  • Need help with Java Script to perform a calculation in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 form

    I have a form (test) that I am creating in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.
    I need help creating custom Java Script so I can get the desired answer.
    1) There are several questions in each group that require a numerical answer between 0-4
    2) There is a total field set up to sum the answers from all above questions
    3) The final "score" takes the answer from Step 2 above and divides by the total possible answer
    Any help on what Java Script I need to complete this would be greatly appreciated!
    I've attached a "spreadsheet" that shows it in more detail as well as what formulas I used in Excel to get the desired end result.
    Thanks in advance.

    Have you tried the "The field is the average of:"?

  • Acrobat 9 - how do you create a dynamic stamp to include the current date (java script)

    I have seen my question multiple places and times but the resolutions provided have not worked for me.
    I am running Acrobat 9 Pro, cannot run X or XI due to the use of ProSystem fx Engagement.
    I want to create what I thought would be a simple stamp. My initials and the current date. i.e. "crm 01/10/13".
    Simple right? I created a PDF of my initials. Now I just need the text field with the proper Java Script to insert the date, correct?
    I have tried opening "Dynamic.pdf" and copying and pasting the text field that includes the Java Script:
    " event.value = (new Date()).toString(); AFDate_FormatEx("h:MM tt, mmm dd, yyyy"); "
    The date does not update, it stays static.
    I have manually entered the Java Script.
    I have edited the Java Script to remove the "Ex".
    I have edited the Java Script to revise the "yyyy" to "yy".
    I have edited the Java Script to remove the " h:MM tt, " trying different formats to get "dd/mm/yy".
    I have selected "Use single-key accelerators to access tools" in Preferences/General.
    I have tried PDF files, PNG files. I have created the image files from Word and Excel.
    I am at my wits' end. Can someone PLEASE assist me to resolve what should be a simple issue (I hope).
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for your response.
    Your script works well, but I still have the same issue.  The date is remaining static to the system date when the stamp is created.  My initial idea was to create a pdf of my initials "crm" and then add the text field with the java script for the date behind my initials.  "crm" + (TEXT FIELD with JS).  I wanted 3 stamps, red, blue and green.  The colors correspond to specific processes in our workflow.
    Your script adds my initials as well as the date.
    My machine is running Windows 7.
    My stamps are located:
    C://Documents/Acrobat Stamps/...
    Acrobat templates:
    C://Program Files (x86)/Adobe/Acrobat 9.0/Acrobat/plug_ins/Annotations/Stamps/ENU/...
    I have no problem creating stamps, just a stamp that will use the current system date.  I HATE using the typewriter for my initials and the date.  I guess I can stamp my initials and then type the date...but what is the point?
    Do you have any further thoughts or suggestions?
    Thank you very much.
    crm 01/11/13

  • URL Branch with java script  target fails, but works as button press

    I have a java script that displays a "report is loading" message when the page's submit button is pressed via the optional URL redirect attribute of the button.
    Unfortunately, I had to remove the optional URL Redirect so that I could perform some computations and processes as a result of the button press.
    I tried to put the script link in a branch attached to the button, but it failed with the following error.
    ERR-1777: Page 11 provided no page to branch to. Please report this error to your application administrator.
    Restart Application
    After the branch to the java script, there is an unconditional branch to page 11.
    Any one encounter this issue before and, if so, is there a work around?

    Hi
    Can you not use a URL redirect on the button to call your Javascript function - the Javascript will display the message you want to display, then call
    doSubmit('request_name');
    ...to submit your page, picking up all your processes/computations etc
    You then need to define a branch on your page which is conditional on the value of REQUEST - in this case request would be 'request_name'.

  • Using a java script comfirmation in delete record function?

    Hello;
    I am trying to write a confirmation script in Java to delete
    a record. I don't want it to delete the whole table of information,
    just the record teh delete button is attached to using the ID. Here
    is my script, and then the code on the page:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function confirmDelete(id) {
    if (confirm ("Are you sure you want to delete this record?"))
    document.HREF.action="ProjectCat-Action.cfm?id="+id;
    document.HREF.submit();
    return false;
    </script>
    Here is the query I am trying to use it with:
    <cfquery name="catMan" datasource="#sitedatasource#"
    username="#siteUserID#" password="#sitePassword#">
    SELECT Categories.Name AS ViewField1, Categories.CategoryID
    AS ID
    FROM Categories
    </cfquery>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
    <cfloop query="catMan" startRow="#URL.startRow#"
    endrow="#endRow#">
    <cfoutput>
    #ViewField1#
    <form action="ProjectCat-Action.cfm" method="post">
    <input type="hidden" name="ID" value="#ID#">
    <input type="submit" name="proj_Delete" onClick="return
    confirmDelete('#ViewField1#')" value="Delete"></form>
    </cfoutput>
    </cfloop>
    </body>
    #Note: there is code here in my loop query for next and
    previous buttons, I just didn't post that code because it doesn't
    pertain to this question.
    Is there also a way to make the Java Script state in the spot
    where it says, "Are you sure you want to delete this record" to
    make it say "Are you sure you want to delete #ViewField1#?" (the
    name of the record being deleted) ?
    Thank you!
    Phoenix

    just pass 2 arguments to your js function - id AND name of
    category:
    <input type="submit" name="proj_Delete" onClick="return
    confirmDelete(#ID#,'#ViewField1#')" value="Delete">
    and the function:
    function confirmDelete(id,name) {
    if (confirm ("Are you sure you want to delete " + name + "
    category?"))
    document.HREF.action="ProjectCat-Action.cfm?id="+id;
    document.HREF.submit();
    return false;
    but creating a separate form for each category displayed on
    the page is
    very inefficient - you should revise your code... you do not
    even need a
    form, really... just use <a href=...> to call your js
    function, or an
    <input type=button ...> (without any <form ..>
    tags) if you absolutely
    must have a button to click...

    Hi,
    I have to create some PDF reports and contained within these reports there are numerous images, some as many as 30-40. This is really time consuming. Can anyone please advise if there is some java script available so I may Drag & Drop an image onto a button or directly onto the PDF report.
    I have attached an example video of the current process and as you will see the process is very long to say the least. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards

    Hi Gilad,
    Apologies for that I edited the wrong video in my Youtube account.
    You mentioned that its not possible with JS.
    Are you aware of any other options?
    Kind regards

  • Java Script in Templates issue

    I have created a help system for our new financial reporting
    system and a developer has created a template which includes Java
    scripted 'Rate this page' radio buttons and a comments field in the
    header. I have imported the template into my project and attached
    all the topics to this template. When I preview or regenerate/view
    the HTML output and click on the comments field an error is
    returned.
    Our developer can get this to work on his machine but not
    mine (I.E security setting have been set to low but it still wont
    work).
    When I generate on the developers machine, we get our Java
    script code in the headers but not when we generate on my machine.

    Sorry - v rude of me:
    Any help/suggestions would be gratefully considered

    Hi,
    I am not sure why is that statement "WE CANNOT CALL JS from WDJ"???? I did that pretty number of time in my developments. Can you please try the below mentioned way...
    Inside your method what ever you write to open the JS window
    String htmlcontent="Your HTML Content";
    try
    byte[] html=new byte [ 4096 ] ;
    html=htmlcontent.getBytes("UTF-8");
    wdContext.currentContextElement().setVaHTML(html);
    IWDWindow win =wdThis.wdGetAPI().getComponent().getWindowManager()
              .createNonModalExternalWindow(WDWebResource.getWebResource(html, WDWebResourceType.HTML).getURL(),"window Name As per your choice");
    win.setWindowSize(600,600);
    win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.ADDRESS_BAR);
    win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.TOOL_BAR);
    win.removeWindowFeature(WDWindowFeature.MENU_BAR);
    win.show();
    catch(WDURLException url)
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException("WDURLException::"+url.toString(),true);

  • Returning/passing Java script variable/value to PL/SQL environment

    Hi,
    Can someone give me a sample code about how to return a Java script variable to PLSQL environment?
    for example, I have a javascript function that returns timestamp in milisecond, I then want to write PLSQL code to call this java script function and save its value in a number-typed plsql variable for further calculation, I dont know how the two scripting language communicate.
    Thank you very much
    Binh
    null

    This is quite simple.
    I assume that you are able to define html form side through pl/sql. Suppose your new pl/sql value is v_time then in the procedure that you write include one more statement
    htp.p('<Input type=hidden name="v_time" value="">');
    and also in the form invocation,
    htp.p('<form name=app method=post action="time_handler" onSubmit="return false;">');
    and to the end you must be having a submit
    to it attach a onClick function that calls
    simply our validate function..
    eg htp.p('<Input type=submit value="process"
    onClick="validate();">');
    Include in the head portion
    the following script using htp.p procedure
    function validate()
    app.v_time.value=<calculated value>;
    return app.submit();
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I show visitors w/o Java "You need java script enabled to view this site" ?

    I use Firefox as my browser and through the use of NoScript generally do not have Java Scripting active. Although I can often tell just by the behavior of a page I visit that I need to enable some Javascripts, I often get a clear message from the website itself - something like "we see that you do not have Java script enabled, please do so" or perhaps "without Javascript you cannot view this site properly."
    Now, I can just put a general message on the "splash page" saying "this website requires Java script to be enabled" for every visitor to see, but I would rather have the message just for those that need to see it because Java script is disabled.  How do I do that?
    Thanks in advance.
    Karen

    Thank you Marion, I have done that (with you name attached, it was after all your idea!
    BUT - I have discovered the following: dropping the "noscript text on the page to create an HTML object works and the "your browser. . ." text appears when Javascript is turned off, and just where I want it !
    Now I just have to teach myself enough coding that I can set the text size and color and I'll drop this baby on every page. Whoopee!
    This is the script I used. I put a several extra spaces in the code here cause I wasn't sure what effect it would have  on the post and I don't know how to insert one of those script windows in the post.
    <script type="text/javascript">
    document.write()
    </script>

  • HELP!!!!!! - live cycle/java script

    Sorry, but I am very frustrated with Adobe. I have spoken with customer service on the phone and have been on this site at least a dozen times and thus far no one has been able to help.
    I am trying to create a new time sheet within Live Cycle. I originally copied our design from an excel spread sheet as the Live Cycle template did not meet our needs. My problem is I have 10 columns across and 19 rows. I need to have the columns calculate across and then total at the bottom. I believe I need to have Java Script written to accomplish this, however not sure how to proceed.
    I can email the document for help

    I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
    Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
    My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
    So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
    which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
    My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
    so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
    But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
    I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
    Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
    Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
    or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??

The new Oa page should be opened whenever , control goes in Processrequest ... Do we have such command ? can we use pagecontext.redirectImmediately..or any other command ..
    thx in advance

    Yes, you can, what you need to do is
    add a raw text bean in your page.
    Attach this raw text bean to a transient attribute (column) of VO
    populate this column with your javascript function which will open a new window and inlcude its call here
    now whenyour page will render and process request is called ur javascript function is triggered and a new window will be opened.I guess i am clear!

  • Using Java Script in Adobe Acrobat

    I am attempting to create input forms using Adobe Acrobat. I've got the form created, and most of the functionality works. The only issue I'm having is that my end users need to be able to fill out the form, click the Submit button, and the form data needs to be sent to an e-mail address for processing. I don't need the form to be saved and sent as a PDF attachment, I just need the form data to be submitted as the BODY of an e-mail. I was told I needed to write a Java Script for this, but I don't know the first thing about that. Can anyone help me out with a Javascript they already use? I've got a week to make these forms work.

    Most web hosting services will have a mailform type script installed and available for use. If you're running your own web server, such scripts are freely available. The form just needs to be configured correctly to work with the server script. When the form is submitted to the web server, the server-side mailform script reads the incoming data and generates an email that includes the name/value pairs in the body of the email. There are literally thousands of such scripts available, to you'd have to refer to their documentation for information on setting up the form to submit to the script you want to use.
    No scripting is necessary in the form in order to submit to the web server, thought the submitForm method can be used and offers a bit more flexibility. For example, you can use a script to check the form for completeness/correctness before submitting and abort if something is wrong.
    A major advantage of submitting to a web server is it is generally far more reliable than the alternative of relying on the user's system to send the email. It can also be secured relatively easily with HTTPS/SSL, though that just covers the form submission and not when the server sends the email.
