Audigy SE in Vista won't output 44.1Khz digital. Please please h

Hi?I just bought an Audigy SE to use with my new Vista computer. According to the specs it should be able to ouput digital in either 44. 48 or 96 khz. However with the latest driver, I can only select 6 bit 48khz or 24bit 48khz. Is there any way to fix this? How can you advertise the card with features it won't support? I can't even return the card without paying a 5% restocking fee!?Any help would be greatly appreciated

does the card have an audio creation mode? if sdo - that may be your path to 44.K @ 6 bit?although, do make sure your audio doesnt sound slower during replay as some have experienced with other hardware....

  • Windows Vista won't support my M

Sorry - me again. I have a Creative Zen 20mg and Windows Vista won't load the CD. I then looked for various download options online and have been told that they won't work with Vista and Creative have no plans to change this. I need to upload my music to the PC! Is there any way that I can sort this some other way? I've seen from the other threads that there aren't drivers available. ?Many thanks.Message Edited by Ellymoo on 03-02-20080:57 AM

There are several components you would need to install for access to the player. ALL must be installed in Compatabilty mode for XP. In addition to the one you listed The Creative Nomad Jukebox plug-in is one of the components that needs to be installed if you have not. The version number is 2.00.20. http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=9320 The other component after that one is the Creative Nomad Explorer version 3.0.0http://support.creative.com/download...ownloadId=8069

My Acer Aspire 180 Desktop PC  with Windows Vista won't boot up and has a Recovery error message that says it shut down unsuccessfully. Can someone help me with this issue?

If you have Recovery Disk then try to repair install. If you do not have then you have to contact Acer Support for getting them.
Once it is recovered you must update the Graphic Card Driver. Visit the website of the Graphic Card manufacturer to update it.

  • ["SOLVED"] PulseAudio - some applications won't output sound sometimes

So, I have KDE 4 and PulseAudio installed, with VLC as Phonon's backend software.
After startup, I often find that Skype won't output sound at all for seemingly random periods of time. This also often happens (sometimes simultaneously, but not necessarily) to Chromium. Pavucontrol and the KDE audio mixer, don't show anything useful at all in terms of the output of Skype and Chromium, and messing with master output in Pavucontrol doesn't affect anything.
After a completely random period of time (usually a very long period of time), these applications start outputting sound again. It's very frustrating, and restarting the applications doesn't help whatsoever. While these two applications are affected, all other applications output sound perfectly.
I don't even know. I've searched, but I haven't found any similar problems documented elsewhere. Any advice?
    EDIT: Solved, for now.

I fixed it (for now, at least!)
    I ran the below command:
    $ cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [U0x46d0x804 ]: USB-Audio - USB Device 0x46d:0x804
USB Device 0x46d:0x804 at usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.2, high speed
    1 [MID ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID
HDA Intel MID at 0xf9ff8000 irq 47
    2 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfbd7c000 irq 17
Basically, my USB webcam, which also acts as a microphone, was being treated as my default sound card. I changed this by creating a file in /etc/modprobe.d with the following:
    options snd-hda-intel index=0
Which set my real sound card as default:
    $ cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [MID ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel MID
HDA Intel MID at 0xf9ff8000 irq 47
    1 [NVidia ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfbd7c000 irq 17
    2 [U0x46d0x804 ]: USB-Audio - USB Device 0x46d:0x804
USB Device 0x46d:0x804 at usb-0000:00:1a.0-1.2, high speed
The problem isn't ENTIRELY fixed. Skype's still being a bit buggy, but at least Chromium is now playing sound, including in Flash media. Strangely enough, after playing a Flash video (e.g. on YouTube), Skype's sound seems to fix itself if it's defunct.

  • Vista won't start after fresh install of LabVIEW & 4G RAM

Since Vista is such a memory glutton I decided to upgrade my AMD64 box to 4 Gig RAM.  Good idea, no?  Turns out not.  Now Vista won't start.  It locks up at the (lack of) progress bar before the log-in screen.  After much hollerin' and hair pullin' I reinstalled Vista and now it sees 3.25 Gig.  I install updates; everything looks good; I install LabVIEW 8.0 and activate it.  At restart WinDoze Vista won't start.  Now I want to scream.  My Linux (Ubuntu Gutsy) partition runs fine and indicates 3.9 Gig RAM.
What is LabVIEW installing that has caused this?  Does anybody have a place to start looking?
Thank You for reading my rantings
    LabVIEW 8.0.1; WinDoze XP
    aut viam inveniam aut faciam

Well, NI doesn't claim LabVIEW 8.0 is Vista compatible.
If you did the full install, you probably also installed Device Drivers and such. If you used the ones released with 8.0, they are definitely not Vista compatible.  Those device drivers will try to load during Vista bootup.  If you did, you will need to do a clean uninstall following this procedure.  Download the latest drivers from NI's website and see if that fixes your problem.

  • Macintosh IIsi won't output video

I recently got my hands on a Macintosh IIsi that refuses to boot, I get the startup tone, the hard drive spins, and the indecator lights light up but it won't output video. I have tried multiple monitors and different display adapters without success. I want to know what the next step to fixing it

    zmclearan,
Are you using a PC monitor and adapters or do you have access to an original Mac monitor?  When you say that it refuses to boot, is it just that you can not see the startup screen?  How long does the hard drive noise last?
The next step is the process of elimination.  Check the PRAM battery first.  A dead battery will affect the video circuit in many machines.  Look online for batteries with free shipping.  If you go to Radio Shack, they will have replacement batteries that cost more than the computer.
A way to avoid buying a battery is to do what is called a "warm boot."  You start the computer, listen for the chime, give it ten seconds, then hold down the command key + control key + the soft power key (the key at the top right hand of the keyboard or top center on some smaller keyboards).  If you hear the chime again then it restarted.  This gives the computer a fresh start with power supplied by the wall power and not the battery power.  For newer computers, you turn the computer on at the power button, turn it off and back on immediately.  That will wake up the video circuit on a Quadra 605 or a 6100 PPC.  I do not remember ever needing to do that on an 030 processor computer so the on-off-on trick may only be for the power supplies in the 605 form factor.
If you can find a PDS to NUBUS adapter you could test to see if the onboard video is bad by using a NUBUS video card.  The IIsi uses built in RAM so it will not be a video RAM problem.  How much RAM do you have?  The chime means that you have some form of RAM.  Incommpatible RAM or no RAM will result in a sad musical sound.
Your best alternative for testing older computers is to find a Mac user group in your area.  Someone will have spare parts, monitors and other resources.  Your video adapter may not be properly configured and the easiest way to test that is on another machine that you know works with your monitor.  Unfortunately, buying the battery is just a gamble.  It that does not fix it, you have just spent good money on a bad motherboard problem.  Post back with the name of a city near you and maybe we can find a user group to help out with parts.

  • Vista won't recognize jars

    Hi!
I got a new computer with Vista, to which I have installed the latest JRE. The problem is that Vista won't recognize jars as executables, or even a valid file type for that matter. When I try to run a jar I get the regular Windows "Which program would you like to open this file with?"-dialog. When I run the jar from the command line, everything seems to work fine though.
    Any ideas?

Uninstalled and reinstalled the new update. I even ran the setup as admin, but no dice. And there's no Java settings in the control panel either.

Hi there,?I got the Audigy 4 running under Vista 64 Bit. The onboard Soundmax, connected to the speakers in my?Monitor?is acti've, too. The Audigy is connected to a 5. System from Teufel. With XP64 all ist working fine: The systemsounds come out of the monitorspeakers and the sound generated by mediaplayer etc. come from the 5. Sytem.Under Vista it is not possible to get a fine sound from the 5. System - if something is working, then only the satellites are working. The subwoofer is quiet. Also the sound from the 5. system is very bad, with a lot of breaks and so on. What?s this? How can I resolve this problem?By XP64 I have the possibility to change settings in Mediasoucecenter ... here I got nothing... rgds?McInternet?

I'm running the Audigy 4 with Vista 64-bit and it's working okay for me. It's not great - and it's pretty substantially crippled, but I'm getting sound. I would love to have proper EAX support and just some simple bass and treble controls, but it is working for me (using the March 9th drivers).

  • Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!

=Audigy 2 ZS, Vista x64: Finally got bass redirection working!B Hey guys,
I have hooked a Teufel Concept G to my Audigy 2 ZS. The Speakers do not have internal cross mix, so unless the sound card provides a bass signal there will be NO bass at all. This has not been a problem under linux, since it automatically configures the sound card to send out bass, but very frustrating in Windows Vista x64. GTA4 is no fun without bass ;-)
After endless searching and messing with different drivers (breaking the whole vista sound system) I coincidently got bass redirection (and CMSS2 apparently) working today.
These are the steps I took:
. Fresh install of Windows Vista x64
    2. Installation of Audigy 2 drivers provided by WindowsUpdate, did not download from Creative Labs
    3. Use an old CtPanel-App which actually could activate bass redirection and CMSS2?
    I uploaded the App:?

If you start the App it will take ages until it pops up, but then it works just fine. Feedback appreciated!

    Thanks for your reply
I am sorry for the problem you are facing.
To achieve outputs from all the speaker during speaker test, you will need to have an analog connection, or digital DIN connection.
That will be possible if you connect the three line out jacks on your soundcard, to the three audio input (analog jacks->green,black,orange) on your speaker, if it has this connection. Or, you may connect them using Digital DIN, if they have this connection.
If you are using digital connection (coaxial, optical), there will be no way to achieve sound output from all the speakers during 5. speaker test, as they carry stereo signal.

    Dear Martin
    Thanks for your reply
Your soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS
Your speaker is Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500
You will need to have a 3:3 cable(with the color green, black, orange)
to connect your soundcard to your speaker, to achieve the 5. effects
    with games.
    Below is the connection:
    - Connect line out jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Front' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the green color
    connection
    - Connect line out 2 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Rear' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the black color
    connection
    - Connect line out 3 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Center/Subwoofer' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the
    orange color connection
Once you have done the correct connection, play the game DOOM3.
Ensure you have selected either the EAX or surround option in the game
    settings.
    Does it work?

    Thanks for your reply
All commercial digital connection eg. optical or coaxial cable will only
carry PCM stereo signal. If you want to output the signal to a surround
    5. with extra EAX environment effects, it will not be possible at all
since it is only restricted to stereo channel signal.
As per current industry limitations, we are bound to follow the standard
one-signal output for all our SPDIF and Optical output jacks. This is
something that is currently shared by all vendors for all products.
Please note that all games are not dolby digital, even they are , it
will require certain motherboard to encode it to dolby digital signal,
which our soundcard does not support.
You can only use analog connections to gain true 5. surround for

Subject: RE: CLE - Technical Support Request (KMM8875697I6636L0KM)
    Dear Martin
    Thank you for the reply.
Computer games written with support for 3D audio do not require a Dolby
Digital Interacti've Content Encoder (DICE) to output multichannel sound,
with no exceptions. Sound devices that support the real time encoder
technology from Dolby will simply receive the multichannel wave file
output and encode it in real time to a somewhat modified Dolby Digital
bitstream. Creative does not support the Dolby Digital Interacti've
Content Encoder on any of its sound cards.
The only difference between a Sound Blaster card and an audio card that
has a real time encoder, is that you can make a one-wire, digital
connection from your audio card to your home theater receiver and enjoy
discrete multichannel sound from the game. However there will be a
continuous, slight delay, known as "latency", as the encoder is creating
and transmitting the bitstream, and of course the compression scheme
being used is "lossy" (i.e. not bit-accurate).
If you want to enjoy 3D audio in 3D enabled PC games in multichannel
surround sound with a Sound Blaster card, it is recommended that you
connect the analog outputs of the sound card directly to the analog
inputs of the receiver. This will require 3 cables for 5. surround
sound, one for front right and left, one for rear left and right, and
another one for front center and subwoofer. Though it requires more
cables than a real time encoder system, it will not have any latency
issues. When connecting PC audio to a home theater receiver, Creative's
latest sound cards such as Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Audigy 2
are likely to provide higher quality audio than any Dolby Digital real
time encode system available for the PC today.

McRae rally 04,FIFA 2004,Meddle of honour pacific assault, Rome, Shadow
ops, All these games have EAX HD, which is enabled within the options
    menu
"in-game", But I do not get ANY use out of the rear's and I might as
    well
    listen in stereo.
No, inspire 5500 does not automatically switch while "in-game" when DD
is present as you would expect, but does if it was a Movie, which makes
    me
think the DD stream isn't getting to the processor.
I originally thought I could put all this to rest if I could buy the
    control
panel that would have come with the Sound card if I had not tried to
    save
money, but every time I search your accessories site I get completely
    lost,
it really isn't user friendly, the sub-menus are very time consuming and
point you in the wrong direction because they are not categorised as Joe
    public would understand
I downloaded your TEST Movies and creative demo player utility, ran it
    but
still no EAX HD or DD if that were present.
I want to put this card and Processor into my boys computer (which is
    the
same Spec as mine and I will update to the FX series, but I am unwilling
    if
I cannot find a logical reason why this set-up cannot work first.
Would it have anything to do with the pins on the Digital out on the
    sound
card plug, the one I bought and was attached to the last email? Only
    sending
certain channels down to the processor?
    Regards
    Martin

    Dear Martin
    Thanks for your reply
Your speakers are fine as you mentioned that there is sound from all the
speakers when you are playing movie.
May i know what game are you playing when there are no sound from the
    rear speakers?
Have you done the appropriate settings in the game to achieve the 5.
    sound?
Is there any game patches that you will need to update?
Does the Dolby Digital LED light up when you are playing the game?
Please retain all the previous correspondence when replying to this
    email.
    Best Regards

    Hi
I am sorry; I should have said the Inspire 5. was model number digital
    5500
    S/N SW330030026.
The inspire has these connection on the back of the processor
    >From top/back of unit
    Audio Outputs
    Front
    Rear
    Centre/subwoofer
    Audio inputs
    Audio line in
    Coaxial
    Optical
    DIN
The Din to a remotely located Subwoofer which has the speaker leads
    inputting into it. Plus power.
Attached is the creative view of the controls menu and I have attached
    the
invoice I was sent, it shows the lead I was told to fit.
As I said, I can now hear DD5. while within a movie from ALL speakers
    BUT
no sound from rears during IN GAME DD5.
I do not use this PC for films only games.
    Regards
    Martin
If you are having a digital connection, it is normal for only get only
front left/right is you use the speaker test option.
    http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=3&sid=4858
Speaker test only outputs from two front speakers?
You mentioned that that you are unable to get any sound from the rear
speakers when playing game right? May i know are you using a digital
connection? May i know what speaker settings have been made under
    Creative Speaker settings?
Do get back to me on the above.
    Thanks

    Memory: Gig DDR 4

    Detailed Problem Description:
I have the above Sound card.
    I also own Inspire 5. amp/processor
I Wanted to save money by connecting above sound
    card to amp/processor
Connections on sound card made life very difficult
I contacted Creative for help. you told me to buy
an RCA to mini jack cord which also has other connections, from your
web site, (I tried to find
the product number for you, but your sub-menu
system is so poor I couldn't locate the RCA/mini
3.5 /to phono link for you) this cord connects
directly into the digital in, on the sound card (3.5 Mini jack) to the
    coaxial input on the
    inspire 5. amp/processor.
I have enabled ALL sp-diff settings and digital in
setting on every program/utility/kitchen sink and all.
I have an SP-Diff wire from DVD burner to creative
sound card, and yes its enabled and digital only
    is selected.
I can play a DVD and see the inspire 5.
automatically change from Pro-logic to Dolby
digital when it See's an AC-3 stream.
when I try and play ANY game you say has EAX
,2,3,4 I cannot get any sound from my rear
speakers (see above in Dolby Digital ALL speakers
    work correctly)
when I enter the set-up menu within the creative
software you supply with the sound card and select
    5. speaker, digital only, test the speakers via
the white noise function, all i hear is left and
right noise. no centre, no rears.
I phoned you tech support line, the boy on the
phone didn't have much of a clue about your
product and I had to tell him what connections sit
on the inspire 5. series amp/processor.
I want to build another PC for my son, I want to
add the FX series sound card and amp, but i am not
willing to buy anything until i feel you have
helped me to solve this problem first.
please can you help, I am at the end of my tether
    with this sound card.
    kind regards
