Assigning structures with different fields to a field symbol

Hi,
can anybody give a example code of how to assign a structure to a field symbol in aloop if the structure is containing more than 1 type of data .
i am giving the code please try so that it could run ina unicode environment.and doesnt give dump.

  • How to access a field of a structure with a field symbol?

    Dear all,
Currently I'm trying to access the fields of a structure (called "ls_tbl") dynamicly. The code looks as follows (of course the field symbols are defined correctly ;-):
        ASSIGN lv_f1 TO <lv_f1>.
        ASSIGN lv_f2 TO <lv_f2>.
        lv_pp = ls_tbl-(<lv_f1>).
        lv_pt = ls_tbl-(<lv_f2>).
Unfortunatly I get the following error message:
<<The data object "LS_TBL" does not have a component called "".>>
I really do not understand why ABAP is trying to interpret the field symbol name as a string. Does anybody have a clue how to access the field of ls_tbl with the help of a field symbol?
    Many thanks!!!

    Hi ,
Please check the below sample code .
    data : begin of st_table,
                myfiledname type c value '1',
                myfiledname1 type c value '2',
           end of st_table .
    data : lv_filedname(11) type c value 'MYFILEDNAME'
    filed-symbols : <fs> type any,
                    <fs_table> type any.
    assign st_table to <fs_table>.
    Assign lv_filedname to <fs> .
assign component <fs> of structure <fs_table> to lv_pp.

  • Concatenate structure with 63 fields

    Hi all,
I have a structure with 63 fields. We have to send all this data in text file as an email attachment. What is the best way to concatenate all this field separated by tab?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
Try using Filed Symbols . Let your structure be WA_TEST type ZTEST.
    Data string type X
    Field Symbol <fs> type any
    Do.
ASSIGN COMPONENT sy-index OF STRUCTURE WA_TEST TO <fs>.
    If Sy-subrc NE 0.
    Exit.
Conactenate STRING  <fs> into STRING  separated by co_tab.
    Endif.

  • Totally confused about mixing videos with different field orders.

I have PPcs5 on the pc.
I edit for many different shooters. As such I get everything: Progressive, upper field , lower field . Not to mention from a zillion different cameras & different resolutions.
I output 95% so far to dvd ntsc, 5% BR.
I get dv tapes on some & HD files also. Many times I get a mixure of both on each job. Also Iphone HD files too. Going crazy trying to fiquer out how to set up my sequence when I have upper field  or progressive by themselves & also when they are mixed with lower field dv foot...Do I force everything into a lower field seq if going to dvd?
Do I have to deinterlace anything?
If I drag a clip to the new "create seq" icon, it will match the clips properties but is that correct if its a progressive only project or an Upper field project going out to dvd ntsc?
Do I need to RT click on the clips in the project window & "interpet Footage" & force it into a lower field there 1st? Is there a difference between setting up a seq to be played on a progressive DVD player hdmi to a prog TV as apposed to setting up a seq for a non hdmi or non progressive tv?
Does outputting to dvd automatically force it to lower field ?
If my seq isnt set up correctly I notice a big interlace problem when the cams pan from side to side, especially when there are multiple cams with different field orders. Have been unable to find any good discussions or articles on the topic.
How do you guys do it without going crazzzzzzzy? Are there rules? What are the rules? A rule book would really help:-)  I Yern for the old DVCAM/DV days:-)

DV is always lower and HD is upper or progressive.
As you are having all fields in one timeline i would make it progressive.
Premiere does a good job in deinterlacing.
Only use Interprete footage when the footage is interprete wrong.
Set up a progressive timeline and drop everything in it. If a clip does not behave correctly you can change fields in the Field Options.
Export from Premiere and import into Encore. That is what i would do......

  • Can I enhance extract structure with standard field?

    Friends,
Can I enhance the extract structure with standard field.
Eg. If I want add(append) field PACKNO to Extraction structure MCVGIH. PACKNO is a field from standard table. So Can I do this and populate this without using abap code(customer exit) Should I give foreign key field also in the append stucture.
    Please help me
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
mostly it works as A.H.P explained, because in the extractor they mostly do a move-corresponding of the fields. Sometimes they don't, specially for newer applications and extractors because the abap statement move-corresponding is on the list of obsolete statements. In that case you need to do some coding.
So basically I would recommend to add the field, regenerate the datasource and check the result with rsa3.

  • How to copy the structure of a Field Symbol?

    Hi,
I have a requirement where in a dynamic Internal table is supposed to be created. I have created that dynamic table using the class method cl_alv_table_create=>create_dynamic_table. Here I have a structure in the field symbol. My requirement is how do I create a internal table with the structure that is there in the field symbol?...
and i'm unable to refer to the field that is dynamically created in the field symbol.
    Like,
    <gfs_tab>-pernr = itab-pernr.
in the above stmt the field pernr is created in the field symbol dynamically.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

    Hi Matt,
my objective is to create an internal table with structure that i have obtained in <gfs_tab> .
other than the pernr, there are many fields dynamically generated.
say if I have generated the following structure in <gfs_tab> :
    pernr            ename1            day1             day2                 day3
then I want to create an internal table with the above structure so that my internal table will have fields:
    1) pernr
    2) ename1
    3) day1
    4) day2
    5) day3
for each execution of the report there will be different structure generated in <gfs_tab> depending upon the inputs that I give.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • Problem with DESCRIBE field-symbol statement?

    Hi
I havw written following querry but it's showing error. My doubt is there any resctriction field symbols in DESCRIBE query.
    i wrote
describe field <a> type typ  length in character mode.
    Is that syntax correct?

When you use the Describe statement with the field symbols, it will do the describe on the field which was assigned to it.
    Like:
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs> TYPE ANY.
    DATA: l_char TYPE char10.
    l_char = 'TEST'.
    ASSIGN l_char TO <fs>.
    DATA: l_len TYPE i.
DESCRIBE FIELD <fs> LENGTH l_len IN CHARACTER MODE.
    write: / '<fs>:', <fs>.
    WRITE: / 'Length', l_len.
Here descirbe gives the property of the L_CHAR because it was assigned to field symbol <FS>.

  • Problem with slis_t_specialcol_alv Field Symbol Assignment

I have created a dynamic internal table (runtime determined number of columns) to contain data to be displayed in an ALV. I’ve also made ensured that the last column of the dynamic itab is of type <b>'slis_t_specialcol_alv'</b> and named <b>‘CINFO’</b> to contain color information for that particular row. In the code below the dynamic itab is pointed to by field symbol <dyn_table> while the work area for it would be <dyn_wa>.
Somewhere down the line I attempt to assign the ‘CINFO’ component of the current row of the itab to a field symbol called <fs_cinfo> typed as ‘slist_t_specialcol_alv’ (Same as CINFO).
    I used the code:
ASSIGN COMPONENT 'CINFO' OF STRUCTURE <dyn_wa> TO <fs_cinfo>.
This gives me the runtime error:
<i>Type conflict in the ASSIGN statement in the program "ZHRR001_TEMMATRIX".
You attempted to assign a field to a typed field symbol,
but the field does not have the required type.    </i>
I am unsure why this happens as both the component CINFO and FS <fs_cinfo> are of type slist_t_specialcol_alv.
For some odd reason though during debugging, I took a look at the <dyn_wa> structure and the component type of CINFO was displayed as “C”???
Here is the relevant portion of code (creation of dynamic itab and attempting to assign <fs_cinfo>)
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <dyn_table> TYPE STANDARD TABLE,

    Hello Sow
There is a big problem in the program: you are mixing types used for FM-based ALV (SLIS_...) and ABAP-OO based ALV (LVC_...).
For ABAP-OO based row colouring you have to define your itab like this:
    TYPES: ty_s_outtab.
INCLUDE TYPE kna1. " just an example
    TYPES: rowcolor(4)  TYPE c.
    TYPES: END OF ty_s_outtab.
TYPES: ty_t_outtab TYPE STANDARD TABLE of ty_s_outtab
                       WITH DEFAULT KEY.
In the layout (LVC_S_LAYO) you have to set <b>ls_layout-info_fname = 'ROWCOLOR'</b>.
ROWCOLOR has to be filled according to <b>Cxyz</b> whereas
    - x = color
    - y = inverse on/off
    - z = intensified on/off

  • Import screen field value into search help assigned to a different field

    Hi,
I have created an elementary search help based on a custom DDIC table ZSH_SHHLDR. Dialog Type: Dialog depends on set of values, search help parameters:
Parameter                       Import     Export   LPos SPos  SDis
    FOLIO                                X                       1       1         X
    CERTN                                             X         2       2
where FOLIO and CERTN are fields in my table.
There are two fields in my program defined as like FOLIO and CERTN respectively. These fields are screen fields in a custom dynpro created using Screen Painter. The search help is assigned to the CERTN field. In the screen, I want that the contents of the FOLIO field should be imported into the search help, i.e. on the screen:
    FOLIO: 21353
    CERTN: <F4>
When I click on F4 help for CERTN, I want that the FOLIO parameter in the search help should contain the value for FOLIO that I entered in the text box on the screen. Is there a way to do this, through an exit for instance? Help is appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
You need to use the below statement.
    process on value-request.
    field zcom_doa_users-zzjob_role module sub_tes_module.
Here I declared three fields in the screen fields from structure zcom_doa_users. Try to name the fields with table name-field name. So inside the module in structure zcom_doa_users you will get given value for the other fields also.
Now you can do your own processing for f4 help.

  • Assigning Table/Structure Types using Field-Symbols

    Hello Gurus,
How can we assign a table or structure type to a particulart internal table?
What I want to do is to make my data declaration for i_tab reusable.
    i.e.
    DATA: v_tab  TYPE string.
    v_tab = 'MARA'.
DATA  : i_tab  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF v_tab.
The purpose is to make the declaration flexible so program can change v_tab to any table names like LIPS, KNA1...etc making the i_tab flexible and reusable enough. Can anyone help me please? I try to use field-symbols, but I can not achieve what I want. Any bright ideas please?

DATA: dref TYPE REF TO data.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <table> TYPE STANDARD TABLE,
                     <line>  TYPE ANY.
PARAMETERS: pa_tab TYPE tabname DEFAULT 'BUT000'.
CREATE DATA dref TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF (pa_tab).
      ASSIGN dref->* TO <table>.
      SELECT * FROM (pa_tab) INTO TABLE <table>
               UP TO 10 ROWS.
    LOOP AT <table> ASSIGNING <line>.
    ENDLOOP.
<LINE> will take the structure of the table line at runtime.
    This is quite flexible.
But you can also declare it like this, as we did with the <table>:
DATA: dref1 TYPE REF TO data.
    CREATE DATA dref1 TYPE (pa_tab).
    ASSIGN dref1->* TO <line>.
This way <line> will already have the correct structure, even before the <ASSIGNING>.

  • Combining items with different fields

I have users that want to built a report that shows all the products in the same table. Problem is certain fields will only be populated for certain products.
For example, a table with 15 fields, first 5 are constant across both products, 2nd 5 only for product A, 3rd 5 only for product B.
When you select product A from a drop down they want the table to only show the first 10 fields, when you select product B they want the table to only show the first and last 5. If no product is selected all fields should show.
Am I right in thinking this could be achieved with the union to combine results?
    Thanks

Assuming that you have the same total number of columns for each product (in your example product A and B both have 10) then yes, you could use a UNION. The first part of the UNION would include the 5 common fields and the additional 5 that pertain to product A. The second part would have the common ones and also those that belong to B. You could include an extra column into which you'd store a string, either 'productA' or 'productB'. Then could then filter on this extra column to show the product you're interested in.
But if the number of columns isn't the same for both products that won't work. You could pull all the columns into the analysis and then create a separate table view for each product. You could exclude out whatever columns that don't make sense and then use a view selector to move between the different tables.
I guess it depends upon how you want to display the data. How many different products are there?

  • Create Dynamic Structure based on Field-Symbol

    Hi Experts!!
I need to create a structure with dynamic structure included within.
I have a parameter on sel. screen in which we provide table name.
    PARAMETERS: p_table TYPE tabname.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <gt_data> TYPE ANY TABLE.
CREATE DATA gr_data TYPE TABLE OF (p_table).
    ASSIGN gr_data-* TO <gt_data>.
Now I need a structure like below:
    TYPES: BEGIN OF type_test,
struct TYPE <gt_data>, " dynamic structure based on table name entered on sel. screen
    fld1 TYPE c,
    fld2 TYPE n,
    END OF type_test.
Can somebody suggest how to achieve this?
Your help is highly appreciated. Thanks a lot

You can view this thread where our friend Marcin rocks .. Dynamically create a type
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <gt_data> TYPE ANY TABLE.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <gs_wa> TYPE ANY.
    data:wf_ref type ref to data.
    DATA:i_comp TYPE cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table,
         i_tot_comp TYPE cl_abap_structdescr=>component_table.
CREATE DATA gr_data TYPE TABLE OF (p_table).
    ASSIGN gr_data-* TO <gt_data>.
create data wf_ref like line of <gt_data>.
    assign wf_ref->* to <gs_wa>.
    *--Getting Compoents from existing type
      lf_struct ?= cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_name( '<GS_WA>' ).
      i_comp = lf_struct->get_components( ).
APPEND LINES OF i_comp TO i_tot_comp.
The idea is Get all the field details available it to i_tot_comp, then append individual fields manually to
i_tot_comp as explained in the link and create a dynamic structure and table.

  • How to modify field symbol of type Index Table with other field symbol of type any.

    Hello Experts,
How is it possible to update an filed symbol table of type Index table with other filed symbol table.
    e.g.
Field symbol :  <lt_table1> type Index table.
Field symbol : <lt_table2> type Index table.
after some code...at run time these table filled like following.
    <lt_tabel1 > has  value fore column  like c11 , c12 , c13
    <lt_table2> has value for column like C11     , C12 , C13 , C14 , C15 . some extra  values from <lt_table1>
Now I want to be modify <table1> one entires like C12 with <table2 > col C12.
    how I can achieve this.
    Regards,
    Chetan.

    Hi,
did you try  ASSIGN COMPONENT xx OF STRUCTURE <IT_TABEL1> TO <IT_TABLE2>.
xx will contain the number of the column
or maybe, if you have the description with a field catalog or other, that will be easier ..
    regards
    Fred

    Try:
    field-symbols: <f_temp> type any.
    loop at <fs_collect> assigning <fs_wa_collect>.
assign component 'GMNGA' of structure <fs_wa_collect> to <f_temp>.
    if <f_temp> is initial.
       delete <fs_collect>.
    endif.
    endloop.
