  • Audio video capture and combination Nintendo64

    Hi
I was hoping that someone could help me with mixing a video and audio signal for live playback.
I have a N64 with its video component hooked up to my TV capture card, and the audio connected to the line in on my sound card.
the computer i'm using has a fresh install of arch, with xfce. I currently just have alsa installed, as far a sound stuff goes and everything is working fine.
right now i can see the video from my nintendo with "QT V4L2 test utility" which is all good. I can't make this video full screen or any bigger. I do know i can use cheese to view the video in full screen, but it does not handle any audio.
so, what program can i use? or how can i play captured audio live?? is there a program (something like cheese or not) that can handle the capture and playback of both audio and video????? the latter is prefered
any input would be good, some ideas could help me along
    thanks guys

ok cool VLC seems like a good option, i can capture the video just fine becasue i know the video device name is /dev/video0 but i don't know what the audio device name is..
i have been looking online for a way to find this out. but i have not yet found a way to tell me what the audio device name is for my sound card. (i have the audio input connected to a PCI sound card)
i just found this which helped a bit
    http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=81166
it turns out that when i have a look the sound card i want to use is alsa://plughw:0,0
so i go -> show more options -> play another media synchrously and enter alsa://plughw:0,0. all goes well

  • Capture and streaming audio and video

JavaFX supports capture and record audio and video and need some streaming server as woonza, red5, flash media server to play the streaming?

JavaFX does not support flash streaming.
JavaFX does support http live streaming: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_Live_Streaming
JavaFX does not support audio/video capture (there are other java/native libraries that do that).
    See:

  • Video capture and JavaFX

I've run throgh few threads in this forums and the sites, but I could not find when (and if) video capture will be supported by JavaFX (audio is not a major problem, as it is supported in JRE). It is possible to know something about it ?
Where any roadmaps for future releases (in terms of contents / release dates) are published ?
    Thanks.

  • Capturing and streaming

    Hi all.
I've designed and installed an in-place video system for my university, which captures live from a camera to an iMac via Firewire. I am capturing in DV or HDV in FCP and Quicktime Player. I've been asked now to add streaming to the setup as well, for live broadcasts of performances.
Here is one solution: capture as above, run the camera's analog output to a second computer with a capture device, and stream it with QT Streaming Server or something similar.
But, does anyone have a suggestion as to how to capture and stream with the firewire signal? Is there a way to capture and stream from the same computer? Or a way of in a sense "splitting" the firewire signal (an impossibility I know)? It would be ideal if I could have a second computer passively capturing the firewire video for streaming.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm going to answer my own question here.
I just experimented and, contrary to everything I thought I knew, daisy chaining firewire devices will actually work. If connect a camera to Computer A, and connect Computer B to Computer A's other firewire port, then BOTH computers can see the video signal. I will have to try this with a hub as well.
I would imagine that the computer with multiple ports has to have a single Firewire bus, but that is a guess. And I can't get this to work with iMovie; I think iMovie by default is trying to control the device, and doesn't play well with multiple hosts actually trying to control it. But I can run FCP with it set for "non-controllable device" or Quicktime Player on both machines, and it works just fine.
Next step: record with FCP on one computer, test streaming on the other with Quicktime Broadcaster.

  • How to send files like audio, video, images and text via RMI..

    Hi everyone,
As I am working under a project, my own, of creating a chat machine, I've thought to make it capable of doing everything that MSN or yahoo MSN can do. Till now I've just been able to send messages and some small icons as expressions. So, my next step will be making my progam able to send even other files like audio, video, images and text to the person on the other machine to whom I'm chatting. But as I don't have any idea on how to start doing it, I want anyone who think he/she can help me to give me the basic logic that is used to do so. I would very much appreciate it. I've used vectors to store the text messages which is visible to all the users using the chat program enabling them to see various messages in it.
    thank you...
    Jay

    Hi,
Now, I got stuck because the code doesn't seem to work well. For large files with around 40 mb or more size couldn't be sent. I have constructed the code, just rough sketch, as follows:
** In the Server Implementation class I've used FileInputStream to read the contents of a file that is sent as an argument to the method.
** Similarly, in the client side I've used RandomAccessFile to save the received array of bytes.
    public void sendFile(File f)
       ChatServer cs=(ChatServer)Naming.lookup("rmi://localhost/ChatServer");
cs.readsAndStoreTheFileInTheServer(f); // In the Server Implementation the contents of the file is read and saved in an array of byte. later method is invoked by the client to get the array of the saved byte.
cs.message("-Accept-"); // When a client receives this word then a JComponent with accept and cancel button will be constructed from where other clients can save/cancel the sent file.
}For small size files this code works well but for files more than 40 mb of size it is useless. I wonder if there's any other alternative.
    regards,
    Jay

  • 2010 iMac 2.93 i7 27" or 2011 2.8 i7 21.5" - which will suit better long-term?  I do a fair amount of audio, video editing and photoshop, but I have a limited budget.  What's going to give the best bang-for-buck for the next 3-5 yrs?

I do a fair amount of audio, video editing and photoshop, but I have a limited budget.  What's going to give the best bang-for-buck for the next 3-5 yrs?  My current machine is a 13" Macbook unibody 2.4 Core 2 Duo w/ 4Gb Ram so it's time to move forward with more power and screen real estate!

    Hello, Jeff
I could never edit on a 13" screen. I'm currently using a 17" MBP i7 Early 2011 as a fast replacement to my aged 20" Intel iMac.
Both systems are not that far apart on stats and you will find that processing HD video will rely highly on the read/write to your storage. Myself, I'd be eye balling the 2011 for the Thunderbolt port so HD Video export/compression doesn't take forever! Currently processing a finished HD project for DVD uses at most 20% of my total CPU capacity. The FW800 drive is the big bottleneck! (I know I need at least a RAID to see a real speed boost).
How good your eyes are and your usage style would dictate if the difference in screen size make a difference to you.

  • Mega simple video capture and edit program. Cross platform.

Looking for a mega simple video capture and edit program. Am overseeing a bunch of small groups where we want each person in the group's story told. Some groups will have Macs, some PCs, some iPads, iphones, etc. So needs to be cross platform.
Really, the simpler, the better. Like targeting 5 year olds

Is there any software anyone recommends - Sorenson?
I am capturing regular dv from minidv.

  • Going to do a video capture and it is blurry

I got my new mac book on Thursday of last week.. I did two videos on my new Imovie 11 and they were great.  Today I go to create another video (capture) and it is blurry, like it has some special effect on it.  I check and there are no effects that I can tell.. Can you help?

dang it! haha. right in front of my face. I thought there was a way to do it with quicktime but couldn't find it. I guess I didn't look hard enough. and the Help doesn't tell you this at all, although maybe I didn't use the right words for Help.
    thanx.

  • Audio / Video Capture

Is it possible to capture audio or video in JavaFX. I'd like to record live streams :)

    Thanks for the links.
It's (again) disappointing to see that AV capture will be ready in Q4 2013 when all other major platforms have it already (some for years now).
To continue in my rant, JavaFX brings nothing new - Oracle is just catching up with mainstream. I don't really get it. The whole JRE needs major redesign - new APIs and everything united and with flat hierarchy. I'd love to use it (and I'll have to if I want to develop UIs in Java), but it's not really innovative product. I know this has to be discouraging thing to hear for the JavaFX team, but it's the truth.
JRE should contain, rich multimedia APIs, UI framework and 2D/3D scenegraph library. Look at what Google/Apple have been able to accomplish across their platforms in no time, in comparison with Java...
Btw the last link points to some DB issue with Canadian date/time format...
I voted up the issue, others should do the same to get it in earlier than in one and half year - http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-3458 By that time, HTML5 will have it, cross-platform (even on cellphones).
To be fair, I have to add that Java Sound API is included in the JRE and one can use it for audio capture and playback.

  • Audio Video Transmitting  and Receiving

Can anybody help me...to do following task...
I am doing some networking project where i need to send a video files from
one system and play it on other system using RTP without storing it.
I have seen some JMF example codes to transmit and receive videos but
problem is that both audio and video streams of a video file are not been properly
received or played back on receiving system ie for some files only audio is there and for
    some only video is there...
I need to have some code so that both streams can be played together....
can anybody suggest me to this so that i can implement this properly
    Its Urgent....

  • Video capture and than transmit it

After I made live video capture from (and play it with Man Media Player) I want to transmit this stram (using RTP) to other computer. How could I do this? Thank you.

I used VideoTransmit.java sample from Sun (JMF solutions...). My problem is: I want see what I transmit. For this I need a Player for my Data Source. If I used a player for my Data Source I cann't used it for transmit. It is already allocated. I could clone my data source and use one for player and the other one for transmit. It works thus. I tried it. But the stream locks from time to time. I need other solution. If I used JMStudio->File->Transmit... the stream is played and transmited very good.

  • Video capture and system properties

    Hello,
Two questions on mmapi and video capture:
    1. On a Samsung SGH-A707 phone, I get a return of 'false' when running
    System.getProperty("supports.video.capture"), indicating that it won't
allow video capture thru mmapi. However, when running
    System.getProperty("video.encodings"), it returns
    'encodings=video/H263'. Isn't this a contradiction? If it doesn't
support capture, why would it show an encoding? Does the return of false
absolutely mean that the phone doesn't support video capture?
    What am I missing?
    2. On an LG CU500, I get a return of 'true' when running
    System.getProperty("supports.video.capture"), indicating that it will
allow video capture thru mmapi. However, running
    System.getProperty("video.encodings"), it returns 'encodings=jpeg'. How
is jpeg a video encoding? Isn't this only for snapshots? Do they mean
    motion-jpeg?
These are both new-ish phones, and both support video capture natively
    (outside of java).
Last question: How widespread is support for video capture thru j2me?

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
I have recently bought a fifth generation ipod, and have used the video capture feature.
First of all, this should have been posted in the +5th generation iPod Nano+ forum instead of the *5th generation iPod Video* one. Here is the link to this forum for future references.
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=265
When I sync the ipod to itunes on my mac, will I lose this video capture?
No. Videos you take on your iPod have to manually be removed from the iPod either through the iPod itself or by opening up the necessary folders and files on your iPod through Windows Explorer.
And if so, how can I sync the ipod to a new itunes library without losing the video recording I did on the ipod?
Why would you need to worry about this? Was your nano previously synced with another iTunes library? If not, all you should have to do is hook it up to the new iTunes library and you should be good to go. For instructions on how to remove videos from your iPod, see pages 55-56 of your iPod's manual, which can be found below.

    Hope this helps.

  • Digital video capture and the K8T Neo

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck capturing digital video with a machine based on this motherboard.  I've tried using various programs, including Adobe Premiere Pro, Scenalyzer, DVIO, and Movie Maker.  Regardless of what I use, I end up with enough dropped frames to make the video very choppy in places, especially if I try to capture type-2 (video for Windows) DV, as Premiere Pro requires for editing.
    Here's my setup:
    MSI K8T Neo
    AMD Athlon-64 3400+
    2 X 512 MB KingMax PC-3200 RAM
    Hercules RADEON 9800 Pro graphics

2 X Maxtor 250 GB SATA hard drives (model 7Y250M0)
    Plextor 708-A DVD+/-RW
I've tried the following configurations of hard drives with no success:
500 GB RAID0 array on Via controller, 60 GB drive on tertiary IDE, running from one drive and capturing to the other
250 GB drive on Via controller, 250 GB drive on Promise controller, 60 GB drive on secondary IDE, tried capturing to each
I've run some tests of disk write speeds, and they seem more than adequate for video capture (approximately 50 MB/s write for the SATA drives, 25 MB/s for the Ultra ATA drive).
I've read that there were issues with PCI bus throughput with slightly older Via chipsets, and that there have generally been issues with Via ATA controllers.
So, has anyone successfully used this motherboard to capture digital video?  What did you have to do to prevent frame drop?
Thanks in advance for any advice...
