Authorisation, tabs and pages ?

Hi,
What would be the best way to restrict some pages and tabs to some users. I have tabs 1,2,3 and 4. I have pages 1,2,3 and 4. Admin user should have access to tabs and pages 1,2,3 and 4, but regular users should only have access to tabs and pages 2,3, and 4.
Any suggestion ?

Is it possible to go to a different login page
depending on the user.Make one page of your application public, with different URLs to different login pages. Pass out the URL to that page for all logins. Users get trained about which login to use and you've put in place (assumption) a process on the back end that controls whether users have access to that login/application or not. Then all the other pages of the app(s) can be secured post-login.

I am using Apex 4.1
I have the following tabs set up.
Home, Tab 1,Tab 2 and so on
The home page is fine. Now the query is with regard to Tab 1. I need it to display Page 3 or Page 4 based on the location of APP_USER
The region details are all stored in the table : employee_info
How can I check or display Page 3 if the Region is APAC and Page 4 if EMEA(APAC and EMEA being values in table)
Is there some way how I can set or achieve this? The default page I have set is as of now Page 3 but it has to pick Page 3 or 4 based on region value from employee table.
Any guidance will be appreciable.

Tabs and pages not drawn when switching tabs.

When switching between tabs or opening new tabs, the tab and the page are not drawn. But if I scroll down the page is drawn.
This doesn't happen always. It happens randomly.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)

Tabs and pages

Hi,
Am I correct in saying that you can make a tab jump to a page but you can't make a page 'fit into a tab'?
What I mean is the following:
I have a page x connected to a tab set.
Created a region on page x, with display point of After Header, which makes the region appear above the tab bar.
When I add tabs to the tab set and link pages y and z to them, and when clicking the tabs in runtime the pages y or z fill the whole screen and the region on page x is no longer visible.
Is there a way to do that (keep regions on page x visible)? or do I have to use Page 0 for that?

Pretty much. To my knowledge, that's all tabs in any web page do. They're just a navigation metaphor.
And yes, the tab bar is always located at or near the top of Apex pages.

Hi, In my application I have around 100+ pages and grouped together based on specific category. I have a one level tab page as default, and I have grouped the tabs based on the category.
I displayed the tabs when contained in a comma separated page numbers. Then I wanted put these pages in a table and display the tabs when a specific page is selected.
Ex:

On G+ and (home tab) and page ends. No longer have infinite scroll.

My pages end. This only occurs on Firefox and only since update to 31. I disabled all extensions , plugins, reset Firefox, to no avail. G+ also starts on Communities tab now, and at times the yellow triangle will pop up stating the site cert is not verified. Help?

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Customizing Portal tabs and pages

hi,
I am trying to customize the portal for BI. We would like to remove completely the stanard functionality and put only two tabs one Home and another tab "BI". So, i created two pages by name "Home" and "BI". and also i created a workset and kept these two pages in the workset and attached this workset to the role and attached the role to the test user ABC.
After i have done this, i logged in as test user ABC. Nothing is visible. Do i need to do some settings in permissions or any where else so that the test user can see only two tabs like Home and BI and under Home , he would like to see "Home" Page and under BI "BI" page.
Please advise.

you need to assign end user role to the user to make Home role visible for that user.

Hello; The Firefox program is taking long to load, or to open a new window; new tabs and pages load fine, but any new window can take up 1 minute to load; do you know why this could be happening? thanks for the help

It happens at any time; when starting the computer or hours later; the computer is one year old, it has not many programs installed, the starter config is rather clean, there is nothing eating the computer resources, the hard disk is defragmented and the only add-on I use is the ad-block plus

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I can't restore a previous session (it instead recovers the session before) of my Tabs and my home page keeps being reset to firefox

Over the last few days (since i updated to the newest version of firefox) i've been having problems. I usually keep open quite a few tabs that are invaluable to me that I need, they contain vital information i've been needing for research and I can't afford to keep losing them!. I'm used to exiting firefox when i turn off my computer and them saving for my next session when I open firefox back up. For some reason now, if i turn off my computer, when i turn on again and go into firefox to restore my previous session. it will restore the session prior to my previous session but not my previous session.
My default setting was to resume the Firefox session from where it was when I last exited Firefox that I set. The settings are all the same as they was before I updated firefox and I had this problem, so it is set to remember my history. I'm really not that tech savvy so i really don't know if it was teh update that caused it but it seems around the same time. Also, every single time. it sets my home page to firefox (it is usually google)) it will only remain google if i change it back and remain for the day until i restart my computer.
I'd be most grateful to any hint that might solve this problem. Thank you for your attention. I really appreciate the input! thanks everyone in advance!

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.
Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems

Firefox 24.0 does not update any YouTube page for the download extensions. Video aivalable for download is the 1th opened in the tab and not the video playing.

On YouTube, when more than one video have been played, staying on the same page, videos aivalable for download, by any Firefox Download Extension as Downloader Helper, Flash Video Downloader or 1 Click Video Download, are the format options for the first video opened in the tab, and not format options for the video actually playing.
I have tried resetting Firefox ( Firefox menu : ? \ Troubleshooting Information \ Reset Firefox), and reinstall Videos Downloaders (without Adblock Plus that I normally use), it did not solve the problem.
Temporary Solution :
Refreshing the http://www.youtube.com/... page ( by hitting the round arrow at the right of the adress bar ) allows me to update the download features but it is annoying as it restarts the playback every time I decide to download a video ( so is it having to remember to refresh the page ).
I am surprised it seems no one have experience and solved this problem yet.

What hardware are you on? Flash is always a finicky beast, especially on older hardware. This is not an entirely uncommon problem. Try looking at this [[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems|support article]] and see if that helps.

Hello- I would like to have new pages open in a separate tab automatically...(i.e., Google--- Google listing---click on listing-----auto open new tab and put the page of the google listing that I selected, on the new tab. Thanks. RMartinez

Here is my scenario-
I am browsing, and let's say, I'm on Google. I look up "albatross novels." I get 6 hits. I look at the list, and I pick one of them. I double-click on it, and away we go. My current Google search page is REPLACED by the selected "albatross" site. But it's not exactly what I want. So now I click the BACK ARROW to go back to the Google page, to look at the other 'albatross" hits. And now I find another site, replacing my Google page when I open it......And THAT site takes me to another site, and another, and yet another......But then I realize that the first site WAS the best one. Now I have to hit the back button 15 times and probably NOT reach the Google page from which I started.
But if I could have the new pages open in a new tab, then I could go back and forth between all the pages without worrying about the back button.
I am sure that this is just a setting change somewhere, but I can't find it....I do have it on my work computer.

How to put report title and page no to appear in multiple pages,when using cross tab reports

I am using crystal reports 9.0 with odbc foxpro database conectivity
I have designed a cross tab report and it is on the report header part and all the report details are fine,except that the report title and and page no's only show on the first page of my report.Pls tell me how can i put my report title and page no on all the pages in my crosstab.

You need to put your title in the page header if you want it to appear on every page. The report header only displays once per report.
