Audigy 2 ZS and Home Theatre Recei

I'm having trouble getting my Audigy 2 ZS to pass a multi-channel signal to my Digital Recei'ver. I have the Digital Dongle that you guys sell and I have it connected to the Coax in on my Denon Dolby Digital/DTS receiver, but sound only comes out of the front right and left speakers, nothing else. How do I get the soundcard to pass the multi-channel audio from a game or DVD to the receiver, so that it'll play a DD/DTS signal?

Bisk,
When you are playing music/games through a coaxial/optical SPDIF connection, then that is normal. Those types of connections can only pass over either a stereo PCM signal, or an encoded stream.
You can find more information on this page:
http://us.creative.com/support/kb/ar...p?l=2&sid=4438
If you're playing a DVD it should work fine, as the signal you're passing through is AC3 (encoded stream). Just make sure you set the audio option (for the decoder) on the card to Passthrough, and the same for the DVD playback software.

  • PC and Home Theatre Hookup....need advice

)PC and Home Theatre Hookup....need adviced Ok, I'll try not to sound so illiterate......
I am in the process of connecting my PC to my home theater setup and have the following:
. The computer has the X-Fi Platinum Fatality card with the I/O Bay
    2. The A/V receiver is the Sony STR-DG70...it has the Optical and Coaxial digital inputs and it does have the dts logo
    3. Polk Audio 5. speakers connected to receiver
    4. The Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-60
    Now the questions:
. Could I have just used the Flexijack connection on the card running to receiver digital optical input? I am not using the I/O 3/2" bay that came with the card....don't have an extra bay to install in the new case?
    2. Could I have just used the Sound Blaster Digital I/O Module from the Flexijack connection on the card?to receiver digital optical input?
    3. Or do I need to use the Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-60? And if so is the Optical connection the best of the two?
Thanks so much for any help,
    Kenny

  • Connecting computer and home theatre to insignia TV

I just bought a denon home theatre surround sound.  I have my insignia TV connected to my XBOX, blu ray, and computer.  Is there some way I could connect all these things to my TV and have them play through my surround sound?  Basically can I use my free HDMI port to play all these things through my surround sound?

    You have two options here...
You can do an all HDMI connection using your Denon receiver as a hub, or you can go all sources via HDMI straight to the TV using and optical out connection back into your Denon receiver set.
The computer may make the Denon connection problematic.

    People just don't GET audio.
A PC is not like a DVD player. One of the main reasons for AC3 and DTS is that the media on which motion pictures are typically stored (ie. the DVD) does not have enough storage capacity to hold a feature-length's worth of multi-channel audio.
The reasons why the actual AC3/DTS stream is sent over a physical cable to the receiver are many:
) Content providers don't like the idea of uncompressed and unencrypted audio transmitting over cables which can easily be intercepted and copied bit-for-bit.
    2) Since not everyone has surround sound speakers, it doesn't make sense to add cost to the DVD player by having AC3 and DTS decoders on board.
The major difference between DVD's and games in terms of audio is that for DVD's the sound is already pre-recorded and only needs to be played back. For games, the sound mix is created interacti'vely. The fact that the sound in games is created interacti'vely makes a technology such as AC3/DTS irrelevant because ) it doesn't need to be stored which means there are no constraints leading to the need for compression, and 2) there is no issue with content protection because the interacti've sound mix coming from a game does not in and of itself represent someone's intellectual property (like a music recording or movie soundtrack).
The fact that AC3/DTS is digital is incidental. "Digital" is not magic, its just a convenient storage format. ALL sound ultimately must be converted to an analog signal to be played on speakers. On PC's which haven't been typically connected to home theater receivers, there is no point to doing this digital-analog conversion anywhere but the soundcard itself. Thus, digital speakers for PC's, when used exclusi'vely with a PC, are mere gimmicks.
Now, you may understand all this yet still argue that the ability to output AC3/DTS from a PC serves a purpose. This way, a PC can be used as a home theater server that is ALSO capable of playing games, with ALL sound (games included) encoded in the AC3/DTS format. It may be convenient if your receiver does not have the multi-channel analog inputs necessary to get surround in PC games, especially if you have unused optical/coax inputs on your receiver. For this situation, Creative has developed the DTS-60 external decoder device. Yes, it is another $00 bucks, but think of it this way: the real-time AC3 cards generally cost around $00, but they have none of the other 3D audio hardware acceleration offered by the X-Fi. The X-Fi (cheap version) costs around $00 bucks but doesn't included the encoding stuff. AC3 or DTS encoding is NOT free. If you feel that you don't need the hardware acceleration of interacti've 3D audio offered by the X-Fi, go ahead and buy a HDA-Mystique. If you want the best, get an X-Fi and the DTS-60 (when it comes out).
I'd imagine that in the future, Creative will come out with a soundcard that features integrated DTS Interacti've encoding.

  • How to connect Apple TV to DVD blu-ray home theatre

Hi guys, I am planning to buy Apple TV2 and I was wondering is there setup guide for connecting to HDTV and home theatre system. I currently have LG HDTV and LG DVD Blu-ray Home Theatre. They are connected with HDMI 1.3 cable and I had to get optical cable to get sound from TV to Home theatre.
How is Apple TV fits into that? I have 1 HDMI slot free on TV and 2 HDMI inputs on DVD system.
I was thinking just to connect Apple TV to DVD via HDMI? Would that put sound on home theatre system?
    Thank you in advance.
    ddrasko

You have read home theatre manual about playing sound from external device.
You doesn't need to connect home theatre to tv at all as you have get video from apple tv.
Connect video output from apple tv to tv(may carry sound along) and optical cable from apple tv to home theatre.
That will do. You can mute sound of tv(in case hdmi carry sound along) or using other function(on samsung ) and hear from home theatre sound from speakers.

  • Digitally Connecting Soundblaster audigy 2 to sonydav s550 home theatre sys

Hi, I have a Soundblaster audigy 2 im not sure which model but it has a pink digital out audio socket on the back of it. My sony system has a digital optical in socket on it. I am having problems connecting them. I brought the following
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...gital&doy=26m5
as it has a miniplug adaptor which i thought I could use on one end to connect to my soundcard digital output and connect the other end to my home theatre system. Did I get the wrong wire? If so what wire will I need to connect them, will miniplug not fit on the soundblaster digital out, what does? I have messed around with the control panels with no luck. Anyone have any ideas, by the way Im new to this. Thanks in advance

    Hello all,
I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.
Please help, I read the recent post on digital out ,which helped some, but still the question remains... if you connect the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS to a Sony receiver will this damage the receiver?Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:38 AMMessage Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:39 AM

  • How do I stream iTunes content to my home theatre using any combination of a MacBook Pro, an iPhone 4s, and a PS3 using only a LOCAL network?

I have found many solutions to this problem assuming home internet access, but I only have access to the internet via my iPhone. I do not want online capability in my PS3. All I want to be able to do is control iTunes on my MacBook, and hear/view the content on my home theatre. I would prefer to use my iPhone as the remote for iTunes, and do not want to add the monthly cost of home internet to this equation. I do not require access to anything on my MacBook except iTunes in this application. I would prefer to use iTunes and stream to my home theatre, as opposed to setting up my MacBook as a media server and using the PS3 interface. Is this possible? Can I accomplish this goal using a local network? Can I create a wifi network on my MacBook to do this, or do I need a router? I am looking to spend as little as possible on this project, as I plan on moving to a more urban area soon, and will be buying Apple TV and subscribing to home internet service when this happens.

Get an AirPort Express.  It has an audio out which you can connect to the line-in on your home theatre system.  All the other devices will talk to the AirPort Express and stream content to it via wi-fi.

  • How can I play my ITunes music stored on my IMac via Apple TV through my home theatre system and control it from my IMac?

My ITunes library is stored on my IMac which is connected to B&W desktop speakers. My music system is connected to my IMac via USB through a Benchmark DAC. I use Pure Music software and am able to simultaneously play music on my IMac in my study and my main music system in the living room.
My home theatre system is connected by Apple TV via the home network to the IMac. I can access my ITunes library from the TV using the Apple TV remote control. But when I try to play music from the computer and stream to the TV / home theatre, I am unable to make the connection. I tried activating Airplay, but I still cannot get the music to play.
I would appreciate any advice on how to set this up.

Thanks for the suggestion. I subsequently realized that my Airplay settings on ITunes are ok. The problem is with the settings on Pure Music. I still havent figured this out. When i stream using just ITunes, it works fine, but when I play music using ITunes / Pure Magic, I still have an issue with Apple TV.

  • Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv?

Can I connect 2 sony bravia's, a sony home theatre, 2 macbooks, 2 ipads, 3 iphones and a dell laptop and stream media from my apple devices to my tv? I have a sony bravia 600 series and 700 series and a home theatre( sony 7100 series)

The only way to stream directly to your TV would be if it is an AirPlay-enabled device.
There are many AirPlay-enabled devices but I am not familiar with Sony's products. If yours do not specifically indicate AirPlay capability, then you need an AirPlay-enabled device such as an AppleTV connected to your Sony TV or Sony AVR.

  • Question on hooking up an Audigy 2zs to my home theatre syste

im trying to hook up my home theatre system to my pc. does anybody know if the "creative sound blaster digital I/O module cable" (which is an adapter that converts /8" headphone jack to a digital optical cable), is compatible with the Audigy 2zs card? so far i heard its only compatible with the audigy 2 value card..why not the 2zs?
Message Edited by listento3 on 06-27-2006 :6 AM

    listento3,
Are you referring to the Digital I/O module unit's If that's the one, then no, I'm afraid it doesn't work with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard. If your HT system works with coaxial input, you can use coaxial instead of optical.

  • Bravia Sync does not work with Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.

Bravia Sync does not function with my Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B and Sony BDV-N8100W Bluray 3D Home Theatre System.  The Sony Bravia XBR-55X900B does not list the Sony BDV-N8100W on the Bravia Sync device list.  Does anyone have an explanation or solution for this?

Please use a component cable.  With either RCA or optical for audio.  That is the quickest fix.  For current HDMI issues.
1.7 upgrade has been known to fix most of the HDMI issues.  Verizon is working diligently to roll out img 1.7.

  • Home theatre and blu ray

We purchased an LG home theatre with a blu ray player  included a little over a year ago. A couple days ago the blu ray player stopped playing all discs - blu ray, regular or even CD. I am wondering if we were to go out and purchase just a blu ray player would we be able to hook this up to our surround system or are we forced to buy a whole new surround system? Thanks for the info.

Without knowing the model number of what you go its hard telling. But chances are you have a Home Theater in a Box where the player acted as the receiver as well. If everything including the speakers plugs into the back of the player you will have to buy a whole new system. This is probably the most massive drawback of those kinds of HTiB's. The better ones have a dedicated receiver.

Your stereo receiver will not be surround. When did you buy that home theater in the box? Sounds like you need a receiver. Your post is a bit hard to understand.
