HELP!!!!!! - live cycle/java script

Sorry, but I am very frustrated with Adobe. I have spoken with customer service on the phone and have been on this site at least a dozen times and thus far no one has been able to help.
I am trying to create a new time sheet within Live Cycle. I originally copied our design from an excel spread sheet as the Live Cycle template did not meet our needs. My problem is I have 10 columns across and 19 rows. I need to have the columns calculate across and then total at the bottom. I believe I need to have Java Script written to accomplish this, however not sure how to proceed.
I can email the document for help

I have a vital form that clients fill out, which is passed to many people in the company along the workflow. The form is a Planner and we have in the following PDF, Word Doc..
Well before, the Planner.pdf was originally created in Word, since most people have access to Word.. but evolved to a PDF form created from the Word Doc via Adobe LiveCycle Designer 8.0 w/ User Rights enabled so that the form could be filled out and saved using Adobe Reader.. which was a step better than Word.. being that it is free. But this needed to be easier and more to the point b/c some clients don't particularly like installing the latest version of Reader, even if you provide them the link. Nor do they like saving the form, filling the form, and attaching the form to send back.
My goal is to have the client fill an HTML version of the form, submit and be done with it, but everyone in the workflow be able to easily receive the filled Planner as a PDF form.
So some months ago I ran into this post Chris Trip, "Populate Livecycle PDF from mySQL database using PHP" #8, 22 Sep 2007 4:37 pm
which uses the command line Win32 pdftk.exe to merge an FDF file into an existing PDF on the remote server, and serve this to whoever.
My problem was with shared hosting and having the ability to use the Win32 pdftk.exe along with PHP which is predominantly used on Linux boxes. And we used a Linux box.
so i created the following unorthodox method, which a client fills the HTML version of the Planner, all field values are INSERTED into a table in MySQL DB, I and all filled planners that have been filled by clients to date can be viewed from a repository page where an XML file is served up of the corresponding client, but someone would have to have Acrobat Professional, to import the form data from the XML file into a blank form.. altoughh this is simple for me.. I have the PHP file already created so that when a Planner is filled and client submits. >> the an email is sent to me with a table row from the repository of the client name, #, email, and a link to d-load the XML file,
But I also have the PHP files created so that the Planner can be sent to by email to various people in the workflow with certain fileds ommitted they they do not need to see, but instead of the XML file beiong served up i need the filled PDF Planner to be served.
I can do this locally with ease on a testing server, but I am currently trying to use another host that uses cross-platform compatibility so i can use PHP and the pdftk.exe to achieve this, as that is why I am having to serve up an XML file b/c we use a Linux server for our website, and cant execute the exe.
Now that I am testing the other server (cross-platform host), just to use them to do the PDF handling (and it's only $5 per month) I am having problems with getting READ, WRITE, EXECUTE permissions..
Si guess a good question to ask is can PHP do the same procedure as the pdftk.exe, and i can eleminate it.
or how in the heck can i get this data from the DB into a blank PDF form, like i have described??

    Just a thought, but shouldn't you be calling "verify()" instead of "SUBMITTED()" in your onClick handler? And warnerja is right, javascript is not really java.

  • How do I get expert help to solve Java Script error in PS?

    My Photoshop CC (and previous versions) do not see Java script, therefore any automation functions do not work.
    I have been dealing with Adobe support in India since September and have had no resolution. Although they keep saying the case has been escalated, I have yet to talk to anyone who seems to have any understanding past following a check list.
    Please help- how do I get in touch with someone who can actually troubleshoot the problem?

    I think an extension is the most likely culprit.
    Tools > Add-ons > Extensions category
    * You might try updating your extensions, in case updates are available. The "gear" icon > Check for Updates is the easiest way
    * If no updates are available or the problem persists, try to '''disable''' all nonessential extensions (i.e., all the ones you do not absolutely need to tolerate using Firefox today). Simply click all those Disable buttons and then restart Firefox.

  • Please help: Running a java script form the windows command line.

    Hello forum,
    I'm trying to run a java script from the command line on
    windows but I always get the "Failed to open document" alert.
    I typed the following in the run command line:
    "flash.exe" C:\Documents and Settings\Hasan.Atieh\My
    Documents\science\java scripts\testing jsfl\get_files_mx2004.jsfl
    now I copied and pasted the path of my java script file from
    the windows explorer address bar so I'm sure that the java script
    file exists in the specified path.
    Any thoughts why am I getting the message!!

    :oops: never mind... issue resolved. I didn't quote the java

    this is what flash help say:

    "flash.exe" myTestFile.jsfl

  • Help required in Java Script

    As far as I know the variables that are used inside java script program are declared using var keyword.
    Suppose I assign in the following manner,
    var str="Hello";
    Is there any way I can using the String functions that java.lang supports . I want to do validaition at the client side. Therefore I assume there is no mandatory requirement , that the client has anything java on his system.

    Javascript already supports many of the java.lang functions, eg, substring(start, stop), length, splice, split, etc.
    Just remember your using Javascript so there may be variations with methods and signatures.
    Have a look at either Netscapes or Microsofts Javascript reference.

    I really nead some help with an essay that i have for tommorow. With the proper graphics the interface must allow the users to chose time , movie , date , and a spot in the cinema! the spot should be selected from a "picture" (like a diagramm or something) of the cinema which will be displayed on the screen...

  • Help needed in Java Script

    HI all,
    can anyone tell me what is the meaning of following code ? Please !!
    Code
    <script language="JavaScript">
    function enable_button()
         document.form1.SelectBut.disabled =false;
    <td><font size=4 color="Blue">Please Select the .CSV file to e-mail</font></td><input type=FILE Accept="csv/*" size=30 name="acsvfile" title="Find a vaild .CSV file and Click SEND_EMAIL button" onclick="onChange=enable_button()"></tr>
    </table>
    Thanx in advance.
    Regards,
    Ashvini

    The form has a file input button (acsvfile) and a submit button (SelectBut). The SelectBut is initially disabled until the user clicks on the acsvfile button to select a file for upload.
    However I don't believe that it works the way that it i intended. The enable_button function gets called on the onClick event and the SelectBut will always be enabled even if the user cancels the file selection.
    You may want to remove the onClick and use :
    function enable_button()
        if (document.x.acsvfile.value == "") {
             document.x.SelectBut.disabled =true;
        } else {
            document.x.SelectBut.disabled =false;
    <td><font size=4 color="Blue">Please Select the .CSV file to e-mail</font></td><input type=FILE Accept="csv/*" size=30 name="acsvfile" title="Find a vaild .CSV file and Click SEND_EMAIL button" onChange="enable_button()"  onKeyDown="blur();"   ></tr> This will only enable the SelectBut if the user selects a file but will not allow the user to manually enter a file. You may want to be nice and add a clear button tp remove any files they have selected.

    Hello,
    Appreciate if anyone could help me using Java Script in Oracle Forms 10g?
    Thanks

    Thank you for your reply. I was reading on the metalink that we could use the to call the java script from oracle Forms 10g (Doc ID 265863.1)
    Example:
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('javascript:void(window.open("http://www.oracle.com","","location=no,toolbar=no,menubar=no,status=no,"));self.close()','_blank');
    I tried it but it did not open the any window as it claims. Am I missing anything? Is there any IE related setting which I need to modify for the above to work?

  • Sreaming at the top of my lungs for HELP with Java Script problem!

    Hello,
    I have this strange problem that no one seems to know why or how to fix it.Whenever I encounter a web site that has java scripting for anything pop ups or redirects to url's anything that says java script when I mouse over the link my browsers do nothing.That is for explorer 6.0 beta netscape 4.7 and netscape version 6.I have tried in another forum some suggestions but nothing changed even though I am told nothing is wrong with the java scripting.I used to be able to click java script's with all of these browsers but no longer.That was a few months ago.Now to try something new I tried to see if a new browser would work.I now have the latest version of Opera.It did work but using Opera on some sites limits what I can do so it doesn't solve my problem.Then I tried the Sun JavaHot browser it also worked but limits what I can do on some site's.I have Windows 98 & updated most of my dll's etc & my java is version 2 1.3.1.My java script is enabled in Explorer & netscape's & the security is at a minimum level.Please help me figure out why these other browsers work but the other's do not.I want to edit a web site of mine but I can't because of this problem.I am very frustrated by this and need as detailed help as I can get.Anything of a suggestion would be very much appreciated.But I am also not an expert on the working's of a computer so bear with me.

    Hi,
    Well I am thinking that if anyone could know something about Java script it would be java developers.But anyways I had the previous version of explorer 5.0 & the java didn't work in it either.Now how weird is this,I opened netscape 4.7 today & the java scripts are suddenly working.This has me scratching my head wondering if my computer is possesed by some force beyond my capability to know...????Weird as it seems though the explorer still will not respond to a java script.
