Associated Items Field in SharePoint 2013

Hi ,
I have two custom lists :
      -  Products List  which contains the list of products ( child list)
       - Products Category List which contains the list of categories ( parent list)
      - A lookup column in the Products List which point to the Products Category List.
My requirement is to show in  the parent list 'Category List' the list of products of the child list associated for each category with the ability of editing and deleting the product directly in the 'category List'.
How to accomplish this requirement.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

update the category list edit form and add connected webpart displays the products

  • Update Managed Metadata field in SharePoint 2013 Designer Workflow for O365

    Hi Guys,
    I need to update the managed metadata field in SharePoint Custom List using Workflow but its not working. I have also tried to use the HTTP WebService POST Operation but no luck.
    Am doing this for a SharePoint Online (O365) Site.
    Has anyone worked on something similar and was able to get it running ?
    I saw a post to create a custom Workflow Activity but I don't have a choice to go with the custom code option.
    http://patrickboom.wordpress.com/2013/07/23/workflow-activity-set-managed-metadata-column/
    I was able to achieve this by creating a SP 2010 based Workflow for O365. Which means that it worked well with SP 2010.
    Is there a different way to do it in 2013 ? I tried almost all options apart from creating custom Activity but nothing worked out.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Nutan
    Nutan Sharma

    Hi Nutan,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update Managed Metadata field with SharePoint 2013 Designer for SharePoint Online.
    As far as I know, there is not an OOB action to achieve your requirement with SharePoint 2013 Designer for SharePoint 2013. Customizing a workflow action is a better option to achieve it.  Why didn’t you customize a workflow action as Patrick’s blog?
    In addition, please take a look at the article about Nintex workflow, check whether it is useful for you:
    http://habaneroconsulting.com/insights/setting-managed-metadata-fields-in-a-nintex-workflow#.UykBSf6KDHo
    As this issue is about SharePoint Online, I suggest you create a new thread on SharePoint Online forum:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=onlineservicessharepoint . More experts will assist you.
    I hope this helps.

  • Add datetime property to "MetaInfo" field using SharePoint 2013 CSOM

    When uploading a file along with metadata using SharePoint FP RPC (using the "method= put document") it allows me to properly add datetime properties. My metainfo looks like this:
    "MetaInfo":"...MyCustomDate:TW|05 Jan 2015 12:58:31 -0000\r\n..."
    Then later on, when I try to update "MyCustomDate" property from the "MetaInfo" field using CSOM, it fails while updating it. (In this case I am using CSOM because I am updating some more fields and I want to avoid extra round-trips)
    After that update my metainfo looks like this:
    "MetaInfo":"...MyCustomDate:FX|0x01d028e7|0x4d1c4880\r\n..."
    Does anyone know why?, is there any workaround?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    If you want to add datetime property to "MetaInfo" field using SharePoint 2013 CSOM, the following code snippet for your reference:
    using (ClientContext context = new ClientContext("http://yourserver/"))
    context.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("user", "password", "domain");
    List list = context.Web.Lists.GetByTitle("Documents");
    ListItem oListItem = list.GetItemById(1);
    oListItem["MetaInfo"] = "MyCustomDate:TW|08 Jan 2015 12:58:31 -0000";
    oListItem.Update();
    context.ExecuteQuery();

  • [Forum FAQ] How to remove div characters from multiline textbox field in SharePoint 2013

    Scenario:
    Need to avoid the div tags and get data alone from multiline textbox field using JavaScript Client Object Model in SharePoint 2013.
    Solution:
    We can use a regular expression to achieve it.
    The steps in detail as follows:
    1. Insert a Script Editor Web Part into the page.
    2. This is the complete code, add it into the Script Editor Web Part and save.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    ExecuteOrDelayUntilScriptLoaded(retrieveListItems, "sp.js");
    function retrieveListItems() {
    // Create an instance of the current context to return context information
    var clientContext = new SP.ClientContext.get_current();
    //Returns the list with the specified title from the collection
    var oList = clientContext.get_web().get_lists().getByTitle('CustomListName');
    //use CAML to query the top 10 items
    var camlQuery = new SP.CamlQuery();
    //Sets value that specifies the XML schema that defines the list view
    camlQuery.set_viewXml('<View><RowLimit>10</RowLimit></View>');
    //Returns a collection of items from the list based on the specified query
    this.collListItem = oList.getItems(camlQuery);
    clientContext.load(this.collListItem, 'Include(Title,MultipleText)');
    clientContext.executeQueryAsync(Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQuerySucceeded), Function.createDelegate(this, this.onQueryFailed));
    function onQuerySucceeded() {
    //Returns an enumerator to iterate through the collection
    var listItemEnumerator = this.collListItem.getEnumerator();
    //Remove div tag use a regular expression
    var reg1 = new RegExp("<div class=\"ExternalClass[0-9A-F]+\">[^<]*", "");
    var reg2 = new RegExp("</div>$", "");
    //Advances the enumerator to the next element of the collection
    while (listItemEnumerator.moveNext()) {
    //Gets the current element in the collection
    var oListItem = listItemEnumerator.get_current();
    alert(oListItem.get_item('MultipleText').replace(reg1, "").replace(reg2, ""));
    function onQueryFailed(sender, args) {
    alert('Request failed. ' + args.get_message() + '\n' + args.get_stackTrace());

  • Sharing item/folder in SharePoint 2013 on-prem

    I'm trying to share an item/folder in a library (in a subsite that has unique permissions) to a user that doesn't have access to the site/library. Is this even possible?
    I've tried to share the item/folder directly with read permissions, but that doesn't work (access denied). And when I share the library (read permissions) and then share the item/folder it works. But the user cannot open the item (ex. word file), it says:
    "Sorry, we couldn't open: http://urltothedocument.docx".

    Hi,
    Yes, you can share a document or folder in a document library in SharePoint 2013.
    For your issue, please take steps as below:
    1.Go to your site collection -> Site Settings -> Manage Site Collection Features.
    2. Make sure "Limited-access user permission lockdown mode" is deactivated.

  • Issue in mapping custom user profile property with AD field in SharePoint 2013

    Hello,
    I am trying to map a custom user profile property i created "ADSecurityGroups", type - String, Multivalue with the AD propoerty named "memberOf" via powershell.
    UserProfile Service is up and running, and so is the Synchronization Service. User executing the powershell has full control on the User Profile Service and is the farm administrator.
    Following is the code snippet i grabbed from the internet which i am trying to execute.
    Add-PSSnapin Microsoft.SharePoint.Powershell -ErrorAction "SilentlyContinue"
    $url = "http://<servername:port>/" #URL of any site collection that is associated to the user profile service application.
    $spsProperty = "ADSecurityGroups" #Internal name of the SharePoint user profile property
    $fimProperty = "memberOf" #Name of the attribute in FIM/LDAP source
    $connectionName = "UserProfileSyncConnection" #Name of the SharePoint synchronization connection
    $site = Get-SPSite $url
    if ($site)
        Write-Host "Successfully obtained site reference!"
    else
        Write-Host "Failed to obtain site reference"
    $serviceContext = Get-SPServiceContext($site)

  • Script to hide out of the box form field in SharePoint 2013

    Can someone post a script to hide the fields on the out of the box New form of a particular list ?

    You can still edit form pages within SPO.  Embedding that script should work.  Have you tested it?
    As an alternative, you can set some of the column properties (such as
    ShowInEditForm) to No via the SPO Manager but this is a paid product - http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/store/sharepoint-manager-2013-online-WA104025157.aspx?queryid=6e5f213e%2D1ae8%2D4d5c%2D85f0%2D83712736e194&css=sharepoint%20manager&CTT=1

  • How to write FQL in querytext field in SharePoint 2013 Search REST API?

    I am having double quote symbol issue in my search app, same as http://www.silver-it.com/node/127 says.
    To avoid this issue, I am trying to understand: is it possible to do search request in FQL to the 2013 Search REST web service?
    I know that we can use KQL in querytext, like
    http://sp2013/sites/search/_api/search/query?querytext='Title:"123#123"'&enablefql=false&rowlimit=100&selectproperties='Title'
    But is it possible to write it in FQL? I found that there is a enableFQL property we can set in REST API. What's the function of it?
    http://sp2013/sites/search/_api/search/query?querytext='test'&enablefql=true&rowlimit=100&selectproperties='Title'
    http://sp2013/sites/search/_api/search/query?querytext='string("test case",mode="simpleall")'&enablefql=true&rowlimit=100&selectproperties='Title'
    Right now, the two above requests just give me this error.

    For laughs, I added the parameter (which wasn't in there). Now I get the error:
    Procedure or function 'GetInstances' expects parameter '@OtherWorkflowStatus', which was not supplied
    It seems like there is something not right about my installation. Previously, I couldn't get the workflow backend service to run because there were config values missing from the workflow manager database. At the time I tried to uninstall/reinstall
    WFM to no avail. I eventually had to manually add the values to get it to work. Something is not right about the WFM install/config process.

    Here is what I had to do to get it working:
    Leave the WFM (Workflow Manager) farm using the WFM config tool
    Uninstall WFM, Service Bus, and the CU's from control panel
    Uninstall Workflow Manager Client if it exists in the control panel, it didn't in mine
    Delete the following databases in SQL Server:
    SbGatewayDatabase
    SbManagementDB
    SBMessageContainer01
    WFInstanceManagementDB
    WFManagementDB
    WFResourceManagementDB
    Delete the workflow proxy service in Central Admin (important)
    Application Management > Manage Service Applications
    Highlight (select) the Workflow Service Application Proxy service (don’t click the hyperlink)
    Select “Delete” from the ribbon.
    Restart the server
    Reinstall
    Enable the workflow proxy service in CA for the web app, the 2013 workflow option will not show up in SPD unless you do this.
    Application Management > Manage Web Applications
    Select your web app
    Select “Service Connections” from the ribbon
    Check the Workflow Service Application Proxy item and click “OK”

  • Get filtered lookup field in sharepoint 2013

    Hi,
    I have LIST1
     Title            User
    Title1           Spservices
    Title2            Spservices
    Title3           Spuser
    here User column is people/group
     LIST 2
    how can i get Titles from LIST1 where User= Spservices ([Me]) for TitleLIST1 column in LIST2
    Example:
    Title TitleLIST1
    1        Title1
              Title2
    Here TitleLIST1 is dropdown (Lookup)
    Thanks in advance

    You could consider using a calculated column on the source list that has your filtering built into it. Then look up into this on your target list.

  • SharePoint 2013 ListView GroupBy SpURL field

    I am doing GroupBy Url Field in SharePoint (2013 Enterprise Edition) view. I have set 5  for group limits to return, and item limit to 1. Though there are more than 5 groups in list I can see less than 5 groups in view.
    After bit of analysis I found that while querying from DB SharePoint API gets unique 5 combination of Description + ", " + Url of Url field. But while displaying it, groups by based on description field only.
    Let's assume I have below content in my list for column "MyLink"
    Bing, http://bing.com
    Bing, http://bing.co.in
    Google, http://Google.com
    Google, http://Google.co.in
    Now if I group by "MyLink" and set GroupLimit to 2 and item limit to 1 (changed item limit to 2, 10, 100 - same result), in the view I can see only 1 group "Bing". Though I have given 2 different Url's, Url is not considered here while
    displaying.
    As of now I have hidden field MyLink_Hidden of single line of text, which has combination of Description and Url. I am grouping by this field and replacing the group header through JS. Please suggest if this is known issue in SharePoint 2013 and there is
    better solution.
    PaLa

    Hi Pala,
    It is by design that GroupBy with hyperlink field will be grouped by description, so it is not easy to change it.
    As you want to group by the view with different related content, I recommend to extract the list name and the item id from the current item's server relative URL in the workflow, and then use the value to update the column in the Task list.
    After that, the column value will become , it is list name/item id_.000.
    It will make the view more clear about the related item when grouping the view with this column.
    And you method is also fine.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

  • Sorting and filtering by select-multi person or group field in the list in SharePoint 2013

    Hi everybody,
    In SharePoint 2013, I have defined a column as "Person or Group" field, which you allow for multiple selections. when I try to sort/filter it by this field in the list. The field doesn't show up in the dropdown. If I changed "Allow multiple
    selections" option to "No" by clicking the column name to edit it in "List Settings", the field can show up sort in the dropdown.
    How about support sorting and filter by select-multiple "Person or Group" field in sharepoint 2013?
    BTW, in SharePoint 2010, it can support this issue no matter what the "Allow multiple selections" option the request is.
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Jodie

    Hi Jodie,
    Can you please give this as a try.
    To fix the Filter Issue on Assigned To Column. We need to run the following scripts.
    The field which allows more than one values or which allows multiple selections. The multi-valued fileds are non-sortable,
    non-filterable. Multi-valued fields cannot be indexed
    $web=Get-SPWeb
    $list=$web.Lists[] $field=$list.Fields[ColumnName] $strSchema=$field.SchemaXml $str=Schema$strSchema.Replace("Sortable=`"FALSE`"","Sortable=`"true`"")
    $field.SchemaXml = $strSchema

    Thanks for your reply, I have tried to run the scripts, but it still cannot work. The following is my scripts:
    $web=Get-SPWeb 'http://cst-server-01'
    $list=$.web.Lists["Product Request"]
    $field=$list.Fields["Applicant"]
    $strSchema=$field.SchemaXml
    $str=Schema$strSchema.Replace("Sortable='"FALSE'"", "Sortable='"True'"")
    $field.SchemaXml = $strSchema
