Assigning _root variable from dynamic MC

Setup
I have mc that dynamically loads in a mc onto the stage. On
the last frame of the dynamic mc it tells the main timeline to
advance 2 frames which then load in the next mc.
Issue
Once all the mc's play and the _root movie goes back to the
first frame it still continues to loop.
Question
How do I assign a value to a var that lives on the main
timeline from a dynamic mc that can also be read fromm the dynamic
mc?

why's the last loaded swf instruct the main timeline to
loop?

• OUTPUT variable from dynamic query with openquery

I am working on a dynamic sql statement that uses openquery to retrieve some columns from an Oracle source. My goal is to take the variables from the select openquery statement and store them, so they can be passed to an insert statement. I am
having no problem getting the emplid but the first_name and last_name are NULL
Any help would be appreciated.
DECLARE @sql nvarchar(max)
declare @emplid varchar(11)
declare @first_name varchar(50)
set @emplid = '1234'
BEGIN
SET NOCOUNT ON;
SET @sql = 'select distinct emplid,
First_name ,
Last_name
from openquery(DWHCRPT, ''select p.emplid, p.First_nAME, p.last_nAME
FROM PS_OCC_BIODEMO_S P
where P.emplid = ''''' + @emplid + ''''''') A';
EXEC SP_executesql @SQL, N'@emplid VARCHAR (11), @first_name varchar(50) OUTPUT', @emplid, @first_name = first_name;
select @emplid, @first_name --currently returning NULL
END

Patrick's query would work, but it would drag the entire table over to SQL Server, which could be expensive.
The code you posted have several flaws. You are not assigning @first_name, and you have failed to provide OUTPUT for the actual parameter. Also, the DISTINCT looks out of place. Isn't emplid a key?
This should work better:
SET @sql = 'select @first_name = First_name
from openquery(DWHCRPT, ''select p.First_nAME, p.last_nAME
FROM PS_OCC_BIODEMO_S P
where P.emplid = ''''' + @emplid + ''''''') A';
EXEC SP_executesql @SQL, N'@emplid VARCHAR (11), @first_name varchar(50) OUTPUT', @emplid, @first_name = @first_name OUTPUT;
select @emplid, @first_name --currently returning NULL
Also, look at this link for some tips how to write queries with OPENQUERY without going insane over all nested quotes:

• Problem returning variables from dynamic SQL/PLSQL

Hi, I have a problem I am trying to solve using a very short piece of dynamic SQL or PLSQL but I am having problems getting the variable values out of the dynamic block.
I have 16 counters whose names are made up of three variable parts - 'scheme', 'contributory category' and 'employment category'
The 'scheme' can be either 'no1', 'no2', 'off', 'cg' or 'amc'
The 'contributory category' can be either 'cont' or 'noncont'
The 'employment category' can be either 'ft' or 'pt'
(There are only 16 because only 16 combinations are possible)
For example the total counter name could be 'v_cg_noncont_ft_count'
I have created a variable by concatenating the various elements called v_incr_count_name which holds the name of the counter I want to increment.
I am running this whole thing within an anonymous PLSQL block so I cannot use global variables meaning that my variables are not visible within a dynamic PLSQL block.
I believe this means that either I need to bind the variables within a PLSQL block or use a SELECT FROM INTO SQL block.
I have tried a few solutions with no luck such as the following PLSQL:
v_incr_count := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
sql_stmt := 'BEGIN :a := :a + 1; END;';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt USING v_incr_count_name;
Unfortunately I am getting the 'IN bind variable bound to an OUT position' error which I believe is because it is trying to return a value into v_incr_count_name which has been defined by default as an IN variable. The problem is that I need to store the returned value into the variable whose name is stored in v_incr_count_name.
Another solution I tried is:
v_incr_count_name := 'v_'||v_scheme||'_'||v_cont_cat||'_'||v_emp_cat||'_count';
sql_stmt := 'SELECT '||v_incr_count_name||' + 1 FROM DUAL';
EXECUTE IMMEDIATE sql_stmt INTO v_return;
This solution gives me an 'Invalid colum error'
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Dan

• Accessing _root variable from flex

In Flex code, I am trying to access a variable that I pass to
the Flash object through FlashVars argument. In Flash it is easy to
do as all the variables that as passed as a part of FlashVars
appear as a part of _level0 or _root. Is there any way to do it in
Flex?
I am trying pass a large dataset directly to Flash without an
http call (creating a desktop application). Does anyone know if the
FlashVars approach will work for a large dataset or is there a
better approach?
Thanks

From the Flex 2.0.1 help (search for Using flashVars):
The following example sets the values of the firstname,
middlename, and lastname flashVars properties inside the
tag in a simple wrapper:

<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml"
creationComplete="initVars()">
<mx:Script>
// Declare bindable properties in Application scope.
[Bindable]
public var myName:String;
[Bindable]
public var myHometown:String;
// Assign values to new properties.
private function initVars():void {
myName = Application.application.parameters.myName;
myHometown = Application.application.parameters.myHometown;
</mx:Script>
<mx:VBox>
<mx:HBox>
<mx:Label text="Name: "/>
<mx:Label text="{myName}" fontWeight="bold"/>
</mx:HBox>
<mx:HBox>
<mx:Label text="Hometown: "/>
<mx:Label text="{myHometown}" fontWeight="bold"/>
</mx:HBox>
</mx:VBox>
</mx:Application>
If you are using the wrapper that is generated by Flex Data
Services or wrappers that are included in the
resources/html-templates directory, your wrapper might not look the
same, but the basic approach to passing the flashVars variable is.
For example, you might insert flashVars variables by appending them
to a function parameter, as the following example shows:
"flashvars","historyUrl=%2Fflex%2Fflex%2Dinternal%3Faction%3Dhistory%5Fhtml&lconid="
+ lc_id + "&firstName=Nick&lastName=Danger",

• Dynamically Setting a Variable from a Connection String that has been set by a Config File

Hi Guys
I'm setting up a Master / Slave (Parent / Child) dtsx environment but I'm unable to work out how to dynamically set a variable in the Master dtsx from a connection string that has had its value set by a config file. I'm sure it's possible.
Below is the what I'm hoping to achieve. I've set up everything apart from the highlighted section.
Any ideas?

First, what version of SQL Server are you using?
You could switch the problem around. You could set the value of a variable from the config file, then it is easy to use that variable as the connection string source for your connection manager. At the same time you can use a parent variable
configuration to map that variable to variables in your child package.

• Assign value to ODI variable from Jython

Hello Experts,
I have a procedure where I'm using Jython code. I want to assign a value to an ODI project variable from a Jython function:
Example:
#COUNTER = len(v_jythonList) ---> being #COUNTER the ODI project variable and len() the jython function
Now, i noticed that using ODI variables adds # sign which is use for comments in Jython code. Is there a way to assign values to ODI variables from Jython script?
Please help!.

• Assign numeric value to a variable from an item

Someone please help me. I am attempting to assign a variable a numerical value from a text field. For example,
my text field item is :P202_AMOUNT. How do I assign the number that is entered into this item to a PLS_INTEGER variable? I have attempted to uss this line of code but it hasn't worked:
v_amount PLS_INTEGER := :P202_AMOUNT;
Please help.
-Stefano

Stefano,
The code you showed will work in the declaration section of a PL/SQL block that is part of your application's metadata (region, process, computation, etc.). Perhaps you are attempting to compile such a block externally using the bind variable. If that is the case, try v('P202_AMOUNT') instead. Or maybe your question is about format masks... How about giving us a bit more to go on?

• The type of the value being assigned to variable ... differs from the current variable type

I am trying to load a variable on SSIS Execute SQL Task with a string value. I keep on getting an error message :-
“The type of the value being assigned to variable “User::LegacyColumns” differs from the current variable type”.
Below are the settings on my package:
Execute SQL Task Result Set –
Single Row
Variable Data Type –
String
The data to be loaded on the variable is a single row shown below:
FirstName,LastName,MiddleName,PatientType,Title
Can someone kindly help me to solve this as I’m lost for ideas.

Thank you Sorna. I think I have managed to solve it. After a long search I have found a solution which advises that I should use a Foreach Loop Container. The help is on this link:

• How do I assign an ODI variable from an Open Tool?

I'm writing an open tool (a custom tool to use in my ODI flows - a java class that implements oracle.odi.sdk.opentools.IOpenTool
). I need to perform a complex calculating in the java Open Tool and 'export' a value back into the ODI world. Idealy, it would be great if I could set a variable in ODI (from within the java world).
Is this possible?
If anyone knows the answer, or another way to do this (that might not be as ideal, but works all the same) please let me know.
Matt.

Matt
It is not possible to directly populate an ODI variable, but what you can do is to put the result value into a memory engine table/column, and then to refresh the variable from there. As it is all in-memory, it is fast.

Interface looks like Flatfile to db ,km's are lkm file------sql and ikm is sql incremental update
Vlinevariable is working fine where i am getting numbers in sequence manner to assign in to code of dynamicfile variable and in dynamicfile is not taking that value in to that code and causing session failed.

• Movie refuses to load variables from text file

Hi,
I'm sure you can solve my newbie problem in less than 1
minute...
I'm pulling my hair out on a template I bought 2 days ago
from templatemonster.com
I am using Flash 8 Pro.
All I want to do is change an existing textfield that is
Static to Dynamic and load variables from a text file.
The Action Script I use to do so comes directly from
Macromedia documentation (see attached)
It works fine when I create a brand new movie, but doesn't do
anything when inserted into the template.
It doesn't even complain about not finding the text file if I
rename or delete it!
Here are the FLA and text file:
Edit : Link to source file removed
The textfield I would like to change is in the txt2 symbol.
Here is how I proceed:
When I open HEADER.FLA, Flash tells me I'm missing a font,
ok, so I click on Use Default, I'll deal with this later.
I open up the Movie Explorer, go to Layer 30, go to Frame 75
and click once on txt2
I name the instance "myMovie_mc" and save (converts from
Flash MX to Flash 8)
I double-click on the Movie Clip, select the word
"Automobile" on the Stage, change from Static to Dynamic and call
that instance "myText_txt"
Still in the Movie Clip, I create a new layer I call
"actions", and in Frame 1 I copy the attached Action Script:
This script works when I create a new flash file, but it does
absolutely nothing in this template.
I know I'm doing something wrong, but I wonder what?
Many thanks to any helping soul!
Ferris.

try this:
// Load text as variable and assign it to the
// dynamic text field
var features_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
features_lv.onLoad = onText();
features_lv.load("safetyFeatures.txt");
function onText(success:Boolean) {
if (success) {
myText_txt.text = features_lv.safetyfeatures;
} else {
myText_txt.text = "unable to load text file.";
or this
// Load text as variable and assign it to the
// dynamic text field
var features_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
features_lv.onLoad = function(success) {
if (success) {
myText_txt.text = features_lv.safetyfeatures;
} else {
myText_txt.text = "unable to load text file.";

• Fill Variable from active row

Hi all,
I have a query which lists billing data.
Each row has a different Exchange Rate Type.
I want to fill a variable of Exchange Rate Type according to each active row. ( So, I can execute currency conversion via variable Exh. Rate Type. )
I think (hope) a user exit can do this.
But how can I get the active Exchange Rate Type data for each line into variable ? Has any of you implemented such a thing ?
Any help will be appreciated,
Gul

Hi Eugene,
What I mean is this: (version 3.5 )
While defining a Currency Translation Type via RRC1, on the "Exchange Rate" tab, I see the options as
* OPTION 1: "Exchange Rate Type" (where I can select a type from a list like
"S St. Translation at average rate"
"BK St. Translation at selling rate"
"XY St. Translation at another rate", etc. )
* OPTION 2: "Ex. Rate Type from Var." ( where I assign a variable to get the Exchange Rate Type from query data dynamically as S, BK, XY or smt. different.
I created a variable on 0RTYPE characteristic and assigned that variable to my Currency Translation Type on "Ex. Rate Type from Var." option.
My data is smt. like this:
Ex. Rate Type  Bill Date
S            01.01.2005
BK           01.01.2005
BK           01.01.2005
S            01.01.2005
XY           01.01.2005
I want to use the relevant Ex. Rate Type for each row ,while executing Currency Conversion on BEx query.
Now, how can I manage to fill that variable using each different Exchange Rate Type on each row?
(I don't know if I'm misinterpreting the terms, but I try to use what I see on the screen as much as possible. )
Hope it's much clear now,
Gul

• Unable to assign the variable value

Hi,
I am trying to capture the error message into a variable using statement in the Refreshing tab :
Select '<%=odiRef.getPrevStepLog("MESSAGE")%>' from dual
After getting the error log into variable, I am making a call to Scenario which will generate a file and email it stating the error log.
Now the issue is when i assign this variable to the Scenario variable it throws the following error:

If i set the variable with any default value, it successfully makes a call to the scenario and generates the file.
Please help!
Thanks,

the variable name is table_nm
inside the procedure am assigning the value to lv_table_nm :=#SESSNAME.table_nm;
If i change the variable name tos ome constant or any other value, the package is working fine. Any ideas why am getting error assigning the variable?

• How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?

Hi Gurus;
I'm using dynamic search help in my program.
I want to get multi column values from search help. But I dont know solution for this issue.
I'm using F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM.
How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?
Thanks.

Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
There are like 3 steps.
You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data: It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.
call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
exporting
retfield        = 'FLD2'
value_org       = 'S'
tables
value_tab       = It_VALTAB
return_tab      = It_return
dynpfld_mapping = It_dynpfld
exceptions
parameter_error = 1
no_values_found = 2
others          = 3.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
else.
perform get_selected_fields tables It_return.
endif.
The code within the perform GET_SELECTED_FIELDS - We need to map the result fields after user selects it. The code goes like this. This is step is to update the dynpro fields.
I need a internal table as well as a work area here. like,
data: lt_fields type table of dynpread,
la_fields type dynpread.
field-symbols: <fs_return> type ddshretval.
so fill out LT_FIELDS from the IT_RETURN table
loop at lt_return assigning <fs_return>.
la_fields-fieldname = <fs_return>-retfield.
la_fields-fieldvalue = <fs_return>-fieldval.
append la_fields to lt_fields.
clear: la_fields.
endloop.
Call the FM to update the dynpro
call function 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'
exporting
dyname               = sy-repid
dynumb = '1002' "This is my screen number. You could use 1000 for selection screen (hope so)
tables
dynpfields           = lt_fields
exceptions
invalid_abapworkarea = 1
invalid_dynprofield  = 2
invalid_dynproname   = 3
invalid_dynpronummer = 4
invalid_request      = 5
no_fielddescription  = 6
undefind_error       = 7
others               = 8.
if sy-subrc <> 0.
message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
endif.
good luck
