ATT anyone running Fedora Core 4

Can anyone running Fedora Core 4 please compile and run the following code several times and post the output here.
import java.math.BigInteger;
import java.security.SecureRandom;
class RndTest {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        SecureRandom rnd = new SecureRandom();
        for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++)
            System.out.print(new BigInteger(5,rnd) + " ");
}Originally posted http://forums.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=230198 but I have yet to receive a response, hence hope posting in a high traffic forum may get one...
Cheers

I tried it on FC4 with two different versions of java. The GCJ version has the problems you mention. Sun's JDK 1.5.0_05 worked fine.

  • Running Fedora core 6 the Satego P100-10U becomes very hot

    Hi all,
    I run Fedora Core 6 on my Satego P100-10U Notebook. But there is a problem using
    NVIDIA-Driver. After few seconds running Fedora the notebook becomes very hot.
    The NVIDIA sensors show me a core temperature about 100-112 Degrees.
    Is there a solution, how i can fix this?
    with best regards
    Johann.

    Hi
    As you probably know the Toshiba designs and publish the own graphic drivers for the Toshiba notebooksthese graphic drivers are not the same like the original graphic drivers from graphic card manufacture like nVidia or ATI!
    The Toshiba graphic drivers are modified to prevent the graphic cards from overheating!!!
    Usually the notebooks dont provide any special graphic card cooling modules but only the CPU cooling module and therefore the notebook graphic card driver controls the graphic card performance.
    If the temperature increases to the critical level the driver slows down the card to decreases the temperature and warmness producing.
    The original Nvidia or ATI drivers dont support such feature!!!
    In my opinion this is a reason why the card temperature increases to higher level!!!
    Be careful, something like that could damage the graphic card!!!

  • Javax.sound missing with Fedora Core 3 linux's java compiler?

    I'm running Fedora core 3, and I did a complete install(selected all the packeges). I have the java compiler that FC3 installed. I can compile most things, but I seem to be missing the sound package/folder.
    This leads to an error when I try to import the sound libraries.
    //start code
    //simple non-working example
    import javax.sound.*;
    class sounds
    //end code
    results in the error "The import javax.sound cannot be resolved"
    I am trying to run a code snippet from javaAlmanac, and of course it won't work. Today, a friend of mine had the exact same problem on a windows machine using JDK 1.5.
    I'm going to test this code out on a windows machine also.
    Are there issues with the FC3 java compiler?
    Has anyone else run into and solved this issue?
    I'm considering copying the sound folder from some other Java installation, anyone try this?
    Thanks,

    I'm pretty new at this myself. I've also installed Fedora Core 3 on an AMD 64. When I do the same uname - a I get:
    Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-1.667 #1 Tue Nov 2 14:50:10 EST 2004 x86_64 x8 6_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
    Maybe you didn't install as 64 bit ?
    I've also successfully installed Jave Runtime Environment. java -version gets me:
    java version "1.4.2_08"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_08-b03)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_08-b03, mixed mode)
    I'd suggest installing 32 bit. I can't tell the difference when I run programmes that use 64 or 32 bits - it will be just as good.

  • Running FDS2 Express as a service on Linux (Fedora Core)

    Hello,
    I've just installed the Flex Data Service 2 Express on a
    dedicated server running on linux (Fedora Core).
    I can run the server and everything works fine but as soon as
    I loggout, the server stops running.
    I believe I need to run as a "background" service or
    something like that.
    Any hint would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    To run in the background, use the nohup command and redirect
    your output to null or append & to the end of your command

  • Anyone provide accurate info on why after 1 yr, after guarantee period expiry the DVD player on our I mac running Intel core duo processor with OS 10.6.8 refuses to run DVDs? CDs run

    Can anyone provide accurate info on why after 1 yr, ( just after guarantee period expiry) the DVD player on our I mac running Intel core duo processor with OS 10.6.8 refuses to run DVDs?
    CDs run without problem and until recently the DVD we have (all original no pirated copies) ran; we have used a CD cleaner disc to no avail.

    Welcome to the Apple boards:
    I suggest an erase and install and use your backup for any important files you have.
    Did you perform a disk check/repair and permissions repair and a PRAM zap before updating? While not required, they are usually necessary to avoid issues.
    There are so many reasons for a bad install, that it is impossible to list them all.
    Out-of-date software, drivers, etc, haxies, and other software can cause problems.
    My three updates were without incident, so it is possible for a perfect update, but unless you supply us with details about your previous system, programs, apps, drivers, etc., it is not possible to figure out what happened.
    Again, whenever installing an update to an OS, a clone or other full backup is absolutely necessary, as reading the posts on this board indicate.

  • Is anyone running a OCZ Core SSD?

    I have an inconsistency running a OCZ Core SSD with my K9A2 CF.With a regular HDD Samsung HD321KJ no problem whatsoever.
    Sometimes the OCZ Core is very fast and sometimes so slow I get a freeze/hiccup for just a split second.
    File copy goes sometimes with >80MB/s and sometimes with KB/s
    I've made a support ticket with OCZ. It could be the drive is just faulty.
    Is anyone running a OCZ Core SSD?
    I have a K9A2 CF BIOS v1.7

    Quote from: AaronYuri on 23-July-08, 06:01:08
    Sake also keep in mind that the SB600 is a mediocre SB. SSDs should show it's lack of performance.
    Well, the OCZ NON-Core works just fine with SB600. MSI K9A2 Platinum.....
    http://www.anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=3311&p=3
    The SB600 even has higher max throughput as the MCP51...
    It's not performance but occassional short freeze with the SB600 that it makes feel perform mediocre with the MLC based SSD.
    So IMHO pure a matter of compatibility.
    Quote from: Stu on 23-July-08, 05:59:20
    Sorry, but we're all users like you, no MSI staff here. If you want to contact MSI support about it, you'll need to open a ticket at http://ocss.msi.com.tw
    I've contacted MSI. That's no help. I'd guessed that. Obviously not tested (yet) and a matter of luck that it works out of the box.

  • Has anyone got the linux driver installed on Fedora Core

    Hi I've read a heap on the forum about the linux beta driver and the horror people seem to have to install it. I have no idea what I need to do to recompile a copy of the kernel so I am hoping there's someone with Fedora Core 7 that has got this driver to install that would be willing to help me out with it.
    All help would be appreciated
    Thanks.

    Solved with the kind assistance of paulricardomc on the Ubuntu Forums: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1477507
    Short version of the fix:
    1. Extract the edid from the Windows partition using softMCCS, saving as edid.bin
    2. Save the edid.bin file in /etc/X11 (or wherever you like)
    3. Include the following in the device section of your xorg.conf:
    "Option"  "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
    "Option" "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin"
    Fire up X and you're good to go.

  • Oracle 10g on Fedora Core 5

    Is there a pre-packaged version of Fedora Core 5 which includes Oracle 10g for Linux?
    This way, all you have to do is select Install Oracle 10g and it includes any special packages for installing Oracle 10g. Plus, after installation, it automatically starts up the Oracle 10g installer. It could even do the pre-installation stuff such as creating the oracle user. I do not know how, but this oracle user would be the only user using an old gcc compatible with Oracle software. Via its environment maybe?
    Right now, it is a Pain-in-the-neck to install Oracle on Linux. The installation guide Oracle provides is not enough. You have to do a search on the web for pages detailing more info. Or you have to install a special file or set variables to make the Oracle installer think it is installing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I have to hide the gcc that comes with Linux and install an old verison of it. At one time, I even had to compile a library so the java installer could run. This is ridiculous, I should not have to jump through hurdles to install Oracle.
    Does anyone out there have such a set of Fedora Core 5 ISO images? Shoot, FC4 would do too.

    No. I'm not particular to Fedora. Fedora has been a distribution which works on my (please don't laugh) emachines computer at home. I've had Oracle 9i enterprise installed on fedora core 3.
    Ubuntu and Debian are good distros as well. I have not been successfull with Suse though.
    Suse in the past -- the installer could not get the graphics correct -- garbage just displays -- so i could never install it. Maybe SuSe 10 has improved since then.
    I found this about Suse and Oracle. So, this may work for me. Otherwise, i will try Centos.

  • Oracle Linux Calendar 9.0.4.2/10 and Fedora Core 5

    Hi folks --
    I recently migrated from FC4 to FC5 (did a fresh install), and to my chagrin, the Oracle Calendar linux client install is now broken. This was running fine under both FC4 and RHEL 4. Here is the error I receive on any of the installs (silent/text/graphical):

    I know Fedora Core isn't officially supported, but does anyone have a solution for this? Are these just path errors for the JRE as in previous problems with Fedora?
    Also, does Oracle Calendar 10 run any better in FC5?
    Many thanks in advance!

    --------------------------------------------------

    I did some searching, and found that this is a common problem with many applications migrating from FC4 to FC5. This problem is caused due to incompatibility of the installer's Java Run-time Environment with certain system libraries.
    In order to solve this, run these commands on the {OracleCalendar_install/cal_linux_904 file:
    $ cp cal_linux_904 cal_linux_904.bak
    $ cat cal_linux_904.bak | sed "s/export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/#xport LD_ASSUME_KERNEL/" > cal_linux_904
    $ rm cal_linux_904.bak
    Now the installers work fine.

    Read the links, too. This is an old topic now and a pretty standard
    installation procedure for installing CFMX on the newer unsupported
    linux platforms. I have used it for Mandriva and others.

  • Tuxedo 8.1 on Fedora Core 1?

    Hi all,
    I guess this is more a Linux question than Tuxedo one.
    It is not important as I have dual boot and no current problems with XP Pro and
    our target platform is AIX anyway, but I'd like to set up Tuxedo under RedHat
    Fedora core 1. I attempted this but the installer had a problem with the version
    of the C runtime library. The error from memory was something like... version
    on glibc not 2.0 installer requires version 2.0 or something like that.
    I know that the supported version of RedHat Linux is serveral versions back from
    Fedora like RH 7.x or 8 or 9. Is there someway to convince an application that
    the version of a *.so shared object is older than it is? Has anyone got Tuxedo
    to run under Fedora Core 1?
    Is there a quick and dirty work around hack?
    Like I said its not too important... I'd just like to work in AIX and Linux environment
    rather than a Windows XP Pro and AIX one.
    But then I'll miss out on all those virii and random lock ups.
    Thanks,
    Regan Russell BSc.

    I installed a complete copy of Fedora Core 4 and got the server running. But i ran into some problems. JRockit did not work, and some file functions in WLI did not work. Since we did not get any support from Bea because we were running Fedora we installed Red Hat Enterprise instead. If we'd figured out the file thing we would still be running on Fedora. We have not had any other problems.
    Cheers,
    Thomas

  • Sjsws 7 sp5 on fedora core 10 compile error on php 5.2.9

    I am trying to compile php 5.2.9 and get the following error during make: sapi/nsapi/nsapi.c:62:19: error: nsapi.h: No such file or directory

    assuming you have installed web server 7 under /opt/iplanet/current (by choosing /opt/iplanet/current) within web server 7 installer, then php 5.2.9 installation along with its nsapi plugin should go through fine by doing
    ./configure --with-nsapi=/opt/iplanet/current
    you can verify this by looking for /opt/iplanet/current/include/nsapi.h . if you didn't find there, then you web server 7 installation did not go through successfully.
    on a side note, you might always want to use the gd that bundles within php. for example, enabling this directive causes php to use the bundled gd
    '--enable-gd-jis-conv' '--enable-gd-native-ttf'
    otherwise you will run into weird issues.

  • JSP compiler failure under Fedora Core 6

    I recently upgraded a Linux Fedora Core 5 system to Fedora
    Core 6. I had a working JRun4 setup working perfectly under FC5 and
    it no longer works. I realize that this is an unsupported platform,
    but it seems like it is fairly close to working correctly.
    Pages that were compiled under the old system work just fine.
    When the system tries to compile a new page, however, I get the

    Anyone have a clue about what might be going wrong?

    I guess I should have worked a little harder before posting.
    All I had to do was create the directory "classes" under the JRE
    and now everything works fine. I don't have a clue why this would
    be the case. Anyone else?

  • Oracle 9i Client on Fedora Core 3

    Has anyone managed to successfully install Oracle 9 Client on Fedora Core 3? Installing the 10g Client was no problem, but I need to run the 9i Client as the 10g Client cannot be used when connecting to 9i our Management Server.
    All help appreciated!

    you need to tell path to script.
    like /instatntclient_odbc.sh /usr/local
    /usr/local is the place where unixodbc configuration fiels are placed
    If you are done with your setup.
    Can you please let me know whether oracle client software is also required or oracle instant client 10g and odbc will work
