Authentication, Multiple domain, different forest lowercase domain.

We have succesfully configured a BOXI 3.1 SP3 to use SSO using vintela, tomcat for our domain that is on 2000 native mode.
Let's call this one Domain1.
In our domain there is another separate domain sitting on a 2003 domain level. (Let's call this one Domain2). They have a 2 way trust, but not transitive.
Here is the deal:
1- Users from domain1, where the server is configured are able to access using SSO without issues.  Users from domain2 needs to do manual logon, but using the following format:
useraccount at DOMAIN2.COM
If we use the domain as lowercase, login does not work even if we use the domain_realm on krb5.ini  Why?
2- Do you think that we have to move to domain1 to 2003 native mode and configure 2 way trust in order to have SSO working on both domain that are from different forest?
Any help would be appreciated.

Note 1206522 seems to answer my questions, but anyway still not satisfied.

  • Ise Authentication to two different forests second using External Radius, Not LDAP

    Hi Guys,
I am hoping someone can help me.  We currently have two AD forests one for staff and one for students.  These forests do not have a two way trust between them nor do we want to. We currently have Ise 1.2 integration with our Student forest using AD working just fine. The ipads and other devices are playing nicely and cooperating well.    We want to get our staff to be able to use ISE as well.  Currently there is no way to use two AD forests so I was directed to use LDAP instead for the second domain.  Unfortunatley after playing around with it LDAP doesn't support mschapv2 which our mobile devices like ipads do play nicely with.  This causes an issue only because we would have to utilize certificates to get everything to work correctly.  This is not the route we want to go.  So i was speaking to Tac and they recommended using an External Radius server.  Then modify my auth profiles to look for the domain name in the authentication string.  If it starts for example student\ then i can have ise forward the auth request to the AD integrated PSNs for auth.  If the auth string starts with staff\ for example i should be able to forward this request to my external radius server.
This sounds all good in theory but i have not found any documentation to support this to help me configure it.  Has anyone tried this approach?  Or have any leads on where i can find some good documentation as to what radius servers are supported.  I am hoping Windows server 2008 R2 with a radius role installed, but i am just not sure.
If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it.
    Thank you
    Joey

That is correct! Cisco ISE supports integration with a single Active  Directory identity source. Cisco ISE uses this Active Directory identity  source to join itself to an Active Directory domain. If this Active  Directory source has a multidomain forest, trust relationships must  exist between its domain and the other domains in order for Cisco ISE to  retrieve information from all domains within the forest.
However,  you may create multiple instances for LDAP. Cisco ISE can communicate  via LDAP to Active Directory servers in an untrusted domain. The only  limitation you would see with LDAP being a database that it doesn't  support PEAP MSCHAPv2 ( native microsoft supplicant). However it does  suppport EAP-TLS.

  • How to copy table from database in one forest to a database in a different forest?

    Hello Community
Using Wndows 2008 Server Enterprise there exists 2 Forests,
each containing their own SQL Server 2008 installations, a scenario exists as follows:
a)"Domain1" resides in "Forest1" which has SQL Server 2008 containing
a database named "Database1" which contains a table named "Table1".
b)"Domain2" resides in "Forest2" which also has SQL Server 2008
but containing a database named "Database2"which contains a table
             named "Table2".
        I tried to use <domain_name>.<server_name>.<owner_name>.object
    but that syntax didn't work.
        How can I copy "Table2" from "Database2" into "Database1"
(keeping in mind the databases are in different forests and domains)?

  • Lync 2010 server and UM role on different domains in different forests

    Hello
I have a Lync 2010 environment running on domain A, with exchange 2010 UM also running in Domain A.  We are in the process of migrating users and mailboxes from domain A to domain B.  Once we reach our enterprise voice users with exchange UM enabled
we will need to install the exchange UM role on the exchange server in Domain B.
There is a 2-way trust relationship between domain A and domain B.
All the users from are running Lync on a PC located in Domain B, using Lync credentials from Domain A.
Are there any issues running Lync 2010 and Exchange UM from different domains in different forests?  Is it as simple as creating a new UM DialPlan and UM IP Gateway to the domain A Lync FQDN?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Each UM forest must be configured to trust the forest in which Lync Server is deployed, and the forest in which Lync Server 2013 is deployed must be configured to trust each UM forest. If Exchange UM is installed in multiple forests, the Exchange
Server integration steps must be performed for each UM forest or you’ll have to specify the Lync Server domain.
Here is a link about for UM of Lync server 2013 but similar for Lync server 2010:

It is possible in ACS 4.2 to do machine and user authentication over cross forest trusts. See Resolved Caveats here:

  • Issuing certificates for user and clients from different forest/domain

    Hello,
at first I would like to say that I have made some researches on this forum and in the Internet overall.
I have AD Forest with ~10 sites all over the Europe, DFL and FFL is 2008 R2, right now we are migrating site by site from old domain (samba) to AD.
Last time I have deployed PKI based on offline root CA and 2 Enterprise acting as 2-node Failover Cluster.
Everything in my AD Forest is OK, I mean, autoenrollment works perfect for users and computers from my forest,
now I need to deploy a certificate (for test) to one web-based pbx server in samba domain, there are no trusts etc. Samba domain as well as AD Forest are working on the same network, with routeable subnets in each site, so there is no problem with connectivity,
What are possible way to achieve this goal? I mean to issue cert to client from different forest, so that this client is able to validate it, validate certificate chain and renew it when needed?
I have Installed and Configured CE Web Service and CE Policy Web Service. Now I have configured Enrollment Policies on my virtual machine (being part of different domain), I selected username/password authentication, I am able to request certificate, I can
see all templates which I should see, but when I try to enroll I got an error:
(translated from my language)A certification chain processed correctly, but one of the CA certificates is not trusted by the policy provider
My root CA cert is added to trusted publishers for computer and user node as well.
What could be wrong? If you have any ideas or questions, please share or ask.
    Thank you in advance.

Everything is clear, I have Certificate Enrollment Web Services installed and configured,
problem is what i get from certutil - TCAInfo

    Hello together,
Is it possible to install multiple AD FS Instances on independent AD FS Server in one Domain or Forest? If yes, is that supported from Microsoft or best practice?
    Best regards

    Hi Ulrich,
Is it possible to install multiple AD FS Instances on independent AD FS Server in one Domain or Forest?
Yes, it is possible. Actually, multiple instances in a single ADFS farm are very useful for fail-over.

Would agree with Christoffer and migrate using ADFS but before you can do this you will need to set up a trust between the two domains.  Once this has been accomplished then you can run ADMT.

  • Can I add a two way trusted but in different forest domain to My existing Lync 2013 Topology !

    HI !
We have an installed Lync 2013 Std Edt. setup and its working perfectly for one domain. Our network infrastructure ( LAN ) is being shared with our sister company. They have their own forest and domain and a two ways trust relationship with our domain. I
want to add them in our Lync 2013 topology, is it possible ?? if yes, thn what are the requirements and which changes i need to consider.
Response from experts would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, You must establish a two-way trust between the central forest and user forests to enable distribution group expansion when groups from user forests are synchronized as contacts to the central forest.
Also you can refer below link

  • One way trust relationship between different domain windows server 2012 in different forest

I'd like to build trust correctly between the domains A.local and B.int. A.local is on a Windows 2012 . B.int is on a Windows 2012 . Both machines are
connected to the same LAN. The forest level in A.local
machine is Windows Server 2008 and The forest level in B.int
    is Windows server 2012.
    I want a one-way trust relationship, i.e. users from A.local gain access to B.local.
my problem it i create the trust put when i go to validate the trust between A.Local and B.int give me this error :
The secure channel (SC) reset on Active Directory Domain Controller \\dc2.B.int of domain B.int to domain A.Local failed with error: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request.
    NOTE : Recently I

  • Re: File sync across servers different domains and forests

I don't see why that would be an issue however I have only ever used it in exchange 2013

    Hey Guys
Just seeing if anyone had any idea for software to sync drives/folders between 2 servers over the internet. We 2 separate domains and forests running. 1 location uses 1 domain and then 3 locations use the second domain. However we need to be able to sync some folders between the 2 domains as staff are all technically running under the single organization name (very confusing). I wanted to use DFS but obviously cant due to the forest restraints here.
The staff all use a terminal server and have a mapped drive with directory structure and need so basically have that syncing both ways as each side will have their own structure that needs to sync back to the other site.
    Sorry if that's confusing
    Thanks

  • ACS Authentication, multiple domains

    Hi all,
    I have the following problem
I have a Win 2003 domain (A) and a trust established with another Win
2003 domain (B). Domain A is the one with the CiscoSecure software.
We have many trusts with other domains (mostly Win 2000) and have
configured the mappings by using CiscoSecure.
But when trying to "add mappings" for this new 2003 Domain (B), I
continually am getting "failed to enumerate Windows groups. If you are
using Active Directory consult the installation guide for information."
I am not able to see domain B's users and groups from within the Cisco
    Secure software.
However, if I use Active Directory Users and Computers from Domain A,
and "connect to domain" and choose Domain B, I am able to view all
    users and groups just fine.
Do you know if there is a problem with configuring two 2003 domains in
this software? Do you have any other areas that I should investigate?
Some local policy on Domain B?

If ACS is installed on a DC of DOM1 and DOM1 has trust relationship to a remote domain DOM2
    1) ACS Services (on DOM1 DC) run under a DOM1 Domain User (and Local Machine Administrator) - "acsacct"
    2) This account (acsacct) has "Act as part of the OS" permission in Domain Security Policy and Domain Controller Security Policy
    3) On DOM2 (The Remote Domain) , we Delegated Control to the acsacct User to the Custom Task of "Group Objects" and "User Objects".

  • How many ADFS farms can you have in a single forest/single domain?

    Hi
I may have some terminology incorrect...please let me know if I do. :)
My question is, how many ADFS farms can you have in a single forest/single domain? If you want to know why I am asking...please read on.
We have 1 ADFS Farm and we are looking adding services to it. However not every cloud vendor provides a "Identity Broker" with there services.
We have a consultant that is advising that we need to enable a SAML-based IdP-initiated single sign-on (SSO) ie using "IdpInitiatedSignOnPage"
However to do this we need to modify the ADFS website to have "drop down" list so the user can select the "Relying Party" and then authentication with them.
This means we are exposing a list of every company/party we have federated with. The exposure of this information, is deemed a security concern by our company....which I agree with.
So the consultant advises that we need a separate ADFS farm. I have searched online, but haven't found any information that confirms multiple ADFS farms can be implemented in a single forest/single domain.
Thanks for reading and if you have any other suggestions...I'd appreciate it.
    Nyobi

This is not exactly FIM related question - there is ADFS forum available on Technet. However - technically there is no limit of ADFS farms in a forest \ domain. It is just a service which uses AD and is not altering it in any way or storing some forest-wide
information like Exchange. So you can setup two ADFS services in single forest - no problem.
If it is a best solution to your problem? I can't say with that limited information but maybe just customization of pages on ADFS side would be enough?

  • SQL Windows Authentication with Login of AD Group 'Domain Admins'

Having a bit of a difficulty with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 windows authentication integration...
The server is setup to have Windows authentication used as its means of login authentication. No issues with this other than a strange error that occurs on multiple SQL servers in our domain:
When a login is created for domain group "[domain]\Domain Admins", users within this AD group cannot connect to the SQL server through the Management Studio. The error that SQL server gives is Error 18456, Sate 11, i.e. "Valid login but server
    access failure"
However when a different AD group is added as a login (like [domain]\[group]), users from this group can successfully log into SQL server. It seems that adding any other group, even groups from a different domain, grants successful authentication as I would
expect EXCEPT the AD group 'Domain Admins".
Is there some restriction/security feature at play here on this AD group that makes using the 'Domain Admins' group as a login not possible?

  • CRM2011/3: Outlook CRM Cient Issues with Dual Domain (trusted forest)

We currently have CRM2011 but are about to migrate to CRM2013 and then to CRM2015. We have a configuration issue that we not sure is supported and seek clarification from the community please.
Our CRM deployment is working fine with the browser and Outlook CRM client on our single AD. Recently we have started allowing user within another AD to use our CRM. We have done this by setting up a bidirectional trust between the two domains.
Users from the new domain can use CRM if we add their {domain}\{login} into the user entity by hand (the add multiple users feature cannot browser the trusted foreign domain).
With the browser everything is fine, the new user from the foreign domain get straight in without needing to re-authenticate.
However, we've not been able to install the Outlook CRM client for those users. Is this because they belong to another domain and the authentication is done differently to that of the browser.
Is this scenario supported? Does it require Claims Authentication to get foreign Outlook User to connect?
    Any feedback gratefully received.
