Assigning IP address to more that one physical device?

Hi all...
We have a sun server with 8 network cards. These cards will be IPMP's together in two's, so for example;
e1000g0 and e1000g1 will be a IPMP group.
In our zone config, so far, we have been setting the following config;
add net
set address = 123.456.789.123
set physical = e1000g0
end
when we finish with the zone config and boot the zone we can see that network card e1000g0 has all the IP's associated with it.
My question, what occurs in the event of e1000g0 going offline - how will e1000g1 become 'aware' of all the assigned IP's?
of course we can't add the same IP to another network card in zonecfg as it says its already in use?
I'm assuming its got something to do with IPMP config....??

If you only have one public IP, then all inbound traffic will be to one interface. If you want to spread inbound traffic, you have to have two public IPs and then split your client load between those IPs. IPMP will do outbound load spreading among all interfaces of the group.

This will assign the IP address to the e1000g0 network card - but I want to load balance across both AS well as failover protection (which i guess comes naturaly with a correctly configured IPMP group).Outbound happens depending on your IPMP setup. Inbound cannot happen with only one address. Set up another address on e1000g1 and direct half your traffic to it.
