Assigning a value to a Constant

I have OWB 10..0.1.31 on XP as Client installed.
I want to assign a value to a constant; I did the following:
Picking the Constant from the toolbox->assigned a name to the constant ->added an attribute to the outputgroup, the name is TODAY DATE; I then did an right click on the attribute, I expected, that a window will pop-up, which shows me, among others, the Expression-button; instead of that, the Constant-Editor pops-up again, so I am not able to assign the Constant a value.
Does anybody does have an idea, where my mistake is ?

When you click on the attribute in the constant operator in the mapping canvas, the Attribute Properties should be refreshed in the mapping editor (it is a dockable panel in the mapping editor). In this panel there are a bunch of properties for the attribute (representing your constant) and one of them is the Expression. Click on the right hand column of the property inspector table next to Expression and the expression editor will appear....

I'm trying to assign a value to a constant in a calc script, but not able to make it work.
I need to get a user entered value from the database such as Indexation Value, and use that many times in my script. Rather than use:
"member1"->"member2"->"member3"->"member4"->"member5"
every time I access the value, I'd like to use:
VAR IndexVal = "member1"->"member2"->"member3"->"member4"->"member5";
and then use IndexVal in the script.
Is this possible?, or do I have to use a substitution variable?

It is possible, but the variable and the calculations that use it must exist in the same Calc Bloack statement (Beginning and ending in parens)

How to use two values for a constant in update rule..

I have to make a update rule for Fiscal year variant. and I have to assign two values Z4 and FW as constant to it.
Please suggest me any idea. As I think at a time we can give only one constant value to a update rule...

Hi:
If you want to give either Z4 or FW depending on a Logic, you can use ABAP or Formula Builder.
Ofcourse you cannot give FiscVariant = 'Z4FW' because thats not a valid value.

Lost value of a constant

In the spec part of a package I define
c_GTCON50_S CONSTANT VARCHAR2(1):='S';
In a procedure in the body part I do:
INSERT INTO IGIC_DECE_400_11_INCIDENCIAS
( ID_DECE_INCI, ID_DECE_400, COD_DECE_INCI,
COD_DECE_NIVI, ACTIVA_INCIDENCIA,

Do you see? I INSERT that constant... But when I inspect what I have in the table, I can see that record but the field corresponding to the constant IS NULL ??????

What's the reason for that "lost value" of a constant?
This procedure of the package with that INSERT is executed by another package..
I don't know if it is a clue...

There is a reason for the "loss of value" of the constant...
But I don't know that reason....It cannot loose the value. Not possible. As shown above, you cannot change the variable's value - the reserve word "+constant+" does not allow it.
The only other explanation is scope - you think you are referring to that constant, but within the current code unit's scope, the reference is to another variable. And that's the value that you see.
This is of course assuming that you are diagnosing the problem correctly. A trigger could be responsible for changing the row's column value set by that constant via the INSERT statement. There could be an error (constraint violation for example) that is suppressed - so it seems that a row with that constant value is inserted, when it is not the case. Etc.

Error when assigning a value to a class

Assign a value from dropdownlist to input field value on BSP page

Hi,
I'm new to SAP and ABAP. We have a CRM project in which I have to maintain BSP pages.
Now, coming to my problem: I have a input field with
value = "//BTAdminH/HeaderInfo"
This field is normally maintainable. The required function is now to set this field as not maintainable/readonly. Then, the value should be set automatically to an value, which will be selected from a dropdownListBox. After saving, the value HeaderInfo should have the same value like the selected value from the dropdownListBox.
How can I now set the field as readonly (this should be the easier part) and
how can I set the value for the HeaderInfo to the value of the selected value from the dropdownListBox?
If I set it directly like this
value = "//BTActivity/Priority"
it is shown on the BSP page correclty, but it is not saved as HeaderInfo.
Please help me.

test was only for test purposes! I am using as a separator the plus sign!
But this is not the problem!
In debugging, the local variable has the concatenated value! So, this is working!
oncatenate ls_ddlb1-value ls_ddlb2-value ls_ddlb3-value into lv_headerinfo SEPARATED BY ' + '.
But when I assign the value of my set_headerinfo to the local variable, then it is returning only the separator sign!!!
if BTAdminH->GET_HEADERINFO( 'HEADERINFO' ) is initial.
BTAdminH->SET_HEADERINFO( attribute_path = 'HEADERINFO' value = lv_headerinfo ).
endif.
If I declare the local variable as one of the dropdown values, then it is getting populated also for set_headerinfo
lv_headerinfo =ls_ddlb1-value.
So, the assigning is also working! But it is not working, when the local variable equals more than one value! I hope that I could explained it in the right way for you!!!!
So. why is the value for set_headerinfo not the same as the one for the local variable! The local variable has the correct value after the concatination.

Assigning a value to a parameter.

Hi all,
I am using CR XI, developping a report built upon a query in BW (using SAP Kit). The query in BW has a parameter PARAM1 of type string that comes automatically into my report but the type or the parameter is greyed. I can't change it.
In reality, I am expecting a date to be entered. It would be more user friendly to offer the user the calendar interface to select a value rather than the textbox for a string.
I can create a second parameter PARAM2 of type Date in CR, transform the input value to string but I do not know how to assign the result to PARAM1.
I have tried an assignment in a formula using beforereadingreports but no luck.
Does anybody know how to do this or if this is even possible ?

Thanks Graham - sorry it took me so long.
That is an interesting suggestion that I did not think of. I tried but for some reason the parameter for the report against BW does not show up in the link part of the subreport definition. I created a "fake" main report with a date type parameter, a formula to translate it to a string but no way to "assign" its value to the parameter in the original report.
Queries against SAP seem to have "specificities"...
In other words, i am still stuck !

OpenSQLException - Cannot assign double value

I have some table in database with field of type 'double'. I use JDBC to store data in this table and sometimes I would like to place special values in it, eg:
preparedStatement.setDouble(1, Double.MIN_VALUE);
Unfortunately I get exception like the one below.
My question is: what is the allowed range of values for type 'double' in database according to OpenSQL spec ?

   Thank you for your replay. I didn't touch DB directly, I defined db structure through NetWeaver Dictionary perspective and table that i'm interested in is defined like the one on this screen: http://zduniak.com/tmp/sap_dictionary_double.png
So I'm looking for generic solution (SAP OpenSQL), not specific to any particular DB vendor.
Maybe there is somewhere on help.sap.com (i couldn't find unfortunately) information what is the allowed range of values for type 'double' in database according to OpenSQL spec ?

How to assign the Value to the Particular field-Text field

Hi all,
My requirement is to call the Web service with input from the ADF page.
Steps I have done:
1. I have created a Web service data control based on the WSDL file.
2. Just drag and drop the Process, It is automatically created the form with the Input fields and then the Process button
3. When I entered the values and then process button it will pass the values corretly.the web service is invoked correctly with the values entered.
4. But when I try to assign the value from the some other field that is not working.
I am assigning the Value to the field by go to the properties of the Particular field value =”CREATE”
When I do like this that value is showing in the screen. But it will not pass the value to the web service.
I think the value is only displaying in the screen. Not stored at bindings level. Kindly guide me in this.

If you want to have the value that is returned displayed in a field that has binding to another item and not the WS result item then the way to do this would be to override the method that is invoked with the button that calls the web service - you then take the result and assign it to the item you want.

While this sample uses a simple method it would be basically the same for a Web service.

Assigning multiple values from a List of Values at detail (table) level

Hi,
I have a master detail entry screen. I want to assign multiple values when end user selects an item from the list. The field is at detail level (Table type). I can do it using the "Select one choice" type component (ADF Faces Core) but it doesnt retain the value when I go to the next record. This type of component works fine with the screen with only one record to show (form type). This component has binding with list type.
If I use simple list with Table binding, I can not assign values to multiple items. This type of list retains value when record is changed.
Can anyone help me resolving this issue?

Then you will have to create a when-validate-item trigger with a cursor based on your selection of your LOV . Loop through that cursor assigning the next in the next record by using the built-in function next_record. (put you selection for you value in a hidden item for example.
something like this:

Is there a way to assign a value to a member whose name is built dynamically in a calculation script ?For instance, my calculation script needs to do this :In the ACCOUNT dimension, the values of some (source) accounts must be added to their associated (destination) account and cleared from the source account.I can't use shared members.Each source account has a DESTINATION attribute, whose value is the associated destination account nameIs there a way to add the source value to the destination account? or some kind of dynamic solution without attribute ?Any help or suggestion greatly appreciated. Try assigning two values seperated by a delimiter ( say '|') to the same parameter.
In the function get the parameter value and seperate the values using the same delimiter.
