Asset takeover date and asset split

Hi All,
I have an asset X with NBV of say 2000 (APC 5000 and Acc Dep 3000). This is currently available in system as one single asset.
The problem is u2013 above asset is in fact a sum of many small assets for which useful life is different and NBV is different (we are tracking it outside SAP as of now)
Say Asset 1..with APC of 300, Acc Dep as 200 and NBV of 100 u2026total useful life is 10 yrs and remaining useful life is 2 yrs
Asset 2..with APC of 400, Acc Dep as 250 and NBV of 150 u2026total useful life is 10 yrs and remaining useful life is 4 yrs
Similarly I have different assets which add up to asset X as mentioned above.
Asset take over date is 31.12.2009 (We follow Jan to Dec year). We have gone live in mid 2010.
I would like to bring those assets into Sap now. I mean make the adjustments now u2013 split the asset X to different assets. (We did not calculate dep for asset X until now from go u2013 live).
We want to the calculate dep for newly created small assets from month May, 2011.
Could someone help me with the correct process to be followed.
One option I am thing about is u2013
1)     Scrap the asset X (40 posting key will be posted to u2018asset disposal accountu2019 (P&L Account))
2)     Make co code status to u20182u2019 and make changes to take over date.
3)     Create new assets (in AS91) for all small assets with their useful life (Say for asset 1 u2013 I will keep total useful life as 10 yrs and remaining useful life as 2 yrs
4)     In takeover values in AS91 u2013 I will put APC as 300 and Acc Dep as 200 for asset 1.
5)     Make an entry through OASV for total APC, Acc Dep and remaining value to u2018asset disposal accountu2019 (P&L Account u2013 which is posted in point 1)
6)     Put the co code back to active status u20180u2019.
My Questions u2013
1)     Can I follow above method or is there any other easy way?
2)     What should be the takeover date? Is it 31.12.2010?
3)     Should I change the takeover date back to 31.12.2009 after my transactions are complete or can I leave it as 31.12.2010? Its affects.
4)     In OASV can I make posting to u2018asset disposal accountu2019 which is a P&L account? (System might ask for cost center which I thought I can provide it in OKB9).
5)     Will the above process effect my current assets in SAP? I mean I do not want to spoil the current set up in system.
Thanks in advance for the patient reading and providing solution.
Regards,
Kumar

Hi Kumar,
You Specify the transfer date for the asset data transfer. This date derermineds the status of posting to be used for the transfer. Posting up to this date will be included in the transfer. This specification also determines  whether you want to perform the transfer during fiscal year ( with transfer of posted transcation/depreciation in the current fiscal year) or at the end of the fiscal year (with out transctions).
If the trasfer date is not the last day if the fiscal year ( according to the fiscal year variant FI), the system interprets this as transfer during the fiscal year. The system cannot transfer any historical transactions. It can only transfer cumulative values from the end of the last fiscal year, and the transctions in the current fiscal year (This is only possible for the transfer during the fiscal year).
Ex....
Transfer date - December 31, 2009
Last Closed fiscal year 2009
Specify the take over date as 31.12.2009. If the company gone live with SAP on 01.01.2010.
I hope above note will clear your doubt.

  • FA-retirement-Asset value date and posting date are not in same fisc year

    Hello,
I would like to post retirement in the new fiscal year but with asset value date in the previous year so that NBV is calculated correctly. It is not possible neither in ABAON nor in ABAVN with any transaction type.
I always get message 'Asset value date and posting date are not in same fiscal year'.
Is there any way how to handle this?
    Thank you,
    Jan

    Hi,
I have tried this but the settings of our Depr keys works in the way. That if you use asset value date in the new month it will calculate depreciation for the whole month.
This means if I retire with asset value date 31.12.2008 - NBV will be calculated as at 31.12.2008.
If I retire with asset value date 1.1.2008 - NBV will be calculated as at 31.1.2009.
    Thank you anyway!

  • Asset value date and posting date are not in same fiscal year

    Hi,
Our business user has created an asset under an incorrect asset class, which he is trying to transfer to a new asset whcih was created under correct asset class. However system is restricting user with the error message "Asset value date and posting date are not in same fiscal year". Can you please advise me how we can proceed further with this error.
    Regards,

    Hi,
To transfer one asset to another asset within a company code can be done through ABUMN only.
While doing this transfer you have enter the document date, posting date, and value date for the transaction, but all these dates should be in same fiscal year only.
In your case you must have been entered the dates for asset value date and posting date , and these two dates are in diff financial years.
Please make sure that both the dates are in same FY.
Hope this will fix your issue.

  • Asset capitalisation date and depreceation date..

    Dear all
I am facing one problem regarding asset capitalisation
    date and depreciation start date.
In my project. one bus is purchased
in different component Ex . first they purchased
    Engine , then
body , then assembly charges and then RTO registration .
    Now ,
we booked in same asset no with all value , first i verified the invoice
for Engine in date 31.07.2007. asset  value is debited with say
amount 500000 . than bill of body -amount 100000 at 30.11.2007 and
then assembly charges 50000  on 31.12.2007and than RTO registration
    10000 on 05.01.2008.
Toatl asset vlue is debited by -
    660000.
client want capitalisation date should be RTO
registration date which is 05.01.2008, so i make the change in asset
master  Capitalisation date as 05.01.2008 because asset take value
from engine invoice verification date which was 31.07.2007.
    Now
problem is, when i go for depreciation system calculate the depreciation
from 31.07.2007 even i changed the capitalisation date system calculate
the depreciation from the purchased date of Engine.
    Is there
any configuration part where i have to make some change in Depreciation
start date or i am making some mistake.
    Awaiting for your valuable
    reaply.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
For the same instead of creation of Direct asset the process to be followed is:
1.Create Asset under construction - AS01 with class AUC
    2. Assign the same asset to your each transaction (From PO
        to Registration Charges)
3.Create another Asset using AS01 with Final Class Vehicle
Use transaction code AIBU - Settle  for settlment of asset under construction to Final Asset Vehicle and during settlment put the asset valuation date as 5.01.2008.
Also in Transaction code AIAB you have to put the Final asset i.e. Vehicle on which you are going to settle the asset under construction
But for the same the total reversal of your existing process is required.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Material master data and Asset

    Hello Guys
Considering the every material master data that I am buying will end up been an Asset in my company.
I would like to know how can I alredy related the material master data that I am creating with a possible hierarchy to make it esier at the time of creating the asset?
Some one could briefly explain to me how can I related the material master data and a creation of an asset in SAP?
    thanks

    Hi guys
    Jignesh Thakkar
That was really good answer you gave it is according with the Help instruction that I read, but the main point for me is that I will not know the asset description or capitalized date or serial number,  location, etcu2026 until I goods receipt the individual material creating serial nods and the equipment master data.
In this scenario from the equipment master data is there any way to create an Asset master data, create the asset master data with the information of the GR equipment master Data or populate the Asset AS01 with the equipment master data?
Otherwise I will need manually create the Asset and manually synchronize the equipment with the asset?
Thanks Guys it have been incredibly helpful this network I hope I can help some one in future as it have been helpful for me at the moment.

  • New Depreciation Area in Asset Master Data, for assets under construction.

    Hi,
The issue is relating to New Depreciation area. We have created new Depreciation area as 80=IFRS.  We had followed three steps
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :-
3.1 u2013 Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.  Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
In this we have find that the old assets value has been copied. But when we are doing internal order settlement through KO88 i.e. from pre-cap to AUC we are not finding new Depreciation area 80=IFRS in AUC. We had checked in AW01N.
Letu2019s assume that creating a new deprecation area is normally not required since these assets are not depreciated. But During the final settlement, the new depreciation area should also automatically supplied with values from the reference depreciation area from the AUC(assets under construction) in the completed assets. But we doesnu2019t find any values of in Dep Key = 80 IFRS for final assets.
In Assets Class of AUC we had used  Investmnet Measure as Status of AUC.
Kindly provide solution for the same.
    Nikhil

Check Transfer Variant 5 (under Transactions->Intercompany Asset Transfers->Automatic Intercompany Asset Transfers->Define Transfer Variants):
    5     Investment measure settlement
Your Transfer Method is most likely 1 now (without transfer to dependant areas), change it to:
4     Gross method with transfer of values to dependent areas
    This should help.

  • Where to down load assets with Asset Capitalization date and Book value..

    Hi All,
What is table/Transaction code  to down load Asset with below details:
    1) Capitalization
    2)  Acquisition value
    3) Book Value
    4) Book Dep Value
    5) Cost center
    Thx In advance..
    Regards,
    Shirisha

You can try the Asset History Sheet report S_ALR_87011990 (which has all fields except for cost center) and if you want additional fields you can choose to add new fields through the link [Include own fields in FI-AA standard ALV |https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ERPFI/IncludeownfieldsinFI-AAstandardALV] the relevant report for Asset History Sheet should be Asset History Sheet -> FIAA_SALVTAB_RAGITT includes CI_REPRAGITT (out of RAGITT_ALV01). Else a quicker option would be to perform a vlookup process from another report that has cost centers like S_ALR_87011979.

  • Converting HDV to H.264 for storage. Any simple way dates and clip splits can be preserved?

    THE PROBLEM
Tapes are one of the riskiest ways to archive footage as not only is there the possibility of tape damage but the very real chance that the camera will fail after a few years leaving you with unplayable footage .. .. .. .. unless you are lucky enough to find a replacement one or are prepared to spend money on obsolete equipment.
A further disadvantage is the linear nature of tape which takes ages to import or spool through.
    THE SOLUTION
Digital storage on hard drives, memory sticks or SD cards has none of these problems and your video can be played anywhere on any computer etc.
Furthermore after converting to H.264, the video is virtually identical in quality and only takes up 35% of the space (using FCP X's convert to H.264 default setting).
    THE SNAGS
I intend to import all my HDV tapes, stick each one on the FCP X timeline and export it as mentioned above.
This will reduce my HDV file size to around 4GB which would also fit conveniently on one DVD, as well as the above mentioned storage devices.
The only problem I can see is that I wll lose the date/time and also the clip-breaks.
The precise date/time is not a serious problem but I would like to preserve clip breaks if possible, even though the inability to do so would not be too serious.
    THE HELP?
So have there been any recent developments that would help me with either of these problems cheaply and quickly.
P.S.  I know that I could burn the date/time on the first frame of every clip but that would take an eternity. I could also export every clip singly to H.264 but that too would take an age.

Thanks for the reply, however, unless I am missing something there would be no advantage over simply retaining the original imported HDV files and avoiding the additional time taken to create the archive?
The H.264 route preserves the quality whilst dramatically reducing the file size and will probably be a more universally accepted format than HDV.
Luckily I can live without the metadata and timecode but it would be nice to be able to preserve it.
Naturally I have written details but as they are not integral with the video, there is always the strong possibility of them being lost after my demise.
I intend to keep the HDV tapes and camera of course, but I don't know how long the camera (even when unused) will survive.
My original Canon Video 8 camcorder, bought in 1992 packed in after 8 years leaving me with 25 unplayable tapes until last year, when by a minor miracle I was able to borrow a Video 8 tape deck.
Similarly, my first mini-DV camera purchased in 2000, packed in recently but luckily I have another DV camera together with my HDV one which can still play them.
From the research I have done it seem quite general that many cameras, even when little used, bite the dust after a decade, probably due to electronic deterioration/malfunction. They work perfectly but the next time you use them the transport mechanism refuses to function  even though there is obviously no mechanical wear.

  • Group and Individual Assets Legacy data load

Hi, I work for a oil and gas company and I am having issues for the initial load for the group and individual assets into SAP .
Any help in regards to this would be helpful.
Below are the values that I would like to load into SAP for group ( grp 1 )  and individual assets ( Ind 1 and Ind 2 ) into SAP.  We would like the depreciation to be carried on the group asset level and allocated on the NBV of individual assets ( which I think seems not possible but the standard allocates the depreciation only on acquisition value ) .
Asset              APC Value         Acc Depreciation      NBV
    grp 1                20,000.00           10,000.00                 10,000.00
    Ind  1               10,000.00            6,000.00                    4,000.00
    Ind  2               10,000.00            4,000.00                    6,000.00
The problem is for intital load as well once the Ind 1 and Ind 2 are assigned to group asset grp 1 , it doesnt consider the acc depreciation at all , and the system allocations the accumulated depreciation based on apc values rather then NBV as of the load date.
Also, if I plan to load only the NBV of the group and individual assets only, the clients wants the APC values as well for reporting , so not where I can get those from if I only load the NBV.
Please let me know other approaches for initial load of group and individual assets that you guys might have worked on .
    Thanks

    hi,
Hope your requirement is to see the takeover values as on legacy asset takeover date, for those group assets mistakenly created with AS21...instead of AS81.
    Am i right...........
Then you can do this by doing below.
    1) Go to OAAQ, for your CC, the last closed FY should be same as the FY, which is actually used during legacy asset upload.
    2) now go to AS82, for your wrongly created group assets and in takeover values tab, enter the values manually.
Note: Assets created by AS01/AS21 can changed with AS92/AS82, then you will have takeover values tab in addition to normal AS02/AS22 transactions.
once updation is finished, then again revert back the changes in OAAQ.
    This will solve your issue.
    Thanks,
    Srinu

  • Asset Value Date Exit and Enhancement

    Hi,
We have a requirement from customer, that the asset value date in ANY asset posting transaction cannot be less than or equal to 30.06.2014 it should always be 01.07.2014 or higher.
So, please let me know if there is any User Exit which can be used to restrict the Asset Value Date. If yes, then will this User Exit work for all transaction codes, or we need to write different logic for every transaction code.

  • Asset Value Date determination during settlement from Orders or WBS!

    Hi,
I have a scenario on the asset value date and I am not sure what went wrong, asset side or CO side.
    The scenario is as following:
    1. Asset was converted into the system by 7/31/2008 with $10000.
    2. The capitalized on date is 2/29/2008 on the asset master data.
    3. On 8/31/ 2008, I charged $300 to an internal order and settled the $300 to this asset. The Asset Value Date on the Asset Explorer is 8/15/2008.
    4. On 9/30/2008, I charged #500 to the same internal order and settled the $500 to this asset, the Asset value date on the asset explorer for this charge is still 8/15/2008.
This messed up the depreciation of this asset. Does anyone know how to control the asset value date from the settlement? Do we need to config in Asset side or in Order side? I want the $300 charge's value date is on 8/15/2008 and $500 value date on 9/15/2008. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    Ting

In the settlement you can fill in the asset values date.
The first posting is the basis for capitalization date(when you don't fill it in manual), when you fill it in for the second time the Asset Value Date it is no longer relefant.
This is only important when you have say in your depreciation key that the depreciation is based on days( see the help on this field)

  • Asset capitalization date

    Dear Experts,
I am buying asset by PO. As far as I know, when we check goods receipt field in PO, system must use MIGO ( goods receipt ) date as capitalization date of asset. but when I try to do MIGO for such an asset, system shows me following error:
    - Asset 1111 111000010-0 is incomplete, check the asset Message no. AAPO184
    Diagnosis
The 'incomplete' indicator was set for asset 1001 111000010-0 because required entries were not made.
After investigating I see in asset master data, that asset does not have capitalization date and system consider that asset incomplete. ( I created asset at the time of creating PO ). please tell me why this happens and system needs capitalization date while capitalization date for that asset must be MIGO date. and system must not stop me and show error.
