0001" -> Partner Functions in Procedure -> Select "Support Team" -> Details, in block "Partner Determination" under "Access Sequence" select "Organizational data: Support Team by org. model". DONE
If I now create a support message in a satellite system the Support-Team will NOT be assigned. Instead if I have a look into transaction data of the message under tab "Actions" there is an entry "When message is created, find support team responsible" with processing parameters RULE AC13200137, PARTNER_FCT SLFN0003.
This makes absolutely no sense to me, why is the determination rule 13200137 used (which contains no entries at the moment) instead of the assigned Access Sequence?
Am I missing something?

Windows 7 Client 'sees' an old version of windows 2012 server share

Hi All,
I have a problem which seems to be a common theme looking at other threads. Here's the overview of the problem:-
I have multiple windows 7 clients and a windows 8.1 client within a 2008 Server in a domain.
I also have a Windows 2012R2 Server which is not joined to the domain. There is a Share on the 2012R2 which has the Caching Option turned off. Everyone full control on Share & File permissions.
One of the Windows 7 machines in Explorer when it looks at
\\2012server\share sees an old version of the folder. It seems that SMB 2 chaching is working too well. Not even pressing F5 or clicking View, Refresh updates windows explorer.
It took a reboot to get the workstation to see the up to date contents of the share on the 2012 server.
We don't seem to have that behaviour with that client against the 2008 server.
I have seen this behaviour on another machine un-related to us at another location which was in a workgroup with a 2012 server and no domain.
Questions:-
Is there some sort of problem with Windows 7 workstations working against 2012 Servers in a non-domain setting or is it just Windows 7 against 2012 servers period?
I understand that Windows 7 utilises SMB1 & SMB2. SMB2 introduced caching. If the server has turned off the share cache option should the client cache the contents of the share or the information about the files & folders & 'file not found'

I want to open a file handle to a file on a network share so I can read and write data to it. But I also want to know that when I look at the folder to open the file I'm actually looking at the live version of the folder and files in the folder and
not a cached version of the folder. If it's a cached version the file might be there already but I won't see it.
Is there an API call that tells the client to get a fresh view of the server share so I can be absolutely sure that when I look for a file on the server I'm getting the correct answer and not one from cache.

As the computers that can be affected by this problem are not mine I cannot enforce or guarantee that any of my 'client base' will apply any hotfixes. I will also not have the ability to tweak registry settings as I can't guarantee Admin Access.
It seems that we need to go back to SMB1 as all the tweaks to SMB since those days have introduced problems with the basic requirement of sharing files from a share on a server for Read/Write purposes. I have tried turning a network back to SMB1 and that
has resolved a lot of the issues but then I found a post/MS blog that states not to leave the network on SMB1
The Caching option of the share had already been turned off. Surely Windows clients should not cache any information about the share but I think that is not the case.

If this is a known issue, why isn't the hotfix rolled into a general windows update if this is a known problem? However this doesn't just affect domain joined workstations.
Surely it's basic functionality for a networked computer to access files and folders on a network file server. It's what networks were invented for at the end of the day.
I am unable to apply hotfixes to these computers that are having the problem due to the fact they are not mine but my customers.
At one of my customers sites I disabled SMB2 from the server and network clients as well as disabling the network adapter power saving option. This seemed to resolve the issues that I saw on one client that seemed to be 30 minutes behind the rest of
the network. The hotfix you link to states that it is for Domain joined computers. At my customer site the PC's are not in a domain at all, just a workgroup with workstations and a 2012r2 server. Will the hotfix be applicable to non-domain machines?
Also many clients seemed to loose the file handle to an open file on the server. I'll get them to turn SMB2 back on at some point after I send out some updates but all the problems I see seem to be caused by the caching functions in SMB2. SMB1 is good and
stable. It's SMB2 that seems to be causing the problems as it was designed from the ground up for caching.
Has this networking issue been resolved in Windows 8, 8.1 and 10?
As I am unable to apply a hotfix to 1000's of PC's that are not mine, is there an API call or something where I can get the windows client to stop lying and get me the current state of a folder on the server?
Will Turning off ClientSideCaching fix the issue? HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MrxSmb\Parameters\

Hi,
I am looking for help with Beta testing a tool that I am developing to analyze Oracle AWR reports (HTML format), produce graphs to assist in finding trends and correlations between the data.
What I can offer is if you can send 2 or more AWR HTML reports (from the same system, up to 24 of them) I will return a HTML report which graphs the key metrics (Instance Summary, Instant Efficiency, Wait Events, Top SQL by (CPU, Wait Time, Elapsed Time), Instance Activity Stats (with correlations against User Calls and DB Calls). There is a caveat to this – the code is in beta, if the tool cannot process the exact format I will work to fix it so that I can generate the report, but I cannot promise any particular time line on this (it may be days or weeks) as I am using my spare time to develop this. My main focus at the moment is on the parsing of the reports, rather than the prettiness of the graphs.
This service is currently provided with no warranty at all, you MUST review all data yourself against your own data, in sending me the reports you release me from any obligations or legal commitments (if you rely solely on this and your nuclear reactor melts down – do not try to blame me!).

“This all seems a bit suspicious - who is this guy, why is he not even telling me his real name?” Well I guess I probably would be wondering a little about this also. So let me tell you a little about myself. I used to do Oracle performance tuning professionally and it was all I did for more than ten years. During that time I worked on some of Oracles largest OLTP and data warehouse systems. Then I joined a startup company working in a completely different field, and while I now have a nice management job I really miss the performance work. We do have some customers using our software on large Oracle clusters and occasionally I would get a call from Support to help work out what was going wrong on a customers site. This usually meant getting 10+ awr reports emailed to me and having to spend some time wading through them looking for trends, which lead me to become convinced that 1. there must be a better way of reading the reports and 2. I am sure I am not the only one who has to figure out what's going on on a system to which the only connection is a HTML AWR report. So I went away and did some dev and reached a minimally viable product that is ready for someone other than its “daddy” (who thinks the world of it) to either love it or tell me its ugly.
Some of you will be concerned about leaking information (instance names, host names, ip addresses, database structure from SQL (and even real data if your not using bind variables)). So if I get enough people saying “I like the idea of the tool, but I am scared your looking to hack my system” then I will produce (and open source, so you can inspect it) a tool to strip out anything that is likely to be dangerous prior to sending it to me.

Do I need to pay $99/year per employee just to test web pages on IOS simulator?

Hi there, I run a small web development shop with 5 employees. We all bought Xcode through the app store and have been using the iOS simulator to test web pages and troubleshoot problems with our customers sites on iPhones and iPads.
I just upgraded to Mountain Lion, and it seems I lost my iOS simulator. I tried to install it through XCode again, and it says I need a developer account, which is $99/year.
We don't develop apps, we just use the simulator to view websites locally and on the web. Does this mean if I want all of my employees to be able to just simply use the simulator to view web pages, that I have to pay $500 per year to Apple? Am I missing something here? Why could we use the simulator's basic features for free under Snow Leopard, but not under Mountain Lion with the new version of the simulator?
Please tell me I'm an idiot and am just missing something about how to install it or configure it. Thanks so much for your help!

See, I am an idiot. It was right there. Somehow I think Alfred lost how to launch the simulator in the update to Mountain Lion. Since I couldn't launch it like I used to, I dug around until I found the Preferences > Downloads screen and had the option to install "iOS 5.0 Simulator" which is when I was prompted to get a developer license.
I never found the Xcode > Open Developer Tool method of locating it.
Anyway, thanks so much for your time!
