Got a Mac Book Pro (2009), want to connect to my Panasonic tx l32d25b with tech link wires - visual works but no audio - does anybody how to make the audio work? Rich

You'll need an adapter that combines video from the mini-Displayport and audio from the headphone port or a USB port into a single HDMI cable. Here are two:

The first carries 5.1-channel surround sound from the headphone port; the second carries ordinary 2-channel stereo from a USB port.

My 2009 mac book pro is full and i think it is because of the videos and pictures i have. I also have a 1TB airport wireless router that the "time machine" runs on. is there any way i can copy over older videos and pictures from my computer to the router so i free up memory on my computer? Also, what's the best way to delete videos and pictures from imovie and iphoto - through finder or through the application itself. I thought this would have been easier but it's not.

The 2009's didn't support sound on HDMI. That came in 2010. Are you sure it ever worked?

I have a 2009 mac book pro. CDs will not load in OSX - however it will load CDs in Win 7 via bootcamp. Same with any CD or DVD. Any ideas on what is wrong?

I have a 2009 mac book pro running 10.6.8. I also use win 7 via boot camp. I can load CDs and DVDs fine, when booted onto win 7 but cannot get the same dvds or cds loaded when running OSX. So, I'm having to reboot to win 7, every time I want to import a CD into my itunes library - I load the disc in win 7, then reboot back to osx in order to import the CD into my itunes library (which i have on my OSX side). Your Mac supports OS X Yosemite. If you need to upgrade your Mac, do it, but if you are happy with the OS X version you are running or you do not like changes (OS X Yosemite has got an interface change), you can keep it always that it is not very old.
In order to upgrade to OS X Yosemite, it is as simple as opening the Mac App Store and downloading OS X Yosemite. When the download finishes, the installer will show up, so follow its steps. Before upgrading, it is important to make a backup of your files with Time Machine -> Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support You can also check that your applications are compatible with Yosemite in this website -> http://www.roaringapps.com
OS X Yosemite should run properly, but I recommend you to run it with at least 4 GB of RAM (you can check how much RAM you have in the Apple menu -> About this Mac). In case Yosemite runs slowly, the backup you made will let you go back to your old version.

Yes. You need 2011 or later in order to mirror as it requires the newer processor. The alternative is airparrot, which does it via software.

Not directly, but if the CPU overheats because of incompatible software, that would cause slowdowns. Do not allow the computer to run if the fan is not working unless you wish to fry your motherboard. Please make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

For example so that I can just press shift or another key to get the German character.

Some may already exist, but you will have to learn them. On my old system these can be found through keyviewer.app For example, if I press option+s I get ß Umlaut is a bit cumbersome as option+u then the actual letter. It may be possible to bind a key to do this function, possibly through System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts
I have old, old references for utilities that let you rebind keys to other functions, and you would have to see if they have modern equivalents.

Is this thing a piece of junk? My MacBook Air is running fine. I've literally only charged the MacBook Pro battery a handful of times -- it's brand new.

At these prices don't screw around. Just call applecare to arrange an appointment at the nearest apple store.

How did you search for the iPhoto Library?
What do you mean by "is gone"? Is the iPhoto Library missing from the Pictures folder? Or does iPhoto launch and show and empty library, and you assume, that the library is missing?
Which version of iPhoto is installed on your old Mac?

You can search everywhere with FindAnyFile, where Spotlight will not search.

Download and run Find Any File to search for a file with "ThumbJPGSegment" in the file name. These are files common to all versions of iPhoto libraries.
FAF can search areas that Spotlight can't like invisible folders, system folders and packages. If there's a library hiding somewhere on your hard drive FAF will find it.

2009 Mac Book Pro want to install an SSD drive to replace optical 250 drive. What is best way?

My Mac Book Pro is getting very slow (2009) I want to replace 250 optical drive foe a 256 SSD Samsung850 pro drive. What is the best way to proceed. I am running Yosemite now. Have the SSD drive formatted and a back up made of my old drive. Do I have to go back to Snow leopard and reload? Then update to present?

That error can be as a result of a number of reasons, corrupt file system, incompatible software, malware. etc.
I suggest that you connect the SDD via USB, boot into the recovery partition and install Yosemite onto the SSD. (Make certain that it has been formatted.)
Then test to see if it will boot the MBP (OPTION key down at start up and then select the SSD icon.)
If it boots the MBP, swap the drives and then connect the original or your back up HDD to the MBP and then drag and drop your data to the internal SSD.
This way if the HHD was corrupt, that issue then should be eliminated.
Not as quick a procedure, but this seems to be the best alternative that I can come up with.

Have seen CS3 (I have) mentioned as working with Maverick/Yosemite
Current Photoshop is creative cloud - you do not have to purchase all elements - instead of lump sum, Adobe charges a monthly license fee - the software resides on your mac - and the mac has to check in once a month to keep the license going - updates are part of the deal.
CS6 apparently is still available if you want to pay the lump sum for an upgrade.
