Asus charger+ and USB 3.0

My PC has multiple USB 3.0 ports on both the rear and front panel, it also comes with Asus software that has a feature called charger plus. Once on this it clearly mentions the fact it can charge I devices such as iPhones and iPads. My issue is once connected my iPad does not show up and the same thing happens for my iPod 5 as well.
Can anyone else share there experiences with this software and confirm if it's just me or do all devices not work?

Thanks everyone for all the help.  GraphiteGal, I received your pm's -- yes, I am in NYC here in the states.
Called ASUS today, and they ran me through the same stuff.  My biggest question to them was - do you know where to get the ASMEDIA drivers directly.  They were puzzled at first and then found me this link: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asmedia.htm
It's not even on the official ASMEDIA site, which is impossible to navigate anyway.
So ASUS told me that their most current driver for my MB was 5-6 revisions older than the one available above.  I installed that and right now, the drives seem to be working in USB 3.0.  I also updated the renesas driver not from the link from above, but from the same station-drivers website.  Ther version found here is slightly newer: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm
My Read/Write speeds on the 3TB drives are now 173/163 MB/s on one drive and 181/176 MB/s on the second drive while plugged into 2 of the 4 rear ports as per the HD Tune Pro file benchmark test.
My card reader seems relatively slow reading a class 10 16GB SD card at around 20 MB/s.  Still not convinced this is proper.
We'll see if this lasts.  It feels like they're solid now because the drives were subjected to multiple tests and manual file transfers without crashing.
These are all the steps I took in case some other poor soul runs into this:
Disable Legacy USB 3.0 Support in BIOS
Disable USB 3.0 Selective Suspend in Windows Power Settings
Update Asmedia driver manually (link above)
Update Renesas driver manually (link above)
In device manager for everything USB 3.0 - uncheck -- "Allow computer to turn this device off to save power"
-- Also important to note is that the ASUS USB 3.0 Turbo feature no longer recognizes the USB 3.0 drives, so it can no longer be enabled as far as I can tell.  I am one bios version behind, but that should not matter in this case.

  • I can't plug in my charger and USB into my Playbook. Therefore, I can't charge me playbook.

Yesterday, I just found out that I can't plug in my charger and USB into my playbook when I want to charge my playbook. Last time that I charged my playbook was 2 weeks ago,I think. And my playbook was 6 months old. I brought it in Christmas, it is Christmas gift for myself. It was my first time buying a blackberry because I thought as a Canadian, I should buy and use more Canadian products, I used to use Ipod and Ipod touch. I am so disappointed with RIM, because it is only 6 months old, my first ipod is about 9 years old now, but it still works very well.
Anyway, I have no idea why this happened, and no idea about how to fix it. Any one can help? I will be really appreciate.
Since I think my playbook is still in warranty, I want to find a RIM station so that they can help me fix it. But I have no idea where it is? I live in Misgauge, near Etobicoke. and also, I just realized that I lost my receipt. I brought it in Bust Buy.
    any one can help?
    Thank you!!!

    Thank you for your response.
I think the female connector on the playbook is the problem, since I am pretty sure that there is no damage on my charger and cable( because I only used my usb cable a few times, and it is always in a drawer. also because it is my only and first playbook, I don't have other cable to verify your question. sorry for that, but I will try to borrow my friends' blackberry cable to verify it, if I can.
However, I have no idea why the female connect broke. It has never ever in any harsh conditions. there is no reason for that.
also, if you would like, could you tell me how I can connect RIM? (i.e. tell me their number or where their service centre is) I would really appreciate.

  • IPhone 4 unable to charge and USB not recognized?

Hi, I've just got my iPhone replaced because the old screen is broken.
    In this new iPhone 4.
The camera rear, when I take photos, there is a slightly transparent black spot. It annoys me, but I chose to ignore.
It was fine all morning, till BAM!
This **** thing came up when I wants to charge my iPhone on my laptop.
My laptop can't recognize the iPhone. Earlier was fine (when I'm copying photos out), then later when I replug it happens.
"USB device not recognized. The LAST USB device you connected to this computer MALFUNCTIONED, and Windows does not recognize it"
This is my first time getting this warning.
Is there any way to reset the USB port, and redetect the iPhone USB?
Also, my iPhone can't be charge! I've tried different cables, different power source. None work.
I assume my cable is not broken because if it is, the my laptop wouldn't detect the USB and that annoying warning won't come up.
    I've have TRIED:
Soft rest and hard reset on iPhone.
Restart/Shutdown laptop. Also, deleted Upper Filter from Registry. Removed laptop charger. Unplug all USB.
    Reset all setting on iPhone.
Clean my iPhone charging port and charger adapter USB.
My iPhone left 10% of battery, and it's 3AM here. There's obviously no apple store open. There also no Genius Bar in my country.
And I've observe my battery gone down to 9% and back up to 10%. While I'm typing this, the battery goes up to 11%.
It's so so so slow. There is no "Charging" sign. Normally, the battery icon on the top right will have a plug sign thingy.
Now it doesn't show anything except for a red battery but percentage is going up so freaking SLOW!
*Also, how to update IOS to 6.1.4 (current 6.1.3)? I don't want IOS7.
    Using:
    Windows 8 64-bit
    Fujitsu laptop
    iPhone 4 IOS6
    iTunes 10.7
Help me, my iPhone is dying. Theres no prob for my old iPhone, geez.

    Just an update:
I spent many hours last night working on my phone, and after leaving it on my docking station for a few hours, it had enough battery to turn on, though it was only a tiny bit of battery. I quickly plugged it into my PC and was able to load the backup from iTunes from about a month ago, so that it was now my phone again. However, straight away the battery died again, and I left it on the docking station all night, but it never charged. Now it no longer shows the battery sign at all, just a black screen.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, as i was checking out the apple website, and as my phone no longer has warrantly it's going to cost me £125 for a service which ain't cheap!

  • Inconsistant Battery Charge from plug-in charger and USB ports

My Iphone occassionaly will not charge using the stock plug-in charger and computer USB port. This doesn't happen all the time but enough that I am somewhat concerned. Anyone else have this issue?

    Your Majesty,
If you believe your wall charger has an issue, you can contact your nearest Apple Retail store's Genius bar or AppleCare to have it replaced.
When charging from a computer, it is important that the computer not go into standby or sleep mode. Some computers will actually drain an iPod or iPhone's battery if they are in sleep mode. In addition some portable or notebook computer's don't provide sufficient power to fully charge the battery when they are running on battery instead of AC power.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Is there a difference between docking charging and USB

I have three types of old classic ipods from 3rd to 5th generation 20G to 80G. Replaced batteries and LCD screen on the 5th generation 80G.
My problem is charging all of the above seems to be a problem. I have a eton docking station at work that sems to charge the ipods but when i conect to my PC, G$ or G3 laptop it drains the battery??? Just to further confuss the story I have a docking station radio at home that does not charge either or charges for a few minutes and them quits.
My question is should i purchase a wall plug USB adapter as was used for the old classic ipods?
    Rob

You need a pair of good cables, period. When I got my i5 and seeing what a battery hog it is, immediately got a second Lightning cable from an Apple Dealer. Both that and the one in the box have worked flawlessly.
So yeah, you've got excellent arguments for demanding a good working set. The fact that one gives the dread "too much power" issue is indicative of an internal short or damage.

  • Ipad Does NOT turn ON even when pressing power/home buttons, plugging through the charger and usb through itunes

Hi, my iPad suddenly froze while downloading a free kid's game, the loudness/soft symbol just kept on appearing no button works even the slide off/cancel. Then it suddenly turned off. I searched for troubleshooting guide, I tried pressing power/home buttons as instructed, charged/uncharged, and connected through usb using itunes but to no avail. What have gone wrong? I bought this in Vietnam but am here in the Philippines and still under warranty. Could I bring this unit to a service center of apple here in the Philippines?

Did you hold the home/power buttons for ten to fifteen seconds until the apple appears?
If still bad, try a restore from within iTunes.
If still bad, take it to an apple vendor for them to test/reinitialize for you.

  • HT1476 My iPhone 4S will charge on a laptop but not from a wall plug. I have tried different boxes and different USB cords from the wall but none work. These boxes and USB cords work for other family members with iPhones. I'm stumped :/

My iPhone 4S will charge on a laptop but not from a wall plug. I have tried different boxes and different USB cords from the wall but none work. These boxes and USB cords work for other family members with iPhones and a USB cord that works from the laptop won't work from 3 or 4 different wall boxes that work for others. I'm stumped :/

Update: It seems as though the phone will charge if I plug it in and then turn it off.  It will not charge while the phone is on.  Also iTunes will not recognize it, so I can't sync or anything.  I read somewhere that it could be a fuse somewhere?? Or maybe the dock connector. Where is the best place to get this repaired?

  • 2011 Macbook Pro suddenly says no space available on start-up disk (plenty available) and USB drawing too much power (only charging phone). What's going on with my computer? No longer able to charge my iPhone 5.

    Hi, all.
Two days ago I was using my computer, a 2011 Macbook Pro, and suddenly got the error message reading "Your Mac OS X startup disk has no more space available for application memory. To avoid problems with your computer, quit any applications you are not using. Closing windows and removing files from your startup disk will also help."
I was only using Google Chrome, nothing was running in the background, and I have 443 of 449.25 GB available (this is after clean-up I conducted after receiving the error message, but probably cleaned up less than 25 GB), so there should be no shortage of space. However, the message kept popping up and I deleted a few files and eventually it went away and hasn't reappeared.
However, last night and then again this morning I have been getting the error message that my USB drive is pulling too much power and has been disable. All that was plugged in was my iPhone 5 on the charger and my computer is also on its charger, so I don't know why this would be an issue, either. I have always charged my phone this way and never had a problem until today.
I haven't been able to charge my phone since. What's going on with my computer?

I got a usb charger for my 4th gen Ipod touch that at first allowed my to charge and transfer music from my laptop to the Ipod now nothing happens when I plug the usb cord and Ipod into my laptop. Its mac so it is an apple system. I am wondering how I can fix this problem I am not very good with techy stuff so this is very confusing how it was working and it just stopped.

    Hi johnsmiff99,
That is never fun when your iPod touch does not show up on your Mac. Take a look at the article below to walk you through on getting it to show back up on your iTunes. It is very easy to read so you wont feel overwhelmed with to much techy jargon. Let me know if you get this worked out.
