ASUS RT-N65U Router - Configuration Settings

Hi
Does anyone have the configuration settings needed for an ASUS RT-N65U Router ?
I've just ordered one as a replacement for my HH3 .
Thanks
Solved!

Installed and all working
I've email ASUS about the Client status list and if it's possible to rename devices so they make more sense.
Would look nicer than having the MAC Address or Hostname.
Apparently this will be  coming in the next firmware release
Thanks

  • Photosmart 3210 wireless connection problems to Mac OS 10.7.5 on MacBookPro via Asus RT-N56 router

My 3210 is connected via ethernet to an ASUS RT-N56 router (new last year). My macbook pro connects via wireless. Also connected via ethernet are two windows PC's. Other family laptops connect via wireless.
All machines can ping the printer successfully, the network sees the printer OK
Everything was working OK for several years (with another laptop before I got the Macbook over 2 years ago) until recently, I think when the Mac OS upgraded to 10.7.5.
Now I have problems printing from the MacBook. When I first power up the macbook & the printer, usually all is OK for a short while, it prints OK. But then  I get error message "the printer is not connected". At the same time as this message is showing on the Macbook, I can ping the printer OK from all machines, including the Macbook and print OK from either PC, but as far as the Macbook is concerned the printer is not connected.
Sometimes after a considerable delay, the printer seems to re-connect to the Mac for no apparent reason. Normally the only way I can restore printing is to delete the print queue, then power down the printer, and the router, wait 5 mins and re-start everything.  It generally works for a few print jobs before the problem reappears.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the printer. I've replaced the cable between the printer and the router.

I would recommend that you download the driver through Apple Software Update.
Before we do that, we want to uninstall any incompatible software you may have installed on your computer by running the HP Uninstaller located under Applications > HP or the Hewlett-Packard folder.
After you do that, we will want to download the drivers. The drivers for your product are available through Apple Software Update.
Before you do anything, temporarily unplug the printer's USB cord from either the printer or the computer. Next, check for any available HP Update's by clicking the Apple icon and then Software Update.
If no updates could be retrieved, download the full HP Printer Drivers v.2.14 from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HPPrinterDrivers2.14.dmg
Once you have completed the installation you will want to plug your printer back in. After the printer is plugged back in, go into your print settings under System Preferences > Print & Scan. To add the printer, click the plus sign. You should see your printer listed here. Select it. If underneath the printer you see "Use:”.  Make sure that says the name of your printer and not AirPrint. Click Add down in the bottom right hand corner.
    Best of luck,
    Kyle

  • How do I print through an ASUS RT-N66U Router?

Since we changed routers to the ASUS RT-N66U router I have been unable to print to any of my net work printers.  What do I need to do?  Is this router not compatible with my system?  I run through a PC XP Professional server.

That is because the new router assigned different IP addresses to your Printers and your Mac is looking for the printer on the old IP addresses. Make a note of the new IPs of the printer and change the settings on your Mac to reflect those.

  • OS X can't see inkjet connected to ASUS WL-520GU router

A long shot but here goes.
Running current Tomato firmware w/ "teddy_bear" USB mod on an ASUS WL-520GU router. The router seems to have everything necessary for USB printing setup AND can see my printer (it's listed in Tomato) I have a Canon i960. Can't seem to add this printer to OS X however.
When I try to add it, I can't successfully select the proper Canon driver. If I do and press Add, a dropdown dialog appears for a split-second and I'm still left at the Add Printer dialog. I've tried alternatives such as PrintFab's driver but the printer doesn't respond.
I'm using the router's address and port number for the printer, which "is valid," 192.168.1.1:9100 None of the protocols (IP, HP JetDirect etc.) have mattered. The only time I ever got ANYTHING from the printer was by adding it with the default Generic PostScript Printer driver which of course is wrong. But it at least lit up.
Tried to add the printer directly within CUPS (web interface, not command line) but it errored at adding the class, with no explanation why. I chose the "Raw" driver in that scenario, based on suggestions of how to do what I'm trying to do but from Windows.

    Hi, bcometa -
When a machine is started (in OS 9) with Shift held down, not only are extensions disabled (selectively - there's a couple or so that are intentionally not disabled), but control panels and things in the Startup Items folder in System Folder are prevented from loading.
The problem causer may be a control panel, or it may be something in the Startup Items folder - or both. It would be something that would attempt to interact with an additional drive, and fails in the attempt. Things in this category can include 3rd-party software, such as: a disk utility like Silverlining or Norton; a security app such as virus software; or most anything else designed to scan or check drives for something.
Sometimes resetting PRAM can help, by forcing the Mac to acknowledge and register a change in hardware configuration during startup.
in fact, un-checking all extensions in extension manager still reproduced the problem; how is that different than booting with shift?
In addition to disabling extensions (selectively, as I mentioned earlier; Text Encoding Converter is one that is not disabled, as I recall), booting with Shift held down in OS 9 also:
    • prevents the loading of control panels;
    • prevents the loading of certain items which are located outside the Extensions folder, loose in the System Folder;
    • prevents the loading of items in the Startup Items folder;
    • prevents Disk First Aid's intrusive checking of the drive after an 'improper' shutdown.

  • Router configuration and Internal Hard Drive

Hi, I was wondering if i installed a new internal hard drive into my computer would i have to reconfigure or reinstall my router? Also a little off topic but should i get a internal hard drive or an internal?

oh ok so all my router settings would stay the same then right. I thought it would change the settings because the old internal hard drive has everything saved onto it such as my network settings and router configurations. Sorry for questions im still a newbie at this stuff.

  • Requirements for ADSL router configuration

I have just bought a Netgear DGND3300 ADSL model and wireless router to replace my very old Draytek router.
The set up Wizard on the Netgear CD ROM couldn't successfully configure the router on it's own, and suggested a manual configuration.  I have accessed the control panel on the router itself and there is another wizard/auto configure application there but it also failed.  So I am resigned to doing a manual configuration.  I happy to do this but I can't for the life of me find a spec sheet anywhere on BT.com that tells me what configuration settings BT Broadband requires.  Am I missing something obvious?  If anyone can point me to a helpful page that would be great.
The types of data I need for the manual configuration are:
    Connection type: e.g. PPPoA?
    Encapsulation method:?
    VPI:
    VCI:
    DNS:
    Dynamic/static IP address: presumable dynamic

Does your connection require a login:Yes if asked
    username: [email protected]
password: leave blank or enter BT if not accepted
    PPPoA

Dynamic unless you've asked for static
The router should pick up the DNS addresses when it connects, hopefully that will get you running.

  • My new HP officejet pro 6830 crashes when I connect to my Asus RT-N66U router

OfficeJet Pro 6830 crashes when connected to network (Asus RT-N66U router)
I've just taken delivery of an OfficeJet Pro 6830. I've installed the ink cartridges and it seems to be able to print copies and test pages, but I can't get it to connect to my network. Here's what I've tried:
    Using the Wireless Setup Wizard
I selected my network from the list and entered my WPA key. It says it's trying to connect, then the following happens:
    1. Briefly (for less than a second) a screen pops up showing that it has successfully connected to the network.
    2. Briefly (for less than a second) the screen flashes blue with a "power" icon and the text "B8B2A4F8" (which I presume is an error code).
    3. The screen display changes to "Printer Error: There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On."
    4. After restarting the printer, it complains that it has not been shut down properly.
Any further attempts to connect yield the same results.
    Ethernet connection
If I power the printer on while it is connected via an Ethernet cable to my network, after about 10 seconds it crashes as described above (steps 2 and 3) without me doing anything at all.
I did manage to get it to connect to a WiFi hotspot on my mobile phone (and I checked for firmware updates, but unfortunately there were none available), so it seems there's something about my network that the printer doesn't like. I have no idea what that could be, however. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Shawnondrums,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer shutting down when attempting to connect to the wireless network.
A very important step that gets easily over looked is, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is back on, please use the on/off button to do a proper shut down and restart.  This will also do a semi power reset on the printer.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Configuration settings for applications ... best practices?

    Hi!
We're currently developing applications for WebLogic (ADF Faces RC, EAR deployment).
Now we arrived at a point where we need some simple configuration settings/properties on the server or the domain. The applications should be able to read these settings, the mechanism should be as simple as possible.
An administrator at the server should be able to update the settings and the applications should pick up the changed values the next time the settings are accessed, without server or application restart.
I wonder what the best way would be to handle this?
    - put them into the database, but then all apps would need DB access to those settings?
    - System env. variable on the server, but how to pick up changes without restart?
    - Property file? Where do I put that so that an admin can easily find and edit it?
What are you guys using? I was kind of hoping that WebLogic would provide some UI in the console app, that enables an admin to set some properties, but I couldn't find one. Is there one?
    Any advice?
    Thanks.
    Sascha

    Hi Sascha,
If you place the properties files in %WEBLOGIC_HOME%/user_projects/domains/[your_domain] then the properties file should be picked up, without having to be placed in a jar file, and in a location that will be easy to find for the WebLogic administrator.
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Cris

  • Configuration settings for FM10 & DITA questions

We are currently using FrameMaker 10 and trying to tweak some configuration settings.
    1. Is there any way to change the default location of the user version of maker.ini? On Windows 7 it defaults to C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\version
I'd like to be able to change this to a network location. (Our FM installation is within a remote server that creates a temporary profile every time you open FM, which means that settings are lost.)
    2. When using DITA, inserting a topicref into a relationship or DITA map you browse for a file. The default file type is .xml. Is there a way to change this so that the default is .dita (or at least all files)?
[I know how to change the default file type when you create a new DITA file to be .dita rather than .xml (DITA > DITA Options) - the setting is in the ditafm.ini file. But this does not impact the default when you browse for files.]
    3. When using DITA and you insert an image, the default file type in the browse window is .JPG. Is there a way to change this?
    4. Is there a way to change the default view for DITA files to show Element Boundaries (as Tags)? Currently you have to set it for each file you open.
[Thread moved to Structured Forum by moderator]

[This would have been better if you split your single posting with multiple questions into separate posts.]
    1. As Jeff says, you can't move the FM specific location, however, you can move an entire Users pofile to another drive/location. This may present  issues with other aplications though, so be wary. Detailed instructions can be found here:

  • Configuration settings in app/web.config or db

Besides a connection string to the db I use I have several other configuration settings (user names/passwords, URIs to third-party services, etc.).
What is the recommended approach to handle such situations:
    - put all config settings in an web/app.config file (encrypted external config files called from the web/app.config)?
    - put only a connection string (encrypted) in the web/app.config file and the other settings in a db table (e.g. Settings)?
    Thanks.

Unfortunatley this is a, 'it depends' question. If your business requirements are such that you need to easily change a configuration via standard tools, e.g. you're hosting an Azure web site, then config file is a great choice. If you have an architecture
where the settings differ depending upon a user login then a database might be a good solution. If your architecture uses security zones then the less you put in a less secure zone the better. Sorry, but, "it depends" is the best I can offer.

how can i connect my macbook pro wirelessly to an hp printer with a asus rt 66acr router?

Firstly, the HP printer must be connected to the ASUS' network. Then, simply connect your MBP to the network and your printer should be addable in Print & Fax in System Preferences.

    Log Message:
Fix typo in error string for situations where there are advanced messaging configuration settings from LCDS used in the configuration files but no AdvancedMessagingSupport service. The error string said that there was no flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingService registered but it is the flex.messaging.services.AdvancedMessagingSupport service that needs to be registered.
Add configuration test that starts the server with a destination that has the reliable property set which is an advanced messaging feature but there is no AdvancedMessagingSupport service registered.

    Hi,
Unfortunately I already tried all kinds of re-installs (the full list is in my original message). The only one remaining is the reinstall of Windows 8 itself, which I would really like to avoid.
What I find really strange is the time it takes for the above error message to appear. It's like one hour or even more (never measured exactly, I left the computer running).
What kind of a timeout is that? I would expect that, if ports are really used by some other application, I get the message in less than a minute (seconds, actually). To me this looks like the emulator itself for some reason believes there's a problem with
some port while in reality there isn't.
I'll eventually contact Microsoft Support, thanks for the suggestion.

    On your SAP system:
    4. Install the BAdIs from the previous version of this product.
    5. Install the BAdIs support package from this version.
